Bricks gets a 1 star bump to earn a shiny,sparkley 5 star !! It has moved locations from the last time I reviewed,just a block or so down from the old location. The new joint is snazzy with big splashy artwork plastered all over the walls,a big brick oven, and friendly staff. Now to the good stuff...the food is freaking delicious! I have eaten there 3 times in the last week.I would actually love to eat here today but I need to put a stop to.Unless you lovely Bricks people wanna give me some free Za I'm there! Ok so you pretty much cant go wrong with any of the treats they offer.The sandwiches are fresh and warm,I have had the portablello,tomato mozzarella and the club med veggie the are all 100% vegetarian! I was a first-time customer of Bricks when I discovered them through yelp. They're centrally located in downtown Lombard, and the decor is attractive, clean, and modern. I walked in and ordered a take-away sandwich (Ric's Club, $7). It came with a bag of plain potato chips included, and I only had to wait about 5 minutes for it to be bagged and ready. The sandwich was served toasty hot, and it was delicious! I haven't yet tried the pizza, but I plan on having a dinner there with friends to talk and chow down. Decided to try this place out with the entire family: a party of 20 people!The staff was very nice and patient while the whole crew figured out what to order. Jose and the kitchen staff were very nice and patient with the kids as well. I have a 2 year old son that basically toured the entire place and they were very patient with my loud family. The food was great, we ordered the chicken, apple and gorzonzola cheese which was awesome! My wife ordered the white pesto/chicken pizza which was cooked perfect with crispy edges to boot. We took them up on the Yelp offer of free carrot cake and also ordered their chocolate panini. I cant wait to return here but with a much smaller crowd:) read more

If I come back I might up my review. We ordered a salad, breadsticks and pizza and got the free dessert for checking in on yelp. The breadsticks were ok, the sauce by itself was pretty bad, very dry herbacious. The salad could have been ok, but both of us thought the house dressing was a little off/not balanced right, but we still ate it. The pizza crust was great, the sauce much better after being cooked. We ordered one of their standard pizzas and honestly it just had too many toppings for that style crust. So I give that we ordered wrong most likely. As for the dessert, they no longer make the nuttella cal-zone or the carrot cake they advertise, they have bundt cakes, that were super dry and the only redeeming quality was the sugary faux chocolate icing that it was drenched in, so don't waste your money. I think if I came back and just ordered cheese or cheese/tomato/basil I would really like the pizza and I might give them 4 stars, but only for basic simple pizzas. read more

Spinach and Artichoke Dip with Pitas ($6) - 4 stars - Small portion, but really delicious. Nice crisp on the top. Only had 4 pita wedges, would have liked 2 more. Reasonable portion for the price, but sort of wished they had a "small" portion and a larger portion for a couple of bucks more. BBQ Chicken and Gouda Pizza ($11) - 3.5 stars - The pizza is pretty darn good. I'm not sure if we got the thin crust or not, because I didn't request it, but the crust was pretty thin anyway. It had a nice crisp. There isn't a lot of toppings on the pizza, not a lot of gouda, but enough. The chicken could be distributed a little better on the pizza, and there are just a few rings of onion on it. BBQ sauce is a little sweet for my tastes, but overall it's a decent BBQ chicken pizza. We'll be back, maybe to try another pizza. read more

My Gorgeous GF made me a surprise and took me out for V-Day to Bricks pizza. I must say great choice. At first we were served a delicious appetizer, I had a beer and she had wine. After about 20 min we was invited to join a round table with Rick ( owner ), he gave a brief history about the pizza and what ingredients they use. And then he showed us how to make our own pizza by stretching out the Dough . We had lots of fun doing that and so were the other people at the round table. After we stretched out the dough , we were invited to the back to put the sauce, cheese and the toppings. And the employees only put the pizza in the wooden oven for a 900 degree oven. The pizza came out to be very delicious. But wait this is not it , Rick himself brought everyone Nutella strawberries with ice cream pizza toward the end for desert. What can I say, great place , awesome staff. Recommend to all of the pizza lovers and the rookies. You will enjoy your time. read more

I live in the city, but my brother recently moved to Wheaton and when I was out visiting him asked if there were any good "indigenous" pizza places near him. After a little googling, he came up with Brix (which he pronounced "bree" - he's snooty like that), so we headed over to try it out. It's in downtown Lombard, and I was pleasantly surprised. Their pizzas were very good, the salad my brother had looked great, they had a nice selection of soft drinks, and the owner was super-friendly and obviously took great pride in his establishment. These are all things I love to see in a local business (well, the soft drink selection isn't actually all that important to me), and I could definitely see going back next time I'm in Lombard. read more

Fresh ingredients, innovative combinations and great prices make Brix our favorite local place. We often go for their salads and sandwiches at lunch. they bake the bread in the woodfired oven and it is warm, crusty and delicious. I tend toward vegetarian so my faves are club med veggie and portobello, roasted pepper and goat cheese. They even make their own dressing for the salads. We love the touch of fresh spinach n the Greek-to-me salad. The pizzas, we usually get 2 and split them because we can't pick just one. I avoid national chains so before BRIX, it was hard to find fresh, healthy, fast and reasonably priced food in the west suburbs. And if all this weren't enough they offer local delivery in the evenings! We are truly lucky to have Brix, don't miss it (oh and it is immaculately clean). read more

This place has helped me survive rehabbing a broken leg! I am staying with some family nearby and it is close enough to crutch over for lunch on a regular basis. Their pizza is fantastic thanks to the large brick oven in the joint, but it is the toppings that keep me coming back! They are vegetarian friendly (provided you eat cheese) and I love the fact that they offer sun dried tomatoes as one of their toppings! I have recently delved into their sandwiches and have been pleased with the results. They might add a bit too much cheese for my liking, but I will work on that with my order. Came here a couple of weekends ago, and it was a great experience. Cant get any better than this! A few friends took us out for me and my wife's birthdays, and the space itself was very cozy. We had a baby in our party, but this place was very kid friendly. The pizzas were excellent: not too light yet not too overly stacked plus you can taste the quality of the fresh ingredients. My personal favorites were the Bricks Pizza, Margherita, and the BBQ Chicken Pizza (yeah, we kept on ordering seconds as we went along too)! The staff was great, especially Jan. She eventually hooked our table up with free desserts out of the kindness of her heart. This place is a MUST VISIT and more people really need to follow their example. Saw this review on Yelp for Bricks. Sounded decent and decided to give it a try. When you walk in, it's has a feel of a fast food sit down place, like Panera. It's a bit small and noisy. The decor is a bit colorful and scattered. Ordered one order of Its Greek To Me salad to share with the wife. Def big enough to share. It's a bit on the tangy side from their dressing (homemade?), but tasty enough. Ordered the Artichoke Pesto with Roasted Peppers wood fired pizza. It comes out about 12-14 wide. It's quite thin, but good flavor. Garlic-y, minimal roasted peppers and artichoke, but enough pesto to round out the flavor of the cheeses. Portion-wise, my wife and I were pretty satisfied with the salad, pizza, and drink to share. Bricks is a nice place for a quick bite to eat with a sit down feel. Really like this place. Super cute inside.Their pizzas are AWESOME. We went to Naples for our honeymoon and I gotta say, they do Naples-style pizza justice. We've also gotten their Greek salad twice and I love it. Extremely fresh ingredients (is there anything worse than ordering a salad only to find gross, wilted greens?) Don't have to worry about that here. And the salads are quite large, so they're perfect for sharing. We have eaten at brick's in Lombard since it opened and love their menu and service. We just had a party at our home with 30 guests and I hired Brick's to cater for it. It was fabulous! The sandwiches were awesome and I could pick the types offered on their menu. We also had salad which was filled with tomatoes, avocado, fresh mozzarella along with pine nuts. Sandwiches came packaged in these awesome slide open boxes, salad was in big bowls and included were chips, napkins, plates, salt/pepper, utensils and dressing! I really haven't decided yet....I'm definitely going back, but just to see if the pizza I got was just a fluke. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and very modernly decorated. Yum, smells so good in there. The menu is simple yet just enough. The pizzas are 12-inch, thin crust only. Which is just enough for one famished person, or a not-so-hungry couple. You can watch your pizza being made and baking in the wood fire oven. And it is served hot, fresh and much quicker than you expect. But...we ordered the BBQ Chicken with Smoked Gouda Pizza. And we got a cheese pizza with about 12 pieces of cubed chicken, 5 curls of red onion and just a pinch of fresh cilantro. Where were the big boy toppings? Also, they had slathered the pizza with so much BBQ sauce that every other flavor was completely wiped out. (It was good BBQ sauce, it must be confessed...something akin to Sweet and Spicy Sweet Baby Ray's. Good stuff.) But too much. And finally, for a thin crust, it was soggyish in the center of the pizza while the edges were crispy and nice. It was a little disappointing. Next time I'll order their home made tomato sauce, or I'll have a sandwich and salad. Yeah, I'm going back...I really want to like this place! None of which have struck my fancy and tickled my tastebuds like that of the bbq chicken and gouda as well as the proscuitto and baby spinach pizza at Bricks! I ordered the big Kahana tuna which is a cold sandwich and the bread was so hard and even burnt in some places so I could only eat half the sandwich. Enjoyed my first time trying Bricks Wood. Pizza crust had a very familiar taste -- very similar to a Sbarros pizza. Our party ordered multiple pizzas and appetizers to sample a few different things. They have something for everyone and you are able to customize your pizza to your liking. It was a little on the pricier side for us. Dinning area was on the smaller side but the restaurant wasn't busy, we had no problems finding a larger table for our group. Overall it was a pretty okay experience. I live nearby to Brix in downtown Lombard, and I my stomach couldn't be happier! Brix has that downtown vibe, with great funky combos and ingredients. All of their selections are very thoughtful and well chosen. Their ingredients always taste crazy fresh. I've tried almost everything on that menu, and it's all super good. I took my Dad there, who is very picky - the type that makes you want to put a bag over your head as he snaps for the waiter's attention when something isn't "just so." And, he loved it! A place like this is usually only found in the city, and this place definitely have that vibe. It's a nice laid back joint with absolutely FANTASTIC pizza. The staff is friendly, the food comes out quick, and the place has a good atmosphere. This place is very close to where I work, and I frequent it often for lunch. Bricks is a favorite of practically the entire office. The hot sandwiches are very good, especially the Italian Grinder and the Stromboli. This restaurant is head and shoulders above anything like Jimmy John's or Subway. Special note: I went in asking if they would still honor the free carrot cake when mentioning Yelp even though it was after the official date and they did! My girlfriend and I were in Lombard visiting her parents last weekend when they mentioned they saw a new pizza place on St. Charles Road that uses a wood-burning brick oven. We all decided that we should check it out and couldn't have been happier with our time there. The place was a refreshing change from the other pizza places in the area as the interior all seemed brand new. We started off with the Greek salad and everything seemed as crisp as though it just came out of a garden! With the four of us and their long list of unique pizza combinations, we decided that we would order two pizzas to sample the different offerings. I'm a huge fan of pepperoni, so naturally we had to get the Pepperoni with Banana Peppers and also got the Artichoke Pesto with Roasted Peppers. I've never had the combination of Banana Peppers on my pepperoni pizza, but I don't think I can ever go back to having a pepperoni pizza without them after trying this --- simply amazing and a great combination of spice! I also tried a slice of the artichoke pesto and could not believe just how delicious it was! We left overly satisfied and thrilled with everything we had. The last two times I have ordered with 45 minute delayed pickup, I have had to wait 15-20 minutes to get my order. I understand that you are busy, but is t that why I placed an advanced order? Food is good, but the employees don't seem to be worried about customer service. There is no contact information for an owner on the website to make my complaint known. So I've been to the Naperville and Wheaton locations a few times. My sister had an expired groupon for this location so we went here for lunch on a Friday a few weeks ago. I will say of the three locations, this one is my least favorite. The service was fine and quick and all, but they were OUT of bottled water, and when I got my margarita pizza, it had very little cheese on it, I don't know if it was cooked too long, or they didn't put enough on but it was basically like eating a pizza with just sauce. I live closer to the other locations anyway, but I was a bit disappointed in my visit here even though I love the pizza from bricks! read more
