This establishment needs an ID scanner. I'm 24 years old, came in with my family, and I was denied because my ID was bent; NOT CRACKED! I even gave the server three pieces of my ID. So this set up my mood for the rest of my experience. I ordered a salad with chicken nuggets, and my salad came out with everyone's food but my nuggets were not on it. I had to wait until everyone was half way done for them to bring me my nuggets, but I had given them my salad back to toss the nuggets in. So now I had no salad. Being annoyed was an understatement. No communication in the restaurant dynamic. Oh I forgot to mention when they I finally got my salad as I ordered it, the presentation was horrible. The dressing was smeared all over the side and just looked unappealing. Harrisonburg has a few staple spots and this might be #1. Sticky nugs with Sweet Chili Sauce.. you can't go wrong. Any of the sliders are great to mix and match and they also have an unique beer selection for bottles. Brunch is just as good with Chicken and Waffles and mimosas. They also have a great oyster shooter deal during the week if you can get a spot at the shucking bar to watch. Today, I was on the come-down from a massive hangover and needed some delicious food and bubbly orange juice. For brunch in Harrisonburg, you just can't beat Billy Jacks. Beginning with the hair of the dog, we ordered a mimosa carafe for the table. It definitely did the trick, staving off the hangover for a few more hours. Next I ordered the chicken and waffles benedict off the brunch menu. It was amazing. Under a perfectly runny egg on one side of the dish was two fluffy, buttery waffles. On the other side was a juicy chicken breast with a salty, crispy coating. I thought the combination of hollandaise, maple syrup, and hot sauces would've been too much but it all somehow worked together. (That being said, I wouldn't recommend dumping both containers of sauce onto everything. Dipping selectively worked better). And the green onions in the hollandaise was a nice touch. Had a great experience at Billy Jack's today. My hubby and I drove all the way from Williamsburg to visit Luray and Billy Jack's looked good. I'm so glad we stopped in. Our waitress, Taylor, was very helpful and patient as we ordered and made great suggestions. Our food was out fast and hot and everything was delicious. The Greg Brady is where it's at. Taylor also suggested The Dirty Girl Scout donut and I was not upset! She even had it wrapped up to go for me quickly and with no hesitation. Gave me a wet nap too which I was thankful for. The only disappointment is that there isn't a Billy Jack's close by. read more

It's a smaller place, but that is not a bad thing, since they were on point with beer refills and the orders are prepared quickly. The only down side was pay for parking, but that may not be an issue for Downtown Harrisonburg aficionados. Great food, beer selection and service. 12 small craft brews that were all exceptionally delicious and harder to come by than the staples you see at most "craft brew bars". Can I say it again? I LOVE their selections or beers and I adored even more that I could see all the kegs in the back that were pretty much up and coming to the tap.... I'll be back in order to try some of the amazing tock in storage. The food... well hot damn... for run of the mill bar food with excellent prices...the boyfriend and I were quite impressed. The 50/50 burgers were so fricken yummy.. we could have probably ordered 5 orders of them! The chicken wings with bbq sauce, cheddar cheese and bacon... holy crap! What a combo and the BBQ wasn't all sweetness either it had a nice little bite of hotness and just the right amount of sauce. We will be back soon... even if its a 2 hour drive. The only thing that could have given this place a five was improved service from the wait staff. We were obviously sharing our basket portioned food but they did not offer us our own baskets to eat over and they checked on us very lacksadaisy like... we were sitting at the bar... there's never a reason to forget us. read more
