    Spicy wontons!

Under rated and hidden! Came here for a couple days and tried the spicy wontons, came back 2 more times. Very clean facility, peaceful and great food!

I'm a little surprised a new Chinese eatery would open two doors from a large popular Chinese restaurant and a few blocks from an even more popular one, but I guess there's enough demand to go around. - Dan Dan noodles with Bok choy: very good, the portion ample. - Chili Wontons: one of their better dishes, not too far a cry from those at the Duck House. - Popcorn Chicken, liked, but didn't love it, but you do get a very generous portion. - Hand pulled stretch noodles: good and chewy, wish they would cut them...I actually prefer their regular noodles - Scallion pancake: above average - Xiao Long Bao: meh Street parking is tough in this part of town, but there's a huge parking structure nearby. Prices are budget friendly given the portions. I appreciated that owner checked on us, he was very nice

It can be hard to find a perfect bowl of Chinese noodles in Portland--and in my vast experience of eating noodles, Dan Dan noodles are my favorite. Here at Northern Taste, you will find a big bowl of hot noodles topped generously with the mildly spicy meat sauce. It is a complex and umami sauce and you will need chopsticks to stir it well to coat every strand. Most days, there is nothing more that I want than a bowl of these noodles from this spot. Same price as numerous food carts nearby, the restaurant gives haven to many cold and rainy days, along with great service and a full menu of other tempting items. I can't wait to try more on their menu but I know that I will always return to ordering my favorite Dan-Dan noodles!

Had some amazing wontons on my first visit here today. Friendly service too. Excited to go back and try the noodles I saw someone having, they looked incredible!

We had weekend dinner at the Northern Flavors and it was good. We shared some snacks and we also had our own main meal. It turned out our eyes were bigger than our stomach. The crab dumplings had crab and cheese inside. The popcorn chicken was delicious. The fried noodles with chicken was yummy. They were checked how we felt about the food and added water to our cups. It's a good place to eat with friends.

Overpriced. Food ok, but certainly not worth the money. Small portions. We got takeout, delivered for Christmas eve. $100.00 for 2.

I've had Xin Ding Dumpling House bookmarked for over a year, so I was excited to finally cross it…read moreoff my list while visiting family. Since we had our dog with us, we ordered everything to go and enjoyed it back at our hotel just down the street. Just a heads up if you're planning the same, there wasn't any outdoor dining available. Being from the SF Bay Area, one of the first things we looked for was Har Gow and Siu Mai, but they weren't labeled the way we're used to. After asking, we found out the Crystal Shrimp Dumplings are their Har Gow, and the Shrimp Siu Mai contains pork, which was exactly what we were looking for. We ordered two of each. We also ordered two Beef Chow Fun, Combination Fried Rice, Eggplant with Minced Pork, Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs, and three pear sodas. The dim sum absolutely hit the spot. The Har Gow and Siu Mai were well seasoned, nicely prepared, and exactly what we had been craving. The Beef Chow Fun was another winner. We were glad we ordered two because we found ourselves reaching for it more than the fried rice. The Eggplant with Minced Pork was also delicious. The eggplant was cooked perfectly -- tender without becoming mushy -- and the seasoning was right on point. I'm also glad we changed our order from the House Special Spare Ribs to the Sweet & Sour Spare Ribs. Unlike many versions, these weren't battered and fried, so the pork maintained a great texture while still being coated in a flavorful sweet and sour sauce. One unexpected favorite was the pear soda. It's made with Asian pear, so the flavor is much lighter and more refreshing than the sweeter pear sodas we're used to. The only hiccup? They're bottled with a traditional cap, and since we were staying in a hotel, we quickly realized we didn't have a bottle opener. Let's just say we got a little creative. One thing I really appreciated was that the staff noticed our large takeout order and packed it thoughtfully. They included six extra takeout containers, plenty of forks, chopsticks, and napkins, which ended up being incredibly helpful since we were eating in a hotel room with no paper plates or utensils. It's a small gesture, but one that definitely didn't go unnoticed. Overall, we were really happy with our meal. This place lived up to being on my bookmark list for over a year, and I'd happily come back the next time we're staying in downtown Portland.
