Good afternoon I wanted to share about an amazing experience that I had yesterday at BioLife in Saint peters. I am visiting from out of town. I'm originally from Arizona. I was nervous about going to a new center. However I've been going for about a month now and it's always been a great experience yesterday as we were all preparing for a big storm. I wanted to make sure to get my donation in prior to the storm.As usual everything went smoothly and I was lucky enough to meet Lily. Lily was the tech who greeted me as I settled into the donation chair. It was super busy however Lily took her time greeted me was very kind and engaging. We talked a little bit about the weather and discovered we are both big fans of I need to combat the side effects of the cold weather. Long story short it was a great donation. She was efficient kind and went out of her way to make sure that I was comfortable as well as all of the other patients she was working with. You all have a great team. I have been donating plasma for a few years now. Lately each time I go, it's a pretty chance that something will go wrong. I don't know if the staff needs more experience sticking patients, or if they need to hire more staff to monitor for issues during donation, but something needs to change. For the second time in two years, there was too much time taken during an arm switch, causing the blood to clot and me to be deferred for 8 weeks. That is about $1,000 I will be missing out on, through no fault of my own. The machine had stopped and was making a notification for several minutes before anyone came over. Then the phlebotomist couldn't get my other arm stick done successfully due to not putting on the cuff correctly. The staff pretty much just shrugged and said sorry...and walked off. I feel like there is some sort of compensation owed for loyal donors who have long deferments due to the staff making errors. read more

I am 21 years old, nearly a professional athlete, and give plasma both for the people I'm helping by doing so and for a little bit of side money. I HATE giving plasma because I'm weird about needles and how my body feels during the procedure, but still do it. Today, 10/06/2025, at roughly 6:00 PM, I went from hating it but doing it anyway to simply never doing it again. In fact, I don't ever really write reviews, but made an account and came here ant typed all this purely because BioLife Plasma St. Charles is horrendous. I arrived with my friend and proceeded with regular routine, since I've been here enough to just know what to do. Had I not known coming in, I would have received poor service and untimely help by a closing staff who seems to give very little care or acknowledgements to any donors coming in. They weren't busy either, half of the staff standing around fairly obviously just waiting for close so they can go home. Upon doing the preliminary testing/check-up, the man I wound up getting was extremely rude and ruined my whole night, which could've been spent elsewhere doing something I actually wanted to do. I was having a pretty good day before that point. He (African American male individual, tall, quiet) did not greet me, and just began moving. He immediately proceeded to doing the finger prick to collect my blood for testing BEFORE any blood pressure/heart rate testing. That meant if I had failed this test, I still got my finger pricked which I hate with a seriously burning passion. It is an extraordinarily uncomfortable feeling to me, but stomach it for the sake of ease for all. I failed the heart rate test because apparently it was at 116, but I didn't know that. The man walked away and came back 30 seconds later and just told me to go sit down for 5 minutes, which I did, still not knowing why. The verbatim quote was "Go sit down and I'll call you back up.", which I did without any protest. I was then called back and got measured again and failed a second time, but I had done no exclusive calming down when I was sent away because HE SAID NOTHING ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. I also have a naturally higher heart rate, and couldn't really even tell that it was high to begin with. By this point I was being conned out of my time. I failed a second time and he said, verbatim, "Come back and try again tomorrow.", to which I replied "What? What happened?" He then, as if burdened, rotated his machine around and showed me my heart rate at 116 when it apparently has to be below 100. Probably would've passed just fine if I had at all known to go exclusively try to slow it, but again, he said next to nothing up until this point, essentially sending me home with 0 dollars, 0 donation and *2 hours of evaporated time* out of my otherwise very dense and busy day, which I elected to spend altruistically giving my blood. BioLife's entire PR hinges upon messages they send out to "get people back into the donation chair", then put on a display of pure inadequacy, rudeness and contempt, and they seem fine with that culture of theirs, which brings me to my official recommendation for BioLife St. Charles: Do anything with your day except go there anywhere near closing hours (likely 5PM-7PM). They are not there to help you anymore, and their hospitality has seriously vanished. Day shift workers are a different story in most of my experiences. In my friends case, who passed the preliminary tests just fine, she had a horrendous experience as well, per her report. During her plasma drawing, she had an incredibly uncomfortable experience, with the needle slipping wildly with loosely applied tape, creating a very unpleasant process. The worker for her section appeared rude and, again, burdened by her presence, and having to go press a few buttons on the machine whenever it stopped working. So, from this testimonial, on 10/06/2025 past 5:50 PM at BioLife St. Charles, every FOH worker from the beginning to the end of the visit had been nothing but rude. I have worked food service for quite some time and fully understand the general attitude of food service workers near close. But they are not food service workers. They're doing much, much less for much, much fewer hours. They have 0 (zero) entitlement to behave in this way, especially directly towards donors who, again, are there entirely on their own will to do something charitable and make a few bucks. But, as of now, if they offered me $500 per donation, I'd tell them to piss off. Edit: they acted this way towards me, who is extremely unproblematic and very likely in the best possible physical shape to donate, with seamless donations every time. Imagine somebody else, like anybody who's older or might be slower during the donation process. It's pretty evident that they'd care even less about those people, too. read more

I recently visited BioLab in O'Fallon, MO. l had an appointment with a male nurse named Tim. While I've always had good experiences here in the past--especially with the phlebotomists' who are fantastic and the overall fast service--Tim's attitude was a real disappointment. He wasn't outright rude, but he definitely treated me in a condescending way, making me feel like I was beneath him. It's frustrating when a healthcare professional makes you feel uncomfortable. That being said, I like the O'Fallon location overall. The staff is typically great, and the wait times are fast. But if you can, avoid Tim. He'd be much better suited elsewhere. If BioLab swapped him out for Terri the nurse from the St. Anne location (who's amazing), I believe the experience would be much more welcoming. I still recommend O'Fallon, but I would suggest steering clear of Tim if possible. read more

Only been to Methuen Center and it feels like a circus ,few of staff members not professional . my time is not valued , machine dings that is done and they leave you hooked up And many times they attend patients that finished last first . Twice already i been pocked in both arms , nurse failed to insert the needle accurate the first time. Its been a week since last donation and arm still hurts and bruised in a very large area . no intentions of goin back to donate . read more

My first experience here and then second coming after were like complete night and day. I realize the first time you get a complete physical (and the lady doing it was one of the few good things about the experience - which is the only reason I added a star), but there was no reason for COMPLETE rude and dismissive staff on the second time back. Like others stated, I waited about 30 min AFTER getting sat in the back for anyone to acknowledge me. Their negligence compared to the first visit definitely caused something to go wrong and then caused me to become extremely sick and almost faint. I know this happens during the donation process sometimes, but I feel like it would have happened the first time too... nope. There was just that much better staff the first time. Won't be back which is sad because I was ready for that $800. read more

First donation, they try both arms and send me home with pay since they tried. All good. Second donation, everything goes well with just a little pain at the end when they're putting the saline back to rehydrate. Third donation, same pain near the end, and they explain that a hematoma is probably what's happening, so they say they're just going to stop the process there since I'm 90% done anyway. What they did was stop before they rehydrated me though. So they said they'd give me a snack and a drink and have me sit for 15 minutes. Before they can even get the drink, I let them know I'm already nauseous. Before I can even reach for the snack, I'm blacking out. I wake up being laid down on the bench where I'm sitting, drenched in sweat with ambulance staff arriving and ultimately need to go to the hospital because my blood pressure is dangerously low. About 8 hours of hospital time later, I'm discharged. I can't help but think there must have been a better option than to not rehydrate me at the end. Switch arms if you have to, use my wrist, whatever, if what I went through is the alternative then they should have tried about twenty other things instead of just not rehydrating me at the end of my donation. I'll take a long line, a long wait time, understaffing, I get it, I've been there, they're doing their best and I'm being compensated for my time so I don't mind any of that. What I mind is the brutal experience I had to go through due to what I see as a negligent choice they made, and the incoming hospital bill that I can't afford because I'm already at BioLife selling my plasma for money. Review moved from a 1 to a 3 because they are paying for all hospital and ambulance expenses. I just wish they could have helped me avoid the experience from the start. read more

I was directed to a section that had 2 other people waiting to start. The two donors behind me went to a section that was ready for them. I had to wait 40 minutes before starting while the 2+ behind me were in and out. this really needs to be addressed. this happens every time. the employee putting the donors in sections need to make sure that section is ready to get the donor started. poor time/appointment management. read more

I just donated my 2nd time , the process was very efficient, the staff is friendly , facility very clean . I was in and out in an hour and 15 minutes . The 1st appointment, takes a few hours because you need to go through a mini physical and answer a lot of questions before getting approved to donate . Follow the eating and water intake instructions. read more

Most of the staff are ok but the new biolife location in Fairview IL Has alot improvement needed There machines not sure what it is but I donated about 6 month bio life and csl never had not 1 issues went to fairview ht IL 4 out of 5 times air bubble issue and wasn't just me EVERYONE Most mine came from saline switch But I donr have that issue anywhere else I brought in someone first time donor wouldn't take them cause no appointment said we need go set up appointment come back so I showed him how do it waiting area she must got offended Cause 5 min later he walked up with his appointment which 10 min away she came over asked me to leave I couldn't stay in the waiting area was very strange but I watched her send away like 8 new donors because one reason or another while I was there I have 2 people new donors I took to CSL Instead I will not return to that place I think that host name was clarlish or something, Terrible service the place was completely dead also not one person at any counter But I will say MICAH does a great job there was couple others also I do not know names them all some staff are good it's not a complete flop If your new donor your screwed lol is about all I can say Try the st.ann one I never had issue there or try CSL or maybe wait year alot those people fairview way to green read more

Unfortunately I will not be going to biolife any longer. With over 300 donations there I have noticed that they are putting poorly trained people in positions where they have to use needles and deal with blood. The trainer I saw today was talking about football with 2 other customers while the man who was doing my screening had no idea what he was doing. Believe me I know it was wrong, I've had it done over 300 times here. Finally after having to wait for the trainer to finish her story she turns around and says, your hematocrit ir too low. She didn't even look and she certainly did not see the procedure being done because she was off to the side talking football. Back to CSL. I'm done here. Too many undertrained people. This place used to be good too. Oh well. read more

Two times I went only to have both arm stuck with negative results. Some of the blood drawers are inadequate they will leave bad bruising. Also, they should give you more advice as when to not come in. Going 80 miles round trip to only be sent home because of bruising sucks! Then there is the knowledge that they are owned by a Japanese company called Takeda is a little off-setting. Add to this that the company can earn a minimum of 5000 off of each donation really makes it seem as if the donors are getting screwed. read more

All I have to say is their "techs" or front end people need to be trained just a bit longer. To constantly be deferred because my "pulse is too high" when I manually take my pulse and it's under 90. I have a nursing background and would recommend they MANUALLY take a pulse rather than stick a blood pressure cuff on your arm. Also they have no clue how to finger prick, the most SIMPLE skill. I would love to donate and help others but definitely won't be back to this location. read more

I have donated off and on for over two years. Lots of changes recently; new techs, additional staff (phlebotomist) since Thanksgiving has helped the wait time. Everyone at BioLife in Shrewsbury is AWESOME! Facility is clean and for the most part - peaceful. read more

Today I donated plasma for the 1st time in my life. Like most of us my reason for donating was that I needed a little extra money. I ended up choosing biolife for two different reasons. 1st I have a good friend that had used them before and spoke to me about the staff being very friendly (and being honest today they were very friendly) the second reason I chose this company was because i found a coupon on their website that promised 900.00 dollars for your first 8 donations. After going thru my physical today i was asked if i had any coupons and i showed my coupon to the doctor. He told me that it was not a coupon he could honor and started talking about a fake coupon that was on facebook. I explained to him that i printed the coupon directly from biolifes website and took out my phone, went to the website and showed it to him. I was again told that even though it was on their site, and even though it was very clearly NOT expired that he could not honor the coupon and offered me another that was 150.00 less than the one that I had. He also encouraged me to complain about this. After this I am not sure why I did but for some reason i stayed thru the appointment and did donate even though I had a sour taste in my mouth about it. After leaving though, i started thinking more about it and the fact that it SO blatantly bait and switch started to get to me and I decided that i was going to email them and start to write some reviews about my experience. I think that i only stayed thru the appointment because i did find the staff to be friendly (other than the doctor trying to convince me that i had a fake coupon) The bait and switch preformed with this coupon though has made me decide two things despite liking the staff. One, to complain and see how customer service handles something very obvious and decides to honor my coupon. Second, that unless it is honored I will not even be going back for my second visit because its a matter of principle to me at this point. I would even go to another donation center even if it paid a little less at this point just to stand on what is right and what is not. (Bet i could actually find though i could get paid more) i would like an explanation from this company and i would also need to have my coupon honored before i would be willing to go back for my second appointment. This place just keeps getting worse. Had a 7:00 appointment but they were so backed up at 7:00 I waited an hour just to get to the first step . Just not worth being in there 3-4 hours for $20-$30 bucks. short staffed but still taking appointments every 5 minutes. I'm on a special come back plan $500 for 6 trips???? Not sure it's worth it. May try and finish out the 6 trips but I'll never go back. Three other places to go and they sure don't make you wait hours just to get in. plainly management is lacking scheduling skills. Here let me help.... if you don't have the people to handle the crowd maybe don't schedule every 5 minutes. I just hope others will see this and rethink donating to this poorly run business. read more

I do NOT recommend donating at this facility. I was accused of "cussing out". 2 employees and banned from the facility after inquiring about future appointment times. I had volunteered my time and my plasma at this facility for 2 years. I had left due to poor customer service and gave them a second chance and now this. I will start off by stating that I have been donating fairly consistently at this location for over 3 years now. Most of the staff at this location are nice and genuine people. However, the actual protocols and daily runnings of this facility are an absolute nightmare. I have read the other reviews and people have stated that the whole process from start to finish takes about two and a half hours and that is not an exaggeration. For instance, during my donation today it took 20 minutes (yes I kept track lol) after I had completed my donation just waiting for someone to take the needle out of my arm and be able to leave. It's honestly unacceptable. For those reasons and others, I will not continue to donate after I complete the current promotion I am doing. read more

I was turned away at the beginning of my first appointment because they were unable to find two accessible veins. (Totally valid, I get it.) I went ahead and rescheduled a second appointment where this time I made it through the vein check, finger prick, and questionnaire. Following the questionnaire, I was sent to a waiting area and was soon after pulled into a room by a staff member. This staff member proceeded to inquire about a hospital visit that I had listed on the questionnaire. The staff member then proceeded to tell me that they would need paperwork from my doctor and that once BioLife had received that paperwork, that their doctor would review it and that they would call me with an update. After not hearing anything for a few days, I called and left a voicemail requesting information about my eligibility status. They got back to me that same day and notified me over the phone that their doctor had approved my paperwork and to go ahead and schedule and appointment. Today I had that appointment, and it did not go as expected. I arrived at 12:40 PM and went through the exact same process as mentioned in my second appointment, minus the vein check. Everything was smooth sailing until I was again pulled into a room to review my information. The staff member (a different one) again asked about my hospital visit. I explained my hospital stay for a second time only to have her say that they would need paperwork. I then explained that they notified me of this my previous visit and that in this current appointment, they should have the paperwork for that specific hospital visit because I was notified by them that they had received it and that it had been approved by their doctor. She looked up at me confused and then said, "Hold on a second and let me figure this out." she then confirmed that I was correct and that their doctor did sign off on it. She then informed me that she had screwed something up on her computer that could prevent me from donating and that she was going to talk to her supervisor. She came back into the room about 3 minutes later and said," I'm sorry but you can't donate today and it's totally my fault." I could tell that she felt really bad about it, so I tried to come off as understanding. She did offer me a coupon for $25 added to my first donation (if I ever get that far.) It's just really frustrating to have it be your third visit and make it that far along in the process, only to be turned away because of a staff mistake. Looking back, I should've spoken to her supervisor. I doubt that I will return because I feel like my time time and gas is being wasted. read more

I have been donating awhile now. They say you get bonuses and incentives but as soon as they go and give you them something comes up like a speed test so you are out of all the bonuses. But it's always only when you get bonuses. Otherwise you don't get extra. They even screwed me out of a anniversary bonus. Then since I couldn't donate for 7-10 days bump me back cause I didn't make to platinum and now I don't even get a frequency amount of 100 dollars at the end of the month. Pretty crappy. But your suppose to save lives cause they need plasma. But your lucky to get 70 a week as they get paid big bucks Google how much they get and what u receive. Biolife shame on you if ppl get a anniversary bonus shouldn't have expiration especially when it's always around a speed test read more

What a great opportunity to help others! However,there is absolutely no need for an appointment as the appointment is rarely if ever kept. I have scheduled appointments at basis times of the day, but still wait an hour or more past the appointment time. Yet, if you show up early for an appointment, you are turned away even when no line is formed. As a client you are expected to keep your appointment time within ten minutes, but as a clinic it's okay to be an hour or more past a scheduled appointment. My time is just as valuable and I love being able to help others, but the business side of turning clients away must change. Pay the employees as encourgement to stay so clients want to return. It's absurd for it take three hours for something that should take half that time! Makes wanting to continue be a low priority! The upside is that the majority of the staff are quite pleasant! read more

Tried to log in and explained that I had a cut on my scanner finger. Assesser said "You'll have to set a new finger as scanner". Didn't try to get me into the system...just stood there. I just left...I may or may not come back. Been donating there for 3 years...but wonder if it is really worth it when I get attitude like yesterday. read more

Yes. They are understaffed. Yes. They over schedule donation appointments. Yes. Sometimes the lines are long. But. When donating twice weekly, the hourly rate is about 50 bucks an hour. The people are very kind and professional. Not to mention the donations help save lives. Those complaining need to take a step back and look at the big picture. read more

Unfortunately I have to agree, I arrived at my appointment at 4:40, at 6:17 I am still waiting to get attached. I am here second time and it hasn't been the greatest. Staff and everyone is nice, but I left at about 6:20, I just had to get home. Unfortunately I'm not going to be back unless I'm bored at home and have nothing else to do all day. read more

I started going here based on a friend telling me about why they donate at their Biolife center (in Indiana). I was nervous coming in for my first couple of visits but the staff is professional and helps you understand exactly what's going on. My first donation took about three hours because you go through your medical history and meet with a nurse before donating. The staff keeps you for an extra 15 minutes to make sure you're doing okay before leaving and then you're all set! You leave that day with your card with your payment for a successful donation that day. Every visit after that is about an hour or so. The staff is very concerned with your health and won't let you donate if your levels aren't right. You aren't able to donate that day but can come back the next day to donate. read more

Half the staff must of quit because it takes 2 hours to donate 1 hour standing in line and 1 hour donation . Not worth my time for $20.. They are always letting new people butt to the front of the line ahead of you. This place is a waste of my time. read more

This place really needs to get it together. I quit going here because of the wait times . I then get an email saying they want me to donate again and they want to give me $500 to come back . I go to set up my appointment and I can't get an appointment for the week of the offer. Typical bait and switch. I just went to my appointment that should only take 1 hour of my time for $20 and I'm stuck there for 2 1/2 hours. THIS PLACE IS NOT WORTH MY TIME . Just keeping it a 100% honest. You will wait a hr for questions and finger poke. Then you will wait a hr 30 min to be seated and stuck After that you will spend roughly 60 minutes donating Last you will get either 20 to 30 dollars for first donation OR 30-80 for your 2nd donation. read more

They suck. Showed up late first time because the app sent me on a wild goose chase and even after showing the receptionist, ( app still had me turning on roads even though I was in the building) I was told to reschedule. Came back two days later, because they are closed Sunday and Monday, was told where to sit, waited over an hour, went to receptionist and she said " why didn't you come up d tell me you were sitting over there". Well, one I'm a brand new donor, don't know your process and two you forgot about me. She tried to "redo my appointment" for the time I approached her and when I asked how long it will take she told me about three more hours. So, I've been sitting for 90 minutes, you tell me another three hours would put me close to 10 pm before I walk out the door was told to reschedule. But she wouldn't do it, I was told to reschedule on the app, which I did because I needed the money to pay my overdue electric bill, which is related to being out of work due to covid shutting down my place of work every few weeks due to outbreaks. Scheduled for the next day, waited 45 minutes only for the nurse to tell me, while I was getting set to donate that they won't use my arm due to scar tissue resulting from a previous surgery. Explained that I have donated before, had blood work, and IV insertions at a hospital with no issues, but NO. Was told " oh well" and could not donate. THREE times, driving a total of 42 mile round trip each time, 126 miles total, paying for gas each trip, and taking countless hours out of my day to be turned away three times. A checklist of some sort should be on the website or sent when an appointment is made, regarding issues of why you would not be able to donate. They don't care, make you wait, FORGET that you're even there, and there is no compensation for matters that are no fault of your own. I will be filing a complaint with the BBB and per my attorneys advice contacting the local news channels to put the word out there that this is a horrible company making a TON of money off people that may be desperate to find a way to pay their bills. DO NOT USE THOS COMPANY AT ALL. read more

So my first day there was 2.5 hours to get signed in, questions, small physical (basically screened for not an addict and that I could walk across the room), and then a blood sample because I was out of time to donate that day due to the first time donor process being so long. So I asked if I could reschedule and come back to donate... oh sure, just be back in 7 days... I asked three times... "are you sure I don't have to be here before 7 days to not go through the physical again" no... its 7 days. So I reschedule... Yep... you had to be there before the 7th day. It took them a 1/2 hour to get me that answer. So yea... Red Cross is a much better option. this place is a shit show! Basically, you have to have a ton of time and make this your job to be in their program... read more
