The best bionicos I've had! We got #1 which is the sweet cream. The fruit portions were generous and included banana, strawberry, apple, cantaloupe. All the fruit was so sweet and fresh. The sweet cream was the perfect consistency and sweetness -- not too thin or thick, and not too sweet or overly sweet. The granola mixture on top was the right proportion as well and added a nice crunchy textural contrast. For $10, I would definitely purchase again. We came on a Thursday afternoon during lunch and we did have to wait about 10-15 mins to order and receive our order, but the owners were really nice. Highly recommend! read more

We stopped by on New Year's day and this hole in the wall was one of only places that was open. It doesn't have the most wonderful interior decorations but it's suitable and they offer indoor seating. We ordered two corn on the cobs, cheese tamale, and a green juice drink. I had the bionicos con crema dulce, which was a delicious fruit salad with a sweet cream and topped with granola, coconut, and raising. OMG so good and refreshing. The small was $3.50 I believe. I also got a watermelon juice for $3 and my partner got the mango sorbet with chamoy. WHAT AN AWESOME BREAK. I LOVE THIS CITY SOO MUCH. I didn't have the belly room to try their tamales or the other sorbets/ice creams, but would love to go back. My friends and I were walking in the neighborhood when we spotted this new Latin American fruits and frozen treats shop from across the street. The unassuming exterior is highlighted by a bright "Grand Opening" signage and the place is a complete hole in the wall with a few fast food dining tables and a brief menu bolstered with a list of juices, smoothies, fruit salads, ice cream and tortas. We huddled around the ice cream counter while the owner explained the few conventional ice cream flavors to complement a good selection of homemade nieves, which is a frozen Mexican ice that comes in a rich slushy texture made with real fruit. This store first opened in February and is operated by a Central American who learned to make nieves in Mexico before coming to LA to open his own shop. There was instantaneous wow factor on the first sample so I ordered a double scoop of Guava and Watermelon Nieves ($1). Both scoops tasted crystal clear, refreshing, and robust in real fruit flavor. The guava flavor had plenty of soft guava seeds embedded and the owner did a great job at capturing the sweet part of the watermelon in the second scoop. I also sampled my friends' Strawberry and Mango Nieves and the flavors jumped out and sparkled. As for texture, it's similar to the poppy seed slush at Saffron and Rose, very smooth and without clumps. Overall, the experience was affordable, dairy free, with my dessert made with real fruit ingredients. Loved it! Service was friendly and down to earth. We were given samples prior to purchase without the feeling of being rushed. It was fortunate that we were the only ones in the store last evening but this tiny shop should not be underestimated for those searching for a frozen treat in the area. It'll be very hard to find another frozen treat as good as this for $1. I would love to return to try their Tamarindo, Coconut, and Lime flavors along with their fruit salads in my future visits. read more
