We hired American Heritage Environmental for water intrusion repairs, window replacement, and…read moreexterior weatherproofing. We made it clear our priority was getting back into our bedrooms quickly due to mold remediation, but the project took about a month, leaving our family of five in the living room. At times, the work felt rushed more of a "get in and get out" approach than careful, detailed workmanship. The window installation had to be redone due to damaged frames, and we had to ask multiple times to get it sitting flush. Interior caulking around the windows had visible excess material and was not properly tooled, and still appears uneven after touch-ups. I didn't notice this until after the final walk through, but on one window, the interior corner seems to have a hole in it or uneven seal after the 2nd install. On the exterior, there are areas with bubbling and "alligatoring," along with sections that were not properly blended to match the surrounding texture. One area was initially painted over despite bubbling until we pointed it out. Paint was also left on nearby fixtures, including our exterior camera. We also experienced a pinhole leak in a copper line in the same work area shortly after completion. While it was eventually fixed, there was initial pushback. We were billed for hauling and cleanup, but still ended up handling some debris ourselves. A partial adjustment was made after raising the issue. To their credit, they did return to address some items. However, the process required ongoing oversight, and we had to repeatedly point out issues to get them corrected. Overall, the job was completed, but the workmanship and experience did not meet expectations for the price.

I first reached out to Jaime and Antonio after several failed attempts with other "specialists" to solve the flooding and remediate the damage. They immediately came to the house and began to assess the problems, beginning with a plan to isolate the source(s) of the flooding. This initial step involved tarping the house and waterproofing the exterior walls. As the rains continued, we discovered that the house continued to flood notwithstanding the initial preventative steps. This sounds bad (and it was), but the only reason we were able to identify the source of the flooding was because of the preventative work done by Jaime and Antonio and their on-site inspections of my home during and after each rainstorm. Throughout this time, Jaime and Antonio stayed in close communication with me via phone and text, and were immediately responsive each time an issue arose (which was often). The flooding issues ultimately proved exceptionally challenging, and would require coordination over many months among American Heritage, the Los Angeles Dep't of Water & Power, my electricians, and my general contractor. As part of the solution, American Heritage needed to trench two sides of my house, install a French drain on one side of the house, install a separate drain on another side of the house, build up and waterproof the existing foundation, and remediate the flooded rooms (which included mold remediation). Throughout this process, Jaime and Antonio clearly explained the scope of each problem and offered proposed solutions, and welcomed my on-site inspections and questions at every stage of the remediation/construction. After their work was completed, Antonio and Jaime continued to check-in prior to and after subsequent rainstorms to ensure they had solved the flooding problems. This included multiple visits (which they did not charge me for) to ensure everything stayed dry. The value I received from their service was worth every dollar. House flooding is one of the more stressful and disruptive events that can happen in life. I hope it never happens to you. If it does, call American Heritage. You'll be glad you did. You will want them on your team.

Scheduling was smooth and they showed up exactly when they said they would. Pricing was fair and clearly explained upfront -- no surprises, no pressure. They communicated every step of the way, so I always knew what was happening and what to expect next. What really stood out was the human side of their work. They understood that this wasn't just a job site -- it was someone's home and a difficult time for the family. They treated it that way. They also took the time to educate me about the specific issues that come with an unattended death situation, which helped me make informed decisions and gave me real peace of mind. The work itself was thorough and professional. If you're facing one of these situations -- and nobody plans to be -- Bio SoCal is exactly who you want in your corner. Highly recommend without reservation.

Alan assessed the situation and immediately created a workflow to rapidly eliminate a biohazard nightmare. He clearly explained every step with a calm command of his specialized work in extreme conditions. He's been there and done that. It was a precision production by team lead Kyle and his crew, who also expertly communicated with those impacted by the conditions. They're genuine pros. "Look no further" can sound like hype. In this case: Look no further.

"Multiple Layers" of Deception and Unprofessionalism…read more.. In my correspondence with Gene K., a representative of Scope Environmental (cut and pasted from Yelp chat room) mentions "We can definitely help. Our asbestos inspection, survey, and lab results pricing is very competitive. It's $625 for the inspection and report. Each sample is $35. No other fees. Generally, results and reports will be available within 24-48 hours". Gene K. also mentioned the following "Some samples have multiple layers, and that can not be determined prior to taking the physical sample. You are welcome to call in so that you can properly comprehend the procedures". However, UNDISCLOSED FEES can creep into the price charged to the customer, e.g. such as the need to test "multiple layers" of one material; so, "No other fees" is (deliberately) misleading and therefore, deceptive. A field inspector (Daisy Flamenco) of Scope Environmental, arrived at the project site and upon seeing the area that needed sampling, asked the homeowner for a ladder to get her modest stature to the sampling material areas. When sampling the ceiling, Ms. Flamenco was barely able to reach the sampling surface (needed to be on her tippy toes), even with a step ladder (provided by the homeowner). ALL sample takers must come fully prepared for all conditions at the work site and not rely on the homeowner to provide tools, equipment or assistance of any kind to do THEIR job! Ms. Flamenco was dressed casually, no respirator or other appropriate protective equipment or gear, which is not only hazardous to herself, but sends the message to the homeowner (overseeing the work), that asbestos is really not that harmful. Even two and a half years following the end of the COVID-19 pandemic, it is appropriate if all workers who enter a home, to wear a mask or at least offer to wear one, but Ms. Flamenco failed to show the occupants of the residence, such consideration. Most (professional) people return to bad pre-pandemic habits, even if to protect the home's occupants from the common cold. What is really inconsiderate and unprofessional, is that Ms. Flamenco had disturbed suspected asbestos containing materials by scraping and cutting away material from parts of a furnace and its ducts, leaving the furnace and ducts out-of-order, i.e. if no asbestos or other harmful materials were found, the furnace and ducts could not be safely and effectively used without first repairing them. Leaving carcinogenic materials exposed (cutting, scraping or otherwise removing and exposing asbestos) to those who live at the work site, is hazardous and unprofessional and should never be done this way. Exposing harmful materials puts people and animals at risk of exposure to carcinogens and asbestosis causing particles! Asbestos sample takers should take measures to seal or otherwise cover, exposed asbestos containing materials (when they are through sampling them), to protect home occupants. This experience was a wake-up call to how incompetent workers can make a bad situation, worse!

We contacted Scope Environmental because they specialize in a wide range of services, including sewage and mold remediation. Veronika was courteous, highly responsive, and scheduled a team to come out the same day. Peter and his crew were professional, efficient, and thorough. They quickly extracted the standing water, debris, and sewage, then applied absorbent materials to the wet areas to remove moisture. They also installed heaters and drying equipment to prevent further damage. I appreciated that they returned over the following days to monitor progress and ensure everything was drying properly. Their support during such a stressful situation made a world of difference. I highly recommend this reliable, family-owned company for anyone needing this kind of emergency cleanup services.

Process was about 7 days and his pricing is competitive. He was very communicative through the whole process, and shared great documentation of the various steps. Very clean work and the repair in the ceiling looks seamless. My only comment would be that the house smells just as bad after the job as before, despite the process including an ozone generator. So alas, my problems continue! But Puroclean was great!

We interviewed four different companies before starting our remediation. When I had our first phone call with the owner, Ara, demonstrated professionalism, integrity, and genuine care for our situation. What Ara recommended to our home reasonable, made sense and something we could easily get on board with. He is reliable, trustworthy, and a great communicator--keeping us informed at every step and always making sure our concerns were addressed. I've heard horror stories from my neighbors about remediation- cutting corners, charging way too much. Thanks to the Puro clean team, we came back to our house cleaner than it's ever been. What really stood out was Ara's focus on our goals. It never felt like we were just another job--he took the time to really listen and understand what mattered most to us and made sure the restoration was handled with those priorities in mind. For example- I had my kids' rocking chair that I really wanted to keep, and Ara came back- no questions asked- to clean it the best they could, another two times. Thanks to PuroClean, our home feels like home again, and we feel safe in it. We highly recommend them to anyone needing restoration services.
