They did a fantastic job-- customer service was great, they were incredibly flexible, and had the highest level of professionalism. Their prices were reasonable as well. Outstanding once again. These guys are powerhouses! Needed to move a 5 bedroom house to a house across town. They came in and gave an estimate that I thought was a little high but after talking to Rikki he came down and made it reasonable. This is the second time that I have used them in the last 6 years. To be honest I was a little bit leery because of a couple bad reviews here. Rikki called me and talked me through them and explained his situation and that is ultimately what made the difference. To be honest, I called another four companies to come out to bid on the project. The prices ranged from $900 flat to $1400. It ranged from two guys doing the whole job to four. Some had alright reviews and some had great reviews. It came down to personal references, previous experience and Rikki being outstanding! They showed up on time with a big truck. Four guys that did not mess around. The lead gentleman was super nice and his communication was great. He listened to what I wanted done and what was important to me. At no point did I think he/they were doing a half ass job. In a matter of an hour an a half they had my entire house packed up solidly in the truck. I watched the whole time to make sure they handled the fragile stuff correctly and that they didn't smash or damage anything in the packing. They did not. They got to my new house and then proceeded to unpack the entire truck, put every box and piece of furniture in the right room and were completely done with the entire move in a little less then 4 hours. Hoping that this is the last move for a long while, but when the need arises, and even though we're now 60 miles away, I'd still call Paul for help. Paul and the team are FANTASTIC! The day I called him he came out to my house to give me an estimate. The number was right and I just had a feeling that Birch would be the best moving company for the job(and i interviewed many) I had an extremely challenging move and the crew of six(yes six) handled it so well and they were fast!. They showed up on time at 9am and I was in my new home 50 miles away unpacking by 7pm that night! These guys were great! Professional, on time, careful, hard working, flexible, friendly and honest. And I have moved a lot! I have had nothing but bad experiences with movers: charging more at the end than promised, charging for every blanket they used, tape they used and green cellophane stuff they used to wrap whatever they elected to wrap, bringing a comparatively small truck when they couldn't get a larger one--then charging for the extra time, gas, and trips etc. Although my move took longer than they had been anticipated, the Birch Circle Movers stuck to their price. At first I was concerned that Paul , the owner who bid the job, was not going to be part of my team, but Duke's The Man. He ran the show like a consummate pro going above and beyond the call of duty: He spackled a place in the stairwell that had been just slightly gouged AND offered to return to paint it. We had Birch Circle Movers move us very recently, because they were local, and I checked out the YELP reviews, and got an in person estimate with a maximum from Paul. I was a little concerned about a few reviews that were less than positive as they are important to read too. Most of those prmarily 3 star reviews and a couple lower, were older and on rare ocassion it might happen, with the usual growth pains of not always getting the right workers in place on every given day. I decided the predominantly 5 star reviews were good enough. Sure enough, we got 3 experienced powerfully built workers who were smart, knowledgeable packers and movers. They arrived on time in the mornings. With three flights of stairs I joined in by moving light stuff as I am used to going up and down stairs. I was impressed with their care, quickly packing the fragile stuff with blankets and the saran wrapping around them. We had lots of energy drinks along with healthy iced tea drinks like iced matte available. All three plus myself went for one energy drink in the morning. We had water too though they carry their own on the truck. I have a history of hiring young guys through the grapefine or other hired help and renting a truck, but I must say this was a nice move and took half the time! My wife no longer wants me risking my back and having uninsured movers, so I guess we will use them again as we have one more move coming in about a year! read more

We hired Birch Circle to move from us within Marin County in the beginning of June. Most of my dealings with Birch Circle were exemplary but a few things kept me from giving them 5 stars. I hired 4 movers for my move - the movers were on time, fast and hard working. They handled our things with care. They wrapped most items in a furniture blanket and shrink wrap, including all 3 sets of mattresses. Not one thing was chipped or damaged, despite my own hasty and crappy packing job. (When we moved from SF to Marin, I packed VERY carefully with bubble wrap and I had several things broken and chipped!) My husband commented that they were so fast that he could hardly keep up with giving them directions. We moved our own electronics/computer. Things that disappointed me - the estimate. I didn't receive the touted "not to exceed" estimate and my total bill came out to be at the very high end of the estimate. I was told four hours for the move but the estimator failed to tell me that their trucks are small and that while I would only PAY for 4 hours of moving time, the two trips back and forth, plus lunch would work out to be over 6 hours of time. I find this to be pretty unacceptable as the estimator actually came out to my house to look at its contents in order to give me the estimate. I would expect the estimate to be very accurate and I was highly disappointed that I wasn't told about the small trucks and the fact that it would take two trips. But overall, I was pleased with the service, would recommend them and would probably use them again! read more

Never hired movers before- but as I was moving for the second time in less than a year, I knew I couldn't rally my friends again...just not right. So, after talking to some locals I gave Birch Circle a call. Paul was very prompt in returning my call, and came by within a few days to give me an estimate. I booked him on the spot. Moving day was great. It was raining, but the guys totally took good care of our stuff- Wrapping everything in blankets and plastic. I was very happy with the professionalism and work ethic of the movers, both who went above and beyond including cleaning out my clogged up vacuum so that they could then vacuum under furniture as they moved things, which I didn't even ask them to do. Like so many other people, I highly recommend Birch Circle Movers for their friendly and utmost professionalism from the first phone conversation to my waving goodbye to the movers. Recommended by a friend, I contacted them in the middle of the pandemic and a few days before Memorial Day weekend, desperate to move my things from a storage unit to a newly rented studio apartment as soon as possible. I knew they probably wouldn't be able to work my move in before the following week, but they did. It was quite a stressful time for me, looking for inexpensive rentals during the shutdown; so I am especially grateful for the extremely reasonable fees and their calm assurance with my worry about it all falling into place. I had to move again this month and called Paul first because he was really great to work with the first time. This time was no different: I found Paul to be very kind and professional - easy to work with and easy is what we all need during a hectic time. He called the day before the move to confirm our appointment. His moving team moved my belongings from one location to another and the price was fair. The only reason Birch Circle Movers is receiving 4 stars is because I used a moving company a few years ago that set the bar very high. I'll have to look back to see if I reviewed them: It was a busy time. Let's just say that one of the movers at this other company was a motivated, energetic Tetris player which made this mover very happy. Great experience. Moved my father (86/yo) from his town house to our family home. He was very apprehensive as 22+ years of "stuff" was tucked into every nook and cranny. Krista was an angel. Organized, wrapped and boxed for two days while still finding time to pamper my dad and console the distraught neighbors who dropped by to say their goodbyes. Krista was instrumental in helping us develop hardened soles while adhering to the idiom, "when in doubt, throw it out." (We pretty much filled two dumpsters.) Three weeks have since passed and we have easily located and unpacked of all of dad's "important stuff" thanks again to Krista's super organization. I have used this company before when I purchased a sofa and 2 armchairs three years ago and the guys who moved the furniture were wonderful, professional, quick and strong. I saved the information for the next time I would need them and now am moving into my own Condo. Paul, the owner, personally came to meet with me and go over my needs for the move and gave me a reasonable quote. I then called him 2 days later and asked if would consider breaking the move into 2 separate moves, boxes first and the following week the furniture. He said "of course". We had a great move thanks to Paul, Bob and all the Birch Circle guys! We moved from Mill Valley to San Rafael with a lot of furniture, patio stuff, and even a bunch of heavy and awkward woodworking equipment. They are EXPERTS at finding every available nook and cranny in those trucks - my husband swears there wasn't a spare inch that wasn't filled. That means our stuff was well protected from shifting during moving. I know from experience that most movers are not nearly as careful. They thoroughly wrapped our new couch and all other furniture in furniture pads and plastic. I've not seen so much as a scratch on anything. Our final cost came in at about $100 over, but it was still a great deal and worth every penny. Okay, I'll accept that maybe I'm in the minority here, but I would RUN away from Birch Circle Movers, they are HORRIBLE. I also don't know where the Not To Exceed estimates come from. The estimate I received was about half what I ended up paying. Let me share... On the strong suggestion of Paul, I hired FOUR movers. Guess what, I got THREE movers and ONE stoner loser who was "working on barter" for Paul. For that reason, I guess he figured he didn't have to do anything because I never saw him carry more than one box at a time and mostly he cracked bad jokes. Next, they dropped a stack of electronics that Paul told me not to pack because he assured me that they would wrap it carefully as is, and it wasn't necessary to un-hook all the cords. Although the bookcase on which the electronics was SHATTERED they swore that they "caught the electronics" before they hit the pavement. Luckily, everything seemed to work except the cable box which was replaced by Comcast. They tore our king sized mattress because, again, they didn't figure it needed to be wrapped. Fast forward to the end. The move took twice as long as estimated and I couldn't WAIT to PAY THEM just to get them out of my home and life forever. OH and let's not forget that you always write a check to one of the employees, never to Birch Circle. I guess that's so they can't be sued for damages or something. Never again. NEVER EVER AGAIN. read more

Watch out for his slick taking ways. First they did not send enough movers to the job then they sent too many and tried over charged us $1,000. The job took too long and our things were crushed and damaged when we unloaded. They offered to make a claim with their insurance and then would not follow through. We need get our damaged things repaired/replaced and take them to small claims court for their negligence and unscrupulous ways. I would not recommend them to anyone. THIEVES!!!! Birch Circle Movers is the worst moving company! Not only are they not reputable but they stole my items, did not provide a proper inventory and then donated to goodwill what they did not want of my belongings. Refusal of providing proper paperwork should have been a HUGE red flag. The movers did not come prepared with the proper amount of materials and they supposedly do this work everyday!?!?!?!? Horrible, Horrible, Horrible. There was no prior notification and they did not follow California guidelines and laws regarding their responsibilities to the owners. There was no communication back from this company regardless of the number of times I contacted them and left messages for them. The owner is the most unprofessional and nasty individual and definitely not a business man who provides any type of good customer service! Stealing from the customers is deplorable and unlawful. PATHETIC If there was a way to close them down, I would ! The DA should go after these thieves! Zero stars for this joke of a business. Idiots, they're all idiots! read more

I picked Birch Circle because I wanted to support a local business, and I thought a small business might be more responsive. I was very disappointed. 1. The cost. They gave me an estimate of 6-7 hours and over the phone without coming to look at the house $1200 insisting that they did not need to come view the house. He actually said it would probably be less based on my accurate description. The actual cost $2100, 75% higher! I can see 25% off, even 33% off, but 75%? 2. When the crew showed up at the house, the all remarked how well prepared we were. Multiple movers said it would take between 4-5 hours. Everything was in boxes, labeled and ready to go. We've done this before. We informed them ahead of time that there were beds to disassembled and reassembled. I have done both to our beds myself in less time then it took their team of 4 professionals to do it. I assumed as professionals they'd be quicker. (One of the bunk beds wasn't even put back in its original form). 3. Incompleteness. We were not able to oversee both sites, and left the movers to collect the remaining stuff on their second trip. I went back the next day to find two full car loads of things still left there, things I specifically pointed out were coming with us. 4. Poor timing/organization. It took two trips. They probably could have taken a load to the house before they took their hour lunch giving us the opportunity to unbox and begin setting up. Or they could have split up, having some unload, while others tried to disassemble the beds. 5. They were all polite. I'll say that. There was a lot of wasted time. I wrote the owner to complain. He responded by phone quickly and apologized for his poor estimate (not t very high cost) and offered me 10% off my next job. When I balked he upped it to 20%. He suggested that I handle the beds, because it took too long for his people. My wife and I discussed it and asked him to to split the difference between the estimate and and actual cost, and refund us $450. Had he done so, we'd consider using them for moving back (in 6 months). He never responded, not even. 'No'. I can appreciate that estimates are just that, but (1) they had a chance to visit in person, (2) when they arrived they could have reassessed and let me know a more accurate time/cost, (3) they were very inefficient in the move. They made little attempt to rectify the situation. They didn't steal from me, they only lost a few parts (bookshelf, tv stand hardware), they didn't break anything, so I'll give them two stars, but I won't use them again. read more
