We have a simple move within town but still we want to be careful about whom we pick. My wife asked around her online mother group and lots of moms recommended MM. So I emailed couple of the moving companies that my wife's online group recommended, Sean from MM was the first to reply, set up a time for him to come by and look at the items needs to be moved, showed up on time, did a walk around and gave me the estimate. After compare with couple others, I decided to use MM. On moving day, Sean and the other 2 crew showed up on time, carefully prepared the items and moved them to the truck。 Once at the new location, they unloaded the truck quickly and finished in less than an hour after he arrived (again a very simple move) Overall a great experience dealing with MM. We were incredibly pleased in our experience with Moving Mountain. My girlfriend and I were moving from Oakland and Petaluma respectively to Point Richmond, and Sean (the owner) was upfront with us that Moving Mountain is a smaller company and so wouldn't be able to handle both of us in a day. Although we contacted other companies that had the staff and size to do that, Sean's communication and personality, as well as his assurance that he would be there on the job on both of our moves, sealed the deal for us. It wasn't the cheapest quote, I'll admit, but at the end of the day, it was more than fair. Sean was extremely personable and was communicating with us frequently and in the most pleasant way all the way up to the day of the move. He took an in-person tour of my place, and while there we did a video call over Skype with my girlfriend so she could show him her place and stuff that she would be moving. He asked for pictures of the new place and various parts of it that would be important so that they could be as prepared the day of the move as possible. Sean and his crew of 2 were promptly at both of our places at 8am, getting the truck and their equipment ready. They were extremely friendly, making just enough small talk to make the whole ordeal pleasant, without wasting too much time. Sean was like a conductor; you can tell he's very experienced and was navigating his two guys around making sure everything stayed efficient. I had enough furniture to fill a 2-bedroom apartment, and lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex with only stair access. The new place was a 3-story townhouse, with the vast majority of furniture and boxes going to the 2nd and 3rd floor. And yet, Sean and his guys were done in 6.5 hours, even utilizing the 2nd floor balcony to accelerate the process of moving by avoiding having to take a bunch of things up the first flight of stairs. My girlfriend was moving out of a home she shared with her sister, and was bringing a bunch of boxes and some furniture, and her move was done in 3 hours flat. Their efficiency blew us both away. We had so much time left over both days to get things sorted out and relax once each move was done. Sean even navigated booking Viking for us, a company that specializes in piano moving, to take care of safely moving my girlfriend's piano into our new home. It definitely felt like worth our money, when everything was said and done. I had a horrible experience last time I moved: the crew that showed up claimed to be contractors that had never met their boss, they hadn't been notified that the new place was on a 3rd floor with only stair access, and what was supposed to be a 4-5 hour process took 9.5 hours. So I was bracing for the worst, but Sean and his crew made it all easy and fun, and left us both very, very happy. I'd lost my job and was forced to move for work, and we were on a VERY tight budget. We didn't have time to move ourselves so we asked around and most people raved about Sean and Moving Mountain. We had him come out and give us an estimate and explained our situation. Sean was very understanding and explained what we could do to help the move happen within our means. Sean personally came out on moving day to do alot of the work and he was excellent! The main reason I'm giving 4 and not 5 stars is because the movers on the other end weren't so great. The Moving Mountain employee was fantastic but the kids they hired to help unload were very rough on our stuff and broke our TV stand and scratched it up. We didn't realize until after they'd left. If you can, try to get Moving Mountain folks on both ends of your move! Overall, we were very happy with Sean and Moving Mountain and would recommend them to others; just double-check who's moving your stuff at the destination location. read more

I was pretty organized with my move. All I really needed was a couple people to move the heavy items and shlep the boxes. Jesus and Theo did a great job. Only one large scratch on the hallway wall. I found out about these guys by getting them recommended from Bay Area Box Express (another great company). We needed help with a move from an apartment in SF to a house in Marin. The house is on a smaller road with poor clearance for a large truck. Many of the other movers I checked with only had 24' trucks which would have been too big so I needed to find someone who had a smaller one. Moving Mountain is a local company in Marin and knows how hard it can be on some of the hilly roads. Sean the owner came to our apartment in San Francisco and did an estimate. The estimated price was pretty good for what we needed to move and he also provided a not to exceed ceiling. Since I had warned Sean about access to the property could be difficult he drove by to check it out and ended up renting a smaller truck (at no additional cost to us) as his regular truck was too big. On the day of the move, two really nice guys showed up and worked non stop from 8.30 to 5.30 PM carrying our stuff up and down several sets of stairs. The estimate ended up being on the low end and we hit the ceiling and they ended up working for free the last two hours. This had mostly to do with having to use two trucks. The smaller one they had rented and their regular 20' truck. Only the smaller one could make it to the house so they had to reload between the two trucks to make it work. read more

My move to LA needed Sean and the team to load a large truck so that I may drive it to my new destination. Sean even texted me on the road to see how my trip was going and send photos from the Giants game he was attending. Finally, our mortgage broker, Randi Ryan (awesome!) told us to call Sean Morris at Moving Mountain Logistics. They came out and surveyed all my storage units and the loft and came in under all other bids! Sean Morris was out of town (moving someone) the week we moved last year. His guys came out on time and instilled confidence in me right away. We had a tough move from two storage units and loft in San Francisco to a townhouse in San Rafael (in record breaking heat). The guys worked very hard and protected our things well. Only one lamp broke and they promptly offered to buy it (I didn't bother with that old cheap thing). On short notice, Sean drove out early one morning to give me a free consultation. He was very respectful of my time and obligations, giving me a thorough (and accurate) estimate well within the time frame he quoted on the phone. The 3-man crew assigned for the job included Jesus, Kirk and Neal. This was the third time I hired professional movers and these guys really know what they're doing. Seeing how efficient and competent they were validated my choice to hire movers rather than struggle to move on my own with friends/family/day-workers. Wanted and expected to like these guys based on the positive reviews here, but our experience was different. (And no cheesecake either, damn!) Moving day went fairly smoothly, although the movers damaged a wall (and never contacted us about repairing it). We paid the entire not-to-exceed amount - plus generous tips - that day and thought we were done. Not so! Ten days later a bill for $550... claiming our not-to-exceed limit didn't cover "overtime," plus a bunch of other extras Sean had earlier agreed to waive. (So what DOES a "not to exceed" estimate cover, if it doesn't cover overtime? It didn't pass the laugh test.) After some run-around, Sean agreed to drop the charges, but I can't recommend a company that would pull such a money grab. And the "green business" label was pure marketing - they didn't even use recycled paper packaging material I provided. read more

Sean and his co-worker loaded owner-packed boxes, a mid-sized tool box, a heavy shelving unit, a work bench, and other shelf units into a 15 ft U-Haul truck for us. They arrived on-time, worked hard, knew what they were doing, worked well as a team, and got the job done. When we arrived at our destination, the load was still located just as they packed it, neither the boxes nor the other items had suffered damage, and the ropes were easily untied (the moving assistants at the destination were quite complementary about Sean's knot-tying expertise!). I have learned to trust that little voice inside and I knew right away that Sean and Moving Mountain was the company for me. I got 3 estimates, and Sean's was a little bit higher than the lowest bid, but worth it for my comfort and peace of mind I felt after meeting with him. Sean and Jeff arrived clean and fresh and right on time. They began right away and never once made any noises or faces that would make me feel guilty at the heaviness of the boxes and furniture. My previous moves (and there have been many) never went this smoothly and were never this organized on behalf of the moving company. The only hiccup was they put our king mattress down on the wrong side so we had to flip it ourselves later that evening after we had already made the bed and hadn't noticed.
