    Custom made toy for bird
    Alexandria M.

Took my conure in for his nail trim and wing trim and I've only went to them for almost everything for my bird and I live an hour and 10min away but I really love how they handle my bird with care I don't have to worry about anything.Super good people, family owned love the girls at the counter working today that did Stevie's nail trim and answering all my questions! I honestly couldn't recommend a better place for adopting birds! Getting goodies or toys I went home with a new toy for him today and it is the cutest and the treats are always very reasonably priced.Ill be back to get my girls nails and dna test done soon.appreciate all the hard work and dedication and TLC you put into each and every one of your birds.

Really great experience, birds are very well taken care of . I originally bought my one green cheek from them but I noticed when she heard my brothers green cheeks she would get super excited and really wanted to hang out with them . So I ended up purchasing her sibling/cage mate a week later . They quite happy to be reunited

    Sweet owl finches!

I have come here since moving back to Portland in 2019. I adore the funky nature of the business, the personality of it all, the knowledge and friendliness of the staff. They have such a great, healthy selection of birds, and I've purchased 4 owl finches from them in the past 5 years. I wouldn't go anywhere else, and now I learn that they offer nail and beak trimming as well. Hooray Bird Hut!

This is what happens when I come home

Oh man! This place is great. They have what you're looking for!! I got my new buddy Bagels from them about two weeks ago. He is the sweetest little guy. He loves to sit on me and has been by my side nonstop. They sell all kinds of toys, treats, cages and of course, birds! Give them a chance, you will not be disappointed! We will be picking up a friend for Bagels very soon.

Had my first visit to the bird hut today. They had a large collection of birds and bird accessories. The staff was very friendly and was very helpful in making my selection. They were friendly from start to finish; from when I called them prior to making the drive to SE Portland. The staff was very patient with my decision making and let me take my time. I would highly recommend the bird hut as a local shop for your bird needs. I know some people have posted poor reviews lately due to social distancing guidelines, but this was not my experience in June of 2020. I will be back soon to get some wings clipped as well as purchase a bird stand!

    Blue the happy bird!

B This place is MAGIC if you have a bird, or thinking about being a bird parent! I highly recommend coming here to purchase your bird/ bord needs! The owner is dedicated to the wellbeing of all the feathery creatures, helpful, and kind. Local avian vets I've talked to after acquiring a bird have also vouched for the excellent work of Bird Hut for having cared for and against health birds!

This place is amazing. It's in a funny little building and it's got lots of birds, but everyone was chirpy, clean and happy! My son and I bought a love bird there yesterday and the people were super helpful and very knowledgeable. The love bird (Appa) is so sweet and friendly, he was definitely worth the five hour drive. Highly recommend Bird Hut!

I had taken a new in-office job, and I didn't want him alone all day. I also didn't want an industrial kennel operation, like taking him to work in a factory. Those places tend to have a high volume of dogs and high worker turnover, and I really didn't want him around aggressive dogs or picking up stressed-out behaviors with inexperienced dog handlers. Wag Along is the opposite of all that -- a real home with a real yard, a section of her own set up just for the dogs. The owner, Mary Ellen, runs the whole operation herself, so you know she is the point-person for any questions or concerns. She's located conveniently right off the 205, perfect for anyone that passes through SE PDX. What struck me at first about this dog daycare was the pick-up and drop-off scene. The dogs surround Mary Ellen with happy tails, all of them relaxed. There's no barking, no chaos, no wound-up energy. None! That doesn't happen by accident. She clearly screens for temperament and knows how to keep the whole group settled. Cooper adores her. I call "dog school" and he lights up when he knows we're going. He comes home so happy, blissfully tired, and all smiles -- his Fi tracker shows he's logging serious miles in that yard. It's great after a long day at work; I don't need to take him on a walk. Cooper sometimes falls asleep on the drive home. Mary Ellen also has a mobile groomer come by to Wag Along regularly, which is a great bonus.... My dog comes home handsome and smelling fresh! Boarding has also been very easy. Mary Ellen asks for their daily food portions in a baggie, any special blanket or bedding, and she takes care of the rest. She also administers medication, if needed. I have planned vacations with Cooper staying at (what I call) "dog camp," but Mary Ellen has also been accommodating when a last-minute boarding was needed for a medical emergency. She's someone to trust. Mary Ellen is professional, communicative, and the dogs in her care are obviously well loved. I trust her 100% with mine. Honestly, if I could write Cooper into my will to go to her, I would. I'm back to working remotely; but Cooper is still going to Wag Along a few days per week. It's positive stimulation and exercise for him. I am not getting anything special out of this post. I am writing it because Mary Ellen / Wag Along is a gem amongst some real dog turds. If you're looking for a home-based daycare/boarding where your dog will be genuinely cared for and not just contained, this is it.

This review is delayed, but I never forgot the stress and horrors Mary Ellen put me through. I had a delayed flight, and she threw a fit that I would be unable to pick up my dog in the afternoon, as originally planned, but instead that I would pick my dog up first thing in the morning. When I showed up in the morning, Mary Ellen was outside organizing her recycling and refused to make eye contact with me, or say hello. My dog, she was locked in a kennel outside the gate with all her stuff. Immediately I noticed my dog had some white sticky goo on her backside, and when I got home I immediately bathed her. When I texted Mary Ellen to ask what that was, she said it was sap. I'm not even sure if she has a tree in her backyard. I worried (and still do) that something terrible had happened to my dog. And then, she had the gall to text me back and say I owed her an extra $25!!! Exhausted and stressed, and having seen how unstable and temperamental she is, I paid her in order to not deal with her anymore. Please note - the prices on her website are not accurate. There's a handful of negative reviews on her Yelp and Google reviews. These reviews are consistent outlining her cruel behavior to pet owners entrusting their dogs in her care, and lack of patience and respect - this woman is not well. Please consider that only because the negative reviews are few, doesn't mean they're not true.

She just took my dog & went to her station. I had to ask a person who was working on a dog next to the check-in area. He was very nice. When I went to pick up my dog, the person pretty much dumped him on me & turned away. I asked if he was good & she just said that he was ok. My dog was being seen for an ear infection, and I was presented with a list of recommended services totaling over $400, in addition to the $105 I already paid for the visit. I explained that I was trying to respect my budget, and said that I could do the ear cleaning myself, since I already had an ear-cleaning solution recommended by my dog's breeder at home. The veterinarian strongly recommended that I have the clinic perform the cleaning instead. I was told that their staff had the right equipment to get in there deeper and do a more thorough job. Based on that explanation, I agreed to the service. What happened was very different from what I had been led to expect. The technician brought out the exact same bottle of ear cleaner that I already had at home and performed a very brief cleaning doing exactly what I would have done, which took approximately 1 minute. There was no special equipment or noticeably different procedure. I was then charged $53 for something I could have easily done myself with the product I already owned. When I emailed them to express my surprise and disappointment and request a refund, I was told that because I had agreed to the service, they would not refund the charge. I understand that I technically consented to the service, but my concern is that I agreed based on the representation that the clinic was providing something substantially different or more specialized than what I could do at home. For me, this is less about the $53 and more about trust. When a client explicitly says they have a limited budget, I expect a veterinary practice to prioritize the animal's needs and be transparent about which services are truly necessary versus services that are simply convenient for the clinic to provide. I don't think encouraging a client to purchase a service by emphasizing specialized expertise or equipment that isn't actually used is an ethical way to upsell. I hope the clinic will take this feedback seriously, because I would much rather feel that I can trust my veterinarian to give me honest, budget-conscious recommendations than to use the trust I am putting in them guided into unnecessary costly services.
