Drinks are going to be drinking, Not that I've gotten that out of the way... I've always heard such great things about Bird Tree Cafe. And I hadn't gone until yesterday! Figured I'd go before the farmers market across the street in Acacia Park. I got the bookworm latte and it was so good. I was worried it would be too sweet (it was a little sweet), but the brown sugar cinnamon syrup they make really balanced it out. It was so good. It was creamy, dreamy, and the caramel was decadent. I didn't get any food--just the coffee unfortunately, but I do plan on coming back! $7.25 (I think) for a latte is a bit pricey, but the drink is really good. So if you're gonna spend a bit extra, go there for a coffee instead of Starbucks. Service was quick for a long line and the hanging plants and lights made for such a great vibe. Stopped in after hiking the Manitou Incline and needed a quick bite to refuel. So glad I found this place! The staff was super busy when I walked in, but they still took the time to greet me and were incredibly friendly. I ordered, found a seat, and my drink and pastry came out really quickly. Best. Latte. Ever. Seriously. It was a simple latte. No syrups or anything. Just good coffee and steamed, foamy milk. The space itself is so cozy and creative. They were literally getting ready to swap out the Alice In Wonderland theme for Ricky Horror Picture Show, and I was so sad that I was leaving town that evening because I really wanted to see the new look! I also had a breakfast burrito during one of my two visits. It was tasty. Smothered in gravy and filled with the usual breakfast burrito type fillings, it kept me nice and full for the next 6 hours! If you are in Co Springs, don't sleep on this gem. If I were local, this would be my go-to coffee shop. The staff is really nice, the coffee is amazing (need to find out who their roaster is. Bird Tree Café has a cute vibe and some solid menu items, but our visit was a little off. They're supposed to open at 8, but not today--we were asked to wait outside because they were running behind. Could've just been an off morning, but it definitely set the tone. Food-wise, there were some wins! The yogurt parfait was delicious--loved the fresh blueberry compote and house-made granola. The breakfast sandwich was generously sized and satisfying. The real standout was the breakfast burrito--huge and packed with sausage and potatoes. Pastry options were limited. I went with the blueberry kolache but wouldn't get it again--basically a small donut with blueberry compote in the middle. It was warmed and not too sweet, just not quite what I was expecting. Coffee was great! I had the drip and my husband got the Bookworm Latte with pretty foam art--both served in giant mugs, which we loved. There's indoor and outdoor seating, and the patio is dog-friendly with shaded tables. You can also bus your own table--they've got a station inside for dirty dishes and cups, which we appreciated. Bird Tree Cafe was recommended to me from Story Coffee when I inquired on a quick bite to eat nearby. I dined in solo, we all know how much I love a solo date. The menu is quite impressive. On rare occasions I prefer savory over sweet in the morning and this was one of those days. I chose the burrito. I didn't realize it was a "wet" burrito which always seems a bit different but nonetheless I fork and knifed my way through it. Delish! Hit the spot on a cold winter morning. But parking was hard to come by and wasn't free. I actually had to try multiple spots because the parking meters weren't working. Obviously not their fault but it wasn't a good start. The biggest let down was that their coffee tasted like it came from a packet and not a cafe. I'd been wanting to try this place for so long and had such high hopes but I left feeling disappointed. I worked from here for a few days while my daughter attended a day camp at the zoo. It was magical. The food/coffee was so amazing, I tried several things and was very pleased with all of it. The staff is kind, genuine and funny! Early in the week the ambiance was comforting, yet energizing. Towards the end of the week, I started to get a little jealous as the groups of friends, families and travelers were stopping in for brunch. The WiFi was also great! What a lovely, small place! With outside seating, this jewel can serve a fair number of folks. There are regulars and stop ins, and people like me who saw good reviews. The staff is friendly and helpful. There are high tables and low tables and outside tables. And the food is eclectic but yummy. They serve their full menu all day, which makes me very happy. I was greeted upon arrival and, when I asked questions, I was given wonderful suggestions about how much they could vary the menu. I decided to try the earlybird breakfast bowl, but wanted to substitute something for the egg. The counter suggested, either adding hummus or more avocado. My wife, Bea, and I have found some really good restaurants in Colorado Springs, but Bird Tree Café is not one of them. Although the servers are okay and the décor is stylish, the food is not great. We had breakfast there, which consisted of avocado toasts, chai teas, and a side of potatoes. For $78 plus tip, I don't think it is unreasonable to expect most of the items to be freshly prepared rather than just warmed up. Here are a couple of examples: Initially, I wanted a breakfast burrito, but I am not a fan of quinoa, so I asked them to skip it. They told me they could not do this because all the burritos were made the day before. I therefore decided to get us the avocado toasts. They were served on a baguette that seemed at least a day old. The side of potatoes was dried out and rubbery, like they had been fried sometime in the past and then warmed up in the microwave. I could go on, but you get the idea. If you want a good breakfast, skip this place and go to Susie's Westside Café (https://www.yelp.com/biz/susies-westside-cafe-colorado-springs) instead. Tejon Street in Colorado Springs offers a lot of options for shopping and dining. However, I'm a big fan of supporting unique, local, small businesses. Bird Tree Cafe is an excellent example of this. The minute you walk in, you are immediately calm and at ease. It is charming and cozy with many creative menu selections. We were welcomed the minute we arrived, and our server at the bar was cheery, friendly and attentive. My husband referred to his latte as "happiness in a cup," and quite enjoyed his BLT. My Hass Queen Toast was AMAZING! The plate it was served on was almost too small, considering the generous amount of dressed greens on top, but I accepted the challenge and just worked my way from the top. The guajillo aioli atop the dressed greens added a lovely tang, and the roasted tomato and ricotta gave the smashed avocados extra smoothness and flavor. I ordered mine with a fried egg, and the yolk from that only added to the rich and velvety feel of this combination. Bird Tree is was a wonderful experience, and worth a visit...or two. read more

Came here yesterday for a snack and wanted to try something different while downtown. Never really heard of this place so figured to give it a try. It's a beautiful cafe and with adequate seating areas inside to include a small bar. The apple Dutch streusel was so amazing. All of their pastries are baked fresh.
