This store is 100% AMAZING. It is clean, neatly laid out, lots of friendly birds and the owner and his staff are absolutely wonderful! I have a bit of a story on how I came to this place. For Christmas my son decided he wanted a bird. A cockatiel to be exact. I went to another store in the valley. Nice people but it didn't specialize in birds. This was my first mistake. We picked out his bird the day after Christmas and he brought him home. It was not hand trained. This was my second mistake. My son worked every single day with his bird. Reading to it, playing his clarinet to it etc, he was meticulous about the birds food/water/cage etc. After a month (so just recently) the bird would get on his hand and eat out of it. He was SO proud. We found his bird dead in the cage Wednesday night (this bird I was told was less than 6 months old). Needless to say he was pretty heart broken. I called Birdz and Beyond. We had a long discussion about what happened, the environment the bird came from, and the bird was in at and how he was being cared for. Some times things happen and sadly there was not much we could have done to save our little friend. My son decided he wanted to try again, and Birdz and Beyond just happened to have 8 week old hand trained cockatiels in stock, so off we went. The owner was amazing, he took all the time in the world helping my son pick his new friend, explaining care, and picking out all of the new equipment we would need. (Didn't want to take chances with the old cage etc). He was able to tell him the birds birthday as well which is important to my son. They decorated his new cage together, and my son was so excited to bring his new friend home. I will go back here for supplies, grooming of the bird and they also do boarding if you need to be away from your friend. He spent most of the evening last night cuddling with his little friend and making sure he was all tucked in and ready for bed. I am going to be a regular at this place with absolutely no doubt, I may even buy a bird for myself. These guys made buying a Cockatiel for my kid so easy and fun! They are family run, very reasonable and knowledgeable. I never feel stupid asking questions. They have great hours and they will clip wings and do nails, etc. if you call ahead to make sure they have an extra person working. Did I mention the prices? Also the place is spotless. When I had my birds and found this store it was my #1 store. Going to the bird store was a treat for me. Like a kid in a candy shop. I loved shoping there. Anything you needed, they had! They have awesome cages, cute toys for little birds and big toys for big birds. Correct food for your bird, not to mention tons of treats. They have birds to buy, also bird wing, toe, and beak trimming. They will even show you how to do the wing trimming. They have bird boarding for a very reasonable price. I got my pineapple cheek conure from them and take him to get his pedicure periodically. The guys are always super nice and friendly. Before getting my bird, I went to a few pet stores including petsmart or petco(can't remember) and those conures were wild Childs! The girl said oh yeah I got a conure from here and he bit my lip so hard it split open. Let me tell you, my bird has NEVER bitten me that hard. I know these birds are handled with such care, I could tell even when I held mine for the first time. My bird is so loving and kind with a sprinkle of attitude(as to be expected). If you are looking to get a bird, do your research, ask a ton of questions to the guys and come here to buy one. Also, I love how they aren't looking to just sell birds. They make sure you really know what you are getting yourself into. From a first time bird owner, having a bird is no joke. You can't just leave them in the cage all day and they look pretty. I will start by saying I do love this store for the two McCaws that live there that I love to visit, not to mention "Mr. Kiwi" in the back that I have fell massively in love with, but here's the problem. Every bird I fall in love with there "isn't for sale" or is a "shop bird" which makes me think "What birds are for sale?" Not to mention you can't touch them, play with them or anything. They are way over priced, for an example, their grooming is up to $15 whereas another reputable store in the valley does it for HALF that, NO MATTER the bird size. I'm not saying to go to PetsMart or Petco because they do NOT hand feed / tame the birds, but what bothered me is Birdz and Beyond claim to breed at "home" and then bring them there, but there is no proof. The other place I found breeds them right there in store and you can see them and witness feedings etc, you can even play with them and "try before you buy." This makes me sad because as far as a "store" goes, I like Birdz and Beyond, I like the lay out, I like that it's family owned and operated, but as far as customer service, prices etc... it feels more like a bird museum than a store. read more

Today my husband and I visited this store for the first time. This is a family run store and the sons were working. I had spoken previously to Derrick on the phone as I was searching for a new perch for my 38 yr old amazon. They were so helpful and pretty much have everything you need if you have pet birds. Even though we have big box pet stores closer, we would much rather patronize the local stores. It will be worth the drive. read more

In early 2013, our family decided we wanted to see about getting a bird. My Aunt has birds and used this store while she lived in Phoenix, so we figured this store was a good place to start. We hit up a big box pet store, just to price everything, and then went to Birdz and Beyond to actually look. This is a family owned business, which is always something we are happy to support. They helped us find a bird (peach faced lovebird) that is a perfect addition to our family. We recently bought a cockatiel, and continued to be impressed by the service. When we go out of town, this is where we bring our birds to be boarded, at amazing prices! The store is clean, and the whole family is knowledgeable and friendly. The prices are amazing, so much lower than a big box store, and the selection is diverse, but not overwhelming. Been inquiring about a baby peach faced lovebird and when they expected to have some in stock. I've been trying for 3 months now. Each and every time I called, I was told no, it would be a week or two. Or 3-4 days and to check back. This last call 3 days later was told they had some but not anymore and it would be another 2 to 3 weeks. WTF? Today was it! I have had enough of the birdshit they've been feeding me. I went to Pratt's in Glendale, where I should have gone from the get go. Found a young healthy peach faced lovebird to my liking and brought it home to introduce to my wild peach faced lovebird. The shop owner is very sweet, empathetic, and is an expert on everything birds. Everyone in this family owned business is vastly knowledgable on your pet birds and they offer the best prices in town! We purchased a Dutch blue lovebird from here who paired up with our pied peach faced lovebird and have had 3 healthy clutches of babies. The family even walked us through on how to care for the babies! There is not a single bird shop in town that cares for their birds and its customers as well as this business does. Went in one day years ago just to look around on a Satuday to get out of the heat and show my boy the birdies. Went back a few more times. It's nice to be able to support local small businesses, but it's just wonderful when they are as great as this one is! The first time I visited their store, the first thing that I noticed was how spotless the store was and how clean the cages were. They were very friendly and took the time to help me with all my questions. Today I needed something for my sick Owl Finch. They took so much time to give me helpful tips and show me what I might need. It was a Sunday so I didn't have immediate access to my avian vet. I don't take time to review places, but when you find a business like this, I felt like I needed to! Especially since my last visit to Pet Smart had me walking out of their store due to horrible service. Our conure likes to visit all their other birds! They take their time to get to know their customers too, which is nice for a change. I just attended this family owned shop. My wife and I took in our African grey named cocoa. From the first step we took in. We were greated and felt very welcomed. Omar was nice enough to share his passion of birds with us. He helped us and educated us on our grey. First, it should be noted that this is a family owned and run business. You just don't see that much anymore. They have a true love for all things birds. We usually go in to buy our African grey's seed mix here. We enjoy talking with everyone and getting advice. Yesterday we brought her in for a wing and nail trim, and everything went perfectly well. We wanted to see how she would do with their boarding services because we will be traveling soon, and will also be away for the holidays. Its so sad to leave her in her cage during those times. So, we left her to hang out and play with them for a couple days to get to know everyone. Today we called up to the store and she is having a blast. She is normally a biter, and hasn't bit ANYONE. She is making all kinds of sounds, and is absolutely relaxed in the environment. I'm confident everyone is caring for her just the way they love and take care of their own. I can never remember the owner's name but he was so great with her when they met. He knew exactly how to handle her. You just can't get a better place to take your birds, to add a bird to your family, and pick up any supplies and toys you may need! read more

My nephew and I came in for lovebirds. We had a number of different choices, and found a beautiful pair. The price was very reasonable, and the birds were in fabulous condition. We bought a small cage to transport them as we were going a fairly long distance, and the cage was disinfected, lined, and the doors wired shut for us to protect the birds. I happened upon this place when I was looking for a better cage for my budgie and I'm glad I did! I got the cage for about half the price a cage the same size was going for online and while there I took a look around at the other birdies just for fun. All of the birds look healthy and content and many of them are hand raised! They have a wide selection of birds and bird products all at very reasonable prices. a few weeks later my boyfriend grew to really enjoy my budgie so I decided to buy him his own budgie for our 5th anniversary. We went there and the guy there was extremely helpful. He talked with us a long while and let us play with some very sweet green cheek conure babies that were being hand raised. When I mentioned that I was thinking about getting a cockatiel in the future he took one out and let me hold it. This really stuck out to me because all the other stores I've been to, both big box and small business, wouldn't let me handle any of their birds or even take ten minutes to talk about them. Why would anyone buy something that can live 30 years without at least holding it first? It was for that reason I got a budgie instead of a cockatiel in the first place, but that was before I knew about this store. After about half an hour of talking and looking at the selection of budgies we settled on a stunning light blue English budgie. English budgies were somewhat ridiculously priced at other places but here, while obviously pricier than the American(standard) budgies, it was a very fair price for something beautiful that can be your friend for 12 years.
