I am so disappointed. I had very high hopes for this place. Me nor my friend enjoyed it. The food was nasty and cold. The service was non existent, but [[HIGHLIGHT]]the place was quaint and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I unfortunately would not go back.

Food looks good. They serve goat. Spanish speakers mostly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a family vibes with nice soft romantic Spanish music.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's smells like steel with lime. Great smell here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] You don't come for 5 stars. You come for the food. Service was a little slow cuz it's busy. DoorDash took 25 minutes. ........ The best is most expensive is the SEAFOOD BOAT $120

Who's over here giving bad reviews? This place was bomb. the consume was meaty and flavorful. The birria tacos were all amazing. I liked my friend's drink, although her boyfriend didn't, only because he doesn't care for grapefruit. The prices were decent. when you're done with your meal they give you a receipt with the address to the farm. It's about 8 minutes away from the place. I we got meat and it was everything I hoped for. The only thing was the elote. I dunno if there was too much juice or it was so hot it melted the crema, but it came out watery. Flavor was still there. I would come here again and again.

Location: Market, freeway and magnolia Parking: All 3 locations seemed to have plenty of parking Staff: we were helped by Kathy, she was sweet and very helpful. Wait time: none, starts getting busy @10am Seating: Both indoor and outdoor Price: Average Drink: went for cafe de olla, delicious, a bit too sweet for me but creamer helped. Also tried the agua de piña, it was huge and delicious. Food: went for the Charola Birria chivo and borrego. *keep in mind they add @$10 more for those meats. After all the social media hyped, I had to come check it out. Our day started really early to avoid crowds. We arrived at the Channelview location/Magnolia st. @7:30am. Their website stated they open at 7:30, but turns out they are currently under renovations. -Farm animals are at the magnolia location and they do still allow you to go see them and purchase cheese and other items. No restaurant service at the moment due to renovations. Drove to freeway feeder location as it was put closed location and turns out they open at 9am. Went to market location and yay! They opened at 8am. We opt to seat outside, it was empty at this time and we were the only ones until @9am. Kathy took our order, she was sweet and helpful. Location was quite spacious allowing you to enjoy time with your party. We order charola birria and it was quite a good size for 3 of us. Recommend calling in advance to confirm location is open.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Very aesthetically pleasing, exterior and interior decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Spanish/english speaking establishment. The food was made rather quick and full of flavor especially given the price. Will be going back to Try their larger meals.

This place is a gem! The juices tasted like they were freshly made, and the portions were wonderfully generous. The chicken mole was hands-down the best I've ever had at a restaurant, and the lamb tacos? Incredible! Honestly, I want to find the chef and kiss them for creating such a masterpiece. Parking was a breeze when I arrived, though I can see how it might get crowded during peak hours. I went on a Saturday early evening, and it did start to fill up as the night went on. Our server was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and efficient. The rice and tortillas were also outstanding. They were flavorful and perfectly prepared. I'm pretty sure the tortillas are freshly made. The only downside to this place is they don't have a lot of sweet options. We got the Caramel filled churros which were good but I'd like a tres leches cake or flan. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambiance was another highlight--adorable and vibrant with flowers everywhere, making the experience even more delightful.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing food, great service, and a charming atmosphere. I'll add I speak Spanish but my husband doesn't so I had to place our orders because our server didn't speak any English.

First of all. This is my 2nd attempt at this location. Both times were a disappointment. The food bland and not at all the jazz it's hyped up to be. It's all cute and dressed up, but the main focus is the food and drinks. Service was also lacking energy. Just a I could care less to be here let alone serve you attitude. Think I'll go to the 3 or 4 taco trucks around there next time.

This place is amazing!! There were so many birria dishes to choose from. Many drink options alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We had aguas frescas which were delicious. My beef quesadilla-birrias were beefy-cheesy delicious as they should be. The consome was perfect, full of flavor. Kids had the birria ramen, it was also very good. Huge portions. Our waiter Jesus G. was super attentive and courteous. The restaurant is busy, but the staff is on it!! We were shown to our table immediately. We were given our menus as we sat down. Our waiter Jesus G. gave us the available drink options. Chips and salsa were brought out as the staff blended the fresh fruit agua frescas. Drinks came out shortly. Food order was taken and not even 15 minutes later we were enjoying our meal.

Food was delicious! Service was good as well, I think they were a little shocked at how large my family was and panicked a little. But they were still on top of everything. Ambiance is like a hole in the wall restaurant, so it gave the positive vibes it had to be good. I will definitely come back again and food was priced very fairly.

The food here used to be very good. I would come multiple times in the same week to eat here however after not coming in a couple of years I noticed the food prep and portions are very very different. Our food was disgusting! We ordered huitlacoche quesadillas: it mostly had regular mushrooms & just 3 pieces of huitlacoche, flor de calabaza quesadilla: they left the stems on ‍ flor de jamaica: they used dried Jamaica, you know the kind you need to boil and steep to make agua de Jamaica! The flowers were definitely not edible bc they were dry and chewy! The fajita empanadas were also not good, the empanada itself was deep fried and you could taste old oil & the fajita was mostly nerve & super chewy. The lemonade was bomb though, I give them that, but other than that I was disappointed bc their food quality went down very bad. Oh and lots of flies everywhere.

So I came back to give this place a second chance. Annddddd .........Food was not fresh at all. I could almost say it was cold. I ordered quesabirrias which the tortilla was hard and stale and the worst part is they gave me a very small portion of meat in one taco. I ordered fajita tacos as well ... and it was all chunks of fat and it was also old meat from maybe earlier and was just reheated (poorly) Service was very much lacking as well I will not be returning for a 3rd visit.

"Mexican Enchiladas" more like tex mex.

We waited over an hour and a half for our food, only to be disappointed. It was nothing close to Mexican enchiladas and was served cold. Service was extremely poor and the food was not authentic Mexican food. I would not recommend this place at all. 0/10

Is the farm animals only in the Channelview location? So the one on Market Street is only a restaurant? And I heard there's no A/C, can someone confirm please?

That is correct about the farm. Not 100 % about the a/c @ market I ate outside both times. But my opinion save your money. I've been to #1 location twice and #2 once, and was disappointed every time.

Inside it is a one room eatery with counter service. My first visit was to try the Birria Burrito for $16 with the meal delivered about 10 minutes later. It consisted of their Birria meat cooked for 4 hours mixed with chorizo, cheese, rice, beans and sour cream all wrapped in a large flour tortilla seasoned with their special red colored seasoning. With the meal came a cup of consomne'. Guy Fieri would say, Welcome to Flavortown! It was delicious. The Birria beef was so tender and the flavored flour tortilla with that proprietary red seasoning they use was perfect. It was a very filling meal and well worth the price. So much so, I thought about it the next day. Another visit was to try one of their specialities, the Quesabirria for $14. This meal consisted of 3 grilled and crispy corn tortillas seasoned again with their special red colored magic dust. The tortillas had the delicious Birria meat and cheese inside and I again loved them. The tortillas are only slightly crispy and the meat, cheese and tortillas memorable. This meal also came with a cup of consommé for dipping. Another nice thing about eating here is the customer service. The lady at the counter was very friendly and helpful. The guy bussing the tables acted more like the owner than an employee with his helpfulness and the actual manager came out to check on us. Impressive for a counter service restaurant. Tacos Dona Lena deserves its reputation as one of the best restaurants of its kind. Incredible food and employees all at very reasonable prices. Since it was my first time here, I ended up ordering 1 chorizo and 1 asada taco, churros, limon aguas, and my friend got the asada taco as well and a hortchata! Since it was super busy (especially on saturday night) it was about a 30 minute wait foe our food but it was well worth it! They hand out free chicharrones and they were super crunchy and a nice snack while we waited for our food. The limon aguas was super refreshing especially in the summer heat and the horchata was really good! We sat at the counter top that overlooks the kitchen. I love that the open kitchen concept so you can see them making your food right in front of you! Everything smelled so good so I was excited for my food. I love that they give radishes, cucumbers, and plenty of limes on the side. I definitely love all of the toppings and the more the better! I tried all of the salsas and the salsa de chile de arbol was by far my favorite! super spicy but had so much flavor. The chorizo was good but a little dry for my liking. I did just want to try it so I can try more than one flavor but I think I would get it again as a breakfast taco with egg instead. The asada was my favorite of the two so much flavor and plenty of meat! I was content with these 2 tacos but I could have definitely eaten more if we didn't order churros as well! The churros came with classic condensed milk and dulce de leche which is just carmelized condensed milk. The churros were crunchy and warm on the outside and had a chewy texture like mochi on the inside! Super yummy and not too sweet! I liked both sauces and would definitely get this again. Overall, I had a great experience and I will be craving the tacos until the next time I can come back! I can't wait to try a lot of their other menu items as well. Definitely recommend!

There's even a security guard on site, which only adds to the impression that this place is fire. So when I happened to drive by on a 100-degree afternoon and found no line, I took it as a sign to finally give it a try. The small parking lot adjacent to the truck was nearly empty, except for a few other patrons who probably had the same idea. Ordering was simple and to the point. The menu keeps things straightforward: a selection of meats served as tacos or plates with a handful of sides. I ordered two barbacoa tacos with salsa verde. Less than two minutes after placing my order, they were in my hands. Fast service on a scorching day is always appreciated. With no seating available, I retreated to the comfort of my car to eat. Based on the amount of grease packed into these tacos, I would recommend doing the same. Eating them while standing could end with your shirt becoming an unintended side dish. One thing to note: don't count on a generous napkin supply. I realized after returning to my car that none were included. Consider keeping a few emergency fast-food napkins in your glove compartment. Those leftover Taco Bell napkins may finally fulfill their destiny. The barbacoa was flavorful, the salsa verde complemented it well, and overall, the tacos were overall tasty. That said, I left somewhat underwhelmed considering the crowds I routinely see gathered here during lunch and dinner hours. Perhaps I'm missing the standout item that keeps customers lining up daily. Even so, if you happen to have cash in your pocket and find yourself craving authentic tacos, this truck is certainly worth a stop.

There's a parking lot, but we went on the weekend, and while the interior didn't look overly full, it was somewhat difficult to find a parking spot. The restaurant itself is clean. Everything is pretty much green and white. There's covered patio seating. You order from a window and there's a large menu printed nearby The menu offers all sorts of tacos, meats, burritos, bowls, quesadillas, quesabirras, sides, and even kids meals. You can get beer, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks. There's also a breakfast menu The food was good, and it didn't take too long to come out. My main issue was the service. The individual taking orders seemed to have a bit of an attitude and just seemed "over it." Furthermore, we mentioned having a queso coupon and when we were given the total I placed my card on the reader and I was told that I did it too fast and the queso wasn't taken off. The odd thing was, we walked away and realized that they didn't add the queso and the coupon was for free queso so they could have just rung up an additional queso. This individual had the vibe of eye rolling everything, and it honestly left a bad taste in my mouth Some tips: You can order online to avoid any wait. Just go up to the pick-up window when it's supposed to be ready for a painless interaction There's a little bar area where you can get pre-packaged (to-go) salsas, pickled onions, limes, etc etc etc. the salsas are tomatillo, habanero, and jalapeño (I believe) You can order margaritas to go, which we did!
