Beef Birria and Chicken Taco
Annie B.

Food/drinks: love this taco chain in NY! It's my favorite chain and the only one that I've been back to multiple times. Beef Birria and el pastor are so good!! Wouldn't get chicken Birria Atmosphere: a lot more seating than the LES location! Service: quick and friendly Price: as expected in NY

These tacos were so so so good! I was shocked to see the consume was for sale separately but they let me know I wouldn't even need it. The tacos were juicy and flavorful with just the right amount of onions. The tortillas were perfectly toasted, wow. I wish I got some to go! The chicken empanada was great but a little too greasy. Inside is small but there are a lot of seating options for the size. Staff is friendly!

I've been wanting to try out this place for a minute now. When I saw they a video about their birria dumplings with consume to dip in, I knew I had to now make an immediate trip downtown. The place inside was bigger than I thought and it had seating for you to stay and dine in, but on this particular day it was freezing in the city and I wanted to take them and go. I also got myself some shrimp dumplings as well. Everything was affordable I didn't spend over $25 dollars and was happy for it because the shrimp dumplings were smaller than I'm used to. Customer service was good, I was greeted by such a friendly lady. She had such a pleasant smile and was happy to just have a few customers on such a cold day. Overall my experience was good. My birria dumpling was very flavorful especially with the added green sauce that was given to me. I also loved the consume because it was seasoned very well and didn't have any fatty meat like I've had from other places. The shrimp dumpling I've could have done without, it lacked in flavor and the meat was falling out of the dumpling my reason for the four and not five stars. Anyway I would try this location again because the menu had other goodies I would love to come back and try. Thumbs up for me and Happy Yelping!

Located in the village. Saw a post about the grilled cheese Birria sandwich online and had to try it. It's an intimate space with one long table in the middle with other tables along the wall with bar stools. When I arrived there were several delicious options to choose from. I was told the most popular item is the Texas toast Birria. Of course, that was my confirmation to order it. The Birria options are chicken, beef or shrimp. The sandwich was AMAZING! The beef birria was perfectly seasoned along with the cheese and the Texas toast was packed with garlic and butter. Honestly, it was a 10/10. I added the cilantro and onions for authenticity. The food took about 10mins to make and it was pipping hot. The sandwich had a slight kick of spice but not too much. Overall, I loved my visit. The food was perfection and flavorful. Highly recommend a visit. Can't wait to visit to try something new.

Oh my! Had the most delicious chicken tacos at Birria LES restaurant. It's a small place serving excellent quality of food for an affordable price. Felt as though I was in Mexico City having tacos and a great time jamming to Spanish music. I'm looking forward to visit here again and enjoy delicious and authentic tacos, and services by the delightful staff. Oh yeah, I do appreciate the Mexican artwork and decoration hanging up in the restaurant .

I had this back in 2023 and during that time, birria tacos were trending on social media. I had to go check out what the hype was all about and let me tell you, I was not disappointed. I got the birria tacos with cheese and a side of consomme and this was so fire. I just wished that the consomme came in a smaller portion because I couldn't finish the whole thing.

Tried this spot for the first time and ordered the beef and chicken tacos. Each one arrived juicy, deeply seasoned, and layered with flavor. I almost asked for consome, but the tacos honestly didn't need it. The meat carried its own richness and moisture in every bite. It's always a good sign when a taco stands confidently on its own like that. Definitely a place worth returning to. Next on my list: the burritos and quesadillas.

In search of late night goodness, they didnt disappoint us! The service was fast and friendly. The food was good too, lol. Fresh and hot. They were packed and there was a steady stream of customers in and out. I'd definitely return and would recommend them! They were clean too.

This place is now one of my faves in the city. The outside fools you, you think it can't be that good inside. Lemme tell you, these cooks know what they're doing. What a fun concept to mix Birria with toast or bread or dumplings. I'll come back and try more from the diverse menu. I got the slider, taco, and tostada. Tostada is ok, but the taco and slider were incredible. The slider has the softest bun ever. Friendly service with a smile.

Hot Cheeto Elotes and Beef Birria Dumplings

Stopped in for a quick snack before going to a concert at Webster Hall. Got the hot Cheeto elotes and beef birria dumplings. Both were amazing! The consumé for the birria dumplings was flavorful and delicious. Elotes could have used extra lime but overall was good. Got the food quick and easy. Inside is small but we were able to find seats Great stop if you are in the east village. Wish we tried the birria tacos, but will definitely next time.

Chicken Birria Taco, Consomé
Ruby C.

The birria tacos were yummy but they were exceptionally good after dipping in the consomé. A flavorful combo that you shouldn't miss. FYI all the meat used are halal! This is a great quick bite spot for cheap eats before I get my pay check. *Beef Al Pastor Birria Taco** *Chicken Birria Taco The taco shell was thin and slightly crispy. I was really skeptical about adding pineapples to beef tacos (I don't like pineapple...) but the fruit actually went along well with fresh cilantro and meat. For the protein choices, the slow-cooked pulled beef was so juicy and tender. We found the chicken a bit dry, but it still tasted delicious after dipping in the soup. Both the meat and the sauces served on the side weren't spicy. *Consomé (small) There were plenty of shredded beef and cilantro in the consomé, so so so flavorful. I felt like a small size was good enough for dipping, as it was quite salty to drink the soup by itself.

I'd been wanting to try Birria LES for probably the last 6 months. The Beef Birria Texas Garlic Toast Grilled Cheese definitely made the visit worth it. The garlic paired with the beef was genius. I need to try the sliders next time. I was excited for the Beef Birria Dumplings because social media posts about them was how I originally learned about Birria LES. However, after eating the birria grilled cheese, the dumplings just didn't compare. The dumplings were flat and soggy. While they were good, they didn't stand out to me. There was plenty of seating open on a rainy Saturday, but since we had a bigger order, there was a bit of a wait for our food. The sound of people dropping their glass bottles into the can by the fridge can be a bit loud, so I would sit further away from the fridge if that would be offputting for you.

Stopped here for lunch on a Friday. We usually walk by a Birria place on our way to Grand Central, so seeing this as a must-try we worked it into the schedule. Not a large place- which really no places in NYC are, but just enough room to sit and eat without being overly crowded. Got two beef birria tacos with consumé, as well as esquites and a couple Jarritos. The beef birria tacos were very good - and they got our order inaccurate so I got an extra one. Overall this was good - price point was a little high but worth it to me. Would return.

This location is convenient to Grand Central, Bryant Park, & Times Square. I was excited to find them after a getting off the Metro North. Unfortunately, the two times that I've eaten there hasn't been great, compared to their other locations in NoHo & Union Square. I'm not sure if the more touristy ambiance & customers makes a difference. First visit got the Pork Adobada Taco ($5-ish). It's similar to Al Pastor (even served with a few pieces of pineapple) but spicy. It's pork marinated in an adobo sauce made from dried red chiles (like guajillo or ancho), vinegar, garlic, and spices. The corn tortilla was very fresh & good but the pork was SO spicy. Some kind of chili oil was drizzled on, in, within, at the bottom. It comes with a sort of green crema. I barely finished - thought it was a joke or something. The second visit I got the Adobada (requested Zero spice) & a Chicken taco. The pork meat was delicious & reminded me of the first time I had Los Tacos No. 1. The chicken seemed like dark meat & was either over-marinated, slightly undercooked, or on its way out? resulting in weird mushy, slightly liver-like consistency. I even picked through the pieces to check for pinkness...the meat was just dark with little flavor. It came with a dollop of guacamole that didn't have much flavor. The corn tortillas also seemed slightly mealy/mushy & underdone. They weren't airy & slightly puffed as usual. I'll probably go back because their location and cost is convenient. But have to make sure the pork has No Spice & not sure how to ask for "done" tortillas. There's always a line at Los Tacos but it moves fast. The condiments & radishes, limes are always fresh. The staff is always pleasant & work quickly customizing your taco, wiping down the All White! hightops & refilling napkins. Don't think there's a restroom FYI.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

The birria tacos were really good (or so my son said) but sadly the taquitos were terrible. They literally just had unseasoned shredded chicken (but serves me right for ordering something so basic). The salsa also tasted more like tomato paste than actual salsa. But again, the goal for this stop was a frozen marg(s) and that mission was accomplished and then were good . The energy was flat, and that lack of enthusiasm carried right into the food. The menu needs a complete overhaul. I'm not sure if it's trying to be "different," but the taco options were unappealing just from reading the descriptions. I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. I'm giving 2 stars out of respect for the fact that people have to work for a living.

I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
