Santo Taco is my favorite spot in the city for a steak taco. Their steak trompo taco will always have my heart, this trip I added a shrimp taco to the order and it might be my new favorite. If you haven't been to Santo Taco and are seeking an authentic Mexican taco it's definitely worth checking out they do not disappoint!

I'm trying to get through all the places on my to try list and santos tacos was my next target. I went to the one in union square and happy that I did because I enjoyed the vibes of it all. They have a limited menu, but with the staples. I decided to get the carne asade, pork, and steak taco. The steak was their fan favorite and definitely the best thing I had on the menu. I thought the other tacos lacked flavor and was a bit disappointing, but not horrible. It just does not hit like their competitor los tacos. I would come back though! Definitely want to try their tuna tostada

If rather go to Los tacos #1 but a good spot still! Fun decorations to bedazzle your taco with. I got a pork carnitas taco just to taste. Speedy service. Nice dining inside. It didn't wow me, didn't regret it.

Fresh delicious tacos. There's a lady making the corn tortillas right at the side of the open kitchen, doesn't get fresher than that. Small menu but good variety. We had the steak trampoline (my favorite) , carnitas, carne asada and mushroom ( very good veggie option) . We opted for mini beer but they have spicy margaritas and aqua fresca. I love that there's a hand washing station right in the dinning room. The bathroom is located downstairs so if you just need to wash hands you dont have to make the trip down. There are tables/chairs in the front and standing tabletops if you just a quick bite. At the toppings station along with the sauces and pickled onions they have chicharon , that was a nice extra treat. Staff is really friendly, we enjoyed our time here and will return.

I heard this place was supposed to be as good as Los Tacos no.1, so I stopped off here and got a steak trompo taco, carne asada taco, and a shrimp taco. Shrimp Taco: WAY too salty, a little heat from chili pepper Steak taco: tender and juicy, not bad. Tortilla was meh. Carne asade : meh, wasn't bad, but not really that great. Again tortilla was meh. Also: Yelp says there is a salsa bar, there is not. You order the food that comes with the salsa. I told them I didn't want avocado salsa and told them I wanted tomato. They gave me a little, whereas los.tacos you can choose any salsa. Overall: Likely won't go back, just not all that.

One of my new favorite taco spots in the city! Get the first three on the menu as those are their best sellers and specail shout out to the one with steak smashed into the tortilla which was just sooo juicy, tender, and delightfully charred. The flavors marry extremely well together and it is BETTER than Los Tacos No. 1! The sauces are also def spicy and have bold and complex flavors. The chicken was properly tender and juicy as well, and the pork was also really delicious and a highlight! The free chicharron topping was a nice touch and the space was quite large - wishing them all the success and really glad to see NYC getting some much needed love to its suffering taco game. I used to be ashamed of our tacos while we tout amazing food from all cultures - Santo Taco helps fix that!

I brought a group of out of town friends here and we all thought these were pretty good but not to die for. I thought it was going to be a transcending experience but nah. I got shrimp and steak trompo.. solid but the seasonings weren't giving. I do love that they have chicharon at the snack bar. The design of the spot is cool though. The big simple menu, makes you want to order one of each. I feel like maybe I didn't try the right ones so I'm interested to come back and go down the list before making my final decision.

Very tiny tacos and way too overpriced for what you get. The tacos were very good, but I would need 10 of these tiny tacos to be satisfied.

Pretty nice and clean spaces. The tacos themself are pretty solid but it's really pricy at $6-$7 per taco. They do hand make the corn tortillas but it's pretty $$$

Upscale tacos with upscale vibes. If you're looking for an old-timey, divey taco place, this isn't it. Newly renovated, this spot has pleasing, bougie greys, creams, and pastel light green colors. It's very designer but it also felt a tad sterile. I felt a pang of nostalgia for something more cozy while here. The ingredients are fancy. "NY Strip", "avocado salsa", "shiitake mushrooms", etc. I tried a few of the tacos and they were delicious. Flavors were complex. Service was counter service, and was kind and efficient. Tacos came out pretty quickly. They are, after all, tacos. Bathrooms: clean, modern, functional.

Quick service and chill vibes in the restaurant. A unique feature is that they have pork skins for you to snack on near the dip station as you wait for your tacos. The pork taco was my favorite, but the thinly sliced steak was great too both came out very quickly, and it was fairly crowded for a Wednesday evening on a cold night. Only con is I wish they allowed order ahead instead of order in person.

Huge fan; decided to stop by, and I'm really glad I did. I ordered the chicken and carnitas tacos, and let me keep it short and sweet - these were perfect tacos. The perfect amount of meat + accoutrements ratio. The only thing I don't like about the restaurant is the seat situation; there aren't a lot of seats so it's kinda like the hunger Games (no pun intended), and I don't like standing to eat cause I'm in my upper 30s, I gotta think about my digestion. But I would definitely go back

One of my favorite taco spots in the city. Every single taco is so tasteful, savory, and full of flavor. The customer service is always great. I love how the store is set up and I'll clean it always is.

We had our usual list of spots in Midtown East, but this time we wanted something a little different. We ultimately landed on Mexican, however even then there were several spots to chose from. One of my colleagues found CdM, and since we had nothing to lose we decided to check it out. In terms of physical space at CdM, there is very little; this is actually a walk-up spot hence it is solely a takeout restaurant. The menu is pretty straightforward - lots of Mexican staples with a good variety to choose from. The burrito bowl looked good so I decided to go with that - I was given choice of protein (I chose pastor) and types of beans (I chose black). The bowl was really good - all the ingredients tasted fresh and they were generous with the portion. They added sour cream to the top of the bowl and it came with a side of salsa verde which I thought was a nice touch. We also ordered some bags of tortilla chips to share - these were my favorite kind as they were semi-thick and super crunchy. Overall, I had a solid experience at Cinco de Mayo. It definitely hit the Mexican craving spot and I would have no qualms returning for another meal.

The birria tacos were really good (or so my son said) but sadly the taquitos were terrible. They literally just had unseasoned shredded chicken (but serves me right for ordering something so basic). The energy was flat, and that lack of enthusiasm carried right into the food. The menu needs a complete overhaul. I'm not sure if it's trying to be "different," but the taco options were unappealing just from reading the descriptions. I managed to choose the two best-sounding items I could find, and honestly, they were so bland I don't even remember what they were. The setup and decor were basic. This spot could be a fun hangout, but it would take a better menu and staff who actually seem to care. It feels like just another restaurant that's lost sight of creating an actual experience for guests. The lack of vibe is obvious--if you don't want customers, just say so. I'm giving 2 stars out of respect for the fact that people have to work for a living.

I had to drink my frozen Patron Margarita standing up until a space at the bar open up after 20-25 minutes. Once seated, my area wasn't properly cleaned. I felt awkward and uncomfortable. I reluctantly ordered fish tacos with mild guacamole but was given spicy guacamole. The fish tacos were a little cold. The service was rushed. I left without ordering another drink or more food. I didn't see any but saw buckets for umbrellas. I opted not to leave it there since I didn't wanna forget or risk someone taking it. I took it upstairs with me. My friend had arrived and was seated. Apparently, they do offer sleeves because she got one. But the 3 people who were at the hostess booth failed to offer me one. The beautiful ambiance will get your attention immediately. It is a stunning space. The tableware was gorgeous as well. We waited for our last friend to arrive who was almost half an hour late before ordering (we thought she'd arrive sooner). Our server, Matias was gracious about it the whole time. What we ordered: Drinks: Passionfruit Margaritas & Mojito - we were happy with them. Tlayudas, Guacamole y Salsas - this was really good and a great option for the table to share. The homemade chips alone were excellent. Liked all the different dips. Guac could've used some cilantro and more acid/spice. Tán Ceviche - I loved this. Super fresh and great flavor. Could use a touch of acid. My entree was the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas - This was pretty good. The sauce could've used some spice and some acid to cut through the richness. My friend ordered the Yellow Corn Soup as part of her meal and she did not like it. She said it was too sweet which I thought was strange. I tried a spoonful and I agreed with her. It needed a savory note and again, acid would've done wonders. Also, the crab was a bit fishy in this. She enjoyed her tamal though. I tried a touch of the sauce and it was delish. My other friend had the Quesabirria which she was also happy with. To sum up: Ambiance: 5/5 The space is undoubtedly gorgeous. Food: 4/5 Beautiful presentation on everything but each dish lacks an element or two to make it a home run. Staff: Wait staff 5/5. Downstairs staff (greeters/hostess) 4/5. Needs to be more on point like offering customers sleeves for umbrellas or pointing out the buckets to put them in. At some point through our entrees a group of 3 women were doing a 10-minute photo shoot by the stairway where our table was. Absolutely inappropriate behavior and a manager should've stopped it. Camera flashes all up in our faces while we're eating wasn't cool. Overall, still a great elevated Mexican cuisine option. The slight tweaks would make this a 5 star place for me. I'd return to try more things.

Personally, if it wasn't for the drinks and the space, I cant say this place is worth it - you're not coming here for the food. Another little complaint I have is the women's restroom on the second floor - right by the door is a floor to ceiling mirror which I understand was included to make the space seem bigger, but my friends and I agreed that it is a little misleading - I kept wanting to walk into it thinking there was more space there and not wall. I would recommend maybe putting a decal on it to clearly show its mirror.
