They serve South Indian dishes which is somewhat different than our other Indian restaurants. Spices are great. read more

Had lunch at Thalaivas with three friends. The food was absolutely delicious and the service and ambiance were perfect.

Plenty of vegetarian/vegan options. Portions were large, food was very good. Menu wasn't very descriptive, but staff was happy to answer our questions. Ordered extra spicy, was unfortunately not very spicy. Everything seemed clean, staff was attentive. read more

I saw the "Just Opened" sign in the window and went for dinner on a Friday night. The food was terrific! Try the chicken or lamb curry. It is South Indian, so rather spicy, but they will season to your taste. read more

Saw this last weekend while driving by and stopped in for dinner. The Apollo fish and the paneer biryani are amazing. Can't wait to go back and try more South Indian dishes. I hope they add a thali soon as well. Don't think they have thali yet though they have the board outside say so. read more

Food was amazing. Sauces were to die for and the meat was delicious and tender. Tables were nice and we were very easily able to share each of our dishes with each other. Service was amazing, though the restaurant was pretty empty. The restaurant was also filled with very nice decorations and was very cozy. My family loves South Indian food, so we were excited to eat here. The menu looked great. My son has a severe tree nut allergy, which we communicated to out server who seemed very competent, professional and understanding. When taking our order, he went back to the kitchen a couple times to speak with the chef and identify which menu items were okay for my son to eat. We've been to many Indian restaurants in the area and never had problems after having similar conversations with the serving staff/ kitchen. Unfortunately, 5 minutes into our meal, my son started experiencing an allergic reaction and we had to leave quickly, administer the epi-pen and go to the emergency room at UW -Hospital where we spent several hours to ensure my son would be okay. This reaction has only happened a couple of times and is frightening when it does. A couple days after the incident, I called to speak to the manager and was given a number to call. When I called, the man I spoke with said that he had fired both our waiter and the manager after this incident, which I thought was unfortunate, as I don't think either was to blame. When I mentioned that the problem could have been due to cross-contamination or other kitchen practices, I was emphatically told that wasn't possible. When I mentioned that we were not able to enjoy our meal and suggested that he consider refunding the price of our dinner, he agreed, but several days later, the charges were still on my credit card account, so I disputed the charge. We drove past the restaurant the other night and were pleased to see the hostess was still there, and hopefully the waiter is still there as well. I write this to warn others with food allergies that this restaurant does not yet seem capable of accommodating food allergy requests despite what they might write on their menu or website. read more
