My husband and I are huge fans of Indian food, so we stopped in for a Sunday lunch after seeing this place off of Grand Avenue. While the service is a little stilted, the food was fantastic and served promptly. I ordered mutter paneer (my favorite dish) and palak paneer, both with a side of their saffron rice. My husband ordered Karahi Gosht, goat meat cooked in a garlic, tomato, spicy stew with a side of saffron rice and garlic naan. He also ordered spring rolls for an appetizer, which I will say I was surprised to see on the menu as I associate that with a more Thai cuisine? But hey, he said they were good and were served with two different dipping sauces. My husband LOVED everything he ordered; the curry sauce with the goat was delicious, perfectly spicy (although he has a higher tolerance than I do) and the garlic naan was incredible. It was soft and had green onion pieces inside the actual bread. Very well made. I absolutely loved the mutter paneer, even if it was a little more spicy than I'm used to associating with this dish. I also ordered the palak paneer because it's another dish that I have been wanting to try. I'm not sure what I think about it, it had a unique flavor and was good but it was way too spicy for me. I won't reorder this when we go back, but it wasn't bad. The saffron rice is also incredible. I wasn't able to finish all of the food, so we left with quite a bit of leftovers for later, which was nice! Everything was very filling and tasty. The manager was present but not obtrusive or pushy and the restaurant had a nice amount of foot traffic and dining traffic. I am always suspicious when a place is dead, especially on a Sunday during lunch hours. I will be returning to Biryani Pointe, and I look forward to trying other dishes on their menu! read more

I was surprised to find this little gem of a restaurant. Though the decor is basic, the food is flavorful and the price is right! I was with a small group. A couple had never had Indian food before, and a couple others were vegetarian. We had the veggie samosas, aloo gobi (cauliflower), baigan (eggplant), chicken masala, fish biryani, and several orders of naan. The novices thought the cauliflower and eggplant dishes were on the spicy side, but I found all the dishes to be tasty and spiced right for me. But, admittedly, I like spice! When I go out to eat--we go not just for the food but for the service. Because our first choice had a 30 minute wait, we ended up here. We had the chicken tikka and the butter chicken along with some naan and saffron rice. The chicken tikka was excellent! But the butter chicken was fair--the naan was definitely sub-par...I get better naan from Trader Joe's frozen section. This was the 2nd time I went there.... 1st time I ordered food for pick up ...was told it was just made.....it was frozen/thawed food and when I called back, he told me it got cold on my way back. I live literally about 2 mins from there.... So, went back again the 2nd time.....Briyanni to go.....well...I'm from Asia, and know what Briyanni should taste like....this was the worst....EVER!!! However, I wasn't too crazy about the butter chicken, it wasn't very flavorful and didn't have that typical butter chicken taste. Very disappointing chicken biryani and salt lassi. Although portion was good, something wasn't right. Lassi was very sour and I couldn't have more than a sip. Chicken biryani was served hot but the masala was weird. Not very well mixed. Tasted like the rice and the masala were cooked separately. Although when mixed together, and served with Salan gravy and yogurt it tasted normal. But very ordinary. Service was okay. Didn't like the ambiance :/. Good food and good service. Here are the positives: Not a lot of the places have chicken or meat samosa and they do so that's a plus. They have the traditional indian and pakistani foods like chicken tikka masala and Bryani but in addition they have Mediterranean dishes like shawarma and gyro so that's another plus. Most places have regular basmati rice but they have pilaf rice so if you only want straight basmati this will be ok also. Naan was good and chapati was good also. Negatives: Small place so if this gets popular then wait times will go up. Rice is not included in the meal so that's an extra expense. Prices are a little high. Overall a good experience. read more

Sorry, but apparently we were not expecting the differences in Pakistani-style Indian cuisine. Didn't order a biriyani, which, in hindsight, I guess we should have. Ordered our usual Indian dishes, but each one was way below par. Found odd items in the dishes: Whole bones in the chicken korma, whole eggplants in the benghan bharta, and puddles of grease on top of the serving dishes. Had to ask three times for rice, which our server did not understand. Lastly, who puts kheer through a blender before serving it? Extremely disappointed with the food quality, and the service was inexplicably difficult to communicate with. Never going back. read more

I had the most exceptional service experience at Biryani Point and I don't want it to go unnoticed. My boyfriend and I live very close to Biryani Point and finally decided to try it out. We are admittedly not familiar with Indian/Pakistani food (except for a few dishes we have tried/cooked in the past), so we didn't really have any expectations going in. We decided to order online and pick up in store. We placed an order for two dishes and a couple sides of rice and naan. I ordered the Butter Chicken. My boyfriend ordered the Kadai Chicken and, as he does with every dish at any restaurant, asked for no tomatoes since he doesn't like chunks/pieces of tomato. After placing our order, we had a wait time of 20 minutes. When we went to pick it up, I waited in the car as my boyfriend went inside to get the food. When he came out, he immediately told me about the exceptional experience he had in the short time he was inside. When he arrived, the owner (presumably?) or one of the staff members immediately shook his hand and was very warm and welcoming. After my boyfriend told him about our pickup order, the man explained that the Kadai Chicken dish was made with tomatoes (I think it was a major component of the sauce) so it wasn't possible to omit tomatoes. As I mentioned, we are not familiar with Indian/Pakistani food so we didn't realize how this dish was made. This wasn't a big deal at all and we would have been fine keeping the dish as is. However, they provided us with a Chicken Shawarma, on the house, just in case we didn't like the Kadai Chicken. It wasn't like they gave us a complimentary side of rice -- they gave us a full $10 dish, just so we would enjoy our meal. I can tell you that we will be returning to this location not only because the food was delicious, but primarily because I want to support a family-run business that genuinely cares about their customers. I have seen some negative reviews about the service when eating in-house, but I can tell you that we had exceptional service that I have RARELY seen in any food establishment. Coming from So. CA (home of great variety of good food), I was hesitant on going to an Indian restaurant in the middle of the suburbs of Gurnee. I was pleasantly surprised by their great flavor and great taste. We had the chicken kabobs, chicken shawarma, and Shish Kabobs with naan, which all was very tasty. We later ordered the saffron rice that was flavorful and smelled wonderful due to the spices. What more can you ask for. I really want to give this place a better review than I am because the food was rather good, unfortunately, for me, this is where the good ends. The atmosphere was cheap and hollow feeling, it was dead silent inside which managed to make it feel both awakward and like time was crawling by. It also didnt help that service was very slow, and when food finally came it came at seperate times. My wife and I got way too much food that was too expensive for what it was. Decent Indian Restaurant but they need to control their fly infestation if dining in. I took a chance dining here after a long day with Six Flags Great America and decided to try this place out since I did have a craving for Indian cuisine from the the Hyderabad region. The food was decent and good but As i saw a couple eat the food they ordered at their table I had also notice a fly infestation in which they couple could not tolerate and they left right away with their food to go. I had ordered the Mutton(Really Goat not Lamb) Masala and Basmati Saffron Rice which was deliciously good. I would recommend the place for carry out but this is too far out for me to get this from Chicago. i only suggest this for local people to dine here in the Waukegan/Gurnee area since this was the 1st Ethnic Indian restaurant I ever saw up here. They never had one in the Lake county region when I used to visit friend's living up here long ago. Flavorful food in Gurnee, who knew? This is more Pakastani than Indian. If it were in the city it would be full of cab drivers, which is always a sign of two things, good food and not too fancy. Everything is new so it is clean. It is owned my very hospitable people who are immigrants. They are kind but still learning the business. The food had spice, even the rice. If you don't like spice, you will not have the full experience. You can get naan and grilled meats but the spice is ohh so good. Have I had better Pak/ Indian? Yes, but not around here. I beyond excellent ‼ knew this was a special place when I walked in and was the only NON india person there....I used to live in India and miss the REAL india style biriyani with cardamoms and spice. Any time you see a place like biryani point that packs the tables with customers from india- you know your in for a rare and truly authentic treat of the tastebuds. Unlike so many india restaurants that seem to "water down" the REAL india food specialties to accommodate more mild American taste -Biryani Point held true to traditional india cooking like I remember during my many travels throughout India and Pakistan . Yesterday we ordered vegetable biriyani and egg biriyani with parathas . The food was very bad .both biriyanis they have not cooked properly and they mixed some readymade powder for these biriyanis.
