Fantastic Indian food. We've been here several times. As we sat down this time it was nice the waitress said the food names that I like and she remembered I was vegetarian and offered some appropriate suggestions. The portions are huge. My husband had the Chicken Biryani. He really loves this and has enough for left overs. Seems like a popular choice because we see plates go by us piled high with Chicken Biryani. I really wanted to give this place a good review because the food is decent. The service is horrendous!! They seat you at dirty tables. They give you warm water to drink. The food comes out in segments. The waitress quite obviously had no clue what she was doing and could have cared less about your experience at the restaurant. We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance and were pleasantly surprised with the food. They have some really good Indian food that one can find in this area. We tried Mutter Paneer, Chicken Biryani, garlic naan, and tandoor roti. They have awesome Kaddu ki Kheer (squash kheer). The portion size for all their dishes is very good for the price. First time visit and it was amazing!!! We ate 2 vegetable samosas, a sweet lassi each, and shared a plate of vegetable biryani. I forgot to mention spicy when we ordered the food. When the dishes came out, it looked delicious and smelled delightful. Surprisingly, it came out spicy. We were impressed with the appetizer and entree, we can't wait to to taste the nonveg version of the dishes. The service was amazingly nice. Our waiter (I suspect the owner) was attentive to us. There should be an option for spicy or mild. We got the chicken masala and there was only about 3 spoonfuls of bite size pieces of chicken we were left with a bowl full of sauce, the amount we received to me was not worth the 9.99 we paid for. When it came time for the bill, we asked the waitress for the bill we waited about 10 mins and she was apparently not in any hurry to give us the bill. I had to get up and ask the cashier if I could pay. We waited quite a while just to order and leave. I wouldn't know if the food is good or not. The service was so terrible that I left without my order. Arrived with my daughter NYE at 5pm, and promptly placed a to go order (one chicken biryani, one vegetable biryani, garlic naan). Stayed at the restaurant awaiting the order. At 5:15pm, a table of 5 was seated directly across from where my daughter and I were seated. Within 10 minutes, they were served three courses of what smelled like delicious food. At 5:30, as the proprietor was serving that table their 4th course, my daughter and I left without our order. I don't think the proprietor was too upset about it. She made no effort to communicate with us after our order was placed, but was very friendly with the folks who were receiving such wonderful service. I will never go back to that place read more

The restaurant we usually go to closed but this one is good, too. They expanded their menu recently I think and have a lot of options. I think the taste is okay - I have had the palak paneer, mutter paneer, and vegetable biryani and my husband has gotten the chicken masala and mutton masala. I am glad this restaurant exists near me because I like this type of food but I did prefer the other restaurant that recently closed in Gurnee because of the more complex taste. I read some people drove far to eat here which I wouldn't recommend but as a local option I have no complaints. I usually order online and it is super easy and ready when they say it will be - it's very convenient for me. But let me tell you this place is spicy! Even if you ask for mild. My mother ordered the vegetable biryani - a rice based dish with vegetables - that was supposed to be mild and I emphasized that we wanted it as mild as possible for her but it was even spicier than my mutter paneer! I like spicy food so it is fine but if you are out with a friend that needs mild food probably not the best option lol. read more

The food is not good. They couldn't even get the Naan right -- it was dry and flavorless. I personally had the Chicken Kebab. I didn't realize I was ordering a few pieces of chicken and plate of lettuce and raw onion (I love onion but cmon I don't want a whole onion for lunch). My friend ordered the Mutton Marsala and his dish had maybe 5 pieces of meat coated in a greasy sauce. Aside from the food, the facilities and service were poor. The back of my chair was sticky and clung to my shirt like a needy, dirty child would. We ordered some samosas and saw the waiter take a few seconds to write our orders on his notepad, but the samosas never came. But guess what, they did appear on the check... After getting the charge removed, we stayed put chatting for a few minutes. My friend and I noticed that the waiters were giving us dirty looks, clearly annoyed that we had chosen to stay and chat after paying for our meal. Came here to eat in on a midweek day. The restaurant was mostly empty, but spacious. There were a few people coming in for carry out so it seems like they have some returning customers. There was no hostess and I was standing by the stand for five minutes before I went to the cashier station to be sat. The cashier/owner went to get the female waitress (I think she is the wife of the owner) and I was seated. The waitress seemed awkward and uncomfortable taking my order and had to come back a few times because she forgot to ask me what I wanted as a side. She did later bring a plate and a jug of water, but other than the time she brought the water and my meal, I never saw her again. I decided to order the Chicken Shawarma with rice. The order took about 7 minutes and it was served hot. For me, the chicken was on the mild side of spiciness, but it was flavored well. They give you a lot of rice and a decent amount of chicken, but I felt like that many of the chicken pieces were smaller than an end of an eraser. The sauce that they give you, however, was amazing and definitely added to the deliciousness of the food. The chicken was cooked well and only the tiny pieces were chewy/fatty. At the end, my waitress never came back so I had to go to the cashier station to pay for my food. The owner seemed taken aback that I wanted to pay there and not wait for the waitress, but I told him that I was waiting for 10-15 minutes and she never came back out in the dining area. Overall the food was average. I may come back to try the kabobs, but I will carry out instead. read more

If you have two hours to spare for an average food then go to this place. We ordered the Combo # 1, Mutton Biryani, Butter Chicken and Paratha. Food - Combo # 1 was good. Mutton Biryani - had no flavor and Mutton pieces were very small. We couldn't taste any spices in the Biryani. Butter Chicken- it has lot of gravy and few pieces. Taste was ok. Service - very bad. The sever first forgot our order and after serving the appetizers she thought that full order was delivered. That too after 45 minutes of waiting. When I reminded her then she tried to get the food. Asked twice for water to get some. We finished our food and waited for good 15 mins to get the check. When she didn't show up I went to the reception and paid the bill. My son wanted to try some sweets but they were out of it. Overall - average food and HORRIBLE service. Last visit for us. If you crave Indian food in Gurnee area I recommend Shalimar. Though they don't have much sitting space but their food is far better than this restaurant. read more

Food is awesome, best hyderabadi biryani and grilled platter ever , and the fresh bread is wow. This place has everything you can find on Devon Ave so save the trip if you live in the northern suburbs. They just need more staff at lunch time but I started calling them and place my order before I arrive and that solved the problem.
