I got eggs, fruit, and a biscuit. The biscuit was room temp but it was still delicious. The strawberry jam and specialty butters were yummy. The MVP here was the chai sweet potato butter. 100 times better than any apple butter I've ever had. Biscuit Head should make a specialty latte with the chai sweet potato butter!! Food: the food came out quick. It looks nice. The biscuit tastes fresh but it wasn't hot. For the filthy animal, the only thing that came out hot was the fried chicken and the rest was kinda warm or room temp. The same with the classic sandwich Services: I walked in and tried to stay to the side to look at the menu. One of the workers told me to stand around the bar to order. I told her I wasn't ready yet and I received a dirty look. First timer here and I don't want to stand in line without knowing what I want and hold up the line. I thought it was rude. I like biscuits. I'm in the South. How could I pass up a place called Biscuit Head? My wife was skeptical. I was right. First thing you notice is that a lot of folks like this place. The line was out the door and we had to wait for seats. As we worked our way toward the counter we had time to figure out our choices. Order at the counter and they bring the food to your table. The layout is basic, simple tables and chairs, but you're here for those biscuits. Fluffy tall biscuits covered with sausage gravy and fried or scrambled eggs are a common choice. Or some version of a biscuit sandwich. Maybe add some fried chicken. This is the good stuff. They have tons of sauces to choose from too. You can keep it simple with a biscuit and your choice of topping, roll the dice with a biscuit sandwich, or step up and take on a gut-busting breakfast platter. There are also sweet dishes and a bar full of complimentary jams. My wife and I went with the biscuit of the day (Korean fried chicken), a biscuit with mushroom gravy, fried green tomatoes, and a side of bacon. The biscuits were good, but if you get them in a sandwich, don't expect the sandwich to hold together. No matter: forks exist for a reason. The Korean fried chicken included both Korean BBQ sauce and pimento cheese, an interesting fusion of Asian and Southern that somehow worked. The accompanying tots were crispy and addictive, and the mushroom gravy was creamy and rich. The fried green tomatoes were respectable but would have been better topped with pimento. Hands down, these are some of the best biscuits I've ever had! They're large, fluffy, and incredibly soft on the inside. Loved our quick visit to Biscuit Head on the way out of town. Parking is around the back (pay by mobile - the restaurant doesn't validate) and the line to order starts at the back of the restaurant. Weekends are super busy, not surprisingly. The great thing about this place is that they don't let you sit without ordering your food first, and as you pay, they help you find a table. This keeps things moving along well and wait times shorter. They could use a few more staff to help clear tables, though, as the counter guy was having to stop serving and clear off tables as the customers left. Knew this place was going to be good based off of the line going all the way through the door! We had a hard time picking what we were going to eat given their wide variety of things to go along with biscuits. Don't let the long line fool you, the service was very quick! We got the classic sandwich with sriracha maple sausage, fruit, side of sausage gravy. We appreciated the jam bar they had and the wide variety. Came in for a quick breakfast before driving out of Asheville and thought biscuits would be a great filling start to our day. I enjoyed the interior and exterior with it being cat-themed. Your order number comes with a picture of a real cat which I found to be a cute touch. They also have a generous jam/hot sauce bar which was really fun to try and adds a unique twist to your experience. My partner got the Half Breakfast with a side of bacon. She really enjoyed the jam bar since she was able to customize each bite to her liking. I tried the biscuit by itself and I have to say that I wasn't that impressed. It was just fine at best and so for a "biscuit-specific" restaurant, this fell flat. It didn't seem like it was made right then and there between the luke warm temperature and the brittle texture. I got the Asheville Benedict which was interesting. I wanted a slightly 'healthier' biscuit option and so this one was more vegetable forward which I definitely appreciated. However the end result with a warm biscuit and very cold veggies made for a temperature clash that was not very pleasant. I think there's a world where this specific dish could work (maybe separate some of the elements) but as constructed, it's kind of all over the place. I'm confident that had I gotten a different item I'd give it higher marks, but this specific dish plus the biscuit being average really let this meal down for me. read more

Expected a decent queue in the morning that goes out the door followed but some very flavorful biscuits where what sets it apart was the chicken, sauces, and combination of flavors. You order your food at the counter, take a number and then choose a seat wherever you like. They have inside seating and outside seating. Since my dog was with me, I chose to sit outside in their heated tent which was comfortable. Overall I'd say their ambiance is laidback and welcoming to all. Now my thoughts on the food. I thought everything was great! I really enjoyed the pimento cheese grits and classic biscuit sandwich. My only small complaints they knocked my review to 4 stairs was that the biscuit was slightly crumbly and dry and the cheese was cold/not melted on the sandwich. The side platter was delicious. I got over-easy eggs (fine), country ham (as expected) biscuit (I prefer rolled over drop biscuits) and fried green tomatoes (unlike any I've ever had and not in a good way) Fried green tomatoes are usually cooked in a primarily cornbread/egg dredge. This place has been on my list to try for years and I finally went on a last-minute whim after checking out of my hotel. The taste biscuit itself reminded me of my late grandma's biscuits (delicious). I ordered the country ham biscuit w/fried green tomato, cheddar cheese, red eye gravy, and an over easy egg (vs. scrambled) and sat at the bar since I was solo and smaller table space was limited. I think I would have liked plain ol' sausage gravy better with what I got --or I had biscuit envy since I didn't opt for the daily special w/BBQ, Sriracha cole slaw, pimento cheese/jalapeño sauce, etc., but the giant biscuit kept me full for most of the day. We weren't even planning on eating here, but we're walking by and saw the huge line running out into the street. We got on Yelp and saw how popular it is, so we hopped in line. The wait really wasn't too bad. Maybe 20 minutes. The Filthy animal was SO good. Very unique. It was a LOT of food and more on the heavy side, but delicious. The eggs Benedict we got was much "lighter", yet still a large portion. I wish the Appalachai had a creamy-er texture. It felt like they used skim milk to me. Placed an online order for in store pick up. The girl at the counter was lovely and told me I could get any of the jelly to go. I also asked her for a cup of ice for our water bottle, and she was so sweet and accommodating. Service was very quick, even though I got there a little early. I ordered the Ya Filthy Animal and a cup of plain coffee. I love that they have Oatmilk for no up charge! The coffee was delicious and fresh, and the biscuit was amazing. The chicken was deliciously crispy and perfectly cooked. The sauce was great and so was the egg. I walked in around 8:05 am for a 8:15 pickup time and they already had quite a few tables seated and eating. Get there early! read more
