Greasy biscuity goodness. You won't leave hungry. This is also the only restaurant where I've showed up four different times for lunch when the place was closed -- my fault, not theirs. We ate at Biscuit Head this past weekend. I loved the layout of the restaurant. Good coffee, casual and pretty interiors. I tried the Mimosa biscuit which had fried chicken, cole slaw, sweet potato jam on a biscuit with a poached egg on top looking like a spoonful of whipped cream. Most important feature for us was that we found seating near a children's play area. We sat and ate while our 4 year old daughter played with a train set, chalk board and a few other nice wooden toys. It is such a joy to see a restaurant that thinks of families with young kids. Husband kept going back to the butter bar to get special toppings for his biscuit. Highly recommend this place! read more

Just got back from a girls trip to Asheville from Florida. Found this place cause we were looking for a place to get a bloodymary or mimosa before we started our day out. We all ended up ordering food cause it just sounded way to good to pass up. It didnt disappoint! We had a little bit of everything, sirachi sausage, fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, fried egg wedge salad, grits, and biscuits. All great and we were talking about it all weekend. This place is obviously for the "no nothing" biscuit eaters. The biscuit was dense, heavy ,doughy and tasteless! The sides were bad to awful and the jams nothing to write about. We visited biscuit head for Saturday breakfast while on a weekend trip. We brought the dogs with us and there were plenty of tie-down options in the patio area for them. We started with a delicious Carmelita latte then opted for biscuits and gravy as our breakfast with a side of smoked grits and bacon of the day. We got there at 8:30 and they were already busy but the service was quick as well as the food delivery to the table. By the time we left the line was almost to the front door so the earlier the better. A local bar owner advised this location is where most locals go so it's easier to get into than the Biltmore location. Give it a try on your next trip! There will definitely be something for everyone whether it's a entree option, side dish, beverage, or just a biscuit topped with lovely toppings from the jam/butter bar! We loved the orange-cinnamon marmalade and bananas foster topping. YUM. 4 instaed of 5 stars only because my biscuit was a bit overbaked. read more

Decent. My boyfriend and I were really really excited about trying this place, and left somewhat underwhelmed. I got the biscuit breakfast with scrambled eggs and seitan "sausage". The eggs were fine, but the seitan sausage was strange. Yes, I knew what I was getting into... but it just wasn't that great. The biscuit was huge, which was nice, but nothing to write home about. I was dubious about the an all biscuit menu; however the food won me over. The Asheville with its kale salad is good, but I love, love the smoked tomato hollandaise on the fried green tomato biscuit. The seitan is delicious, and the biscuits are perfect in their flaky, buttery goodness. We've eaten at both locations multiple times, and the Biltmore Ave location has a much smaller jam bar. The Haywood Rd location has a great section for little kids to play. The service is fast so don't be put off by the line. read more

Stopped by here for breakfast after seeing the reviews and so glad I did. The food here is very fresh. The biscuits are huge and so good with the butters and homemade jams on the bar. They have so many good choices to choose from that you could come everyday for a week and still not try every biscuit meal they have. The chicken and biscuit will be my next pick the next time Im in town. The place is crowded. Seating is limited. Line can be long but does move quickly. I just had a terrible meal at Biscuit Head--flavorless eggs, overcooked bacon (more like leather) and a biscuit that was dry on the outside and doughy on the inside. The jam bar was out of the three top choices, and although there were jars for sale on the counter, they refused to open one for customers. I did visit half an hour before closing on a Tuesday. By the time I was finished, they were out of my coffee choice, and I had to step over two piles of swept up trash on my way to the door. I expressed my disappointment to the staff. Had the eggs benedict breakfast and ... WOW! very very yummy. The Benedict sauce comes with a twist of dijion mustard. Soo good. Followed the Yelp crowd to Biscuit Head. At 10am on a Wednesday there was a line out the door (unlike another reviewed who was able to walk right in). Love the food and the tin plate presentation. Only problem was that we had to sit outside, and by the time our food made it from the kitchen to our picnic table, almost everything was cold. Trust me, the food was so delicious I barely noticed the temperature. And be sure to try at least 5 of the jams/jellies next to the drink machines! read more

Fun place. Easy to locate and lots of parking in the back. Had the classic biscuit and added a fried green tomato with a side of pork sausage gravy. The biscuit was excellent! Have had better fried green tomatoes and opted to take it off the biscuit. The gravy was a little sweet on the tongue but gets spicier the more you eat it. Great coffee and fast service! read more

However, if you get there when it opens at 8 AM (sort of late for a breakfast pace) go around to the back door (there is a parking lot back there too); they open that door first. You get a lot for your money at this place...the biscuits are good...maybe not Tupelo Honey good but good. I've eaten here twice and both times the biscuit was gummy inside, without a crusty outside. The second time I had the fried green tomatoes. The batter on the tomatoes seemed to be thick chicken fried steak batter that detracted from the tomato. Then they were covered in tomato sauce with a slice of red tomato on top. Mushy and gummy. I left most of it. I would think that if you specialize in biscuits, you can bake them so they are flaky inside. I won't be returning. read more

reading any bad reviews of this place just makes me mad. it is the best restaurant in the world! amazing flavors, fluffy warm biscuits, and an extensive jam bar which is delicious. the sweet potato gravy could stand up to the best indian curry any day. the brisket biscuit was a culinary masterpiece. we went twice in our two day trip because it was so incredible. do not miss biscuit head if you are even close to asheville, nc. it is worth any wait you may encounter. i loved it so much that my wife who is writing this review as i dictate bought me a t shirt that i do not even know about :) read more

DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE!!! This dumpy old place tries to re-invent the wheel. One of the employees recommended the CHICKEN BISCUIT, so that's what I decided to go with because apparently it's the most popular thing on the menu. First of all, I'm not even sure it was chicken. It was fried dark meat, but looked like a breast. Hopefully it wasn't one of the stray animals running around West Asheville. I had to look for the actual biscuit itself because it was buried under slaw, sweet potato jam, and a poached egg. Just imagine your egg yolk running down into the jam (basically apple butter) and then mixing with slaw and dark meat chicken. F-ING GROSS! I'm pretty sure most of these reviews are friends and family, so prepare yourself for disappointment if you choose to drop by one morning. The coffee was decent, but it comes served in one of their random coffee mugs from someone's old hodge-podge collection from 1993. Maybe that's cool to hipsters, but let's get real - It's 2015. Buy a set of coffee mugs and some damn real plates instead of metal frisbees. Even the silverware looks like it was stolen from Waffle house 10 years ago. The mugs are a reflection of the entire theme of the restaurant, including the menu... just a bunch of random sh*t thrown together. How does this place stay open? read more

I stayed in Asheville for a week and this was my favorite meal! I'm from New York and I'll tell ya- if this place was in Brooklyn there would be lines around the block. Biscuits could become the new cupcakes in popularity. They had a BACON OF THE DAY too! I can my own jams and am somewhat of a preserve snob and I was very impressed with their jam bar and array of flavors (the Bananas Foster was my fave). They also had an array of flavored butters- the honey almond was great. My husband literally ordered everything on the specials menu and almost succeeded in eating it all. The only downside is that I went there with my sister and her boyfriend who are both vegan and although they had a few side dish options they couldn't enjoy the biscuits. Biscuits are so easy to convert to vegan- just use shortening and soy milk instead of dairy products- add that to the menu and you'd have a home run for one and all! read more
