After having had a disastrous meal at the neighboring Toss Pizza Pub at the condominium complex we are temporarily staying at, I didn't have high hopes for Biscuit Head. Fortunately I was wrong. This, funky breakfast/lunch establishment had tasty and affordable food with generous portions, is well thought out in concept, detail oriented for meeting clientele's needs, and highly original. One orders the food and pays, takes a number to a table and within ten minutes max., a large portion of breakfast delights appears. We ordered the Classic -scrambled eggs with cheese on a huge, homemade moist muffin with choice of side (I chose Pimento cheese grits). There is a display of individual homemade jams to choose from-as many as one wants, in flavors such as Banana Fosters, Mango, etc...even the butter had a twist such as basil. Everything is clearly marked so cafeteria style eating is made easy. It's environmentally friendly, the staff is nice, and I loved the decor with its individually decorated nature scenes in the enclosed front window counter, and illustrative designs on the walls. Only the 2nd visit yet I remember that first timer experience. Colorful titles with a full description for the pickiest of palettes can be a little overwhelming in this fast paced environment. Luckily the staff is accommodating and willing to assist by recommending menu items. Others hurriedly moving in the kitchen followed by a front staff focused on ensuring tables are clean and waiting on the next customer. Order the full breakfast from a value perspective it worth the $9 price tag. Two eggs followed up with two sides and a HUGE biscuit that would satisfy any growling tummy. I really like this place. The atmosphere is fun and food is definitely tasty!! Reasons preventing a full 5 star rating include: 1) Parking is a beast. Yea, there's an attached parking garage with free parking on the first level but good luck finding a spot at prime time! If you do, definitely watch out for people exiting the garage as you walk over to the restaurant. (I realize this isn't the restaurant's fault/responsibility but it's still a major inconvenience and to me a deterrent from wanting to go back...just keep it mind and you'll be prepared!) 2) This place fills up FAST and there will inevitability be a wait for your food. Definitely understand why because the food is great and deliciousness is worth the wait. However, there probably won't be a place to wait for your food after placing your order. Somewhat disappointing after struggling with the parking situation. It is what it is and not sure the restaurant can do anything about it. Except for those inconveniences the food is great. Today we had our Easter Celebration at work and we used Biscuit Head to cater our celebration breakfast. Everyone has been RAVING about how good the food was and we were all pleasantly full after devouring our meals. Those of us who had special diets were able to enjoy a gluten-free biscuit or just eat the side dishes and were also pleased with the quality and taste of the food. We definitely get excited about food around here at the office, and we get a lot of it. But everyone was happy to do something different than our normal breakfast and this went over very well with everyone. I had to save half for a later meal. Latte-good latte, nothing outstanding, but that's not a bad thing. Since I had half a biscuit left, I ventured over to the jelly/butter bar. I'm glad I did, because the flavor concoctions were genius, and every last one that I sampled on the 1/2 biscuit were delicious (from rosemary, sweet potato, chai, apple, orange combos that are all so perfectly combined that my words wouldn't even cast light on how awesome they are!) Updating my review from a 5 star to a 3 star :(. Clearly I used to really like this place and I thought it was amazing. I've been back recently and it really has gone downhill this year. I will give them the benefit of the doubt because we are in a pandemic and I know that has hit hard on the restaurant business. However, I thought my order was not at the same standards as it used to be. Grits were cold, chicken didn't taste as great as it used to be. You can't beat their prices but honestly I would rather spend more money on a different place with amazing food then to settle for biscuit head. I came here once with my family and wasn't blown out of the water. Sure, the food isn't bad and its nice and hipster but we were standing in line for about an hour in the freezing cold to get in and it is not worth the wait for me. When we finally got in, we had to sit separate because there wasn't enough sitting for the whole group and we were a bit crammed into the small place. Okay. Super cheesy but one of the MAIN reasons we agreed to move to Greenville is because of Biscuit Head. We were living in Greensboro but we are originally from Asheville and made sure to go to that location every chance we went home. When a job offer came about in GVL we listed the pros and cons and Biscuit Head was at the top of the pros list. Ended up even scoring an apt above them so now we just walk downstairs for some deliciousness. Love this shrimp and grits (special) and their brisket biscuit (regular menu item.) Visited Biscuit Head this past weekend and decided to give it a try after such good reviews. I have to agree with majority of everyone else, this place lived up to the expectations. FOOD I ordered the mimosa fried chicken biscuit and my boyfriend had the fried catfish biscuit with pimento cheese grits. I was skeptical about the mimosa chicken biscuit, not knowing how it would taste but it was flavorful , it comes with sweet potato jam (delicious!) and Siracha coleslaw ( it added a nice touch to the chicken). My boyfriend was pleased with the flavor of the catfish. Although he was unsure about the cheese grits he was surprised how good the pimento cheese complimented the grits. Usually cheddar or Asiago cheese is used for grits, but it was a nice change. We also had the chance of sampling the different jams and butter from their jam bar which were all delicious. DRINK I had the mimosa of course to go with my mimosa fried chicken.. it did not disappoint. Very tasty the used the right amount of orange juice and wine. My boyfriend had orange juice but kept mentioning how thick it was. I assume they use freshly squeezed orange juice OVERALL EXPERIENCE I give them a 4/5 for overall experience.
