What a gem in the heart of downtown Greenville! My husband and I (along with my visiting friends) finally tried Soby's, and we were lucky enough to catch the final day of Restaurant Week. The RW menu was an incredible deal--three courses of appetizers, entrées, and desserts that absolutely wowed the entire table! I wish I'd taken more photos, but we were all too eager to dive in. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance: elegant and upscale, yet completely welcoming whether you're dressed casual or glammed up. If you appreciate fine wine, they boast around 16,000 bottles in their collection--so if you're a sommelier looking for a rare favorite, chances are they have it! Everything we tried was exceptional! Fresh salads featuring local greens, fruits, and cheeses, plus a rich She-Crab soup layered with sherry that struck the ultimate balance between complex flavor and rustic comfort. A bone-in pork chop served with sauerkraut and cabbage that couldn't have been better executed. Our server was an absolute pro--with impressive menu knowledge--and recommended the Wagyu steak and Lion's Mane mushrooms. The steak portion was so generous that we got to enjoy incredible steak-and-eggs for breakfast at home the next morning! A peach pudding created by their talented Brazilian pastry chef. Imagine peach cobbler, but turned up to a dreamlike level--packed with pure nostalgic comfort, light as a cloud, and ridiculously delicious. Mother hell. Soby's might be the ultimate GLP-1 derailer. Lawdy, lawdy, lawdy. Server John asked how I liked the fried chicken, and I gave him the stank face. You know the face you make when the funkiest groove hits just right? Apparently it translates through the taste buds. When you're muttering cuss words between bites, the kitchen has won. And the green beans?! I HATE green beans. My momma used to make me eat them as a kid, and I'd chase every bite with water. John was explaining how Soby's prepares theirs, but I was distracted by one thought: These fuckers made me like green beans. My only tweak next time would be hot honey on the side. It pools into the mac and cheese, and I'd rather control the sweetness myself. I loved the yelling from the kitchen, too. The Southern spirit is alive back there. Manager Adam eventually appeared with a "Ms. Coker?" Apparently word of the stank-face lady had traveled. He seemed genuinely happy that I was happy. The white chocolate banana cream pie has been on the menu since Day 1, so I ordered it and immediately saw why. Not too sweet. Just perfect. Blue ribbon, first place at the county fair all the way. First time eating in downtown Greenville in a long while. I had no idea this place had been there for 30 years! They have free valet parking right next door. That was nice. We had a reservation so we were seated quickly in a big comfortable group - party of four. The server was a bit quirky. A little "too much" if you know what I mean. The wine list was amazing. So many choices. We shared the Brussels sprouts and a shrimp lettuce wrap. The sprouts were fantastic. The lettuce wrap I do not recommend. The shrimp had no flavor. They should do a spicy Asian sauce on them. I got the chopped salad as a starter. Loved the dried cranberries. Dressing was a little light. Also, very hard to eat with a fork. :-) For the main, I got the filet cooked medium rare. I was eyeing a $100 A2 ribeye but I was someone's guest and did not want to overstep. The filet was cooked perfectly and was delicious. Only $49. Guessing it was 8 ounces. It was served in a Worcestershire jus that was excellent. Also came with mushrooms, asparagus and small potatoes. Went here a business dinner. When I researched the place i noted it has is Michelin Recommended and had high ratings on Google and Yelp. We checked in inside where it was quite dark and decided to dine outside since the weather was so nice. After browsing the menu I decided on the two recommendations from our server: - Fried Green Tomatoes: Good. Nicely prepared and presented. It tasted good and very balanced. - Crab Cakes: Good. The crab cakes themselves were quite good, but a little more wet than I'm accustomed to. I quite liked the sweet corn maque choux. - Key Lime Pie: Good. Loved the food at Sobys. We were there during restaurant week and made reservations, and I'm so glad we did because it was packed. Service was fast and friendly. Servers were very knowledgeable about all the food. The fried chicken with the bacon Mac & cheese was amazing! My friend had the braised beef and loved it. Would definitely recommend for dinner and drinks. The only thing we regret is not ordering dessert, but we were so full already. Fine Dining with a casual flare at its best! In the heart of downtown Greenville, this restaurant is top notch. An amazing patio overlooking one of the main streets of downtown Greenville, with a cozy interior ambiance as well. Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable of the local food, drinks and their amazing wine selection. Soby's just won the Wine Spectator Grand Award (highest possible) and a Michelin recommended restaurant for 2025. And it shows. We didn't get any wine this evening, but the menu is as thick as a long novel. Anything and everything is in this puppy. Wines from all over the world, ranging from a few bucks to over $13,000 a bottle. Take your pick. We opted for some beer and cocktails, all of which were perfect. The food. This southern inspired menu with local ingredients was fantastic. We had a spicy pimento cheese app with crispy pita and pickled okra...delish! The beet and goat cheese salad was one of the best we've had. The pic speaks for itself there. The Soby's fried chicken is something you HAVE to get if you go. The best fried chicken, with the best bacon mac n cheese to complement it. Tender and juicy, crispy and flavorful...these words don't even scratch the surface of how good this dish was. Verdict: Come for the ambience and the white chocolate banana cream pie, stay for the gravy, and hope your eggs don't spend too long in the "spotlight." Soby's serves Southern charm before the food even hits the table. (And if your experience is anything like mine, you will be waiting awhile for the food to hit the table.) Weathered wood beams stretch overhead, brick walls hold decades of character, and the warm lighting makes the whole room glow like butter on a hot biscuit. The kitchen hums with the kind of energy that says brunch is serious business. If you sit upstairs at the loft, there are some seats that overlook the kitchen so it's like brunch and a show. The pecan sticky bun is sweet enough to make you reconsider sharing though I wouldn't know because they ran out of it before 11:00a. Service was friendly and quick on the front end, though the kitchen's food expeditors seemed a little short-handed. The result? A slight wait that left some eggs spending a bit too much quality time under the heat lamps. My Shakshuka dish had an egg-istential crisis. Instead of that luscious over-easy river of yolk, the eggs arrived closer to hard-boiled territory--less "runny brunch bliss" and more "deviled egg audition." Thankfully, our waiter expedited another over easy egg to replace the one that came with my dish. The Providence Farm Country Fried Steak was the undeniable headliner--about 1.5 inches thick and fried to golden perfection. Smothered in sausage gravy, it was the kind of dish that makes cardiologists nervously flip through their calendars. The flavor? Steak-ing its claim as one of the better country fried steaks around. The sunny-side egg, however, had clearly spent a little too long basking beneath the warming lights alongside my shakshuka. But, if you come for one thing only, let it be the white chocolate banana cream pie. As I've heard Southern Belles say in gest, "it'll make you wanna slap your mama." A must-stop brunch location in downtown Greenville. I visited on a busy Sunday morning but did have reservation prior and faced no wait time even with arriving about 30 minutes earlier than the reservation time. This reimagined southern fare menu has a pleaser for each palate type. I enjoyed the classic pimento cheese deep as a starter and two unique entrees - fried green tomatoes eggs Benedict and a delicious frittata. Food was amazing. The venue was a bit loud with all the activity and some other more boisterous guests, but I wouldn't hold that against the establishment. We decided to try Soby's and ended up taking our waiter's suggestion to do the half and half, which included a half portion of the crab cake and a half portion of the shrimp and grits. I'm so glad we listened as both dishes were great. The crab cake was definitely more crab than cake, which is always a good sign, and the creamed corn underneath was delicious. The green beans were fresh and perfectly cooked. The shrimp and grits were also spot on. The grits were creamy and well-seasoned, and the shrimp came with sausage that added just the right amount of flavor. It had a little spice but nothing overpowering. For dessert, we tried the sweet potato cheesecake, and it honestly tasted just like sweet potato pie. The mandarin oranges on the side added a nice citrusy finish that balanced it all out. We started off in the bar for a cocktail while we waited for one of the big booths--it's the south, so there was loud sportsball on the TVs, which wasn't my favorite. However, service was good and the drinks were well prepared. We were soon seated in our booth, and service from Brion (not sure of the spelling, sorry!) was appropriately charming Southern! Because we wanted to try a lot of things, he kindly suggested a half portion on the shrimp and grits so we could have an appetizer size serving. Ah the goat. This is the paragon for Greenville restaurants. All the dishes are well-made, the presentation is sufficient, and the service is spot-on. Of course, the area is kept clean and well-maintained. To give an example of the service, their training server overheard me and my then-girlfriend, now fiancee, talk about sharing the shrimp and grits. So, she asked the kitchen to split up the portion ahead of time to allow both of us to hand a good looking dish. It's those little things that set restaurants apart and this is one of them. Arrived early and was seated very quickly with a lovely table inside. The ambience is amazing. It is a 106 year-old, remodeled and converted building that was once a grocery store and pharmacy. The food was great, we enjoyed shrimp and grits and added a side of a crabcake which was filled with crab. There was a good variety of wines and mixed drinks on the menu. Our server was quite detailed in explaining things to us, almost a bit too much, but better that than the alternative. A lovely experience with another couple. read more

Solo dined here the other night for my first time in Greenville and it was lovely! Inside was very vibey, dimmed and "candle-lit!" Absolutely loved my waiter too he was so polite and extremely attentive! Started off with some complimentary cheddar and garlic biscuits which were yummy! I ordered the Berry Calm mocktail (super good) and the Fried Chicken with truffle mac & cheese and broccolini. The chicken was crisp and delicious with a touch of hot honey. I went for dinner and had the Southern Fried Chicken, Fried Green Tomatoes , and finished with the banana cream pie. We were greeted at the host desk and seated immediately with a reservation for brunch. This place is huge, but also spacious. Our waiter, Stephan, was attentive, helpful, and actually seemed like he cared about serving us. We got the pecan sticky buns as a starter and the fried chicken plate as our entree. The sticky buns were much bigger than expected and tasted even better!! They were able to split the fried chicken plate for us, which included a chicken breast with an amazing hot honey glaze, mac and cheese, and green beans. It's frustrating, because the food and service are great once you are actually seated, but the past two times I have been there, I had a reservation, and I still ended up waiting more than 40 minutes to be seated. Nobody ever acknowledged the wait either, just an unbelievable amount of time consumed standing around waiting. We went here for brunch to celebrate our in-laws anniversary! The ladies got the Shakshuka which was to die for! Packed full of flavor and the bread was so good with it. We had an amazing lunch here. The fried chicken is not something I would normally order but so glad I did! It was super juicy and the little bit of hot honey drizzle made it. The Mac and cheese was excellent as well (big chunks of ham). The shrimp and grits with sausage was very good, although I prefer more crumbled, crispy sausage but still very good. OMG! Seriously, some of the best food I've ever had! If you are in Greenville, highly recommend coming here. It was so good, I didn't even remember to take pics before diving into each item. A coworker and I are in town for a work trip. We couldn't decide what to have for dinner, so we decided to take a walk around the area by our hotel and let the walk decide for us. We stumbled upon Soby's. There were several people eating in the outdoor patio area and in the inside bar area that had large doors open. All the food everyone had looked so good! We shared the Baked Brie and Ciabatta - delicious! The apple, walnut, apricot topping was the perfect texture and flavor! I had the crab cakes. It is a large portion, so I just knew I was going to take one to go. Nope! I ate both of them because they were a good! My coworker had the salmon and she said it was very flavorful and she enjoyed the sauce on it. We shared the cookies n cream cheesecake. Perfect sharing size and level of sweetness! The server (I think his name was Cameron) was super attentive to our table and everyone else around us. TLDR: just go! The food is amazing and the service was incredible. This was our second visit to Soby's, and it was just as amazing as the first! We started with the fried green tomatoes and spicy pimento cheese. Both were full of flavor and so well done. For our mains, we had the braised short rib and the Joyce Farms fried chicken, and everything was perfectly cooked and delicious. Drinks were also 10/10! The service was excellent, and the staff went above and beyond to make the evening special. Food and service were great! Our waitress was very attentive and kind. We sat upstairs and it was fairly quiet for a Saturday morning. We also were severely underdressed (sweat shorts and tennis shoes lol) I ordered the eggs Benedict and it was really good. My boyfriend has the biscuits and gravy and he wasn't a huge fan of them, but I liked the bite I had! I will say I think we had post-order regret for not ordering the lemon ricotta pancakes....
