Made a visit at 7am when they first opened for the day and it was so very pleasant outdoors, I asked to be seated at an outdoor table. That was no problem and my drink order was immediately taken. This was my first visit, so I reviewed the menu and ordered The "Black Oak Kielbasa" scramble (diced beef, pork & turkey sausage) with cheese and veggies served with hashbrowns, two biscuits, butter and jam. The scramble was very nice and flavorful with the sausage and veggies. The biscuits were light and fluffy and served with a sweet strawberry jam. Although the hashbrowns were nice and crispy, they were completely flavorless. I kept adding additional pepper and a little salt and thought how nice and tasty these potatoes would be if they just used a little onion and garlic or even some garlic salt to give it some flavor. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Food quality was really good. But unfortunately will not be returning to this location. Your staff demonstrated extremely poor food safety practices. No hand washing happened by any staff, no one was wearing gloves in kitchen, one kitchen employee put gum in his mouth over the food line and chewed his gum open mouthed over all plates being prepped and served, wait staff moving bacon from one plate to another without gloves, wait staff moved toast from one plate to another without gloves, at no time did I view any wait staff wash hands before handling food, all employees drinking beverages back by bathrooms and returned to work without washing hands. Food safety starts with store management examples and on shift follow up. Based on what I saw today, management makes food safety a low priority. read more

Sometimes I am adventurous and bold and up for anything. I want to be dropped off in a new neighborhood, city or country and just see where the day takes me. Other times, usually when I've had a rough week, I just want easy. Don't want to be mentally or culinarily challenged in any way. The kind of day when you slap on a baseball cap, your holey jeans and fleece and call it good. Biscuits is a good place on that kind of day. The menu won't intimidate or confuse you and the restaurant has that 'pull up a chair and take a load off' quality. The restaurant is clean, the staff is quick and the food is OK. When I went on a Saturday morning, it was packed and there was a good hum of activity and conversation. Nice mix of people from families to couples, college kids and seniors. This is a new place in Lake Oswego, so clearly a lot of people are checking it out since there aren't many other breakfast spots around. It strikes me as a smaller version of Shari's with fewer menu options and probably less manufactured food. Although it doesn't give me that 'made from scratch' feeling, their motto is "We don't serve fast food... we serve fresh food as fast as we can!" I was disappointed that they didn't have counter seating, since (a) I love to sit at the counter and watch the chefs' work and (b) it would really suit this type of food. My two favorite things were the pot of jam on the table (I loathe those little plastic jam containers you typically get) and they had tip calculations on the receipt from 15 - 20%. We came by on a Sunday for brunch and thought we would have a long wait, but they are turning the tables pretty quickly here! Don't despair if you walk up and notice people waiting outside. They will move those tables as fast as they can and I predict you won't have an overly long wait time. At least try it and see what happens! The food came out fast and piping hot! I love that. I hate it when hot food is not hot. Everything came out as ordered and tasted great. The biscuits were soft, and the homemade strawberry jam was super yummy!! A wonderful cafe with great food for a great price. Biscuits makes a fantastic breakfast, whether it's omelets, waffles, or pancakes, and it won't break the bank to go here. The food gets to you in a short amount of time, and you always leave full. The staff is always very helpful and polite, and will gladly make substitutions or special orders on menu items. Typically not very busy in the late morning hours, the only downside is that they don't stay open later! Food is standard, service is great, accommodating? not so much. The food is standard American fare. My family comes here regularly and is friendly with all the staff. For the most part, service has always been exceptional and we appreciate the warm welcoming environment. Taste-wise, the food is fairly average and meets expectations. However, the gravy with the biscuits and gravy does leave much to be desired as it is was definitely under-seasoned. In addition, the cinnamon rolls are quite bready with not much flavor. Besides the food and service, I have not found them to be accommodating. Small requests or changes to meals have been met with dispute. Today I requested to order from the Kid's menu as I had the gastric-sleeve surgery and an unable to eat more than 2-3 ounces of food. However, we were told that I could not order from the kids menu, even after speaking with the manager. I have NEVER had a restaurant question me ordering from the kid's menu or outright told me no before. I find it appalling that after explaining my situation- this was still unable to be accommodated. Sure there are work arounds such as sharing with a family member or ordering a regular meal and taking the rest home. However, today was one of those days where I could not do either and frankly would have been a complete waste of food to order myself a full meal. read more

Came here for lunch one day- no frills to this place so don't put on your best dress for Sunday brunch. I ordered the Smoked brisket dip and an extra side of au jus with fries. I've been here probably 10 times over the years. It's a great place to get a quick bite to eat. They do get pretty busy during peak breakfast and lunch hours on the weekend. There's nothing fancy about this place, but they are consistent with there classic breakfast and lunch dishes. I almost always go for breakfast. For a change, we left hipster-centric Portland and went for Sunday breakfast at Biscuit's Café, conveniently located not far from I-5. Once we got past not one, not two, but three speed traps on the way there, we found quite a bit to like at the Biscuit's Cafe. JP and I entered a very clean establishment and were seated by a girl that was a dead ringer for a young Tonya Harding, Portland's most famous progeny. Plenty of tables were available when we arrived before ten a.m. We liked there were four different kinds of Eggs Benedict available, as well as chicken sausage and pork chops. JP got the Eggs Benedict and a side order of chicken sausage. I picked the pork chops and a side of fresh fruit. JP got red potatoes with his dish and I got the hash browns with mine. I definitely recommend the red potatoes over the hash browns. While the hash browns are crispy on the outside, they are mushy and starchy on the inside. But the red potatoes are great! My cup of assorted fresh fruit were indeed fresh and quite a bargain, I felt, at $3.00. For me, it was only a very minor infraction that my nice and tender pork chops were undersalted, because that can easily be remedied. Service was good and we appreciated that the owners make their presence very visible in the restaurant, from the painted statement on the wall indicating their emphasis on fresh, not fast, food to greeting customers as they enter and exit the restaurant. Lunch is available here too. It's a good thing we had a hearty breakfast because JP is back from Afghanistan for R&R, and had some pent-up shopping demands - so the day went long. A friend and I went to Biscuits for breakfast. As I had been on a two day fast, almost anything would have been great. We both ordered the Turkey Vegetable Scramble. The meal I received was a dish of rancid looking day old food that was greasy and schriveled. The server told my friend that hers would have to be prepared.... Having not eaten for two days, I was hungry and initially ate some of it. Other than the biscuit, which was fresh and tasted good, the meal was the worst I have ever attempted to eat and never should have been served. My friend ordered the same scramble with pancakes and even though her's had been fresh, she said it had a funny taste and only ate the pancakes which she said were fine. I've eaten here before but walked out today. The reception staff wasn''t very friendly and while I was waiting for the rest of my party (they won't seat you until you are all there) I went into the restroom that was in very poor condition. I went to close the door and it literally fell of the hinge onto me. I had to warn other guests that came in. I asked to speak with a manager and was told she was busy and couldn't talk to me. I then informed the reception staff what happened and they laughed. When I commented there was nothing funny about a door falling on me they ran off somewhere. I texted my friends and suggested another location and told the staff to take me off their list. If the place is in such a bad state of disrepair I wonder about the condition of the kitchen. Hmmm, we recently visited this new establishment and were SO not impressed we would have walked out if it hadn't been for our seriously grumbling stomachs. My husband is VERY picky about his breakfast food, and could not find one redeeming factor. I thought they did have a good selection on the menu, but ultimately none of the things we ordered lived up to the descriptions on the menu. I just don't see what all the hoopla is about Biscuits Cafe, I think this one has gone astray. The service was not great either, our coffee's didn't get refilled until we were paying, and I think that was only because the waitress was worried about her tip. Well, a friend recommended coming here since it was newer to the area. I am always looking for a fun new breakfast place to meet with friends. The atmosphere was a nice quiet, but welcoming to group conversations. The hostess and waitress were both great. Made sure we had everything we needed even before we had opened our menus. Offered fresh orange juice before we even sat down. I was impressed and ready to look at the menu. Right away I noticed the jelly jar sitting on the table and wondered if they made their own jam or jelly. Looked over the menu and decided to go with the sausage omelet with red potatoes and biscuits on the side. I figured I had to try their biscuits since the restaurant has it in the name. The omelet was a good portion, I couldn't finish all of it. The red potatoes were a little greasy and a few too many spices thrown in. Sometimes less is more. I was disappointed with the biscuits. I was hoping to have a fresh home made tasting and looking biscuits. Instead I received what was probably a refrigerated pre-made biscuit that was a little dry on the outside. The jam was tasty though. Overall, it seems to be a great place to join with friends for breakfast. I didn't look over their lunch menu, but they do offer it. The caesar salad and garlic bread i had here was right out of TGIFriday's circa 2002 (the last time i ate there). Seriously. It was exactly the same mass-produced dressing, overloaded onto the lettuce to make it almost a caesar soup. And the garlic bread, well, they didn't even bother with the pretense of bread onto which a human had slathered garlic butter. The spongey consistency and suspiciously uniform 'butter' coating made it look (and taste) like it came from the bottom shelf of the freezer section at WinCo. My dining companion rated his chicken burger as 'okay, i guess'.
