Limited menu
Lorri D.

Bishop Grill is located inside the Marriott hotel so it's super convenient... However the menu is extremely limited and it took forever to order a to go entrée even though I was sitting at the bar. Do yourself a favor and drive a mile or so to find far better fare.

4.5 stars! Cynthia was the most amazing server and hostess. Such a pleasure and a joy to talk to, and she made me feel right at home. For dinner I ordered the mixed green salad (adding avocado and hard-boiled egg) as well as an order of Korean BBQ wings. The salad was full of fresh, delicious greens, tart slices of green apple, blue cheese crumbles and candied pecans. Yum! I wish the avocado was cut into chunks instead of served as thick slices though, but that's just personal preference. I'd rather not have to knife-and-fork my salad (I'm clumsy!). I enjoyed the wings, even though I received an order of buffalo instead of Korean BBQ. Cynthia offered to have an order of Korean BBQ made for me, but the buffalo wings were so good (not too spicy and not too much sauce) that I decided to stick with them. During dinner, I also enjoyed a rum cocktail called the Jamaican Rainstorm. It was a very well balanced cocktail that just screamed "tropical vacation".

I really like this lobby restaurant as a meeting spot with friends in the San Ramon area. Super nice servers, easy and simple. Good food. I especially like the soft pretzel, and there was a special appetizer one night of meatballs and they were delicious!

Hubby was in the mood for some elegance so we migrated over to the Marriott where we've stopped in for drinks and apps awhile back. The company I work for always holds their holiday parties here. Lunch was very good. The salmon was moist, seasoned perfectly served w a grilled lemon halve which went great over the entire dish. They also accommodated my substitution for squash with green veggies (thankfully) and a side of jasmine rice (since there was no pilaf available). Hubby's shrimp scampi was really good, the pasta was seasoned perfectly and you could tell the chef sautéed the pasta w fresh garlic. Shrimp were huge and plentiful for a lunch serving. We ended w a bit of dessert and a latte (since they did have almond milk (gratefully) another substitution for regular milk). Our server apologized for not having a clean table available immediately and cleaned the table for us. We realize we're in a place where there is a convention this weekend and travelers are sitting throughout the room. Every employe greeted us from the entrance of the hotel all the way to the restaurant, we've always enjoyed frequenting our local Marriott.

Yummy waffle crab cakes w/ a glass of Chardonnay

The service is top notch at this Marriott hotel restaurant. It is clearly evident that Marriott trains their staff to offer the best customer service. Started dinner with waffle crab cakes, named because they use a waffle iron to prepare these crab-filled gems. Served w/a jicama/mango slaw, they (2) could easily be a meal if you ordered a salad to go with them. Had the shrimp scampi served w/6 jumbo prawns. My bff had a rice bowl, also w/ prawns and lots of veggies. Don't turn your nose down at hotel food, this place is good!

Bishop Grill is located inside the Marriott. You are required to pay for parking but because it was a very slow weekday night, we were able to park in front. The service was great. The menu was not too extensive but it was delicious with reasonable prices. Definitely going again!

Steak look awesome

Came here for my girlfriends birthday and I'm glad we did. When we pulled up couldn't believe that it was in a hotel. I thought it wasn't going to have a classy look. As soon as you walk in the restaurant is directly in the back and it looked amazing very classy. I actually kinda felt under dressed. The staff made us feel right at home seated quickly and the waitress quickly took are orders for drinks. The staff was very attentive and we never had an empty glass. The food I ordered the steak asked for medium rare. Came out perfectly. Everything was delicious being local and always looking for a great place with great food and cocktails. I will be comming back and I will be recommending this establishment to my family and friends.

The people who run this place keep this place tidy and clean as evidenced by how quickly they cleared my glass and the cleanliness of the bathrooms. I missed the rock n' roll memo, but amazingly talented singers including the KJ himself. The sound system can be pretty loud especially the bass, so ended up keeping my ear plugs in. My only major reservation is how the karaoke queue is managed. Couldn't help but notice the bartenders and some patrons who generously tipped got to sing multiple times in a row. One of the patrons tipped $20 and sang three songs in a row. In comparison, I got one song in in the span of three hours. I kind of expected the place to start clearing out after midnight but ppl stuck around and seemed to be having a good time. If you're not into rock n' roll/metal karaoke, they also have pool, shuffleboard, and darts. I do like the KJ and the patrons here, though in the future, I'll just set the expectation that I'll get one song in and set a curfew for myself.

Once we had the food they were often checking in on us and refilling water and drinks. The drinks were very good, the mai tai and chi chi were exactly what was needed! Now the food... very disappointed. The ohana beef stew tasted very bland, and didn't have much of a Hawaiian flavor or vibe, felt like it could have been an Irish stew with the chunks of beef and veggies in a dark brown sauce. The ramen was very salty, and it didn't have much going for it either. The teriyaki chicken we added onto it was fine, but the flavor got lost once it went into the broth. I'm used to getting mac salad at a Hawaiian place so I was interested and excited to try a potato salad and cole slaw. The potato salad had a lot of flavor, but it did seem a little salty. The coleslaw might have been the best thing I ate there ... the pineapple chunks in it were very refreshing. I'd come back for a drink, and maybe an appetizer but I don't think I'd get an entree again.
