One of my plates of food for breakfast

Ballybunion .... what a funny weird name for a restaurant! This restaurant is located inside the Holiday Inn in Dublin. It's open for breakfast at 6am till 10am on weekdays and open till 11am on weekends. Then they close till dinner at 5pm. There is no lunch service here. It really basically just serves those staying at the hotel here as you don't have to drive anywhere for dinner or breakfast. It seems geared to the business traveler. The ambiance is not the best, just sort of utilitarian in a hotel. There is a full bar if you need that. I was here for breakfast. Breakfast is a buffet with an omelet and waffle making station, hot foods as well as cold cereals, fresh fruit, toasted muffins and breads, along with juices and coffee. The price is around $12-14 I think. I was able to get a free voucher from the front desk for my breakfast, so the price was right there. Just ask (real nice) if you're staying here at the hotel, good chance you'll get free breakfast. The buffet is way better than the free breakfasts you get a Holiday Inn Expresses that I frequent. The eggs are "real" eggs. The sausage and bacon is a higher quality as well. Most anyone will be satisfied with the breakfast served here, juice and coffee included. All you can eat too! Dinner is basically salads, burgers, some steaks and fried foods. Actually not bad what they do offer. I had a burger here once and it was actually decent and came with fries. You only eat dinner here if you're too tired or lazy to go out and drive somewhere, though there is an OutBack Steakhouse next door, but I think I might pick this place over that! You can put the tab on your hotel room if you're staying here. I'd say overall, better than most dedicated small hotel restaurants.

Service was prompt-quite fast really! Felt very transactional. These guys are fast as the wind. Impressive bar skills! I got my burger to go, but not many people here on a Monday night. Seems it's just business people. (Like me) its very much a diner type feel. But, it's the Ho-Inn....sooo, it's fine. What do you expect?

The food and bartender Paola were great - only reason I can't give more than 3 stars was the horrible ambience!! We were at the bar - behind us they were SO disruptive setting up for an event tomorrow!! When they started slamming down the dance floor tiles, I started losing it! It was so freaking loud!! It was like getting hit in the back of the head! I asked them to stop slamming them down and either they didn't care or couldn't understand English. We left as soon as we could get the check. Paola was very nice and friendly! Jalapeño poppers were inconsistent - 2 were way too spicy but 2 were good. The Baja chicken and chicken apple sesame salads were great! Wish they hadn't been so rude behind us!

    Cajun gumbo pasta.

Food was excellent, but the cocktails brought it down. We had the Cajun gumbo pasta and the rib eye steak. The stars are definitely for the food. Steak was cooked perfect and the pasta had just enough spices. As for the drinks, don't order anything special. Only order cocktails off the menu. If you ask for a Sex on the Beach, you will be wasting your money. It was like flavored water. Service was great! We wouldn't go back to eat dinner because the drinks were terrible.

The cashier, the waitress, bussers, the preps in the back all friendly. Oh the complimentary chips, salsa and Jamaica is amazing and delicious! Minus 2 stars because the older Hispanic looking lady with glasses is so rude and shouldn't be working up front with her negative vibes. We were watching how beautiful the kitchen plates their food. And me and my family love to make French toast and enjoyed the Ube French toast more because it's made with cinnamon bread. We were wondering what brand they used. That lady came over to us asking can she help us and asked what we were looking at. Geez lady it's an open kitchen can't we enjoy the view. Since she came over to us my sweet niece asked what brand of bread do they used for their French toast?? Isn't this a compliment?? Shees my family lives in Monterey and are not planning on opening a breakfast spot anytime soon LOL! She was straight rude gatekeeping and walked away with no reply hella rude and embarrassing you treat my niece like that! WTH we spend tons of money there and you can't even reply back kindly or with grace!! Keep that energy in the back or outside the door lady! Is it that serious and to treat your customers like they don't matter when we are the reason you're getting a pay check!! Denica I hope you read this I wonder if the other reviews from customer about the lady upfront is the same one we all are talking about??? To all the other customers who wonder what their delicious bread they use for the Ube French toast it's from a local bakery in alameda SemiFreddis cinnamon twist bread! Lady you should be grateful they are your suppliers and share the love! 2 stars took away only because the lady was rude no smile and messes up the good vibes and experience at Denica's!

Right now they have a fireside favorites menu -- $15 only for an entree and side and dessert! I got the burger (with veggie patty) with fries (elevated to truffle fries) and banana pudding. Everything was excellent! We also got the shrimp tacos which was pretty good -- not as good as at the local taqueria but still not bad. We ended up waiting a little over hour before being seated. No apologies were given or any new communication on the wait times. We got drinks right away but took a while to get our order. We asked multiple times for the dog menus and water bowls to be told that they ran out of menus and told us the two options. Water bowls were given towards the end of our lunch. We ordered nachos for the table as a starter but was served with the rest our food. When they came out with our food, it was three people yelling out our orders and would either hand it to someone at the table to hand it to another person on the other end of the table or slam it down on the table. Also, one server was only holding one plate and waited for my husband to get up, walk over, and get his food from him. Odd. Unprofessional. Unhospitable.

The food is cooked to perfection. The presentation is outstanding. They have a wide variety of different plates so no matter what somebody in your group wants there will be something for them. Their signature drinks are to die for this time I had a peachy king and lemon drop. I wanted to order the hoppy hour but it was so popular that they were sold out. I've come during the week and on the weekend. It doesn't matter which time I've come it's been GREAT! Today I came on a Sunday and they actually have a Sunday brunch where they have a live DJ they play music. They have shots going around it's fun and if you're going out with the family like I did today, you can sit in the upper area that's away from everyone else having the brunch fun. It was still fine even though we brought the kids and sat in the upper area. We could still hear the music and enjoy ourselves. I would highly recommend this place. It's a shame that I live so far away in Tracy that I only get to come once in a while because if I lived closer, I would come every weekend.!!! The desserts are so good!!!

They had gone to their original location in Livermore in the past and were surprised to have found it moved. We had very friendly service and excellent cocktails. If you want to get a Boilermaker, they can get it for you (off of HH) - friend asked what types of whiskey they had and our server pulled out a whole BOOK! Cocktails were all tasty and quite complex. We all really enjoyed them: Brat summer, Frose (they only had one slushie ready - and it was boozy!), Peach Don't Kill My Vibe, and She's Gone Green. I like that they only had low ABV cocktails and mocktails, although your choices are limited to 1 in each category if you can't have grapefruit for medical reasons. We were tempted by the food but were still full from brunch - I have a feeling that we'll be back for those Duck Fat fries!

I can't remember all the names, but in the pictures I posted, the yellow drink was the sweetest and didn't really taste like alcohol, so that was our favorite. The espresso martini was great, and the lavender drink I got was really good too. Overall, though, we would all probably pick the yellow drink over the others. The food itself was incredible. I got the corn ravioli pasta, which was sweeter than I expected, but I should have guessed that from the ingredients. It was still delicious. The jambalaya was by far the best dish at the table, though. Absolutely incredible. The Chinese noodles also had an amazing presentation.
