Coffee house off of Cully. Only 'complaint' is coffee is spendy but it was very good. Service was great too. Located on the side of the street, I passed it often and finally decided to stop in. I was able to go to Bison last weekend,. I will first start off by saying V ladies working behind the counter were incredibly helpful and insightful on letting my daughter and I know all about the coffee shop. It was our first time visiting, they made us feel like we were regulars. I had my usual iced latte with oat milk and honey and I'd like to say it's one of the better ones that I've had in Portland so far. They have their own homemade pastries that they make their in-house. This is a must for people that are trying to find a new coffee shop, this place is outstanding and I have a feeling it's gonna become one of my regular weekend go to's. Ran in for a quick coffee to take with me on the road, and was pleasantly surprised! The shop was clean and uniquely decorated. Tik Tok got hyperlocal and recommended this place to me while I'm in town. So while my wife and I were running around I suggested we check this place out. The exterior and interior are super cool, really cool vibes with a ton of stuff to look at. The coffee was better than a lot of places I've been to in Portland, and the the molasses cookie I got was soft, chewy, and really tasty. The staff were fine; they kinda seemed bothered by us asking a few questions about their baked goods (nothing is really labeled so we had to ask), but they weren't like completely rude or anything. Easy street parking and we were able to get in and out in just a couple of minutes. But there's also a lot of tables if you want to dine in. Overall, pretty good coffee shop. This should have been a 5-star review. 8:05am on a Sunday morning, had just opened. Baristas were super chatty and friendly. Order came up fast. Flat white was delicious. Chairs were comfy, lots of wood furniture. Liked the art. Vibes were great. Until I was about to leave, and saw a stack of Chris Dudley bumper stickers and brochures. Asked the baristas about it, was told they hosted him for a campaign event two weeks earlier. Automatic 1 star. I'd give them zero stars if Yelp allowed it. [Ambiance] I love how intentionally the cafe was set up and decorated. Bison Coffee House is Portland's only Native-owned coffee establishment. It is a safe space for Natives, and also support veterans. The cafe is very spacious and beautiful. I love the flowers out front and the natural light inside. [Drink] I tried one of the seasonal specials--a hot brown butter latte with oat milk. Delicious! You get a choice of light, medium or dark roast espresso. I opted for dark and it was smooth and delicious. [Other] I bought a shirt-sleeve shirt to support the local business for only $22. High quality and cute design. [Service] The two employees that helped me were very patient, kind and helpful. I asked a lot of questions and was met with a level of patience that unfortunately is rare in cafes. My favorite part of this coffee house is the option to pick what type of roast you would like your espresso drink made from. I've tried their medium roast and decaf selection and both are full bodied, rich and incredibly smooth. Baristas are always lovely and answer all my questions. I visited Bison Coffee House a few weeks ago. I came there to work and to read. The space is decorated so well. I love the bison head. There are also a ton of drinks to choose from and a great selection of pastries. The service was friendly. There's also a nice back patio area as well. I got a sweet cream scone that had berries in it and a chai. The scone was soft, buttery, and delicious. The chai was good. Since I was at the shop for awhile, I got a second drink. The other drink that I got was a strawberry matcha which was equally delicious as the other things. I'll definitely come back here and I highly recommend that you check out this coffee shop. read more

This little coffee shop is a special place! I visited four times last week while filling in on a different route during work. My first visit I got a medium roast Americano and cheddar bacon biscuit. The Americano was well-balanced, crisp, and smoky and the biscuit was fresh, buttery, and light served at the perfect temperature. Everything I got throughout the rest of the week was fantastic switching to a medium roast coffee w cream and sugar most days that were consistently delicious and the perfect midday boost. The mozzarella spinach biscuit, everything bagel, and blueberry muffin I purchased were similarly spot on! The talented staff are welcoming and very personable. 10/10! After landing in Portland we were hungry and needed coffee really bad. Found this little spot and was really happy with the lattes that we ordered and all the breakfast and pastries that we ordered. Many of us have probably zoomed past this coffee house without realizing there was a jem sitting there waiting to be noticed all along. Sure it's on a busy road but it is definitely worth the pull over. They utilize a walk up window for now. And there's some outdoor seating. I ordered a bacon cheddar biscuit, a brownie and a warm bourbon apple cider. I ate the brownie too fast for pics (that's how good it was). The biscuit was unbelievable. I haven't had a biscuit in portland that wasn't semi hard by the time it was in my hands so this was a huge plus for me. And my drink was delicious. I went there a week ago, though I live about 10 miles away, to show support. I am happy to say I had to wait in a long line of people who seemed to be a combination of local residents the employees and owner knew by name and people there for the first time asking about different things on the menus, people in fine attire and those more humbly dressed. Truly was a coming together of different types, which isn't that what "diversity" is? People leaving extra large tips and also contributing to a recovery fund, nobody asking about political affiliation, gender identity, sexual preference, just standing in line together to support a local (minority-owned) business that was a victim of trying to bring a community together. read more

Stopped by Bison on our way to PDX this morning because I missed it the last time I was in the area. We got two iced lattes, the Sundance with a medium roast and the Black Lavender with a light roast, both with oat milk and a blackberry muffin. These were two of the best lattes I've had in a long time! The Sundance is sage and mint - which adds a unique taste to a latte, but in my opinion pairs perfectly with oat milk. The Black Lavender has a nice floral flavor that's not too strong, and paired well with the light roast. Just stop - you won't be disappointed. read more

This wonderful coffee house is a MUST visit while in Portland, yes there're many coffee shops within walking distance from Bison, and a popular donut shop, but Bison Coffee House will warm your soul and provide well crafted coffee drinks, as well as, pastries. One thing that I love about Bison, is that they offer "sugar free" syrups like, Vanilla, Hazelnut, and my favorite, Caramel. Way to look out for ALL your customers Bison. What makes this place special is the coffee beans, and it shows out in all their drinks, I personally love their dark roast. But there is MORE... I paid $40 for two coffees and two pieces of quiche. The coffee is OK. The quiche is absolutely disgusting like one of the worst pieces of quiche I've ever had egg is overcooked to shit like they just microwave nuke the thing to cook it and absolutely zero salt it's also eight dollars for this little slice of quiche. this place sucks. Don't go here. I really need you to understand how bad it is $40 for two tiny pieces of quiche and two coffees. That is absolutely fucking ridiculous. read more

Very cool place but be careful with their pos system , I was charged twice at the counter and then had to wait until they could figure it out which they did not and I had to call my bank to get it taken care of . No one wants to be charged $80 for their morning coffee these days. And the next day I had to call my bank again because I was definitely charged 2x. Which caused me to overdraft . Bring cash if you plan on getting a beverage from here to avoid your own hassle. When I called to tell them about this I was met with big attitude. It's the only Native American owned and operated coffee place in Portland? Yes please! On my visit there were three young Navajo women who were visiting from Arizona and New Mexico. They made it a point to visit due to the ownership. How cool! So did I. Gotta support all the BIPOC businesses. Yes there are Bison related items everywhere, on the walls, furniture and even the bathroom. I had an espresso with a bubbly water and a spicy Chai. I went with the medium roast and the espresso had more depth than usual, a nice surprise. The Chai was a bit sweet for my taste, but the spicy part was on point. We stopped by this cute place on a short trip to Portland. I got an Americano and my partner got a coffee. The coffee was good. The lady who took our order wasn't overly friendly (Not rude, just not friendly either), but the man making our coffees was friendly and even asked us what type of roast we preferred. We also got a spinach mozzarella biscuit and a sweet cream scone. The biscuit was cheesy goodness! The scone wasn't overly sweet which was good. Parking is a bit tricky.
