From a business that claims to be about "soil regeneration" and wanting to "inspire people to make daily choices that count for soil regeneration within the coffee industry and among other agriculture-based products." Visited Portland for a wedding and this hidden gem happened to be walking distance from our Airbnb. The interior of this place is cozy and inviting. I love the warm lighting and plants inside. The employees match the vibe of the aesthetics. Super friendly and chill. Now to the most important part - the coffee! Their coffee is strong and not too sweet. It has the perfect balance for my caffeine needs. I loved this place so much, I stopped by a couple times during my stay. The pistachio latte was good, I'd order that drink again. Listen. I lived in Montavilla a long time ago. back when this part of Glisan was not just somewhat sketchy, but truly perilous. Am I glad that there is now a third-wave cafe here? Yes. Do I feel a little jealous that the people who now live here, who are for better or for worse responsible for driving housing prices up by 150% are the ones who get to enjoy this delicious coffee, and not me, the person who in theory pioneered non-methheads living in the area? Yes. I am indeed very salty about that fact. Does this cafe deserve to suffer because of my animosity? No. This place is great. It's improving the 'hood. The coffee is good. The pastries are serviceable. The service is what you would expect of any third-wave place in PDX: The people behind the counter are soft-spoken nonbinary trust fund kids trying their hand at a "cool" job while mommy and daddy subsidize their rent in a neighborhood where actual working adults can no longer afford to live. If you live in the area, or need a pit stop on your way to the airport, the car wash, or your job at the lingerie shack on 82nd (but you still have taste) this is your place. It's cute as hell, there's ample seating, it's relatively safe, and the vittles are totally serviceable and rise to my exacting standards when it comes to cafes. I wish they'd opened 10 years ago so I could be a regular. Alas, I was pushed out of the 'hood by the very same people who came in and bought houses at prices I couldn't afford. Nevertheless, on my many (many) trips to and from the airport, this will be my go-to (since the BiPi's coffee is less than alluring). read more

This place is a refreshing haven in an often overlooked part of NE Portland. Not pretentious but irrefutably legit... definitely worth a visit or three. Stopped in to check it out and was very impressed with the decor and overall atmosphere. The bathrooms were clean and the service was friendly enough. The menu had impressive range. They even roast their own beans and sell them in a beautiful arrangement. The mocha was delicious and balanced. The temperature was perfect. And the art on top was uplifting for my tired soul. I bought a single origin Panama roasted bag for hubby (who is a coffee roaster, I mean, lover) and a matcha latte for myself (I love matcha but it was a tad too earthy for me). I appreciate that they had the roast date on the bags. Went home and did a drip of their coffee and it was very delicious. Place was spacious, clean, and very Portland, if I do say so myself. I have never had anything like it and would order again. You could taste the sourdough in the flaky crust of the danish and there was just enough Nutella to spread into every bite. The salmon lox was delicious. Well seasoned and not overly salty. My partner had the breakfast sandwich. It was made to order on a fresh roll with just the right amount of meat and cheese. I really wanted to love this adorable little coffee shop, but I just couldn't. The space itself is very cute with big windows and a lot of natural lighting. This would make for a great study spot or somewhere to get work done. Location is good with plenty of street parking. The barista was also very friendly and greeted us right when we walked through the door. But the drinks were not good, in my opinion. We ordered an oat milk latte and a matcha latte. The shop itself is quite spacious and so flipping cute!! It's got plants everywhere, high ceilings, and enough work space for people to get stuff done. I was visiting from the central coast, CA and found this place to be my go-to coffee spot while visiting. They had nice seating outside so I could leave my dog at a table while going in to order.
