My wife, daughter, and I stopped by on a Friday night to check out Bison after giving it a few weeks to work out any kinks that can be associated with opening a new restaurant. We live nearby and were excited to finally go there. The building itself formerly housed an Applebees and the layout was the same as the last time we'd eaten there when it was an Applebees. No big deal for us because Bison has added their own touches and we were there for the food anyway. We were seated in a booth and immediately greeted by our server who gave us menus. The menu itself is large enough to happily suit anyone looking for beef, fish, chicken, or pork. We ordered a blooming onion for the table which was brought to us soon after ordering. I haven't had one in years, but this was much better than I remember. You know how the breading would fall off the onion at other restaurants who serve the blooming onion/awesome blossom? This was not the case at Bison. All batter stayed put and had a great flavor - a hint of black pepper - and wasn't greasy. I ordered a cowboy ribeye cooked medium, and my wife and daughter opted to split a medium rare filet and sea bass. I'll say the entrees and sides were the highlights of the meal. Steaks were cooked and seasoned perfectly and the cuts of aged beef were very flavorful and tender. I love a ribeye but they can sometimes have a lot of gristle if the cut is inferior. Quite the opposite at Bison - I ate happily. My wife wished her filet had been cut a little thicker but enjoyed the flavor immensely. But her favorite was the sea bass. She said she could eat it daily. The Brussels sprouts were amply portioned and had a tasty balsamic glaze and the side salad was good as well. My daughter's ranch dressing was good and tasted fresh as did our chunky blue cheese. Service was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. Nothing bad to say about them at all. Things I think could be improved: The rolls were meh - a bit dry and lacking flavor. Not a deal breaker at all and the least important part of the meal. We also wished the bar was a bit more diverse because we enjoy a nice cocktail or beer at a restaurant. My wife asked why types of gin they had was given only two options. I noticed their draft and canned beer choices were very limited in the craft beer department. I would've liked to have seen local craft beer options since we have many good craft breweries in the Tulsa area. I believe locally owned restaurants need to have some local alcoholic beverage options to really show they're part of the local community. But maybe they're working on this and I just don't know about it. TLDR, go to Bison and enjoy a very good meal. They're a welcome addition to South BA. read more

I went here with family after another steak house had a 1 hour wait. One of our party suggested Bison steakhouse. The food was amazing! Sirloin, rib eye, chopped steak smothered with onions and mushrooms with brown gravy. Sides amazing. Brussel sprouts, cabbage rolls, dolmas, asparagus, tabouli. So good! Great service. First time here & last time here. Service was a little slow & the server forgot some of our order until we were almost done eating. Each of the four of us ordered something different and each of us agreed the food was under seasoned & bland. Nothing was terrible but just very mediocre. Been here twice. It's kinda loud, but that's because it's been packed both times, on a Saturday & Thursday. ... someone sitting in the booth with her back to mine asked the waitress what the difference was between the bison & a steak. I wanted to turn around and say 'about 20 bucks', but I didn't. Portions are huge. I've had leftovers for the next day. This place is really good. With that being said, it probably won't last. Fast attentive service. Lots of TVs not on the same channel! Good lighting level, low noise level, temperature was not noticed so it must have been good. Had the CFS, asparagus, mashed. Def freshly breaded and fried after ordering. All hot and tasty, gravy on too was a tad runnier than I prefer but still great. Will ne back! read more

Seems like a nice place at 1st, but the owner is the rudest person I've met in a long time. No respect for employees or others and doesn't care about sanitary conditions. Both kitchen sinks have no soap and most employees don't even wash their hands. read more

Not really there are better places for the $$$ and if you order a drink from the bar make sure you wipe the rim. We sat and watched every bartender handle the rim of each glass when making a drink. The green beans looked so good but were terrible not sure what seasoning they used. Chicken fried steak seams to be popular but mostly batter so if you like that you might like it. The potato skin appetizer is as barely warm, scarce bacon and tasted like old potatoes. The food presentation is decent but it's much better than the taste. Second time here tonight. First time was a few days after opening. Set at the bar and service was great. Ordered the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy and a salad. CFC was so so, definitely not the best in town! Mashed potatoes and gravy were cold. To add I ate at dinner time and waited ~15-20 minutes to be seated. Today however, roughly 650pm, I waited at the host stand for several minutes to be seated. Over half the restaurant is empty. The girl that set me said "can I help you". Once seated it took the server 9 minutes to greet me. Now to add he appeared to have multiple tables but did walk past me several times and never said hello I'll be with you in just a moment nothing. I've worked in the restaurant so I try to forgive when they're busy but tonight I could not. He took my food and drink order. Drink comes out in a glass with some white stuff hardened on the inside of the cup but he is no where to be found to ask for a new drink. Silverware is dirty. Food comes out and mashed potatoes are yet again ice cold. Corn is warm, not hot, but tastes like it's been sitting for hours, really no flavor. Ask for a new drink and new cup arrives with the same white stuff on the inside. I'm not sure what it was, almost like batter hardened onto the cup it would not come off with the straw. Then I had to wait another 15 minutes just for him to come buy again to get my check to pay and leave. Also the rolls that come out could be better if they were store bought, very bland and thin. Cinnamon butter is hard as a rock (frozen) - hard to spread. So twice now the food has been next to terrible. Service great the first time, not great the second time. Dirty dishes the second time. Will not be back and do not recommend. Texas Roadhouse is an extra 10 minute drive for way better food, more food choices, better service, and ability to get on the wait list through their app to avoid waiting when you arrive. read more

Wife and I came for dinner on a Sunday. We had seen reviews and wanted to try something new. The staff is friendly and we were sat in a booth on the quieter side. It is an old apple bees building with a bar top and TVs in the middle. We were excited for our meal. I got the Bison T Bone, wife got the Mediterranean trio. The food is where stars are lost. For a place called bison steakhouse I would have expected my t bone to be much better. There were only 2 maybe 3 things that were listed as bison and the t bone is one of the most expensive things in their menu. The t bone itself would have been good for 1/2 the price but not at what they list it. It was cooked correctly but I expected a larger/thicker steak for the price. My sides (mashed potato's and roasted corn) were not impressive either. Potatoes looked boxed and corn could have been canned. Corn portion was generous, potatoes were not. Wife hardly touched her meal, took two bites of the tabouli maybe. Trio portions were generous. Sadly won't be going back, had hoped it would be a place we could take our kids (and maybe there's value at that end of the menu) but we will go elsewhere. read more

The sirloin steak was so tuff that I could not eat it. I tried but ended up sending 75% of the steak back. I'm giving a single star rating because the website won't let me rate the restaurant any lower. read more

This restaurant can be located in the old Applebees location. The interior setup hasn't changed much but it is decorated nicely. The service was average during our visit. The food was decent but my steak was undercooked. The cabbage rolls were awesome! Highly recommend the cabbage rolls and they aren't my favorite. read more

Food was pretty good! We got the 14oz Ribeye cooked like we wanted it, baked potatoes were fresh. However, we ordered a appetizer and we never got it!! When we asked why?, they said... sorry we are just busy tonight! Asked if we wanted it to go but of course no comp on anything!! Server was hard to find. Barely came around. It was overpriced for the subpar quality of the food they served. I ordered my steak medium, and the outside was burnt to a crisp while the inside was closer to medium rare, and I also don't think they used any seasonings. The side of asparagus that I ordered tasted like it had been boiled. The steak my husband ordered should've had nice marbling, but instead, the fat was all on one side, and it also wasn't seasoned. The service was a bit slow but we thought they were probably still trying to learn a good rhythm. The inside of the restaurant looks identical to what used to be in that building, so I don't think they spend any time or money thinking about what kind of atmosphere they wanted to present. We were hoping to finally have a good and affordable steak place in BA, but this isn't going to be it. read more

Tried this for the first time today since it opened in Oct 2023. The food was excellent. All portions were large and seasoned to perfection. We could not eat all we got and left extremely satisfied. It is new owners and it definitely shows based on the food quality and wait staff. If you want a great meal with great service do yourself a favor and take a night out to the Bison Steakhouse in BA. Looks great from outside, and their food is probably great...however we timed out before we were given an opportunity to try it. I would like to first say their parking and entrance are tricky especially if you have someone who is handicap with you. Saw no Handicap parking signs/spaces. You cannot park right in front of the door because the building is elevated and there is a railing forcing you to walk way right or way left to either navigate a set of stairs or walk up a LONG ADA ramp...once you get to it. Upon entering, there was no one to greet and seat us at the Hostess stand. A server in the bar noticed we were waiting to be seated and that no one was around to help us. She kindly stopped what she was doing and came to seat us. She got us waters and told us who our server was and that she would be with us shortly. We read through the menu, closed it, and mulled over our decisions while we waited....and waited...and waited. However no-one ever came not even to so much as to greet us and let us know we were on their radar. After being seated for over 15 minutes and watching the server make multiple repeat stops at all the tables around us, but never ours (not even with eye contact) we decided it was time to go somewhere else if we wanted to eat. Just to note it was not a busy time. It was well past the dinner rush and they were probably only half full. This is probably only on one server and not the entire restaurant...but then again I was shocked that not even a manager was noticing the lengthy wait and checking in on us. It was very odd. read more
