Visiting Newark, and while staying at the Double Tree Hotel this was the restaurant at the hotel. We didn't do room service, we took back to room first night, second we are at restaurant. Both experiences were pretty good. The wings both night were cooked to my liking. The fire cracker shrimp the second night, made up for the bad batch the night before. Cook didn't shake basket, shrimp were stuck together. Burger was outstanding, and pepperoni pizza passed the test of my 8 and 3 year old.... Our server was pleasant. Service is horrible! Everyone waiting for drinks while the bartender wanders around talks to the servers and puts dishes ahead of paying customers. Food was ok for a hotel but the wait for service isn't worth the wait. I will not stay at this hotel again. I've been waiting to pay the bill for 20 minutes. Ready to walk. What a joke! I ordered a medium rare steak and I got a burnt steak. I did not eat the food. I was only offered a 50% refund on steak something that I did not eat. I ordered a burger for my child and made his stomach hurt. It's better to order Uber Eats. read more

We were on vacation returning from Latvia, many hours of flying, totally worn out, and our airline, UA, cancels our flight home to Miami until the next day at 3:00 pm! We had to stay at the Doubletree Inn by Hilton Hotels Newark Airport overnight. We were hungry and went downstairs to their restaurant, Bistro 128. The ambiance was fine. The food was ok except for the asparagus, which was overcooked and dried up so bad that it was inedible. It was $5 for a 16-ounce bottle of water when you can buy 24 bottles for $5 at Costco. Unbelievable. Prices were high on the menu. But we had no other choice. The service was a little on the slow side, but the servers were friendly. We were very tired after all the hassles at the airport, so slow service was ok with us this time. read more

So gross. I paid $22 for an omelette and coffee. The coffee tasted like airplane coffee - they don't even have fresh milk, no almond milk or anything besides chemical creamers. The omelette was so dry, rubbery and didn't even come with a side. You have to order at the bar - no sit down service. read more

Your typical Airport hotel restaurant. In general, the food was bland and expensive. The "Calamari" appetizer looked like onion rings and was awful. Got a chicken Caesar salad, it was good but not over the top. Service was okay but confusing who is your actual server, they definitely didn't work to hard. Normally a restaurant like this would get a 4 from me, not amazing but I have had worse hotel restaurants. The "Starbucks Lite" gets a Zero. All three mornings I came down, between 8 and 10am, the service was atrocious. All three mornings they where out of all breakfast sandwiches. Only one time they even had a bagel. I got it with cream cheese, or more the essence of cream cheese. Drip coffee tasted old, and cooler then a normal cup of coffee is, at 8am. Went with Lattes the next two mornings. read more

Food was decent, service slow and ambiance is very nice but the tables and floors are absolutely disgustingly filthy!!!!! There was ketchup smeared on the floors under our table (which i could help but step in, ugh!) and all types of food and sauces that were stuck and/or loose on the base of our table. Crumbs and salt sprinkles on our table left from previous guests on our table. My placemat had smeared avocado on it and my knife was placed on top so I needed a new placement and utensils. If I don't get sick from eating here, it will be a miracle!!! Also as we were leaving, I noticed that the floors around all the booths and tables were filthy. I stopped in Bistro 128 for an early lunch with some colleagues prior to a networking event at the hotel. We were expecting bare-bones hotel fare, but we were pleasantly surprised by the nice options on the menu. We split the spring rolls and the peanut chicken lettuce wraps for our appetizer. The presentation of both items was exceptionally nice. For lunch, two of us had the turkey avocado open-faced sandwich. The other two had the burger and the chicken Panini. Presentation-wise, everything was fabuloso. We were surprised! The plates were nicely decorated. It was as if we were dining at an upscale establishment. Not bad for the Sheraton! The only negative is that the French fries were very well done. That suited two members of our party just fine, as they like their fries on the burnt side. Who knew? Service was really slow, so if you need to catch a flight, you might want to opt for the buffet instead. read more

I normally avoid hotel restaurants when traveling and today Bistro 128 reminded me why. Had dinner here tonight (because there is literally nothing else nearby) and it was a 2.5 star dinner on it's own. The whole experience borders on a 1 star for the following reasons: 1) Service is terrible. We walked in, waited 3 minutes to be seated and then were not so much as looked at for a solid 15 minutes (no exaggeration here). It takes getting up and and asking the bartender if there is a waitstaff tonight to finally get someone to come by. 2) Food quality. The food takes about 15 minutes to come out (not a problem that's fairly normal in a sit down restaurant) and when it does I am presented with a dry and cold (supposed to be hot) chicken sandwich, luke-warm fries and...wait for it....CANNED mushrooms on the sandwich. There should be a disclaimer on the menu saying we use canned (nasty) mushrooms on our food.....our $13 chicken sandwich our $25 pasta dish. 3) Price. Did I mention the food was mediocre at best yet the prices are outrageous. Any dinner item is $20 and up and the usual fare of sandwiches/burgers are $13 and up. I asked for a side salad instead of fries, got the salad which was decent but the fries came out anyway and then the side salad ends up on the bill as a separate $6 charge! That's ok if the food is REALLY good but...well see point #2 it's not. So I ended up paying $19 plus tax and tip for a meal that was at best an $8 meal anywhere else in the country. So in conclusion....order out and stay away from this place, it looks nice from the outside but the food and prices are bad bad bad. read more

This is my first time staying at this hotel near Newark airport. I decided against going out to a local restaurant because of the crazy New Jersey and New York City traffic. I figured since this restaurant was located inside the hotel, I would be safe from the madness at 5:30pm. I started off with a house salad and then the shrimp stir fry for my entree. Overall, I would consider my meal as average. If it wasn't for the convenience, I would probably try another restaurant the next time. read more

Not that I expected a lot anyhow but I was hoping. Ordered from the bar, a Philly Cheesesteak. What I got, well if I were from Philly, I'd be pissed off! Basically I got an Arby's roast beef and cheddar with pickled jalapeños. I'd say the Arby's roast beef was even better. And for $15.00 I could have eaten twice at Arby's. While staying at the Sheraton, I had breakfast at Bistro 128. I had the breakfast buffet, which was pretty much your standard hotel breakfast buffet type of food - not bad, not great, but definitely a hit when you're up early in the morning in a hotel and want some breakfast and coffee. I'm giving them 4 stars because the F&B/restaurant manager was very friendly. He came by to make sure everything was okay, and after explaining to him that it took me forever to get there from CA, that I had to stay in the hotel due to arriving at Newark Airport very late at night, and that I paid for continental breakfast but didn't get it due to a front desk issue (the front desk ended up giving me a comped continental breakfast coupon for Bistro 128, and the hostess let me know that if I decided to have hot food, not just continental items, I would need to pay an extra $1.50), he comped (the $1.50) my breakfast and told me to have a great trip. Inside the Newark Sheraton Airport hotel, behind the lobby, down a long hallway, across from some ballrooms. Had lunches here, ordered a 2 Chicken salad, Asian Salad and Salmon . Entrees ranged from $15-25 for lunch. Like they offered sweet tea. Beautiful presentation of your meal of colored plates. The staff was extremely attentive. Also offered a breakfast buffet for $13. They extended the hours for our dance convention because there were so many who attended. The usual breakfast buffet fair, nothing outstanding. Had a to go club sandwich, had to return to get ketchup for the fries. $11.
