Me and my girlfriend went to eat there 4-10-26. They sat us at a table and we sat there for close to 15 minutes without a single person coming to bring us water or anything at all. So we walked out. We walked down the street and walked back and passed the restaurant and saw that our table wasn't even touched. The napkins still laying on the table. The next day we went to the downtown farmers market and decided to call in an order, they put me on hold for over 20 minutes until I had to hang up. The WORST service I've ever heard of!

Dinner special-sea bass with charred broccolini and a white bean purée

Was in town for work, and this place came recommended by the Marriott, and I'm glad I came! It's located DT Turlock, and has a nice patio with white linen table cloths. The waitress was really friendly and always has a smile on her face! For an app I got the spinach salad, it comes with creamy goat cheese, candied nuts, dried cranberries, pickled onions and capers! The flavors all went nicely with each other. For my main, I got their special, which was sea bass. It was served with charred broccolini and a bean purée, and the fish had a sweet sauce on it. It was good, but maybe a tad too sweet for me. I would definitely come back again, the next time I'm in town!

Happy New Year! We had the pleasure of celebrating New Year's Eve together by dining at Bistro 234. Luckily we had made reservations because they were very busy. The atmosphere was festive with couples and larger groups dressed to celebrate the end of another year. We were seated promptly and proceeded to order pre-dinner cocktails. I then ordered the spinach salad and my husband had the meatballs as our starters. Very good! For dinner I selected the sea bass which was a special and am I glad I did! I absolutely LOVE sea bass and will almost always order it if it is available. This sea bass was served on top of a risotto with asparagus. Divine! My husband had the short ribs which he raved about. Even though we were both pretty full from our meals, we split the tiramisu for dessert which is always a treat! Our server Shawn was a delight. So friendly yet very professional and efficient. We did not have to wait long between courses which was nice. Bistro 234 is one of our favorite places to dine especially when we are celebrating a special occasion or just want a nice date night venue. We can't wait until our next visit!

Mushroom sandwich and fries and salad

This place is in a nice location in downtown and usually fairly easy parking when I drive through there, might be a little more packed on weekends, but plenty of side streets have parking as well. I came here with my cousin on a weekday, the place was fairly empty with only a few other tables occupied. The restaurant is very well decorated and there is plenty of seating inside and the patio. We sat at one of the high top bar tables and enjoyed people watching. The food is delicious. I got the mushroom sandwich which is a tad messy to eat but so good I didn't mind. Cousin got a salad which she enjoyed. Pricing is fairly typical, though more than I usually like to spend for a casual lunch.

We went with our dog. Outside seating with white linen table cloths. Quiet and nice atmosphere. We ordered onion soup, iceberg lettuce salad and braised short ribs. Food was excellent and service was great with class. I'd recommend this restaurant for anyone.

Came here on a work trip and it was incredibly good!! We were appreciative they could fit our party of 10. Our server was very nice and helpful in choosing wines. We had a charcuterie board, olives, gnocchi, half chicken, Caesar salad, and cioppino. It was all to die for. Probably the richest and most flavorful gnocchi I have had in my life. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly!

The food was delicious, service was impeccable, and ambiance was relaxing! A perfect dinner spot for date night or a friends night out. We had the lasagna, penne pasta, and bruschetta. All of the food was absolutely delicious. Will be returning!

Sorry for the late review. This was on Feb.18, it was my birthday dinner and everything was scrumptious as always, definitely the highlight of the evening.

When I got there, there were still some empty open tables, however, as I was leaving, it seems like they're just about all filled up. I got the Mr. milkman cocktail and it was pretty tasty, although I did notice how it appeared, as if there were a lot of wines and other beverages that they were out of. Even with my cocktail, they had to substitute the base with soda water, although it was still tasty. There was probably about 7 to 8 wines/sakes that were crossed out on the menu. Food came out fast, and the service was decent on that chefs end. I got the Korean Stone bowl dish, and It was pretty tasty, although fairly expensive for what it was... rice, veggies, and a little bit of beef, but I do like the concept of having a hot bowl that progressively warms up the rest of the food inside. I really do wish there was more meat inside for the price, I feel like only two or three bites had beef. One thing that I really noticed (and I think I noticed even more because I was sitting at the bar) was how servers and the bartenders spent a lot more time conversing with their friends (who were sitting at the bar) then checking in on some of the other people. Someone did approach me to put in my drink order, but I flagged down the server to put all my other food orders in. I don't think anybody came and asked how my meal was either. I do enjoy the overall ambience of the place, dim mood lighting, a minimalist esthetic, and a bar that really nicely displays some of their high end liquors.

The food was always top notch! After the first ownership change, it seemed to have lost it's value a bit. I went last year and I'm not sure who was the owner at that time, but it seemed to be back up to par. A few weeks ago, some girlfriends and myself stopped by for dinner and drinks. My friend wanted an indigeny and we were told they were out and that the menu was most likely inaccurate regarding beers, due to how often they change them. She wanted a cider and was told dustbowl strawberry margarita is a cider. It is in fact a seltzer and not what she wanted. I asked for a mango mojito and was told they were out of mint. I'd decided to order anyway and when the drink arrived, it was not flavored at all. I asked if it was mango and he said no and went to change it, saying the bartender got mixed up. While it was better as mango, a mojito needs mint. One of my friends ordered fries and what came to the table was not what we would consider fries. It was slices of potato and I didn't find it to have much seasoning. Another friend ordered arancini and an artichoke, while the last friend ordered arancini with tomato sauce on the side. Her arancini arrived with the tomato sauce on the bowl and not on side as requested and the waiter took it back to fix it. The artichoke was not cleaned, leaving the choke (fuzzy part) in the middle and my friend had started to eat it. At $18 for an artichoke, it should be cleaned correctly. The anancini were tasty and I enjoyed both the tomato and the pesto sauce that accompanied it. Before we ordered our mains, the waiter came back to say they were out of burgers and the cut of steak for both the black and bleu and the Jack Daniel's steaks, but could sub a ribeye instead. Ribeyes were market price vs the $37 of those 2 items. I was going to get the black and bleu, but then decided I would try to fish of the day. It was a white fish with a cream sauce and baby shrimp over mashed potatoes and green beans and I thought it was done very well. The fish was flaky, the mash creamy and the green beans had just enough bite! I ended up ordering another drink, but opted for wine to make it more simple. One of my friends had the chicken fettuccine Alfredo and she thought it was OK. While I had hoped for a better experience, I will probably return to see if things are the same or they were just having an off day.

The reviews about the loud music is true and it's not changing any time soon…read more I visited for dinner ~6:30pm. Immediately when walking in I noticed the music was overwhelmingly loud. It felt more like a club scene rather than a nice dinner spot. I asked if the waitress could lower the music and she said they weren't allowed to touch it. Upon seeing the reviews of this place, I see why. The business owner claims that they're trying to curate a "lively atmosphere" and it's "not for everyone". That's wack. If half of your reviews are telling you the music is too loud, lower it. I could barely hear my partner speak and had to read lips just to try to have a conversation. Plus some of the waitstaff were changing songs midway through or skipping songs. It was distracting. On top of that, the main dishes do not come with a side. Every single side option is an up charge. I knew when ordering the salmon, that it wouldn't come with a side. But everyone should note that you're spending $25 on an 8oz salmon and two slices of lemon with not a single side. No rice, no nothing. To be honest, you can go to Texas Roadhouse and get the same exact thing for the same exact price and get two sides for free. Plus you're not hounded by extremely loud music. Last thing to note, our waitress was also working the bar. There was a couple at one other table and someone at the bar. Other than that, the restaurant was completely empty. We barely saw our waitress and had to wait for quite a while when we wanted to order another drink. We spent a lot of extra time than we wanted to waiting around. My positive about this restaurant is that the decor is nice and that they let you modify the dish a bit. We ordered the pasta trio and they let us get two of one type of pasta. The pesto was really good. The deals on Thursday for drinks is good. The bread and butter was really good but an extra $5. Overall? Business owner: please take note of what customers are saying and compromise. If a customer asks for the server to lower the music, staff should be allowed to, even if just a little bit. What sort of "lively atmosphere" are you trying to create on a Thursday night at 7pm with a restaurant 90% empty? Maybe change the vibe of the music based on the time of day. Your decorations say "nice dinner" your music says "sports bar". There is an in between and I know it can be found. I hope everyone can learn something from this review.

The Atrium has a totally different look than the previous restaurant Toscana's. They have spent a lot of time and attention to detail to create a more upscale atmosphere. The light fixtures, the moody floral motif on the ceiling, the serpent gold "A", and the greenery wall decor all create a unique look and feel apart from any other restaurant in Turlock. The menu offerings are designed to be shared which is a fun change from other area restaurants. The service was friendly and efficient with prompt attention and helpful recommendations. The only area we found that could be improved upon was the music volume. It was super loud which made it difficult to have a conversation over our meal. We were told that Atrium is trying to cater to a younger crowd. While we totally understand and appreciate the image they are trying to convey, the music volume really impacts the overall dining experience and not for the better. A recommendation would be to have the music volume a little lower during the dinner service and then switch from dinner service to light bites and cocktails, dim lights, and play the music louder to cater to a younger crowd. Of course that is just our opinion. We will give it another try in the future to see if things have improved, but in the meantime, we do hope they succeed.
