Last Saturday I headed to the Little Waldorf, just across from the University of Nevada campus, to catch the UFC fight and it turned out to be a great pick. The service was outstanding with our server being friendly and efficient, making sure our drinks were topped up during the fight card without ever hovering. The food was straight up bar fare with burgers, wings, and fries that fill you up without blowing your mind. It was not gourmet but it did the job and hit the spot for a night of cheering. The atmosphere felt like stepping into your great grandfather's barn in the best way possible with its rustic Western décor and nostalgic vibe. There are wagon wheel, moose head, model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, UNR and old school memorabilia, and plenty of flat screens broadcasting sports from every angle. It is loud, lively, and unmistakably a college town hangout. All together, with UNR just steps away, it is a perfect place for sports fans who want solid service and a fun and familiar energy.

Stopped by The Wal on a busy night before a basketball game and had a great experience. Even with how packed it was, the service really stood out. The servers were friendly, attentive, and did an awesome job keeping things moving without making anyone feel rushed. We were able to get in, eat, and head out smoothly before the game, which I really appreciated. Definitely a solid spot when it's busy and you're on a bit of a time crunch before a big game.

I had to check out the oldest saloon in Reno, which is also a college bar locals affectionately call The Wall. Good beer selection with local options. Food comes in large portions. Got the small Mac and cheese and it was big enough for sharing. Ditto for their famous bread pudding. I was so full but it was all yummy! Fun place.

Haven't been here for 30 years but last Saturday I and a friend went for lunch, the server was very friendly and fast with our beer! I ordered to fish and chips (my go to) and they did not disappoint the fish was flaky and batter crisp the fries were excellent also! Food definitely delicious Service quick and accurate The interior is very unique and Log cabin like just come here and eat!

The Wal is pretty much a historic landmark at this point. I have been many times. The food is fair and the service is decent. The ambiance is like eating in your great-grandfather's barn. That simile was made more accurate after my last visit when I saw a mouse repeatedly run across the dining room to grab snacks.

4 for the server would have been a 5 were it not for the attitude regarding the drink 0 for the bartender I guess he's only a beer tender 4 for the food All rounded up to a 3 Super nice server greeted me, and immediately took my drink order...bravo! They had three special cocktails, I ordered the Rosemary Paloma. I asked the server if it was good, and she was honest, said it was new, and she hadn't tried it. I went with it, as the first ingredient was tequilla , woo hoo! You could definitely taste the tequila, and the rest of the listed ingredients, making it spot on flavor. Sadly the presentation wasn't the best...see the picture. The lime was old and dry, so dry/old the rind was curling in. The rosemary sprig was limp. I know!!! How is a rosemary sprig limp? Note to bartender, a Paloma is a Sour, and a Sour is not served in a chimney glass filled with ice. Server was back quick for my food order. I ordered the bacon burger with fries, and water. Food came out quick, and it was good. The burger had a great smokey grilled aroma. Sadly the tomatoe slice had a giant white tomatoe stem, that should have been cut out. I think you can see it in the picture as I cut the burger in half. It was so big and hard, the cook surely saw it, yet served it anyway! Problem in the kitchen. The attentive server returned, and asked if I liked the Paloma, I said it was Ok and ordered a Whisky Sour instead. Great that the server asked for feedback on the drink, to pass on to other guests. Great connecting with the guest. The whisky sour was served in a chimney glass filled with ice, which was again strange. Sours are served in sour/cocktail glasses, or rocks glasses, for a reason! Mostly for iflavor, you don't want the alcohol watered down by all that melting ice! Where is this bartender from?!?! The liquid had a slight yellow tint, and the attached line was definitely fresher. I took a sip, and was convinced the tender had forgotten to add the whisky, and I let the server know, She stated that unless you get a double, you generally won't taste the alcohol. What?!!! Hmmm that concern for my satisfaction quickly had faded. I said, then make it a double, and this is not the right kind of glass! She came back with the drink and sone attitude! (Star reduction) I looked at the slightly yellower liquid see the picture. I said, whisky is brown. She said if I wanted it in a shorter glass she could do that. I said whatever it's fine, and ordered the blueberry bread pudding. The Saloon was not busy, bartender was doing nothing, yet he couldn't even come from behind the bar to defend his drink, or provide any type of customer service. Sent the poor food server over to deliver his lame knowledge lacking messages.

The food and service was great. Will definitely be back to try one of their burgers!! Has a great vibe! Lots of food to choose from so it's great for everyone.

I guess I let this review sit in my drafts long enough. The little Waldorf brings me so much nostalgia! My younger self will always have warm feelings here and that isn't from a cocktail. Lol I made a ton of great memories with old roommates and my closest friends before getting married and becoming a mama. From tailgates before the games, studying and living off of their happy hour, wings, and "Jiffy burgers." Late nights turned into early mornings. We would play in beer pong tournaments here, dance, and close the place down. You can say we probably did it all while running across the street from campus. Those were the good old glory days! Flash forward to my last visit here was with my youngest before attending the Dragon lights at Rancho. We had a mom and son dinner date, and it was so strange to see "the Wal" all of these years later before the party sipping an Arnold Palmer with my toddler at the early bird hour. We ordered burgers and fries. The service was great and the restaurant was quiet and clean! We rushed through our dinners to get to the park's entrance for our prepaid timed tickets. The food is good and the beer is served cold! Tip: Check out their happy hour and try a Jiffy burger if you like peanut butter.

    Top notch bartending here!

Shoutout to the bartender at The Wal! Wasn't sure what I'd expect my first time in but am so happy I did. Busy, busy night with all the fun events they host on Wednesdays. Trivia Night then Trike racing?! Grabbed dinner then decided to hang out after and I'm so glad I did. She's been top notch all night.. even got me into their mug club!! Cheers Chelsey!

Enjoyed our mid week happy hour visit to the Wall. Great Tuesday beef taco and bbq sandwiches. Addison was a very good waitress, but didn't know about the Yelp appetizer deal.Really enjoyed the ambiance, lots to look at.

Love the quality of the drinks as they absolutely put effort and time making quality drinks with quality ingredients. It's relatively small inside so I can only imagine it could get packed in there. We had several drinks and every single one was perfection! The bathroom is the cutest and they have the coolest speakeasy door that the employees use to get to the back (not for the customers). My rant..I'm not from the area so I had NO idea what this place was when I walked by. It looked cute so my husband, myself and child walked up the steps and they sat outside while I went to check it out and see if this was a bar/club/ restaurant. I walked inside and instantly got the death glare from an employee. I instantly said omg I take it this place isn't kid friendly.. he rudely said no. I wanted to clarify and confirm even outside ? He said no. I apologized and they left but the vibe and way he said it was definitely off putting. My sister and I decided to stay for a drink while my husband/child went to walk around. Usually I don't give bad costumer service a chance.. but I realllllllly wanted a drink that one of those others customers were drinking. If this place had better costumer service. It would be a 5

All in all, there was so much in it that it was difficult to evaluate what I was eating, which is a good thing. It means I'll have it again :). It functioned as a whole rather than as separated ingredients to give a complex flavor profile, which I appreciated. The fries were seasoned beautifully. Very savory. I enjoyed them.
