I'm so shocked that I have never posted a review for "the Wall." We have gone here for many, many years now, mostly attending their Monday or Wednesday DJ Trivia Night with friends and we always have the best time. The food is solidly good for bar food. Our favorites include the club sandwich, the cheesesteak, the chicken wrap, the French dip, and of course their yummy steak fries and the fry bread for dessert. Admittedly, some preparations differ a little bit from one night to another, but overall it's pretty good for a casual dinner outing. (This particular night our friends said the club sandwich bread was stale.) They have nightly specials to add to their already variety filled menu. There is truly something for everyone. Service from the gals is always attentive, professional and genuinely nice every time we go. Definitely more of a locals place, but if you're visiting, highly recommend to check it out. Last Saturday I headed to the Little Waldorf, just across from the University of Nevada campus, to catch the UFC fight and it turned out to be a great pick. The service was outstanding with our server being friendly and efficient, making sure our drinks were topped up during the fight card without ever hovering. The food was straight up bar fare with burgers, wings, and fries that fill you up without blowing your mind. It was not gourmet but it did the job and hit the spot for a night of cheering. The atmosphere felt like stepping into your great grandfather's barn in the best way possible with its rustic Western décor and nostalgic vibe. There are wagon wheel, moose head, model airplanes hanging from the ceiling, UNR and old school memorabilia, and plenty of flat screens broadcasting sports from every angle. It is loud, lively, and unmistakably a college town hangout. They had three special cocktails, I ordered the Rosemary Paloma. I asked the server if it was good, and she was honest, said it was new, and she hadn't tried it. I went with it, as the first ingredient was tequilla , woo hoo! You could definitely taste the tequila, and the rest of the listed ingredients, making it spot on flavor. Sadly the presentation wasn't the best...see the picture. The lime was old and dry, so dry/old the rind was curling in. The rosemary sprig was limp. I know!!! How is a rosemary sprig limp? Note to bartender, a Paloma is a Sour, and a Sour is not served in a chimney glass filled with ice. Server was back quick for my food order. I ordered the bacon burger with fries, and water. Food came out quick, and it was good. The burger had a great smokey grilled aroma. Sadly the tomatoe slice had a giant white tomatoe stem, that should have been cut out. I think you can see it in the picture as I cut the burger in half. It was so big and hard, the cook surely saw it, yet served it anyway! Problem in the kitchen. The attentive server returned, and asked if I liked the Paloma, I said it was Ok and ordered a Whisky Sour instead. Great that the server asked for feedback on the drink, to pass on to other guests. Great connecting with the guest. The whisky sour was served in a chimney glass filled with ice, which was again strange. Sours are served in sour/cocktail glasses, or rocks glasses, for a reason! Mostly for iflavor, you don't want the alcohol watered down by all that melting ice! Where is this bartender from?!?! The liquid had a slight yellow tint, and the attached line was definitely fresher. I took a sip, and was convinced the tender had forgotten to add the whisky, and I let the server know, She stated that unless you get a double, you generally won't taste the alcohol. What?!!! Hmmm that concern for my satisfaction quickly had faded. I said, then make it a double, and this is not the right kind of glass! She came back with the drink and sone attitude! (Star reduction) I looked at the slightly yellower liquid see the picture. I said, whisky is brown. She said if I wanted it in a shorter glass she could do that. I said whatever it's fine, and ordered the blueberry bread pudding. The Saloon was not busy, bartender was doing nothing, yet he couldn't even come from behind the bar to defend his drink, or provide any type of customer service. NYE 2024 dinner before the UNR BB game. Good thing we arrived early-ish because shortly after we were seated, the place was packed. Lots of families, and multi-generational groups. Great atmosphere, fun setting. Before we arrived, I did not realize that the Wal was owned by the same folks as Red's in Carson City. Burgers looked great and that's what I'm choosing next time. The pulled pork sandwich was just the right portion; love the cole slaw and beans! Beer selection is extensive and local brews well-represented. The wine choices are just so-so. I guess I let this review sit in my drafts long enough. The little Waldorf brings me so much nostalgia! My younger self will always have warm feelings here and that isn't from a cocktail. Lol I made a ton of great memories with old roommates and my closest friends before getting married and becoming a mama. From tailgates before the games, studying and living off of their happy hour, wings, and "Jiffy burgers." Late nights turned into early mornings. We would play in beer pong tournaments here, dance, and close the place down. You can say we probably did it all while running across the street from campus. Those were the good old glory days! Flash forward to my last visit here was with my youngest before attending the Dragon lights at Rancho. We had a mom and son dinner date, and it was so strange to see "the Wal" all of these years later before the party sipping an Arnold Palmer with my toddler at the early bird hour. We ordered burgers and fries. The service was great and the restaurant was quiet and clean! We rushed through our dinners to get to the park's entrance for our prepaid timed tickets. Gotta see the Wolf Pack women win tonight so we started with a stop at LWS across the street. Server was quick and helpful. She offered suggestions and knew what the change from fries to onion rings and sweet potatoes would cost. Surprising some don't. Order was out quickly and exactly correct. The sourdough burger came with BBQ sauce so I got it in the side. Didn't want some sugar sweet concoction on my burger! Wow it was very similar to Gates sauce in Kansas City. Wouldn't have been better if I had snuck a bottle in. Great job chef. The sliders on Hawaiian bun with bread and butter pickle went over well. Sweet potato fries have to be fried to crispy perfection or they are mushy. They were not mushy! The inside of LWS looks like a museum of memorabilia, ok so it looks like what it is. Been our friends' college go-to place for years! Best wings in town, great fry bread (we get the honey version) and I love the burger sliders on Hawaiian rolls. 10/10. The only reason this review is not 5 stars is because of noise and parking issues. The last time we were there, there was some sort of 10 year reunion going on, and waaaay too many "woo girls" screaming by the bathroom. Our table was situated right in front of the bathroom, and people were screaming from there over all of the tables diners to the far wall where the bar was. I totally understand that you can't ask a college bar to be quiet or to not host events (and/or obnoxious people) obviously, but it was our friend's birthday and we were hoping to at least be able to hear each other talk when we sat together. We all went home with sore voices after trying to speak over the loud group. If we had known, we would have chosen a different day or time that weekend to go. -_- Parking is also painful in their compact lot, but we all knew that from our college days. We know to park on the street if we can. I have a truck, and it simply cannot be parked in the small lower lot unless it is empty. I wish they would put a "No Outlet" sign on the pole by the lower lot... There is one way in, which is also the one way out. There is no exit, and it dead-ends into a cement wall. If you get to the end of the lot, it becomes an episode of Canada's Worst Driver trying to turn around and **not hit** the two rows of TIGHTLY parked cars on either side of the single-lane path that 100% boxes you in. If you have a car follow you in, you're screwed waiting for the person behind you to clue in that they have to back out of the entire lot to allow you to move. That lot is definitely compact sedans or motorcycles only. There are one or two spots at the top of the hill that can serve a truck or van, but only one or two. Good luck! Park on the street, expect some noise, and have some great food. read more

I will admit I was a little scared when I pulled into the parking lot as this place is nothing to look at on the outside (and it looked a bit sketch), but it's like a Tardis and it's way bigger on the inside and cleaner than it looks. The decor was super cute and regionally specific. My waitress was very nice as well. I didn't have to ask for anything while I ate. Service was amazing! I got the Jiffy burger with fries, well done. The burger was perfectly cooked and very filling, and I'm not exaggerating when I say the fries were the best I have ever eaten. I'm not sure what magic the kitchen uses to make them, but wow, they were perfect. They were super crunchy on the outside and creamy and delicious on the inside. If I ever find myself back in Reno, I'll be stopping in for some more fries. read more

Ok, there has been some improvement in the attitude here. Truth be told the server, Kaci, has renewed our loyalty to the Wall. Kaci 10/10, gives the type of service every business should offer. Burgers 9/10. Taste is a 10, selection is 8/10 as there are only 6 choices. Sports Bar-ness 4/10. The jukebox blasts rap or country music so they don't have to choose a game to have the volume on. For me, I am less interested in which game volume is on as long as the noise and excitement of an NFL game is playing. It feels like parents that decide that since not everyone agrees on what to listen to, then no one can listen. They should grow up it is around 20 decisions (Sundays) per year. Non-Sports Bar atmosphere 6/10. Not sure if it is going for college spot, old west outpost, stale pub, sports bar or all of the above. Fun. The perfect game of "Eye Spy" is before you. Yes, children are OK to join you. The food is delicious and drinks are cold. With UNR across the street, literally, you'll have to root for the WOLFPACK if you visit during any football or basketball games. Founded by Red Waldorf in 1922. He stumbled upon Reno in 1922 and fell in love with the town. He purchased an old warehouse and converted it into The Little Waldorf Saloon. His saloon become an immediate icon in Reno due to his amazing cooking and the historic cannon that he mounted on his roof and fired off during every college football victory. Curbside pickup during COVID-19 The Wal was one of the first spots I came to know and love when I moved to Reno. Wife, then GF was in grad school, so this was a regular after class bite. Chill collegiate coed bar and restaurant. Good beer selection, basic cocktails, and decent bar food to boot. My first love in life was a Jiffy burger. Back in 08-09 the chef would hit the perfect medium rare, toasted bun, fresh veggies, red onion and PEANUT BUTTER! Killer combo and super crave-able! Second in line would have give the pigtails! Went here yesterday because I have lived here my whole life seeing that "279 bottles of beer on the wall" tag on the outside since at least the 80s and was often curious if that was still a thing. The tag is still there but due to the current pandemic, the parking lot was as empty as ive ever seen it. They don't actually have all those beer on the wall but they do have a large, healthy collection of taps. At least 2 dozen and one of the longest bars(that you cant currently sit at) that ive seen in Reno. The cannon that is fought over between UNR and UNLV sits over the entrance, proclaiming Reno's dominance over our southern neighbors in college football. There is a beautiful wooded patio area that sits off to the left as you enter. Lots of room on the inside, with lots of wood that gives it a rustic, alpine lodge sort of ambiance. Lots of TVs that are mostly on the small side. You can't really watch whats on them because of the music that is playing overhead. I did wait a good 10 min before I got service, which was weird because there was only 3 other tables in this huge place, but the servers were friendly and when I did finally get my order in, I got my drink and food pretty fast. The fish and chips I ordered came out in probably 7 min and my order was hot and crispy. I would say the portion was on the small side for the price but it was really good. I was most impressed with the fries and I'll definitely have to go back and try that Jiffy burger. read more
