    Knife holder!

Third time back here, and we made it into the actual bistro as there was a storm coming and the veranda seating would be great for that! It's actually quite beautiful inside, I do miss a window to see outside, but they have made this space a treat to have dinner in. All the little touches, the little thing that holds your knife off the actual table, the handbag chair, you can tell this was all well thought out. Came with a friend to catch up , we decided to do small plates, and we started with their new bubbly, which I've been dying to try, Thursday was apparently 25% off a glass or bottle night, so bottle it was! Bit nervous it was going to be sweet, but it wasn't, more Brut like, but with a soft finish. Fruity but dry. Loved the glasses too! We started with the Pomme frites as everyone should! These were better than the first time I came, more truffle flavor and less McDonald's like! Delicious! Then we tried the Greek meatballs, chicken meatballs, with greens, tomatoes, feta, homemade tzatziki and a tabbouleh salad with some naan, this was a meal in itself. Very fresh, great flavors, very simple but tasty. Honestly full at this point , but dessert is a must, they had a plethora of choices which was a menu in itself, we went with the coconut cake. Wow! Levi our server talked this up but when it came out I was stunned by how pretty the plate was. They definitely know how to create beautiful plates here, lots of berries, a delicious house made coulis , lemon curd and the cake itself was light, paired well with bubbles and was the perfect combination of everything we wanted. Highly recommend this dessert, even though they all sounded great. Maybe I can suggest a sampler of at least three of the desserts? It's so nice to have a nice place in Mocksville without having to go into Winston, I wish more people would come out here, yes it's pricier than most local places, but the food and wine and service warrant the price. Levi was fantastic, and kept our glasses topped up, water glasses filled and checked in on us. He was funny, informative and a great representative of the winery, he definitely knows his stuff. Thank you for taking such good care of our table. Looking forward to going back soon! Had such a great time here.

Food was good, service was good, and the annoyance was like that of a family restaurant. Would I go back? Probably!

Our seats were in the main dining area, which is an absolute feast for the eyes. The area was super busy and crowded but you'd never know it because everything just flowed, like a well oiled machine. The food is EXCELLENT! We got a little bit of everything but the highlights were the Short Rib Sliders - popular at our table, and the small plates. The Blue Crab dip was very good and so was the arancini!

Our server was excellent, the wine list is impressive, my local beer was fantastic, and my wife enjoyed her wine. The food was where things slipped. My wife's wood-fired salmon was pretty good, but her vegetables came out with no seasoning at all. My wood-fired filet was cooked exactly right, but it also had no seasoning, and when you find yourself asking for steak sauce for a filet, something has gone wrong in the kitchen. Then the peach crumble showed up and stole the entire night. It is genuinely amazing, and I'd tell anyone within earshot to order it. Great atmosphere, great service, great drinks, and a dessert worth the trip. If the kitchen brings the seasoning up to the level of everything else, this is easily a four-and-a-half-star restaurant.

He was attentive, fun, and made sure we received first-class service from start to finish. The food was delicious, and the restaurant had such a fun, festive atmosphere. Where things fell short was the bar they were understaffed, so much so that the manager had to step in and make our drinks herself. As a result, our drinks didn't arrive until after our food was already served, which threw off the whole flow of the meal. Food quality was solid and the presentation was great, but the service hiccups and pricing knocked it down for me. I would come back it was a one a done for me.

From the moment we walked in the decor and overall vibe felt like stepping back in time in a good way. You can tell a lot of thought went into the place without it feeling overdone. Service was top tier. Alejandra took care of us and knew the menu inside and out without sounding scripted or fake attentive like some places do. I got the salmon and yeah... ridiculous. The gravy alone could've been its own menu item. I was two seconds away from licking the plate. Only complaint is I wish the portions were a little bigger because the food was that good.

The eggs tasted like powdered eggs, the bacon was dried out, and the sausage was so dry and tough that I had to use a knife just to cut through it. For a restaurant with this kind of reputation, I expected fresh, well-prepared food--not something that tasted like it had been sitting under a heat lamp at a hotel breakfast buffet. This was our first visit, and unfortunately, it will probably be our last. Save yourself the time and money and go somewhere else for brunch.

My server was one of at least three working that evening, and she stayed moving at a brisk pace amongst all the diners in her section. This meant I did have to wait a bit to place my order, but not unreasonably so. After submitting my order, the initial salad course came with minimal wait. I found the bowl's contents simple yet fresh, and I was especially pleased at the quality of the cranberry vinaigrette. Just before I swept up the last greens from the salad, my main course arrived: the Mediterranean seafood pasta. I wasn't quite as impressed by this phase of the meal, however. The amount of calamari in particular was plenty, but I found it a bit too rubbery for my preferences. There were a few good-sized shrimp in the plate also, and their texture was better than the calamari's. But these items just didn't seem to mesh well with the flavors of the marinara, and the peppers and tomatoes didn't help either. There wasn't any real melding of the individual ingredients into a complete dish; each component felt as though they'd been introduced to the others at the last possible moment, and the taste of each didn't contribute to the others in a favorable way. [Seasoning the seafood more substantially, softening the added fruit and veggies with additional cooking, and using a more robust sauce would've helped, I think. Or perhaps a white wine and garlic sauce with the seafood, accompanied by angel hair instead of the spaghetti noodles I received.] All this leads me to believe I simply ordered the wrong dish for my tastes (though I typically enjoy the combination of pasta and seafood). I think I'll come back in the future and try another entree to see if that goes better. For now, though, I'll hold the rating at three stars.
