Generous portions and a diverse menu make this a worthwhile stop for those of you in the area looking to get their Mediterranean fix. I had the combo platter #1: Chicken and doner meat. The entree comes with a house salad and basmati rice. It was good but not the best I've had. Well seasoned and good value even a slightly higher than desirable price point. The review loses one star based on service. Although the owner stop by to thank me for dining, for 30 minutes before I was largely ignored by the staff who were busy chatting socially with each other despite a large tip at the point of sale. read more

So much delicious food! If you like pizza and Mediterranean this is the spot for you. We went as a party of 4 (and a dog). We ordered a pizza and a bunch of different Mediterranean items such as salad, falafel, spanakopita, grape leaves, hummus and pita all of which were amazing and completely devoured. We also ordered a meat and rice plate which was huge. The meats were all very delicious- tender and well seasoned. We had leftovers to take home with us. They also have a dog friendly patio so we we're able to have our good boi out there with us. The service was also very good - seems like a family owned spot. Very delicious food. Just pretty pricy. For a lunch for 2 we spend about $35. We got the combination kabob #3, an a la crate chicken kabob, & 2 sides of pita bread. It was really good & the portions we huge, enough to feed two people. The parking at this location during lunch hour is pretty busy though. Keep that in mind while going during lunch rush hours. read more

We were staying at a nearby timeshare, so I thought a nice take-out meal to eat at our place would be great. I ordered the Family Pack for 4, which could easily feed 5-6. All items were prepared nicely, and each item was very tasty, with the exception of the shirazi salad (extra cost), which was 'anemic' and bland, perhaps appealing to the tastebuds of the locals. Generous amount of tzatziki, but when I asked about toum (garlic paste), I was told it would be $7 extra, so I said no thanks. Pleasantly surprised by the food, setting, and staff during our first experience at this restaurant. We ordered a carry out of two Lamb Chop Dinners and it was delicious. The lamb was nicely seasoned and tender and the rice that came with this entree was plentiful. The accompanying salad was crisp and fresh although I would have preferred a lighter dressing. The pistachio baklava was great with lots of pistachio. We'll definitely be trying more items on their extensive menu! read more

Ordered delivery. No pita bread with any of the dips, and no option to order a side so one would assume it would come with that. Two dressing-size containers of tzatziki for $7???? And nothing to dip in it???? Such a rip off. Now I can save it, hope it's good tomorrow, when I go buy some bread for that and the appetizer combo that also did not come with anything. If it's even worth going to the store for. Everything bland. The pita for the wraps is limp and sad. $7 pistachio baklava is ridiculous, at least give me a proper sized piece. The $3 baklava was much more generous, if you can call a normal sized portion generous. The falafel are dry. The gyros was mediocre at best. An embarrassment to both Persia and Greece. read more

The Kabob Lounge in Carlsbad is average but really isn't half as good as the one in Carmel Valley... I love kabobs and this place is unfortunately disappointing due to the fact that their food doesn't taste all that fresh and their service is extremely slow. I have tried this place out 3 times now with essentially the same results, poor service, inconsistent food and sometimes completely wrong order. Overall, I would love for this place to improve on a couple of things as that would probably bode well for the patrons of Carlsbad. I don't know how I missed this place for 8 years I've lived here. this place is incredible. always fresh and delicious food. great friendly service. huge variety menu. where else can my husband find lamb cooked in a variety of ways, and I can get the best spanakopita ever and kids can get pizza! clean and large and can even sit outside. and Baklava for $5.00!!! all made in house and superb. Guess they better up their advertising because you are missing out if you don't go here every week. generous Greek salads and great pita bread too. even have a lamb shank dish with a sauce you have never tasted before. Bottom Line: Decent option for sandwiches and dishes with savory meats. I've been to Kabob Lounge a few times and overall it's a nice option to occasionally throw into the lunch rotation. I feel like the seasoning they use is a little bit of an unexpected flavor profile but I like it. Their fries are a bit bland but adequate with ketchup. I've had salads and wraps and I would categorize them all in the "good" category. They have Coca-Cola products which always rates high with me and the indoor seating is comfortable. They have outdoor seating too but I try to avoid it since it seems to always be a wind tunnel and the local airport traffic can be noisy. read more

I've never given such a poor review before but I feel obligated to warn people about the terrible food my husband and I got at this place. We ordered the combo #2 with the chicken and ground sirloin kabob and added an extra sirloin kabob to share between the two of us. The first thing I noticed was one of the sirloin kabobs had not seared marks on it and it's actually slightly undercooked. Both the ground sirloin kabobs were tough and chewy. It's hard to cut them into small pieces with a metal fork. I've never had ground beef that was tough. How do you do that? Good grief! It's ground beef! How could it be tough and chewy?! My husband could not even finish it. The rice was blend and so was the chicken although it was cooked nicely. Will never go back! read more

I gave them two stars for their tzatziki sauce which was delicious. The grapes leaves were inedible, mushy globs with a few grains of rice. They tasted canned, but it's hard to tell what they were stuffed with. I spit them out. The gyros are made in advance and microwaved to order. Fatty, full of oily mystery meat and brown on one side. The babaganoush is mostly tahini and I'm not sure if it contains any eggplant whatsoever. The baklava is totally void of any honey, a dry product. Cheaply made, and it shows. Frankly, after only three visits I'm not sure how they even stay in business other than having low prices because the food is anything but authentic. read more

Oh dear. Having read through the many five star reviews of this pseudo Mediterranean restaurant I now understand what the "filtered review" section was created for. Seriously now, the staff or management of The Kabob Lounge would be better off taking notes from their many unhappy reviewers and revising the service, ambiance and food quality of this restaurant than in expending their effort and energy contriving and posting fake reviews. We live close by. My hubby and I were happy to see this place was opening and looked forward to exposing our children to Kabobs and other assorted Mediterranean food. That was until we tried this place out. Our food came out in segments. Not all together. Rather than let their food get cold we encouraged everyone to just eat. Everyone's bread was cold. Rice was a flavorless mound of white rice with a few pieces of yellow rice just sprinkled on top. None of our kids could stomach their cold meat slabs. We ended up packing those up to mince up in our dogs' food. Their salad dressing is lousy. Their Tadziki and whatever else that other pale gruel was...don't tell me it was supposed to be hummus---flavorless slop. Then there were the flies. Oh Lordy. One of our daughters has a low tolerance for insects of any kind...let along flies buzzing her food. Because of their fly situation we ended up changing tables. Twice. Please...just close your doors. Invest in a neon sign. We will all know you're open but have your doors closed to keep out the freakin' flies. Overpriced, flavorless food. I'd have awarded them 2 stars just out of gratitude that we didn't get sick but their influx of fake reviews makes me hate to feed the lie. read more

5-Star Review Bistro Kabob in Carlsbad is hands-down my go-to spot for Mediterranean/Persian food in the San Diego area. Every time I visit, the flavors, freshness, and generous portions remind me why I keep coming back! I ordered the Try It All / Mixed Grill platter and it was an absolute feast. It came loaded with juicy grass-fed New Zealand lamb chops (charbroiled to perfection), boneless chicken kabob, beef koobideh, and chicken koobideh. All grilled beautifully with that signature char and aromatic seasoning. The lamb chops especially are to die for -- tender, flavorful, and worth every bite. Everything was served over fragrant saffron basmati rice (that beautiful mix of white and yellow is always perfect), with fresh salad, tzatziki, and warm pita on the side. The meats were all incredibly tender and well-marinated, with just the right balance of spices. Paired with the rice and dips, it was a complete, satisfying meal that easily feeds more than one person. Service is friendly and quick, the atmosphere is welcoming (great for dine-in or takeout), and the quality is consistently excellent. If you love authentic kabobs, lamb, and Mediterranean flavors, do yourself a favor and try Bistro Kabob -- you won't be disappointed. I'll be back again soon! Highly recommend -- 5 stars! read more

The legion of fake reviews for this sub-par eatery makes for a misleading score. We've given this Mediterranean fast food dive three chances. They've managed to strike out each time. Then got around to reading their Yelp reviews. It doesn't take a private investigator to see this restaurant has someone working overtime to create a flurry of phony positive reviews. I'd have awarded them a mercy score of 2 stars but can't help but feel offended by their platoon of fake reviews. They lost one star just for generating multiple fake reviews rather than addressing the legitimate gripes of their own customers. Other reviewers have slammed their bread. For our family their bread was the best part of our meals. Lukewarm to cold---yes. But six laps better than anything else on our plates. Their sauces are a pitiful imitation of real Tzadziki or real hummus. Not only was their food unmemorable to vividly awful but they pitch a tip on your credit card at point of purchase. Oh please. What service are we tipping for? We had to fetch our own food and clear our own table. Get real. Free parking. Their only plus. read more

I was planning bump this lousy eatery up to 2 stars-- Just to be kind. Then I read through their numerous obviously fake reviews. They done bumped themselves up with all of their phony reviews. Nauseating experience here. Their front and side doors are left open all day so the dining room was teaming with flies. Buzzing our food nonstop. Our daughter has a freak out aversion to flies which made our lunch experience a living hell. I ordered a large combo plate. It ended up being about half a plateful of lukewarm white rice with a few kernels of suspiciously yellow rice thrown on top. All of their rice was lacking in any discernible flavor. Their bread came to us cold. Had I been blindfolded I would have been unable to tell you what sort of meat made up my flavorless kabob. The sauce and hummus that came with it reminded me of a scoop of spooned up mayonnaise. I would not have been able to identify either as hummus or Tzatziki. My wife is Lebanese American. I had the pleasure of trying Bistro Kabob for the first time, and it was an excellent experience! I ordered the Koobideh and Chicken combo, the Koobideh wrap, and a veggie pizza, and everything was outstanding. The Koobideh was incredibly soft and flavorful, while the Chicken Kabob was perfectly juicy and well-seasoned. The pizzas are wood-fired, which gives them a great texture and rich taste. To top it off, I tried their Persian ice cream, which was a delightful treat--rich, creamy, and full of flavor. The hospitality at Bistro Kabob is also worth mentioning. The owner, Saeed, is very friendly and welcoming, making the dining experience even better. If you're looking for Persian cuisine with a warm and inviting atmosphere, Bistro Kabob is definitely worth a visit. read more

Worse place! I have emailed them, I have called them (no reply or pick up till this day) to refund money from an order I made. I ordered two of the chicken kabobs, gyro, and lamb plate NO RICE NO PITA BREAD NO NOTHING! Just the meat itself!!! Maybe if the owner reads this they can contact me back because Ive been calling for refunds! Total was close to $60 NOT WORTH THE MONEY I PAID with nearly nothing on my orders. I had high hopes for this place, but unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The food was bland, poorly cooked, and lacked any real flavor. To make matters worse, the restaurant itself is extremely cramped--tables are packed so close together that you can barely move without bumping into someone. Overall, a disappointing experience. We went here couple of times in carlsabad. It's halal yet serves alcohol. Food is ok the only reason we go here because of its being halal.... but sight of alcohol makes it very unpleasant. Portions are decent and servers are ok. They do have grump on their faces. read more

Beautiful area with lots of kids playing by the fountain. Sitting is inside or outside the restaurant. Lady who greeted us were very nice. All tables were taken outside so we sat inside the restaurant looking out to the fountain area. Place was decorated nicely with pillows on some of the sittings. Really cute place and cozy. Three of us were hungry and the aroma coming from the kitchen made us twice as hungry. We ordered 2 vegetable dishes, Palak Paneer and Aloo Matar. The Palak Paneer which is spinach with cheese was delightful. It is our favorite vegetable dish and tied our entrees together. It's comforting and savory. The Aloo Matar fresh peas and potatoes were as delicious but hard to compare with the Paneer. I did like the peas a lot. For our entrees we had the Chicken Kadai, Lamb Tarkari and Chicken Tandoori. All came with basmati rice. The chicken kadai had a nice spicy kick. The lamb was tender and lots of cinnamon notes. The tandoori was crispy, tender and juicy. The Garlic cilantro naan was tasty, soft and buttery and great with soaking in all the curry sauce. All the flavors hit the right spot and were all delicious! We had a tiny leftover left of the rice, naan and Aloo Matar. Otherwise we devoured our entire meal. It was that yummy!!! We love this place. Everything about our experience felt like your grandmother or aunties made these food just for you. It was that authentic and cozy! If you're by Carlsbad and want to experience the taste of Nepal, Indian and Tibetan cuisine, this place is for you. They will treat you like family. This will be our go to place when we visit Carlsbad again. Will be back!!!

It felt different this time, there was spit on the window next…read moreto our booth, the window was dirtier than usual, The wine glasses hanging above the counter were very dusty, while waiting 20 minutes for our food, I asked if there were new owners but I was told no. The food, my gyros sandwich didn't taste right, burnt on the edges of the meat, fresh frozen I guess.. Very tiny pieces of tomato and Zero onions, I was told that the owner was trying to save money. They offered to replace the sandwich but I was hungry and had ate half already, I politely refused (not wanting to wait another long 20 minutes. We are never going back.
