The service was quick and the food was even better. I was looking for a good place to eat for breakfast my neighbors in Orange County highly suggested i come here and try it out so i did. The one down side it's not dog friendly but other than that it's been a great experience and good food. It was pretty busy when i got in but my food came prepared very quickly and the waitress was giving me excellent service at the bar. I'm glad i was recommended to try this place out. read more

This place is great! We had lunch here on a Saturday afternoon and were able to get right in. Our waitress Holly was fantastic. She was bubbly, attentive and super quick. The dining area was COLD and whenever the door opened it got drafty. Winter and older buildings often interact this way. I ordered grilled chicken bucatini carbonara and it was surprisingly flavorless - very disappointing as salt and pepper were not enough to establish the traditional flavor. Fantastic! We were greeted and sat promptly. Not super busy for a Friday evening, a little surprising considering how good our meal was. Our server was very friendly and knew the menu well. We each had a burger- didn't think too much of it- a burger is a burger, right? I ordered the whiskey jam burger and my husband had the build your own- both with fries. Both burgers were exceptional! I would give this place 5 stars but the bartender, when called on her incorrect Irish Coffee, got condescending and frankly became a b**ch with me only. Backing up. I ordered an Irish coffee. Let me refresh. Coffee, sugar cube, Jameson (or whatever Irish whiskey) and whipped cream. I saw her pouring Bailey's into it. I stopped her and said no Bailey's. She said then what do you want? I explained what's in an Irish coffee and she basically said I was wrong. She poured the correct one and it was fine, but her attitude toward me was not. Coffee with Bailey's is exactly that. Just because it has an Irish cream in it does not make in an Irish Coffee. The lettuce wraps (there are 4) were amazing and so were the calamari. Everyone was offered a refill on their drinks except me, but I was done and ready to move on anyway. Don't argue, about Irish coffee with me. You will not win. read more

We went in today to have lunch but we both ended up ordering breakfast. One of us had the tomato & bacon omelet. It's truly a flavorable omelet with chopped tomato, cheese & bacon. I ordered french toast that came with eggs and a choice of meat. I ordered bacon which was two slices of a thick style bacon. The french toast was 4 halves using a thick "texas-toast" style bread. Service was absolutely the worst! Although I enjoy the food, I won't be coming back. Seems it's been getting worse each visit!

This is on the popular corner of Gurney & Montezuma, right on the infamous Whiskey Row! We ate here three nights in a row because it was chilly & snowy on some of the days we were here & we were staying in the hotel so it was convenient. Had it not been good, of course we wouldn't have eaten here that many times so that says a lot about how good the food is. We had the Bistro Burger, coconut shrimp, house salad, Chicken Bucatini Carbonara & our absolute favorite was the fish & chips, OMG, excellent! Who says that you can't get good fish far from the ocean? We were born & raised in San Diego & there is some excellent fish & chips to be had there but this was by far the BEST that either of us have ever had! I like the vibe in the restaurant & enjoyed eating near the front of the restaurant so I could people watch. Our server each night was Sandy, such a sweet lady who offered excellent service. The atmosphere was sweet- had an old pub feel to it. The food was fine but not life altering. Our server was lovely but I got the impression they were understaffed and so service was slow. I had been wanting to come here since I moved here forever ago, lol Finally tried the shin dig and I was actually impressed with the presentation of the food and how delicious it was! The mini burgers were perfect for my son and the fish & chips was on point! So yummy!! I'll admit it was hearty and heavy if you're trying to lose weight but still worth trying out. Tip: If you think you're going to use their restroom, mention it to the hostess and they'll give you a coin for the bathroom. We decided to try this bistro for brunch on a Sunday. We had no problem getting seated promptly and were greeting warmly. I ordered the pancake breakfast. The pancakes were fluffy and the eggs were really tasty. My husband ordered the biscuits and gravy and he did not leave a drop of food on his plate. He said they were about the best he's ever eaten. We went for Sunday brunch with a couple of acquaintances and the restaurant was very busy. I had the smoked turkey club on gluten free bread with no bacon and cole slaw as a side, this was pretty good, nice flavor in the meat and a nice sized portion. The slaw was creamy and fresh tasting. If I was ranking just my meal, I'd give this a 4 star. However, my husband's experience was terrible. He ordered the large salad and it was just lettuce with some cucumbers and sorry looking dried up carrot shreds. He thought the carrots were fried they were so dry looking. I tasted the salad and the lettuce tasted fishy. Never had this experience before. He also ordered a small cup of the tomato bisque soup and said that it was oily and had an unpleasant taste. He tried two spoonfuls and gave up, so basically he didn't eat anything. If we had been dining alone we would have sent all of his meal back but as our dining companions were new to us, we didn't want to potentially be embarrassing. His meal gets a zero star. I guess since they are on the town square they get a steady stream of tourists and don't have to try too hard. There are many alternative good places to eat for salads and sandwiches. read more

Downstairs of the historic St. Michael hotel on Whiskey Row, this architectural landmark should not be missed - if not just for breakfast; drink at the bar or a snack. As previously mentioned, this place gets busy. Especially on the weekends. The best time to come is at 9 AM right before all of the crowds. Service can be hit or miss, and today it may have been a miss. I think our server just got overwhelmed. No worries, food's ok. We came for "birthday breakfast" for my brother & mom. They do not have espresso-type coffees; but they do have strong coffee with regular cream and sugar. Ordered the Brisket and eggs or one of the Benedict's- made fresh to order. Eggs cooked perfectly, and the hollandaise is good. Breakfast potatoes are diced and crispy, slightly salty. Brisket seemed micro"reheated", yet still tender; good flavor. They have great bread. The vibe wasn't right the hospitality was not there, came through the door and was not greeted or told I was able to sit down anywhere, there was a sign that said head to front to see hostess and I waited there for at least 5 mins before I decided to leave. My hubby and I were famished and found the best place! The lady who waited on us was so patient, not just with our questions about the menu, but the city and music venues. Kind to the core. Donald had the Mac and cheese (which he loved) and I had the veggie burger. Amazing. I've had a hundred veggie burgers in every way possible, but this one is worth writing about. It wasn't a frozen patty, or one falsely formulated to taste like real meat. This was made on site with their own blend of ingredients, grilled to perfection and topped with bleu cheese. Our breakfast choice was the Brisket breakfast , eggs medium , crunchy potatoes .. yes I said crunchy AND might I say uhhhhhhmazing!! Those potatoes are by far my favorite of all the places I have ordered them! The flavor was on point too! I could easily eat a plate of those and feel minimal guilt! The brisket was delicious and an ideal portion for the breakfast plate. A little English muffin with a spread of orange marmalade for a little sweetness , it all hit the spot perfectly! Let's not forget the mimosas! If you know , you know how to properly pour those ratios! Well done! Round one was the classic oj , round 2 a yummy oj and cranberry mix , even better!
