I was so disappointed by Bistro Tupaz today. I've been going there for years, always ordering their Bistro Burger to go. They usually ask you how you want the meat cooked and it has always been delicious. UNTIL today. I ordered but they didn't ask me how I wanted my meat cooked. I didn't think much of it and went to pick up my order. I took a bite and the meat felt way overcooked. Then I looked at the patty and it was a disgusting piece of whatever but it didn't even looked like meat. I couldn't eat it. I went back and show them and told them why they didn't ask me this time about how I wanted the meat cooked. And they told me that they can't do that anymore because the patties are precooked. Just disgusting. I know the economy is tough and you have to make changes to save money but downgrading the food that much is just wrong. I guess I will not go back. What a shame.

Bistro Tupaz is once again in good graces with me. I came here for dinner on a Thursday evening. The service and food were spectacular and exactly what I had experienced before the last (cringeworthy) visit. Renee was our server and she was very attentive throughout our meal. We started off strong with their housemade bread which was warm and toasted, accompanied by their orange marmalade. For my entree, I ordered my go-to Chicken Parmesan Burger with fries. Their aioli sauce pairs so well with their fries but I do occasionally find myself dipping fries into the ketchup served along with the burger. All the food was made hot to order and came out relatively quickly. Having this experience made me realize how Bistro Tupaz's management values customer feedback and putting customers at the forefront. I definitely plan on coming back here again to get Bistro Tupaz fix!

What a fabulous find! Delightful interior, wonderful service, generous prices (especially relative to price), and an all-around fantastic lunch. Met up with a girlfriend and we went with the owner's recommendations. The soups are so cozy on a cool day. The stroganoff is such perfect comfort food. Plenty of parking, too. Caveat: the patio is closed due to construction next door. It's A/Ced inside, though, and the interior is darling. So, I highly recommend dining in.

Everything. Everything went well. I can not, for the life of me understand how in all of My years of yelping I have not ran across Bistro Tupaz. Upon entry we were greeted by a very gentle and kind hostess/waitress Renee. This same lady is responsible for blowing My mind by providing me with the knowledge that the Bistro has been open for 19 years, 15 of which I've resided in San Jo, and I can not recall them ever popping up on a yelp search, and the fabulous Renee informed Me that she hears that a lot. Hopefully, My review changes that! The food is some of the freshest food I've eaten in probably 40 years. It appears everything comes straight from farm to table. The Chicken Dumpling Soup- amazing! The broth, the crunchy celery and carrots, to the ever so fresh and soft dumpling, to the super fresh chicken breast-my GOD, I have not had it so good, and so reasonably priced. If you visit for nothing but the soup you'll be winning! It's the best $8.00 you'll ever spend, and it soothes the soul, much more beneficial than that $8 cup of Jo you get from Starbucks daily! We(the Princess and me) didn't stop at the soup, tho. They offer several vegan options, so My Pescatearean daughter ordered their Veganoff, their Vegan version of Beef Strogonaff. No frozen meatless balls here, but fresh balls that tell a tale after 1 bite, due to the freshness of the ingredients of which they are made. We could taste the mushrooms, black beans, and corn... some of the veggies used to form them. Very good, very flavorful, very fresh! I ordered the kids meal chicken tenders and enjoyed them with the French fries we choose as the side to accompany Renz' entree. We ended our meal with a Tiramisu one would write home about! The cream that topped it was deliciously fresh, and it is just the intro to all the layers that make tiramisu tiramisu. I love the set-up, the seating is private, you can't really see people as they dine from the front counter, but it's a split wing, and offers plenty of seating on both sides. The art work that graces the walls are very nice. There are no corners cut and no half-steppin at the Bistro. I'm excited to try everything on their menu. Everything plentiful, everything fresh, everything prepared to order, and everything reasonably priced. Start your year by giving the Bistro a try. You wont regret it.

It's been a long while since we had a meal here. We came for lunch today right when they opened. We were able to pick where we wanted to sit. We were handed menus and cold water was brought for the both of us. They also brought us a complimentary bread basic with homemade mint pesto to spread on it. It was delicious. Everything they make here is from scratch. I decides to try their bistro burger and by husband ordered the Coq au Vin. We also ordered a burrata Capresse salad to share. The salad was so good. The tomatoes were so sweet and it paired well with cheese and fresh basil. My hamburger was just okay. The fries that it came with were perfectly fried and seasoned. I loved them. My husband loved the Coq au Vin. He was surprised at how big the portions were. His meal came with mashed potatoes and a side of seasoned vegetables. The inside is very nice with many seating options. They also have outdoor seating in the back. Our service was very good. I usually get their beef stroganoff when I come. It's the best. I will get that next time we come.

It's shocking this is my first time eating here! Kinda hard to see the sign and store front. Well let me just say, we loved it. The restaurant is nice and Clean! I feel Like I want to underline that because man I love a clean restaurant. Renee was our server tonight, she's just lovely. In a nut shell, everything is made from scratch and it tastes like it! So I'm gonna post some pics and our table ate everything! Finally a dinner under a hundred bucks! Woot woot

Been going to this spot for almost 15 years and the food and service is always excellent. So many items are made from scratch and the rotating menu keeps things interesting. The ambiance is super relaxing and the outdoor patio on a nice sunny day is always enjoyable. The owner and his family are wonderful and even though I don't live as close as I used to when I first started going to here, I still make the drive because this place is not only nostalgic but delicious every time! The prices are also very reasonable for the quality of food that you get. Oh yeah, I can't forget about Tuesday wine night where you get a free glass of wine with your dinner! If you haven't checked the spot out yet then what are you waiting for?

The complimentary bread and special butter. Yummy!

Food: quality Service: excellent Ambiance: layback family restaurant What a gem! Almost didn't want to share. Everything from food quality, service is spectacular! The price can't be beat for its food quality. Don't let the bistro vintage decor fool you. Order anything on the menu, you can't go wrong. Start off with the delicious light crispy fried calamari to pair with a bottle of beer for my partner and a glass of wine for me. Grilled Ribeye was perfectly seasoned and my rare is still moo-ing, just how I like it. Came with the perfectly grilled duck confit green beans and I ordered a side of freshly grilled mix vegetables. Love love. The side vegetables are perfectly grilled and freshly selected, not the typical boil veggies you get out there. The homemade fries are perfectly light and crispy, I don't eat fries usually and I finished all sweet potato fries here. Ohh the dessert! It's so fresh and one of the best bread pudding I've had in town or ever. I had to pair it with the ice cream. It was the best combo. I must try!

Complimentary bread with preserve- forgot to take the picture earlier.

Can I bring my dog for out door sitting?

Most definitely! If your furbaby needs, we also provide complimentary water bowl and fresh washed blueberries.

Am I able to bring in cupcakes for my son's bday dinner? Also since it is a Tuesday would we need a reservation for 8-9 people?

Happy birthday to your son! This calls for a celebration, including cupcakes-- please bring them in. Sometimes Tuesday nights can be busy so reservations for 8-9 people is recommended. See you soon!

What are your hours & do we need to reserve for a party of 6?

Hello, thank you for your question! Our hours are: Monday - Friday…

Do you guys still make chocolate meringue? It's my favorite and I've been waiting and checking in multiple times with no hope :/

Hello Mi! Your question brings back nostalgic memories. :) Because you asked, we will bring it back-- how could we not?! Look for it to be available by the end of this coming week. We will try to have it by Wednesday, if not, definitely by Friday.…

Hi there! Just checking in with you guys to see how the dining-in situation is. Is there a possibility to reopen for dine in?

Hi Brian, The situation (knock on wood) is much better! We're currently open for dine in at 3 pm…

Is there a date set for when indoor dining resumes?

This is an excellent question that even I have been pondering myself. In a perfect world, we would be fully open for dining. But as of now with the labor shortage, we can't find enough help to fully open. We have also been trying to find…

When will your dining room be open?

Possibly in mid February. It is a challenge to stay open while dealing with omicron.

We ordered two Pollo Saltimbocca dishes (one with a cream pasta substitution for an additional $8), the Pollo al Limone, and a half bottle of Chardonnay. The restaurant offers one indoor dining area and two outdoor seating areas--one in the front and one in the back--which gives guests plenty of seating options. The food was a bit saltier than our personal preference. The cream pasta substitution, despite the extra charge, wasn't anything particularly memorable compared to similar dishes we've had at other restaurants. However, the highlight of our visit was definitely the warm and welcoming customer service. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel appreciated. We also appreciate that the restaurant closes for a few hours in the afternoon before reopening for dinner service. It's nice to see a business that gives its staff a break during the day. Parking can be a bit challenging due to the busy neighborhood. Be aware that street parking is paid, and most spots have a two-hour limit, so you'll need to keep an eye on the time. Overall, we'd come back to try more of the pasta dishes on the menu and hope to discover a new favorite.

Right when we stepped in, the interior is decked out in a modern art deco style. Vibrant & fun colors while still maintained a sosphiscated touch. After a few recommendations from our server, we decided to try: Mushroom Arancini (10/10): These are amazing, as soon as they brought it out, we can both instantly smelled the truffle oil. The exterior were crispy & pipping hot, the inside has creamy mushroom. It was certain my favorite of the night! Rigatoni alla Vodka (8/10): A solid pasta! The sauce was great and balanced. There was a good amount of sauce that coated in the pasta. The pasta itself was perfectly al dente! This is a staple dish but I felt like it might lack an interesting flair. Stuffed Branzino (8/10): Another solid dish! The whole were already debone which made it so much easier and fussed free. The skin on top was insanely crispy, the meat were juicy and overall tasted very healthy and fresh! It was a nice paired to the heavy pasta dish! They also gave us 2 cute canolis as a free birthday dessert which were super good! Overall, this is a beautiful spot for a date night and I'm glad I took my partner here! We started with the garlic bread for appetizers. It was well presented but I think it would've been well paired with some sort of dipping sauce because it was a little dry. My boyfriend ordered the thousand layer lasagna and really enjoyed it. I ordered the rigatoni and thought it was just okay. I didn't realize the dish didn't come with protein so it felt like the dish was missing something. The sauce itself was nice but for some reason, some of the pasta was undercooked and some of it was al dente. For dessert, we ordered the chocolate pudding and tiramisu. The presentation was so beautiful. Both my boyfriend and I loved the pudding most -- I would definitely order this again. The tiramisu wasn't bad but it would've been better if it had a stronger coffee taste and if it was a little more moist. The wait staff was incredibly attentive and definitely made our visit feel special. She paid attention to the small details like helping us label our boxes, which I've never had anyone do before. On a completely unrelated note, I was surprised to find the bathrooms are shared between both genders. While there are separate stalls, the sink area is shared, which I wasn't expecting for a nicer restaurant like this. But I would say overall the food was hit or miss but the service and experience overall was amazing:)

The location is pretty convenient, just outside Downtown San Jose, and parking is relatively easy with a decent amount of parking available nearby. One thing that has been consistent every time I've visited is the service. The staff are always welcoming, friendly, and attentive without hovering. They're usually nearby when you need something, which makes it a good spot for a work lunch or dinner where you don't want to spend half the meal trying to get someone's attention. It's definitely a little on the pricier side, but I've been happy with the food so far. I haven't had anything here that I thought was bad. On my previous visit, I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. This time I went with the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. It was a solid, comforting plate of pasta, and they finish it off with freshly grated Parmesan, with the amount based on your preference. I also tried the espresso martini this time. It was smooth and enjoyable, although I didn't get much of an alcohol kick from it. If you're looking for something stronger, this probably isn't the drink I'd go with. Portions are decent and the overall atmosphere works well for both business meals and something more casual. I could also see this being a nice option for a date night if you're looking for Italian food in the area. Overall, Palermo has been a reliable choice for me. It's not the cheapest Italian restaurant around, but the combination of good food, attentive service, convenient location, and easy parking makes it a place I'll continue coming back to when I'm in the area.

We called ahead around 845 to verify our 9pm reservation because we saw they closed at 9:30pm and we wanted to be respectful of their time. Bryan answered the phone and assured us we will have enough time to be seated and served before closing. He was very kind and welcoming so we headed over. We were greeted by Chris and seated immediately in the table that he let us choose. He made thoughtful suggestions on location being by the window, the booth where it was quieter or wherever we wanted because "this place is yours". This is not a typical thing I usually experience when being seated so this stood out to my wife and I. We appreciated this gesture. Once seated he took our drink orders, my wife wanted to try one of the wines before getting a glass so he brought a small sample. Once returning he asked if she wanted to select another or "take this one for a drive". The expression was simple and displayed the thoughtfulness that came from him the entire night. Simply taking time to craft words and be present is something that we noticed and appreciated. We ordered a carbonara and a pasta with prawn. The food came out fairly quickly since we arrived at a time past some of the peak hours. The bread with olive oil and balsamic came out first obviously. The carbonara and prawn pasta was so beautifully plated and presented that we forgot to take a picture for this review. We dug into the food immediately. At this time, maybe a coincidence, I checked my watch to be mindful of the time. At the same time, Kevin walked up to our table to let us know what we are good on time and that, "the back hasn't started the dishes or started cleaning up yet". There were still other parties around at that time. This was another detail that stood out to me. He might have seen me check my watch but to know what I was thinking at that moment and then respond to it is a first for me. This is beyond thoughtful. After a couple more wholesome interactions with Kevin and Chris, we ended up ordering a pannacota. This was the best I have ever had in my life. Kevin stayed for a while to chat while Chris was tending to other tables at the time. I can't say enough about the warmth in this place shown by Bryan, Chris and Kevin. I will definitely return and I want to bring my family there. The food was top tier but the people were what will bring me back.

The staff was very helpful in getting us to pick menu items and then let us enjoy our meal without too many interruptions. This was a date night and we really enjoyed it and would highly recommend the spot.
