Hands down the best lobster rolls we have had on our 13 day trip through New England. The bun to meat ratio is perfect. The toasted bun is perfectly toasted so the butter doesn't make it soggy. The lobster is so fresh it doesn't have a fishy, briny, chemical, or overly salty flavor. In a word, Perfect! I had naked with butter and my hubby got the Chipotle (lightly dressed with Chipotle mayo didnt cover up the lobster flavor). Current price $18. Not heaping with meat like Reds in Wiscasset (bigger for $27 incl tax) but the quality is better and fresher. Others we went to are Karen's Hideaway, Red's Eats, Erika's Seafood, Shannon's Unshelled. This is a must go for lobster rolls if you only get one your whole trip. Just skip the blueberry soda (chemicalish aftertaste). FYI, even my seafood/lobster hating daughter said the rolls were tolerable so that's saying something too. read more

I had super high expectations for it given the numerous accolades but was fairly underwhelmed. It's convenient from a food truck but I just didn't like it that much. Having grown up in Portland, I've been to Fort Williams a lot. I was glad to hear a food truck had set up shop. (I lived in NYC the last decade and developed a real thing about food trucks as a result.) This place was "packed" the lovely early September day we went. Friendly people, good choices, but it's lobster centric...expect it to be a bit $$$. I have never been one for lobster, despite being a Portland kid, so I can only say my husband found it "As good as I'd have hoped or expected, though I think I've had better...certainly I haven't tried them all yet though." (His was way of saying "to each, his own preferences.") For the views and such, they have a GREAT location. read more

First things first, you won't find a better backdrop to enjoy a lobster roll anywhere in North America. The scenery inside Fort Williams Park with a decadent Maine or Connecticut style lobster roll in hand is something straight out of a Walt Whitman poem. It simply doesn't get better. Bite Into Maine is a tiny trailer featuring a few different lobster roll varietals along with adjunct accoutrements (sides, drinks, etc...). You can't miss the massive line forming into the parking lot, and if there's anything I learned during my short trip to the state, it's that Mainers love lines. But hey, patience is a virtue. Their offerings live up to the hype, albeit a bit on the pricey side (which knocks a star off). I hate to complain about something I so thoroughly enjoyed, but when you're in the middle of the park and buying something from a 10x5 trailer, my instincts tell me it shouldn't be the most expensive lobster roll I've had in recent memory. Eventide's famous Brown Butter lobster roll is $15 and you're in a full brick and mortar restaurant. Even Luke's Lobster in the heart of East Village, Manhattan (aka some of the most expensive commercial real estate in the country) sells theirs for less ($17). Bite Into Maine rings in at $17.95, so it was a bit of a surprise given the modest production with seemingly very little overhead. I'm sure they have no problem raking in $30,000/day, and good on 'em. It's a free market economy after all. Just something worth noting if you think you're going to save a buck schlepping 30 minutes outside of Portland for a roll. All in all, an enjoyable experience, and something I'd certainly recommend despite the surprising price tag. read more

I opted for Connecticut style (simple but delicious) I've tried quite a few different places while visiting Portland and honestly this is the best lobster roll I have ever had in my life! They're right by the Portland head light, not sure if they're there all year round given that it's a food truck. Bring your blanket, your cooler, your favorite book and make this into a picnic trip with friends. $18 for a fresh amazing lobster roll. My fav is the picnic style, with lobster and a bed of cole slaw. Next time, ask for the cole slaw to be on the side to keep the lobster bun dry. If it is too sunny, go to the picnic area around the corner to the light house from Bite Into Maine. There is nice shade and wonderful breeze to enjoy your roll and your book! read more

Totally did the tourist thing yesterday and walked around Fort Williams Park, admired Portland Head Light, and ate the best damn lobster roll of my life.... I can see why this little food truck is on a solid 5-start streak. Around 3pm there was a bit of a line, and from getting on that line to my first bite of giant hunks of lobster was about 20 minutes. I got the picnic lobster roll and my friend got the Maine lobster roll. Both were fresh, delicious and filled with lobster meat. My mouth is watering just thinking about it... Nicely toasted bun to boot.... Washed it all down with a Moxie and a side of cape cod potato chips. Perfect Maine meal. Not sure if prices are market but yesterday was $15.95 for the lobster roll. Totally worth it. The gentleman running the both was incredibly kind and thanked us for our patience. Only disappointment was that they had run out of Whoopie Pies. This was a top-notch experience from start to finish. We Yelped our way around Portland over this past Independence Day Weekend, and 'Bite Into Maine' was definitely the highlight... The Good: We were starting to think that in order to get great food in Portland we were going to have to resign ourselves to a wait of an hour or more. We had waited in lines in stifling heat, put our names on waiting lists for hours... We beat the line-ups here by a few minutes, but we watched as the-little-food-truck-that-could cleared line-ups 20 people deep, in under 10 minutes. Something in their organization system is working for them. The Better: The owners are *lovely* people. The weather was unbearably hot. The staff were warm, welcoming, never snippy, gracious, humble and accommodating. They even came outside to pat our dog. It's also worth mentioning that their prices are extremely reasonable: 2 giant lobster rolls and 2 gourmet sodas + tax came out to $35.00. The Awesome: The Lobster Rolls. They're sensational. The most delicious, tender, lobster-meat we had in Maine. I like mine plain and simple with butter (Connecticut style), but the Mister had their "Picnic" Roll, with Coleslaw and Celery Salt. A-mazing. We had to stop ourselves from ordering the Wasabi and Chipotle Rolls (How much lobster is too much?). They had a terrific looking Corn & Blueberry Salad and a delicious assortment of Craft Sodas. The Unbeatable/Indescribable: The usual location by the Head Light in Fort Williams park. Crashing waves against rocky, New England bluffs and a beautiful old lighthouse... Makes for a great view on its own... But coupled with great hospitality and perfect lobster? This is. the. best. lobster roll. Hands down. There's not a whole lot I can add to the other reviews, but this lobster meat tastes fresh, it's creative (or traditional, depending on what you want) and there's almost always a line - so get there early. Once they run out of lobster, they take off. In the height of summer in Maine, it's not unusual for them to not make it to dinner time. But they are always gone by six, it seems. ENJOY. This is my first yelp review ever, and I am writing it about this place because it was amazing. Bonus #1: one of the owners is from Green Bay, Wisconsin. When she found out we were also from Wisconsin, her accent shifted to the midwest and she yelled out an "oooohh yeaaaah!" Too funny. :) The food truck is simple and stylish, and the menu is short. We went here for the lobster rolls, and it exceeded our expectations that were already high. The lobster rolls come in 6 varieties. Adam got the New England style (traditional), and I got the curry. So good! To boot, the view and the park are gorgeous. We were on our way out of town, so we could only explore for a bit. Bonus #2: local soda - we had a root beer. If you are in Maine anywhere near Portland, this stop is a must. Love. read more
