The XL is good if you want to eat the extra lobster with a fork but the bun is the same size so I find the regular size is more manageable and less messy. Continuing my quest to find great lobster rolls, today I discovered Bite Into Maine where you can get a flight of THREE! There are three kinds to choose from, so I got one of each: the Maine, with mayo and chives; the Connecticut, with warm butter; and the Picnic, with coleslaw, butter, and celery. I honestly don't have a favorite, as they were all absolutely delicious. And FYI the flight comes in two sizes: 4.5 oz rolls (the ones I got), or a 6 oz. version. Someone sitting nearby was having lobster bisque that smelled heavenly, so I'll have to try that next time. If lobster isn't your thing there's also a selection of sandwiches and burgers too (though if lobster isn't your thing then just move over so I can have more). Also just a great vibe here all around: this is a food truck parked at the Allagash Brewery, so you just walk up and order, then wander over to the bar to grab a beer, and sit anywhere outside. We were so excited to go eat here. We had watched tons of foodie videos about lobster rolls and this one of the top places to try. We went to the Portland Headlight and then stop by the truck. It was SO hot that day but we stood in line and then had to eat in the car as all of the shady spots were taken. We ordered the Chipotle roll, the Curry Roll, the Connecticut roll and I got the grilled cheese. The rolls were full to overflowing with sweet, tender lobster and so flavorful. I think the chipotle roll won the prize but my grilled cheese is worth a mention as the bread was so soft and the cheese melted perfectly. The line moved quite fast and the food came out quick. i've looked up thousands of reviews on which place has the best lobster rolls in maine and every single one said bite into maine is #1 so I came here with high expectations (also visited cape elizabeth mainly just to try these hehe) my bf and I ordered the maine lobster roll and chipotle lobster roll. the key difference with this place vs others is the LOBSTER QUALITY. the lobster pieces were SO thick and the portions were noticeably way bigger than the other spots (to be fair, we did order the 6oz rolls which were $40 each and the other lobster joints cost $20-30 per lobster roll so it would make sense the portions are bigger) but STILL! the lobsters were so cold and fresh and were so big they really did fill up your mouth. i think i liked the chipotle one more than the regular lobster roll just bc it was slightly different and at this point this was already like our 6th lobster roll and i was kind of tired of it. they also have curry flavor and wasabi flavor which is cool but i wasn't adventurous enough to order those esp at the high price points. we also ordered the blueberry soda which is basically blueberry fanta and got a side of the cole slaw which wasnt anything special- just basic cole slaw read more

We spent a week in New England and I went on safari for the best lobster roll. Every place that we went to didn't have the right temperature of lobster, but this place nailed it. They have two locations, one in Cape Elizabeth and one at the Allagash brewery. We went to the one at the Allagash brewery. Talk about a perfect location! They have three different types, cold with Mayo, cold with warm butter, and cold with coleslaw and warm butter (picnic style). Obviously the warm butter and toasted hoagie roll warm the lobster up a bit, but I think that cold lobster is key to a good lobster roll. The best part is that you can order a flight! I got each style with 4.5oz of meat for $29. That seems to be the going price for a lobster roll around here and that's like 13.5oz of lobster so seems like a good price. The warm butter roll was my favorite, but the picnic style was a close second. That was my first time eating that style and I was pleasantly surprised. The one with Mayo was also good, but really, what's better than melted butter? The quality of lobster was noticeably better than the previous lobster rolls I had tried. The meat was sweeter and just tasted fresher. Everything else on the menu also sounded good but I was there for one thing and one thing only. It's located in the parking lot of Allagash Brewery but you don't have to be at the brewery to order food. In fact, right now the tasting room is closed so it's only beer to go. We're headed to Bar Harbor and pulled off the high way and stopped here and got back on the road. If you want to brewery hop, it's located in brewery alley and there a bunch of other breweries on the street with outdoor seating. Cannot wait to return! The first time we had the flight of lobster rolls (three different kinds), a pretzel, and a grilled cheese. The second time, we had one full lobster roll (CT), two pretzels and a grilled cheese. The food truck appears to be a staple at the brewey. We spent almost $50 (over $50 w/tip) on an order of lobster sliders, one pretzel and a side of coleslaw. My boyfriend has expensive veneers on his front teeth. His first bite was into a huge piece of cartilage that caused his teeth to hurt and totally turned him off from this place in general. It was his first and now last lobster roll since arriving in Maine. I ate half of the pretzel, which was super generic and overly greasy and overly salted. The beer cheese came already coagulated. Then another piece of cartilage was found. Ugh. He told the food truck who offered to make a new order or give us dessert, but he declined both. They said that the place the lobster comes from is supposed to remove all of the cartilage so that shouldn't have happened. It's the same amount of meat that comes on their regular roll but cut into 3 mini rolls. One flavor was the Maine (mayo and chives, Connecticut (butter) and picnic style (coleslaw, butter and celery salt). You never knew how much your lobster roll was asking for coleslaw until you have had this roll. It really added this nice zip. There were only a couple of people ahead of me in line but I did think it took a little long to get my order. It was ok though since I had delicious beers and a nice patio to keep me occupied. Their rolls are priced pretty average to other lobster spots in the area. If you ever see this truck you HAVE to stop by and give it a try. read more

Their version called "PIcnic" is excellent. The lobster is still the centerpiece of the roll, the cole slaw on the bottom of the roll is the right touch of garnish. Allagash was our 1st stop upon arriving in Portland, mainly because I found out this delightful food truck was there, and what's more Portland ME than craft beer and lobsta roll within an hour of arriving?! We got the flight (such a great idea!) of lobster rolls and the clam chowder bread bowl. All 3 rolls were succulent, flavorful and fresh. Chowder was thick, which I prefer (noticed it tended to be on the thinner side at other places in Portland), so probably one of the best ones we tried, as we had chowder with most meals.
