The staff is very friendly, but don't order the prime rib unless you want it raw! It was absolutely awful. My Lyft driver took me here for a quick lunch near my meeting. I sat at the bar for quick service and had some of the best ribs ever. I had the spare rib lunch and even the green beans were legit. Catered some ribs and pulled pork a few weeks ago for a group of 6-7 for about $100. I probably had way too much food but it was all pretty good. As a little background, I probably do some small catering about 100 times per year. One of the strange things I experienced was that no plates or plasticware were provided. I asked if I could have enough for seven people and they had to run my credit card AGAIN FOR A $2 charge. I wish I had my first receipt back and I would have removed the $15 tip for the server doing nothing more than handing me my food. I am visiting from out of town and read good reviews on Bite Me BBQ. I consider myself to be somewhat of an expert on great Bbq have eaten it around the country. I was disappointed. Tried the two meat combo with sliced brisket and turkey. The brisket was sliced thin which tells me it was over cooked and it was just warm. It was not tender and no bark to taste. Following in the recent footsteps of Hamburger Hero, Bite Me is the next restaurant to leverage its popularity in the outer reaches of the metropolitan area to move to the Downtown area. Though as we recently found out with Hamburger Hero, that popularity doesn't always move with you. I try my best to sample at least two meats whenever I visit a new barbecue place, and while I was easily able to get my sliced brisket and pulled pork, I got above and beyond my desired quantity of meat thanks to them brilliantly including a 2 oz hotlink as a 'side'. That, combined with the sheer size of the chunks of meat mixed into the baked beans, had to amount to at least 11 ounces of meat. Sounds good to me. When dealing with the brisket-pork combo I am often wont to ordering, my problems usually lie in the brisket rather than the pork. Here, I was surprised to find the opposite. The sliced brisket was a very lean cut, but I believe the meat had been brined, so there was still quite a lot of moisture in that meat, and with a little bit of give, it easily pulled apart. Smoke ring and bark were quite prominent, too, and I overall was really pleased with it. The pulled pork, on the other hand, had some issues. It was a little dry, and that was emphasized by the long fibrous strands that were served. Had it been maybe cut into more manageable lengths, it wouldn't have been as bad, but this definitely needed the help of the sauce, and after stuffing myself with the rest of my plate, I didn't feel the need to finish my portion of pork. I've never met a barbecue restaurant's sausage that I didn't like, and this one was no different aside from the perfect sampling portion. The baked beans were pretty run-of-the-mill, though, again, those big chunks of brisket helped it stand out. Maybe I'm coming around on KC-style barbecue sauce, or maybe Bite Me just has a better understanding of the balance between the sweet and the heat, because while it might not have been the best barbecue sauce in the world as the label claimed, I didn't shy away from it, either. Between operating hours and the brisket and sausage, I think Bite Me is now the new barbecue king of the downtown area, beating Jet on everything but pork, (B&C was never in contention). Maybe there's hope for the Downtown area after all. read more

Writing this review for an event catered by Bite Me. Ribs - A solid choice. The ribs are served dry with a nice coat of rub cooked onto them. The rub is salty with a solid combination of chili-, garlic- and onion powder coming through. The ribs were plenty smoky and most we had were very tender although the ones towards the end were actually very chewy and unenjoyable. My only complaint with these ribs is that they lack the deep rich stout-y taste of ribs that have sauce caramelized on them but this is just a style-preference. Minus the chewy ones, these ribs are great for being purely dry-rubbed. Hot Links - Yum! I'm generally not a fan of hot links because their skins are usually thick and chewy and the flavors usually bland but their hot links were easily chewed, bursting with flavor, and actually spicy! Pulled Pork - Pretty unremarkable, not overly dry but not super-moist. Smoke was there but I think I like B&C bbq's pulled pork better. Chopped beef - Perhaps the star of the show. The meat was excellent being moistened from the sauce and was very tender. The sauce was pretty decent, it wasn't too sweet or spicy and had moderate depth of flavor and complexity. Overall it lacked any major flavors and was a joy to eat. Beans - Somewhat sweet but not overly so with shreds of meat in it. Overall an average dish of beans that could've used a little more heat and meaty savoriness but I still ate a huge heaping glob of it. Overall the food was very good. The biggest complaint I have is that the rubs and sauces lack depth. They have solid foundations with the right core spices and decent body (e.g. aren't thin) but need some cocoa powder, chipotle, smoked paprika, or something to make them a little richer and more complex. Having said that, the ribs and hot links can stand on their own without sauce really and the beef that is pre-sauced is very very good. May be room for improvement but i'd gladly go here or B&C any day. read more

Asked for fatty brisket and got dry ass over cooked flavorless BBQ. There is absolutely no bark to speak of, some lame attempt at a smoke ring and its sliced incriminatingly thin. I asked for mashed potatoes and baked beans on the side. I got carrots for some stupid ass reason. Very Clean Modern Decor Good Food For locals, this is right next to Architectual Salvage. I Dropped in this week after the lunch crowd around 230pm, so it was slow, but still a few people grabbing a bite and some drinks. They just finished making St. Francis a 2-way street, which I believe should help the areas traffic flow as it use to be one way. I had the smoked turkey on ciabatta, added some lettuce and tomato and had the regular fries (as opposed to my usual sweet potato) and all was great. Any who, I ordered the pulled pork and hot link and yuummm! Smokey, flavorful, not dry, and the bite me sauce was amazing! Spicy, but so much flavor. Spicy, yet sweet and so satisfying. My fiance had the brisket sandwich which had sliced brisket. Not something we've seen on good ol Cali! Again, amazing! Mashed potatoes abd gravy delicious! And fries were crispy and awesome. Back in Wichita for a short time. My nephew found this place for us to hang for a bit. Starting off with the bbq wings only 75 cent per wing minimum 4 order. Everyone was pleased with the crispy, saucy taste. They loaded up the basket with tons of fresh celery. The wings sauce was sweet and the meat fell off the bone. Be sure and get some pickled products from the condiment bar. My entree was the two meat sandwich with baked potato I recommend getting the green beans as a second side. Tasty,tasty. read more

Fabulous food and tons of choices on this menu. Even have a few great Mexican plates with bbq meat that are a good choice. Fresh fried waffle fries with ranch are to die for and great for an appetizer with a beer. Then the rib meat Nacho's are great for sharing as well. I love the baked beans as they are thick and sweet. Just okay. Came here because of trip advisor but nothing super amazing about the food. The atmosphere was a bit off and just felt funny (like an eerie calm before the storm). There are small signs everywhere letting guests know their "policies" but just felt aggressive. Even their menu read a bit aggressive. I order pulled pork, mashed potatoes and baked beans. Everything had a decent enough flavor and came out quickly, but the meat was cold. The beans were good but swimming in super rich sauce which only allowed for a few bites. Their wimpy sauce is fine but nothing new. In the end they are good spot to grab a quick bbq style meal but nothing to brag about. read more

The ribs were a bit bland and the brisket a bit dry. The hot links were bland too. The best of the combo were the beans. Nice flavor. I ordered the two meat plate (sliced brisket and smoked sausage) to go as I had a conference call to attend to. The brisket was nicely smoked and very tender. The sausage was one of the best I ever had. Most places I've been to slice their sausage, Bite Me's comes as a link. It was very flavorful and lean, and had a nice 'pop' when you bit into the casing. The sausage would have been great in a sandwich. I was intrigued by the fried lobster but my meal allowance would not cover it. Next time! I later met with some friends that live in Wichita and they never heard of it. Bite Me is fairly close to where they work, too. read more
