I was excited to try some BBQ while in Wichita, KS. I ordered the 3 meat combo, turkey, Brisket and ribs. The ribs were way overcooked, burnt on the outside. The Brisket was really tough with a 1/2 of hard to pull off fat. The turkey was pretty good. My sides were, Green beans, and potato salad. The beans were so overdone that you couldn't tell they were beans. The potato salad was good. We had dinner here last night. I had the appetizer nachos with brisket, my wife had the brisket sandwich Things could have been enjoyable if the food wasn't as salty. I didn't dare take my blood pressure last night. I won't need salt today, tomorrow or Tuesday. And my wife noticed some kind of unexpected tang with her leftovers. Service- place wasn't very crowded but there was no host to greet us and seat us for 10 minutes. Once seated, no server helped us for 15 minutes, and The one that did wasn't out server. Ambiance - jazz music played in the background. It was ok. Food- sweet tea wasn't sweet. Ribs were room temp tp warm but not hot. Meat had no flavor. I could tell it was smoked because it was pink, at least i hope that's why it was pink. Even with hot sauce, meat tasted like meat with hot sauce. I had to add salt and pepper. I wanted to like this place, I really did. It's in a cool spot downtown, the inside has a really great vibe, and the people were really nice and quirky. But...this might have been some of the worst barbecue I've ever had, which is saying something, because it's really hard to mess it up this bad. I had a beef brisket and pulled pork plate (the classics), and the meat was extremely dry and hardly chewable with both. Luckily there was sauce close by, which I used to douse the plate, so you could say, I had barbecue sauce for dinner, which was average itself. We stopped here on our way through town based on the other great reviews and we are so happy we did! This is definitely some of the best BBQ we've had in Kansas. There were four of us including our two college age sons, and we were all impressed! The sauces were delicious and the meats were high quality. My boys don't even like turkey but they tried my smoked turkey and it was by far the best we've ever had! We'll be making this a stop every time we pass through! read more

Great spare ribs , brisket, and my personal favorite, burnt ends (brisket). Very friendly people working there. My last two visits were after it changed hands. Seemed different, not the same friendly atmosphere. But still better than the rest. Fries and loaded baked potatoes still great. Baked beans very good. Used to go more often and they had punch cards where you got a free meal ever so often, but the last time I was there a new server had never seen one. Asked the manager and he said , well let's fix that, and reduced my bill by 10 or 12 dollars, which i sure appreciated him doing that, I don't know, still Great overall food and service. I used to go to Bite Me biweekly when my sister still lived in town. It's actually been about a year and half or so since I have gone, until today. It will ALWAYS bother me that amazing BBQ meats has terrible sides. The macaroni did not taste like cheese, it tasted like pasta with goop. The mashed potatoes were so grey and dry. It seemed like they were fake. They had updated their menus, but not the online one. I had a waitress that was new, just a week there so when I had asked questions on the new menu, she had to run back and forth multiple times. So as a Kansas City area resident, there is no shortage of BBQ places clamoring for my carnivorous affections. But Bite Me has its place among lots of the big hitters. So for me, I judge a BBQ place by three things: brisket, beans, and sauce. I know, I know, there's lots more to BBQ, but those are my baselines. Bite Me brisket: the sliced brisket is very flavorful, moist but not dripping, and very tender. Thick slices cut across the grain fall apart easily and chew even easier. Bite Me Beans: Meh. They're OK, not representative of either of their signature sauces, and have plenty of meat interspersed. They could be better. Bite Me Sauce: the regular sauce is very flavorful, sweet but not syrupy, and has a background of heat that is understated. The spicy sauce announces itself quickly but is not overpowering and complements the smoke flavor of the brisket. Sauces are worth the take home bottles that can be purchased. Overall, pretty good place. Service wasn't too sharp when I was there, but a decent bar and plenty of seating helped that out. read more

Stopped in here on a recommendation. Places smelled of Smoking meats so it has to be good right. I have tasted plenty of briskets in my life. I am by no means an expert on smoked meats but I do have my taste buds. I personally judge a bbq spot off their brisket because It is harder to do. I ordered the brisket sandwich. It was pretty good. The brisket was tender. Had an okay smoke ring on it. It was juicy and tasted good. I was impressed. It wasn't the top, best brisket I have had but it was good. The sauces were tasty. The only thing is that I wish there was a bigger difference between the regular and the spicy sauce. They have an awesome condiments bar where you can find an array of pickles and carrots and spicy goodness. Also, you can find special sauces here. They have one sauce that is allegedly "super spicy". It was tasty but not as hot as I would have liked. I enjoy some heat!!! Overall, the place was good. The staff was on point. They have a good selection of beers and it was a great environment to just hang out and chill with a group of people. BBQ was good and the wings were over cooked. And our waitress charged us for plate sharing $2. That wasn't on the menu and they didn't even split our meal for us. So we were basically charged for a plate. Then she charged us for an extra dressing with our wings and we only got one and never asked for extra. When you start to charge your customers for the basic items you need to eat your meal you may have to look into what you are doing and why. Maybe she was just trying to get her ticket price up because we split a meal. Idk but it's still bad for business. Honestly it's 4 star. It has been great and has been terrible. More times than not it's good and is my go to bbq in town.

The menus is kinda high for BBQ not to bad and I guess for the entertainment it's not bad either, the meat could be smoked more if it's even smoked at all.. The ribs are to die for tho lol seriously they are good, and the baked beans are awesome. My uncles hated the potatoes and the bread tastes stale but the ribs were good lol and the beans .. Didn't to much care for the beef pork or ham, and the co owner the lady has horrible customer service and business ethics I pray for this company it has potential to go either way. I'll read more

Amazing fatty brisket and sides. The server was very kind and attentive. The building is a nice open space and allows a lot of natural light in. While I was there, a van crashed into the side of the building making a huge noise and causing a bit of a disruption. The staff all handled themselves with dignity and poise in a tough situation where it appeared the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot. read more
