This place is the real deal. Been to many so called bbq places on Long Island but this one has all the flavors from the perfect smoke ring to juicy Memphis style ribs. WOW what a waste of money, I'm truly not sure how this place is still open? They have been around for over a year apparently, my first time there and will be my last, do not be deceived by their website. What they actually have apparently depends on the day of time you get there. The St Louis ribs were terrible this place takes "Fall off the bone" to the extreme opposite. Dried out and needed a saw to separate the ribs, the Chicken was scary undercooked, Mac and cheese had no discernible taste, as well as something they call Corn bread. ive Tried a few of the local bbq places in my time, but none of them have been as amazing as Bitterman's! The BBQ was smokey and delicious! We got the St. Louis ribs and the pulled pork. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and smoked to perfection! The pulled pork was just as flavorful and melt in your mouth! The garlic mashed potatoes, what can I say? You'll want the recipe!! I finally got to try Bitterman's recently after passing it a hundred times and I was not disappointed! I've had BBQ in many places and more often than not, I've come away wishing it had been better. I do my own smoking and probably have unrealistically high expectations. This time was different. I was greeted by the owner immediately as I walked in and was offered a sample of their baked beans, and they were outstanding! They set the stage for my selection and the food, across the board, was amazing. I ordered the Tri-Fecta, which is a combination of pulled pork, ribs (your choice of baby backs or St. Louis), and chicken. The portions were huge: two pieces of chicken (drumstick and thigh), three ribs and a ton of pulled pork, which was pulled off the shoulder right on front of me. The selection also included two sides. Having sampled the baked beans, they were a must. They offer several variations of mac and cheese. The owner suggested the variety topped with chili. I am not a fan of chili in general, but I was intrigued and went for it and was not disappointed. The chili they offer is not the ground beef, fresh out of the crockpot variety (it's the only chili I've ever had, so forgive me). This had nice-sized chunks of brisket and isn't overly spicy. It was perfection atop the creamy, not overcooked and even somewhat crispy in places mac and cheese. And one thing that never happens with me and BBQ: I had leftovers, which were just as tasty as the day before. All of this for $24.00...a real bargain for a type of food that commands higher prices elsewhere for much less satisfying flavor and much smaller portion size. This place is a 10-star establishment. Don't hesitate to try it if you've been seeking the BBQ of your dreams. I will be back for more. read more

The food here is amazing! Huge portions, flavorful, filling to an incredible degree, and overall wonderful. The pulled pork came in an amount that was stunning, the BBQ chili was spicy enough to be hot but not so hot as to lose any flavor (it was meaty and savory and incredible), and the garlic mashed potatoes were a delight. All of this came with a generous side-helping of hospitality and chattiness from the owner and his assistant, both of whom have wonderful personalities, are cheerful and engaging, and made the trip and dinner more than worth the money spent there (which, note, is low-priced for the amount given and the quality of the food). 10/10, and would happily go again and again and again! read more

This is the BEST BBQ on the island, easy. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by the owner Joe and the pitmaster Brian, who were both super friendly. Joe gave us samples to try and the portions given are huge! I got the smoked chicken, baked beans, and the chili mac. I love how everything is made fresh every single day as well as how passionate Joe and Brian are about their food. Joe also said that whatever is left by the end of the night gets donated to a women's shelter. Where to start? Walking in the door, we were greeted by the owner and he was so personable, I was immediately intrigued. After a quick lesson on the difference of St. Louis vs Baby Back Ribs while tasting a heaping sample of the baked beans (they are amazing) we just had to order both to see for ourselves. Zero regrets. Got the garlic mashed potatoes with FULL garlic cloves in it cooked to perfection (I had never had potatoes like that and it did not disappoint). Large portions, eat bite savory. Don't go here. I have never been treated so poorly at a food establishment. I asked for a 1/2 rack of ribs, an order I would typically get at my favorite bbq restaurants.. where they come with 2 sides and cornbread. The owner decided for me that I needed a full rack instead. (Last time he decided for me that I really wanted baby backs when I clearly stated I liked St Louis ribs more). This time, when I ordered my 2 sides he started to put them in larger containers. Confused, I stated I wanted smaller sides. The owner states the size he is scooping the food into is the only size. Still confused, I stated I wanted a meal with two sides and he got so angry with me stating that they don't do that and I should've known that. He proceeded to accuse me of purposely trying to get free food and that "everybody does this to him"...??? Okay. I tried to stay calm and explain myself to this man that it wasn't my intention to get so much food nor did I want free food. I asked him to please put it in an individual meal box. He refused! Stating that he would have to do everything ALL OVER AGAIN.... the place had zero customers and I never touched the food. It would have taken a minute to correct. He proceeded to try and tell me how I'm wrong and should have known or read the menu. I was so taken aback that I walked out of a restaurant for the first time in my life. This guy needs to work on his people skills. The food isn't even good. I was giving it a second chance because the first time I tried it I didn't get to try the actual items I had asked for. Never again. Isn't it funny that Joseph is the name of the owner and the 5 star review "backing up" his claims is also by a man named Joseph?? He also doesn't even attempt to switch up his verbiage. You're not fooling anyone. Instead, you are now violating my privacy by posting photos of me without my consent and walking a very thin line towards defamation and harassment. We've been wanted to try this local bbq spot for a while now. We were immediately greeted by the owner, Joe, as soon as we walked in. We took a look around and could see that it's very clean. The kitchen is open so you can see that the cooking/prep area is also clean. Joe is a super friendly guy and eager to explain the different kinds of ribs. Though it's not pictured, he gave us baked beans sample which was really good. Its got chunks of meat, Smokey, sweet, with a nice spice. I got half rack at Louis ribs, mac and cheese, and cornbread. My bf got Carolina pork, mac and cheese and garlic mashed potato. The Carolina pork was literally falling off the bone and the sauce served on the side was a great compliment. The garlic mash is reallyyyy loaded with garlic, no skimping. Mac and cheese was super creamy and didn't disappoint. St louis ribs were really tender and also paired well with the sauce. The cornbread was very moist and sweet. We had some leftover, Joe recommended we toast it when we go to reheat which is exactly what we'll do. All in all, we'll be going back. My oh my! My child was just born when I first saw the sign that it was coming soon, and once it finally opened she started her senior year of high school! Waited a long time to eat the food and write this review. Made the trip to Bitterman's a few times to give it a fair chance. My first problem was deciding between all the options! Half rack or full rack of ribs make it a difficult choice every-time. It's my go to order here because it's my only option!! First time I had them, I skipped arm day at the gym! Should've taken a pre workout before I tried to rip these apart! Second time they meat fell off the bone, best ribs I've had in my life. The roasted potatoes and cornbread struck out more times than the Yankees in the ALCS. I'm no expert, but they should change the name to Bitterman's Ribs and Blanderman's sides.
