My family and I went to this establishment on our vacation and... it was possibly the WORST dining experience we've had in years!! The one thing I will commend them on is the fact that we came at a time when the kitchen staff were going to leave and our waitress let us in, and I thank them for that. There are 3 of us and my brother had no complains beside one of his drink. However... I ordered a Sprite to drink, my mother ordered a beer, with my Sprite and my brothers Coca-Cola tasting off, and somewhat alcoholic. The waitress slammed my mother's beer on the table, splashing it on the table, and did not bring any napkins. There are 3 of us, and 2 of our meals were either inedible or not what they were advertised as. My mother ordered a burger that was meant to come with cheese and onions, and she got a burger with no cheese and fried onions that were refrigerated and cold. They were unidentifiable as "onions" even after biting into them. I ordered a rice bowl with beef, which had barely any rice, and was in some spots hard and uncooked. It had barely any flavor outside of beef and oregano. The atmosphere of the establishment is off to me. My family came in wearing face masks for our safety, and we got stares from many customers. I am openly LGBT and was wearing a shirt that says "Pride", and the atmosphere was so uncomfortable for me, that i needed to take my mother's shawl to cover it, to feel more comfortable The waitress did not come to check on our table at all during our dining experience. She instead, after we finished eating, with 2 half eaten inedible meals, asked my mother how the food was, and she said "Not good." and she replied by saying nothing and blinking. In conclusion, if you wear face masks for your safety during this pandemic, or are openly LGBT, don't visit this establishment, for your comfort, and for your stomachs as well. read more

My wife and I were able to stop in and eat at bitters and bones. The parking was a bit strange but it is in town parking. The place was beautiful inside. 5 stars for cleanliness and ambiance. The food was very good and the service was exceptional. The drinks were great. The only minor mark is perhaps the food selection was limited to only a few things but the few things were very tasty and fresh. If you are driving through and want to enjoy fresh food and a great atmosphere bitters and bones is worth the stop. read more

Fantastic place in Saranac. We loved the decor in here. It's rustic and makes you feel like you are out West. Our service was great and our waitress was friendly and helpful! They have an excellent craft beer selection including many more in cans beyond what is on tap. I had the pork burrito and my partner had the fried cod tacos. We both agreed the meal was amazing. We love that this restaurant has vegan options. Our waitress Michelle is very sweet and the food is delicious. We ordered Brussels sprouts and dumplings snd both are very good. The guacamole has sour cream in it and since we are vegan, we couldn't order it. The impossible burgers were good snd the Thai noodle bowl. We were a bit bummed that Michelle didn't tell us that the kitchen was closing at 9 because we tried to order more fries and that's when we were told it was too late. So we stopped this place for lunch. It's a cute little place my wife was actually up here a few weeks ago for student orientation so we decided to try it out again. Everything was really good. The buffalo wings were huge had a real good flavor to them. I had the poutine fries which were a little different because they had a herb gravy which I guess was vegetarian but was good nonetheless. Buffalo burger was Bussin Bussin as my teenage son would say. Which is good really good. And we started off the nachos with pulled pork which were really good. Beers recalled service was very good considering they were short staffed. And being in the restaurant business I can totally understand what these small independent restaurants and bars are going through. If you're up in Lake Saranac stop by a good spot. read more

I came here after a recommendation from the hotel staff at Hotel Saranac. I am giving an extra star for the delicious cocktails. The food was a 1-2 stars for me. For cocktails, I had the matcha-tini (Barr Hill gin, apple cider, matcha, lemon and heavy cream) and and ginger-pear martini (Barr Hill gin, lemon, pear preserve, ginger-honey simple syrup & prosecco float). Both were absolutely delicious, unique, tasty, and expertly crafted. Our waitress was quick and was a great bartender. The atmosphere was casual and had a cozy ambience from the fairy lights and candles. The matcha-tini was so unique and almost pepperminty. It is definitely a drink I'd order again. I loved the foaminess, color and wintery feel of the cocktail. For dinner, I had the hangar steak (grilled Steak, butternut squash mash, charred brussels, bourbon molasses vinaigrette). The entire dish was barely even warm when it came out. It was cool in temperature and the portion was quite small. Presentation was definitely lacking. The brussels sprouts were tiny and quite plain. The meat was alright but was unevenly cooked. I asked for medium rare but only the left half was medium rare. My fiance had the bitters burger (prime beef, cheddar, applewood smoked bacon, tobacco onion, red eye BBQ, fresh jalapeno, brioche bun & Fries). The bun wasn't toasted. The jalapeno was mouth-burningly spicy (and I LOVE spicy food but this was so painful to eat). The meat was very thick but the entire burger didn't taste/feel well balanced. I've been to this restaurant twice this winter. Each time was excellent. They have several craft beers and a great cocktail menu. I had the NY Whiskey Sour and it was amazing. There are a lot of choices in the menu from soups and salads to flatbreads and steaks. Everything is made to order and uses fresh ingredients. I tried their Poutine and was blown away. Excellent service and a fun atmosphere make this a great stop anytime you're in the area. read more

This is strictly bar food at best and not dinner food. When they say country fried chicken, they really mean 3 chicken fingers . The take out service was good and friendly but the food was mediocre. Everything appeared to be out of a frozen bag that you would buy at your local supermarket. We were really disappointed with such a high rating on Yelp we thought it would be better. I have eaten here a few times and each time I really liked it, generally we sit at the bar and get beer and food. I like that they have some choices that reflect current food. Sorry to say but the ADK is full of restaurants serving, wings, burgers, chic parm etc... If that's your style of food, all good, but not mine. Brussel sprouts are a fav, and the crispy perch tacos, we've had other dishes too, really no complaints. Staff has always been friendly and the place has a cool vibe. As for customers on my last visit, about 50% came in masked and then those not. Everyone was fine! I will continue to return and bring my friends! read more

My husband and I stopped in after walking past once, and were glad we did! They were friendly and welcoming, and immediately made us feel at home. They serve several different kinds of grilled cheese - I tried the apple & Brie and my husband tried the prosciutto and Gouda one. Both were very tasty, and come with tortilla chips and a creamy tomato sauce to dip them in. In addition to the grilled cheese, they have an array of panini and meat & cheese plates. All the food is reasonably priced, from $6-9. The bar specializes in bourbon and beer, but they have vodka, gin, wine, and cider as well. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant. From the adorable deck area to the absolutely lovely and charming brothers who run this place....every bit of this experience made our visit to the area memorable. I don't remember both of their names, but the brothers who run the place are so kind and friendly and knowledgeable about what goes into each dish. We ate here because of our food allergic child. He had one of the best meals of his life! It's amazing to talk to the person who creates menu items and know that they know every last ingredient. We should all eat this way- food allergies or not. My lamb burger was to die for and the drinks were great too. We loved it and we wish this restaurant well. The nicest people we met on our trip by a mile. read more

My favorite spot to grab a meal in Saranac-- wings are excellent and the my are not afraid to play around with the menu. Poutine was excellent as was the Po Boy sandwich. I had high hopes for this place based on the reviews... showed up at 10pm hoping to get a quick appetizer and some drinks but was greeted by a packed bar and only one high top open. Ok, no biggie. We sat at the high top next to a couple that was finishing up their food then were rudely approached by the waitress who said "I hope you guys arent here for food because I'm only just finishing up their order, we stop serving food at 10, if you want drinks go to the bar" She didnt even wait for us to respond and walked back away, only to go back behind the bar where we witnessed more of her nasty attitude. At the bar we ordered two drinks, one that was so strong my partner couldnt even choke it down. We watched as the cups were getting "cleaned" ... dropped in soapy water and then rinsed in other water then left to dry and send back out. Not washed at all. Over all we went here hoping to have a nice night out and ended up going directly home with sour tastes in our mouths from the over priced, crap drinks. This was my first time in Saranac Lake and I couldn't have picked a better place to stop for lunch. The waitress was super friendly and helped me pick the Crab Po Boy and a Dogfish Head from the menu. The crab was fresh and delicious and the beer hit the spot. She even gave me local suggestions for the rest of the day. The restaurant is conveniently located right off the main drag and has a free parking lot next door. Entering into the bar, it was packed. Luckily, more seating was to come in the back room. Bitters and Bones had a fairly eclectic menu and we decided to try some of their Asian-inspired dishes. Tofu appetizer, amazing (and spicy ). Bahn Mi, extra amazing. In addition to the good food, our waitress was very nice and the food came out so quickly. We stayed 8-10pm and the restaurant was full most of the time. Back in the bar there were a variety of local musicians who were having a lot of fun and bringing some good vibes. My wife and I rented out the back room at Bitters and Bones to host welcome drinks for our wedding and we had a blast! Johnny was beyond helpful and kind throughout the process and everything went off without a hitch on the night of; we couldn't be happier with our decision. The local brews were flowing and the food was delicious. We heard several of our guests returned for lunch the next day and they had nothing but compliments of the food and the staff. A fantastic establishment in Saranac Lake. The clean, rustic decor inside is fitting for the classy and relaxed atmosphere at Bitters and Bones. Twice I've experienced great service and now I got to make some great friends. The menu is very tasteful and the staff knowledgable. I enjoyed sharing a meat and cheese plate with new friends and we all appreciated how well the various meats, cheeses, and veggies blended in flavor. The beer selection is nice and I love the craft beers on draft. Their cocktails are top notch, I was very pleased with the Old Fashioned I ordered. It's my test of a good drink. The bartender was very attentive and pleasant and the music wasn't too loud so I could enjoy conversations with new friends. Excellent food! A brief, but creative menu. I was there with a group of 10 people, and everyone loved their meal. I've been to a number of restaurants in Saranac, including some high-priced ones, and this has been by far my favorite. The decor needs work, but the food is amazing, and our server Gabby was tops! Looking forward to going back. I'm not a wings fan normally, but their wings were the best! Nice and crispy and not at all greasy. The brussel sprouts also were perfectly carmelized. Nice local spot. Cozy Adirondack cabin style vibe with a little hipster thrown in. We were greeted warmly and there was friendly service throughout. We started with the wings with the Harrisa sauce. The waitress emphasized how hot they were, however I thought they were just mild, although they were tasty with a little spice. They were the closest thing they had to buffalo style sauce on the wings. Very nice. I had the bitters burger. Wow, this thing was really good. Nice toppings, tasty, decent sized, cooked just right. Local tavern right in the town of Saranac Lake NY has a strong following. They have a rustic industrial interior with two rooms for their patrons. Staff is always friendly and attentive. We had just finished a day of skiing and wanted a quick lunch break. Wings and beer sounded like a go to meal and we headed over to Bitters and Bones. Football on the TV screens, cold brew in my glass and a cider margarita in my other half's glass we dove into the house made NU NU sauced wings. Wings are like pizza everyone has their favorite style and preparations. NU NU wings did not disappoint. Fresh large wings were properly cooked ( not fried to death ) moist and the flavor profile of their house made sauce was just right for our drinks and appetite. We almost couldn't finish them but we persevered like troopers. They do offer many other meal options from American fare to Asiatic and worth investigating. noise level can be a bit loud when the house is full and street parking is available. The industrial interior does not lend itself to very comfortable seating if that is important to you. Would like to see some more comfortable options for us old folk LOL.
