My husband got the stuffed French toast and I got the huevos rancheros. For our toddler, we were able to get potatoes, eggs, and a slice of bacon for $4. The prices are very reasonable and it's in a nice little area. If we are ever in the area again, we'll gladly return! read more

Bittersweet Kitchen never disappoints. Everything is fabulous, if I lived closer, I would never be eating at home. The chicken caprese sandwich was fabulous and so was the chicken bacon club. The S'mores pancakes are always a favorite as is their French toast. Their dinners are amazing, meatloaf, chicken and waffles and PIZZA. These are artisan and delicious pizzas. As a disclaimer, this place is typically 4 stars in my opinion (3 if you compare it to places in Phili) but my recent experience has prompted me to write this review to try to correct a behavior so that it doesn't continue. I called in an order with the intent to order pecan banana pancakes, however I wanted to hear the specials before placing that order. Instead of having the specials read off to me I receive a response along the lines of "Sir, we are very busy and I can't read you the specials. If you want to know the specials, then please go on line to look them up at eatbittersweet.com". At which point I replied "So instead of reading them off to me you want me to hang up, go on line, look them up, and then call back." She replied..."Yes" This was irritating for 3 reasons. 1) The total amount of interaction time associated with explaining that she wasn't going to read the specials to me plus, me asking if she expected me to hang up, and the time to call back in was probably actually longer than if she just read off the specials. 2) I've never had a restaurant refuse to read the specials...for a place that typically has good customer service, it was rude. 3) I WAS HUNGRY!!! Admittedly I was very furious and was questioning whether to put the order in at all. However because I didn't have any food in the house and I was hungry, I complied. If anyone at Bittersweet is reading this review then my recommendation for improvement is as follows: If someone calls in and asks for the specials try a different response. Maybe something along the lines of "Sir, here are the specials ...(reads off specials). Also you can find a listing of them on eatbittersweat.com Because we tend to be very busy with people calling in orders for takeout it help us out alot if in the future you review them on line first prior to calling in the order". Admittedly I didn't know their specials were listed on their website. If she would have provided me with the response listed above with a recommendation of what to do next time I would have apologized and ensured looked there first in the future. Right now I'm questioning whether I'll every go back...which is a shame since I go there pretty regularly. read more

Awesome brunch! Went Saturday before Mother's Day so there was a short wait time. But if you do have to wait feel free to go in and have a cuppa coffee while you're waiting. Delicious! Many vegan options in this homey restaurant. Love the vegan pancakes, chili and vegan huevos rancheros (you have to ask for them). But not a fan of their policy not to seat incomplete parties (even if there are open tables) or to take strollers at all times. No possibility of a peaceful meal with a sleeping baby. Let's start by saying we've had take out three times and eaten in twice this far and plan on returning many more times. On our first visit, my fiancé got the French toast BLT and raved over it for hours! He brought home some chocolate chip pancakes for our little one and I and (of course I sampled) they were amazing! Today was an eat in event. With our two under two kids in tow, we ventured in and embarked on a Saturday morning breakfast. We were greeted and seated promptly and within moments of getting our water, a hand off of our baby went very wrong and mommy spilled the water. We were immediately assisted by the staff and owner (who couldn't have been more gracious, understanding, and accommodating). She even brought my little one some crayons and paper to color :) The rest of the breakfast was uneventful spill wise, but it was memorable for another reason: its deliciousness! As shown in our pictures, we each had the eggs, biscuit, bacon, sausage (best I've EVER had and I struggle to find a sausage I didn't like). Our toddler had pancakes and French toast (he likes to sample) and we tried these as well. Just as before, they were yummy!!! Overall, I'd highly recommend getting yourself together (get there early on the weekend) and either eat in or take out (both were equally good)! We've had nothing but good experiences with the food, gracious owner and the staff. Also, while some complain about cost, I'd assume they aren't used to eating breakfast at places that use quality ingredients. For $34 bucks we fed ourselves (my man likes to eat), a toddler, and food to spare. This is reasonable for the experience and food quality! read more

Found this as we were passing through... worth the stop! The service was incredible, friendly, and so helpful. Offering us to-go drinks on the way out was the cherry on top! The pancakes were perfect - creme brûlée pancakes were incredible and had the hard crust on top. Gotta try the fried Mac and cheese- gooey goodness. The French toast BLT was the perfect combo of sweet and savory- didn't even need the syrup. Had to get the "adult portion" of s'more pancakes and one of their omelet specials. Oh, and gotta mention- hand made homemade biscuits.... wow! Everything tasted fresh and delicious! an hour ago I actually have a hard time putting this up as i wanted this place to be good. It was overpriced, and the food was actually not good. The "sausage " was not liked by me or my daughter. The chocolate chip pancakes were dry and hard and lacking flavor. There was actually no service here as you walk in and go to a counter to order, then you sit and they drop things off in stages. We needed to wait for everything to come out in stages, yes. We paid for our meal, "tip included " before we had anything. We will never go back and i live around the corner. My vegan chili was cold & dry. I had to stop different waitresses as they were walking by bc I wasn't checked on not one time. I also had to ask for the cornbread that came with the vegan chili, I wasn't asked if I wanted it or not just wasn't given it until I requested it. This is by far my best experience getting breakfast at a restaurant. I had the challah stuffed French toast, and it was amazing. I just couldn't stop eating it. And it doesn't stop at the food, the atmosphere is also amazing, with cool items from media's past hanging on the walls and using mason jars as their glasses. They also have live flowers at every table. This will definitely be somewhere I come back to. Looking to try the kielbasa sandwich. I don't have any doubt it will be just as terrific. read more

This is the best breakfast place in Media. The huevos rancheros are the best around and the homemade apricot jelly is great! VEGANS BEWARE!!!!! Really wanted to like this place. The bottom of the menu states "vegan? Ask us" to which they offer ONE meal (Huveos Rancheros) with tofu. They neglect to mention the potatoes, that are included in the price, are deep fried...in the same fryer as meat. When asked if they could just boil potatoes? No. How about a side of fruit? No. Side salad? No. How about a discount for not offering a replacement for part of my meal that I already paid for, No. the manager owner offered a side, for an extra cost since "tofu is expensive." All they had to do was boil a few potatoes or throw some fruit in a bowl, instead management argued and ignored that they misrepresented their vegan options as well as blatant false advertising. Shame, the food, that I was able to eat, was decent. Final Grade: D+, it was more bitter then sweet read more
