The food was average and served all of the breakfast classics. I have tried the chocolate chip pancakes, hamburger, and biscuit. I met friends here for apps. It's a very strange welcome to a business to have an I hate the President of the USA sign in the entrance of the restaurant. So much for the "tolerant left". Whatever. This is a great brunch place. It does get very busy, so calling in advance is recommended. They dont take reservations but can place your name on the wait list half hour in advance. We ordered the huevos rancheros and smores pancake for the kids. The eggs were tasty- lots of different flavors which combine well together. The Smores pancakes was a hit for one child and a miss for the other simply because it was too sweet.. so for those with a sweet tooth...look into those pancakes. read more

My daughter and I stopped in, for the first time, this morning. The cozy dining room was inviting, but we were pressed for time and just wanted a take-out order for her. We were greeted immediately by a very welcoming and accommodating staff lady (don't know if she was a manager, owner or waitress). My daughter ordered a chicken salad sandwich on gluten-free bread with potatoes and an ice coffee. You could tell this place knows how to take care of gluten-free patrons. Gluten-free folk, rejoice! I had gf stuffed french toast with bananas and caramel and it was filling and delicious. It's pretty crowded on the weekends, but we went for an afternoon brunch and we sat right away and the food came out quickly. My husband got a burger and he loved it. I'm excited to go back and try other gluten free items! Update: Everytime I have gone, I got the stuffed french toast because it is so delicious. Today, I went wild and got the creme brulee pancakes(made gluten free). OH MY GOSH. SO. GOOD. My husband got the breakfast enchiladas and he said they were also delicious. Clean, busy, happy, kids, mom's, business exe. Are words that come to mind when as I write this review. Nice specialty board and a good selection on the breakfast menu. Open for breakfast and lunch but check for dinner hours. Not a big fan of paying for food and dropping a tip before served but that's how it's done here. You order at the counter and they bring it all to your table. My pancakes (choc chip) were good but my eggs were over cooked and my meat was cold. Although the mgr. did remove it from the bill ( great gesture) but never the less it happened. My guest had a great specialty omelette along with a great homemade biscuit and large cut home fries. After ordering up at the counter, they give you a recipe book as your order number so your server can bring your meal! Candied Pecan Banana Pancakes [$9] Bourbon maple syrup In addition to their regular brunch menu, there are plenty of specials up on the board. On this particular day, candied pecan banana pancakes were on offer. Light and fluffy, with candied pecans studded throughout the pancake, there was a light dusting of powdered sugar to bring each bite into sweet bliss. Asparagus, Mushroom, & Goat Cheese Omelet [$11] Breakfast potatoes, scone The GF's omelet special was hearty and flavorful - earthy mushrooms and asparagus were paired with tangy goat cheese within a light and perfectly cooked omelet. The subtly sweet scone rounded out the dish, along with breakfast potatoes, which were crisped and well-seasoned. French Toast BLT [$12] Brown-sugar bacon, breakfast potatoes I had to go for the french toast BLT, which featured plenty of sweet and crisp candied bacon, crisp lettuce, juicy tomato, and mayo - all housed within fluffy, yet lightly textured french toast. An extra drizzle or dunk of the maple syrup brought each bite over the top. Fried Pickles [$6] Remoulade Bittersweet Kitchen was already out of the fried mac n cheese by 11AM, but fear not - the fried pickles hit the spot! Crisp and salty - I loved that these were thin sliced pickles vs. the spears I typically find in Philly. So if you're ever in Media, PA, I'd definitely recommend hitting up Bittersweet Kitchen. We met up with some friends from Philly here for brunch and were not disappointed. The restaurant is bustling and has a cozy feel with paintings from local artists. I ordered the French Toast BLT, which seemed to be the perfect strange combination of breakfast and lunch. The toast was thick and soft and the bacon was delicious - I just dipped it in the syrup. My wife got the peppermint pancakes which came with a sugar and cream cheese topping. We also got the special of pumpkin fritters, which were kind of like pumpkin flavored beignets. Extremely warm, almost like biting into a cloud! The only thing I can find to complain about is that the wait staff wasn't super attentive, but we still felt taken care of and they didn't have many people on the floor. Five stars! read more

Bittersweet is the best option there is for brunch in Media and should be regarded highly in the Philadelphia area in general. The service is awesome. The food is awesome. Pricing is always surprisingly fair compared to other breakfast places. Honestly, bittersweet out does everywhere in media when it comes to presentation and fresh options and is on par with places like green eggs, Sabrina's cafe, and many other popular Philadelphia spots. I like the menu here and it hasn't changed much since my first visit here. Today was disappointing. Service continues to be friendly and the hostess gracious. We arrived at 8 am knowing that it fills up by 9 am and got the second table. My dining partner and I both ordered French toast and coffee - one of us from the menu and the other the pumpkin French toast special - and 2 coffees. They came out quickly. My dining partner said hers was dry but tasty. My was tepid at best with cold banana on top, not what I wanted on a dreary rainy day. This should not have been the case since we were the second set of patrons. I think they are cutting corners on quality now that they are established. I would give them another chance but I can't give them more than a 2 on this visit. read more

Bittersweet Kitchen is one of the gems of Delaware County and has become a favorite Delco brunch spot for me. Michelle, who runs the place and who I believe is the owner, is very pleasant. The size of the restaurant is small and quaint. The servers all have great personalities. In addition, it is very family friendly. They have a few toys and puzzles for kids of all ages to keep themselves entertained while waiting for their food. Speaking of food, the creme brulee pancakes are delicious. Three fluffy pancakes are stacked with vanilla cream in between each pancake and a burnt sugar top. One of the specials of the day was an omelet with feta cheese, tomato and spinach. It must be a popular special because its been available as a special each time I dined at BSK. They might as well put it on the menu. It came with potatoes and a biscuit. The biscuit is amazing. It is so sweet and buttery. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a great brunch spot in Delco. Just visited this place today and had the worst experience. Not only was the food ice cold but the service was horrible. I couldn't even let them know about the food because no one came back to ask us how everything was. To top it all off, one of the employees was filling up my water, and spilled it all over my food and in my lap. I had to pick out the ice cubes from my food... She was very unapologetic, and proceeded to make me clean it up myself. No manager came over to apologize or anything. Paid full price on a meal that was ruined. Great little brunch place! I came here after looking for some good brunch places in the area, and I'm so glad I came here. It was pretty crowded when I got there, so I put my name down and had to wait for about 10-15 minutes before getting seated. Their menu is a little small, but they have specials too. If you don't like runny eggs I would recommend you ask for the eggs to be cooked a little extra because we had clear egg white still in ours which I did not like. Still good! Brussel sprouts were average. Our friend got the sausage gravy and though he raves about it from past visits, he said this time they changed the recipe and he was disappointed. Missing star from the interior. Fine, it's a small place, which makes it charming but it's painted dark blue which makes you feel like you're in a cave. It was so dark and I found it uncomfortable. My partner and I have been here three times for weekend brunch. In every case the restaurant was full and we had a minimal wait time to be seated. Every experience we had with the servers was positive. However, when the place is full, it's LOUD. Ambiance would really benefit from some acoustic treatments on the ceilings and/or walls to temper the din. In terms of food quality, it's been hit or miss. Huevos rancheros are quite good as is the sausage gravy and the kitchen knows how to cook an egg well. On the downside, their biscuits are sweet, chewy and dense rather than the expected buttery, salty and flaky. A recent order of steak and eggs resulted in a decent sized portion of sirloin that was cooked perfectly to temperature but lacked flavor and salt. As it's a local option for us I really hope to see improvements made both to the space and the menu and food quality. read more
