Clam Chowder bread bowl. A must
    Hoang N.

I've been a BJs customer since Cali. Was super excited they had came to the valley in like 2008 or something right around where I relocated from SoCal. At first I was afraid they wouldn't last since a lot of franchises seems not to stay too long...even so nowadays. Food and service has gotten way better Over the years. Management is always accommodating about minor to major complaints , not that I'm the one to complain , but to attention for a better experience on my future visits. My all time favorite items are the bread bowls, chicken chopped salad and avocado eggrolls. Pizza always a great option...deep dish style and very loaded. Pizookie definitely can't go wrong for dessert.

Friends and I went to hit a quick bite here. Their happy hour specials were really great. For $3 you get chips and salsa with guacamole. They just keep it coming too. Was a great deal. The mini pizzas are normally $13 but happy hour they are half off. I got the house pizza and the Buffalo chicken pizza. The pizzas were really good and decent price for $7 a piece. I definitely wouldn't pay full for them though I ordered a house red ale that was on happy hour for $5 and it was a good beer at great price. Service was pretty great

Good food and service but very noisy. Multiple screens on and music blaring. My head hurt when I left. I won't be back!!

    Delicious beer

Delicious beer menu....great variety of entrees.... multiple types of seating options...and attentive waiters..BJs has always been a great place for us to eat. I've been to BJs multiple times by now and finally decided to put pen to paper...or finger to phone? The one "appetizer" that never fails are the bread bowl soup options. Absolutely fantastic...each one. I've tried the tomato/basil, chili, broccoli cheddar, and the tortilla soup options, each one equally filling and delicious (even tho my personal faves are the tomato and broccoli options). The bread is perfectly toasted with a delectable taste of garlic with each bite. Every time I visit BJs...the bread bowl is a MUST. I've sampled the wings...the deep dish pizza...tavern pizza...pasta. Every single dish has a depth of flavor. It tastes fresh, every single ingredient shines and the flavors are not complicated. I do like their sitting arrangements. When you enter, you can see different sections and each section produces it's own ambience. There's the bar area with all the TVs for the late night drinkers who might get a little loud. Then the one-seat booths for the couples on dates one section over. Then the larger booths/tables for bigger groups. And then on it's own, you have a side where it's obviously for families with little ones. It's very well thought out. Their beer menu cannot be compared....their beer options are the perfect complements to their meals. The beers do not feel separate but part of the meal. I drank two 8% glasses and left feeling...well amazing. Top quality ingredients...diverse menu... appealing environment...this is a must stop if you're from McAllen or just passing by.

Wanted to really like this place, but it didn't go well unfortunately…read more Menu has a lot to offer and some of their prices are a little steep. Browsed the menu & ended up just getting their "tossed salad". I asked what was on it which was; sliced tomato, shredded carrot, red onion & cucumber. Opted out of the cucumber & requested two blue cheese dressings. My husband ordered their cheeseburger dressed with pepper jack cheese. My salad arrived fairly quickly & it was on a flat plate with a weak portion for $7.75. The two dressings were in taco cups over flowing with a hefty amount of fresh blue cheese crumbles packed on top. Super disappointed with not only the presentation, the cost & never being asked if I wanted my salad prior or when my husband received his meal. I ended up pushing it to the side & was waiting for our waitress to return to not only ask if my husband would like another beer, but to also provide the option of not eating that ridiculous amount of rabbit food-getting a refund OR to bring out more lettuce & ask to please just bring out standard blue cheese dressing without the added amount of crumbled cheese. We don't see our server for sometime, so I went to the hostess asking if she were also the manager which she stated she wasn't & that they were at the bar. That's when our server came up behind me & asked if there was a problem. I explained the situation to her, then she tells me that this dressing is always served this way and that, that is what blue cheese dressing is! She seemed confused about the crumbles & was almost trying to mock me. I've worked in the food industry & know how these product come into the restaurants. Blue cheese dressing does have blue cheese "chucks" within the original recipe. If you are doing things differently then that, it should stand out more on their menu as "homemade" and again expressed by the server, but she made it as if I were just suppose to know their process. It's salad dressing, it shouldn't be this difficult! LOL After this fiasco, they brought more salad and a watered down milky dressing that had zero flavor and zero cheese along with sliced cucumber?! The consistency was like milk. It was running, bland, NO blended cheese in the base-it definitely wasn't blue cheese dressing! WT?! This ALL transpired while my husband was still waiting on his burger & fries . About another 15 minutes goes by, I finally had to just start in on the bland salad. My husband's beer still sat empty & was never told when his burger would be served the few times are server swung by regarding my order issues. 20 minutes later, she comes by again & he was asked if it was cheddar cheese & he said, "no it was pepper jack". A total of 30 minutes he waited for a very rare burger, cold fries & FINALLY another beer! Terrible service and food wasn't very good either.

Our waitress, Marlene, was fabulous. She was attentive and friendly. For our entrees, we ordered the Filet Mignon and the Smoked Duck Breast. The filet was incredibly tender and flavorful, which isn't always easy to achieve with such a lean cut of meat. The beef jus paired perfectly with it. The duck breast was tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The highlight of the night, however, was the Key Lime Soufflé. This was easily one of the best desserts I've ever had. The balance of flavors was perfect. Not too sweet, not too tart, just the right amount of key lime. The soufflé itself was also baked perfectly. Every course was excellent, the service was outstanding, and the entire meal felt incredible from beginning to end. If you're visiting SPI and looking for a memorable dinner, F&B is absolutely worth a visit.

We dined at F&B on New Year's Eve 2025. It was a +/- experience. First, Marlene was our waitress,…read moreshe was awesome! One of the best service experiences we've had in years! Hustle is her middle name... thank you ma'am, you made the evening! The menu was a chef's selection 4 course menu, with options for each course. We opted for the wine pairings with each course. The restaurant was decked out with New Year's regalia... with balloons, hats, noise makers, at every table... really fun atmosphere! All the staff were decked out fancy, looked great! For our first course, we selected lobster bisque mushroom soup. The mushroom soup was divine, absolutely fabulous. The lobster bisque was sub-par... while plentiful, the lobster was not fresh, tasted very fishy. The second course of the seafood medley and venison bites was equally Jekyll and Hyde! Venison, superb, tender, cooked perfectly, tasted great. The seafood medley, all super fishy ... not fresh! Crab claws mushy too, obviously frozen prior. Oysters pitifully small and warm. Shrimp, while cold, were very fishy and mushy, as if previously frozen. No bueno! Our third course was the surf/turf and Akashi short rib ragout. The turf was awesome, best steak we've had in years! The lobster ... pitiful, small, overcooked, tough and fishy! Disgusting! The ragout was good, but we're not sure why chef's make beef dishes sweet ... good beef stands on its own, no need to over season! Not a well conceived dish... Our final course was the chocolate soufflé and lemon cake ... both were terrific! The soufflé with Chantilly cream and whipped cream was very good. The star dessert was the lemon cake with fresh fruit! Light and airy cake, the fruit was to die for. Delicious! The wind pairings were good, although some of the selections were "tired" favs, like "The Prisoner"... IMHO. Such a good wine list at F&B, the pairings were disappointing! The staff whisked away a 1/2 finished pre-dinner martini, which Marlene graciously replaced! When you spend $500+ on dinner for two, even a special evening, the restaurant should deliver. F&B did not meet the standard on New Year's Eve. We won't be back this trip..,

Walking in my son was like this has a great vibe, it's going to be so good! Walking out he said... well we got tricked. We ordered raw oysters, they were super gritty I had to pick sand and stuff out of my mouth, I gave up after the second one. Clam chowder was like white water with seasoning on top. It had zero flavor and was so watery. Luckily our server had just brought us a sample so we didn't lost any money, just said no thank you, but thank you for the sample. Dinner we had kids chicken which was a thin tender that was over fried so more like rubber. The kids shrimp was alright, I would for sure do that over the kids chicken, but they didn't get finished either. The hush puppies were also over fried, I was so excited to try them but the outside and most of the inside was just pure grease fry and just a tiny spot in the middle was still breading, I've literally never seen a hush puppy like it. I was so sad lol. I had a side of blackened shrimp that had good flavor but the shrimp were over cooked and again sort of rubbery. My son had the shrimp poboy, there was no sauce on it, sandwich was so dry he ended up picking off the shrimp and eating them alone. He did not care for the bread they used either which surprised me because he is a carbaholic with a bread obsession. I should have looked at photos before ordering the onion rings. I'm sure some people love the thick cut so it's a total preference thing but the for us no one cared for them. It was cool to see them we were all like whoah! But after 1-2 bites each we were all like meh. The onion slices inside was like eating an apple, they were so thick and now possibly under fried so was like eating a breaded raw onion. After tip I think we spent $140 and I was just disgusted. We've been to the island maybe 6 times and this was by far the worst meal we've had. I was so sad we "wasted" a meal on our trip, there are so many places to eat here. We've driven by the spot for 3-4 years and always wanted to try so what a disappoint. 1 star for food, 5 stars for service, so a 2 star review.
