Hit or miss. That is what we call out local BJ's Brewhouse. And today was a complete miss! The hostess told us it was a fifteen minute along with everyone one else that walked in. It turned into a 30 minute wait to be seated. We ended up being at the restaurant for over three hours, mostly just wait times. I will attach photos of the empty restaurant. They had a lot of staff walking around aimlessly and one server that was running her butt off. Our food did come at a reasonable wait time, however we weren't asked temperatures for our steaks and mine was rare and my wife's was very rare, I can eat a rare but rather medium rare. But no one checked on us forever and no one in site to get help. Finally the server that was running around stopped by to help (found out her name is Alejandra.....they will burn her out and lose a valuable employee) she took my wife's steak back and added a little heat so she could eat it. Her mashed potatoes were gummy My asparagus was not just overcooked it was old and sour.it had taken so long for everything we took our dessert home. Alejandra apologized over and over and did try to make things right and had manager remove one meal, however the only true edible thing was our appetizer. By the way we never saw our server again..... The overall restaurant was clean and mostly empty. Sadly this was a complete miss for us. I really love coming to BJs Salinas. Tonight was an A+. We had a server named Miguel in the bar that did a great job with my wife and two kids. We are a complicated bunch because both kids are young. Miguel immediately built rapport with the two kids. It's almost as if the two kids were his customers! He took the time to learn their names and make sure that their food came out first. The bar and the restaurant was especially busy and he still managed to remember our names & pay very careful attention to us. My wife and I have been to a lot of BJ's over the years. This is our local "go to" & they do a great job. We need to give a shout out to Liz as well. She is one of the managers on site & must be one of the happiest people we know. Where do I start!?! So we went for a late lunch at 1.30pm and were seated and it took Almost 10 mins before the waitress came to our table. Mind you the place was not even busy. We ordered 3 iced teas and water to start. We got the drinks, we asked for lemons and the server said that they didn't have any!?' So we ordered our meals and I ordered bone in wings. the waitress came back a few minutes later and said that they didn't have any so i had to order something else. But here's a kicker... so my friend ordered the fish and chips and what did we see in his plate !?' LEMONS! So we asked our waitress if we can have lemons for our iced tea and low and behold , she said no problem. Was the server lazy or just clueless !?!!! Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I have been going to this BJ's location for more than 10-years. Overall, we had good service and food, but that's no longer the case. Over the last year, the service has gotten worse with each visit and the last time we were there will likely be our last visit to this location. It was a slow night when we came in and the restaurant and our server was not busy at all, at least busy helping their customers. We literally had to get up and find them to ask for things like water and utensils and at the end meal, we had to go to the host to ask them to find the server so we could get our check. Our meal turned into a marathon because we waited so long for everything each step along the way. When we were done eating, the server repeatedly walked by and ignored us, even when we piled our empty plates on the edge of the table. They were completely oblivious. Not once during the entire meal did they check in, ask if we needed anything including drink refills or another beer (my beer was empty for over 30-minutes). The final kicker is being overcharged for one of our beverages and then hearing a made-up explanation. I had to find a menu with the correct price and only then did they fix their mistake. I can't afford to take a family of four to sit down dining establishment that ignores their customers and shame on me for giving them two more chances. read more

While the wait server was excellent, the kitchen/bar staff leaves MUCH to be desired. My wife and I, together with our two grandchildren, attempted lunch on a Friday afternoon. The restaurant was pretty empty and we ordered 2 children's lunches, the unlimited soup and salad, and their special chicken piadina with soft drinks, an iced tea, and a Jeremiah red. It took over 18 minutes for the drinks to be delivered, and another 22 minutes for the entrees to be delivered. When we ordered a salad refill, it took another 15 minutes. Forget ordering another beer-you would have thought they were brewing it in the kitchen. When I spoke to the manager, he reacted in an indolent and indifferent manner. It's clear he had no influence on the back of the house staff, no did he care. I cannot recommend this establishment with its current management. read more

Your typical Bj's experience- check in and get your name on the list. Wait 50-60 minutes to be seated. Scan the barcode for digital menu. Order. So why the lack of stars? Well to be honest the food was terrible. I ordered a simple chicken breast with a side of asparagus. My asparagus was so scorched and over cooked that it was shriveled up and I couldn't even stab a spear with my fork. I tried cutting it into smaller pieces and the steak knife they provided has such large teeth that it was completely missing them too. I literally had to pick them up with my fingers to take a bite- which wasn't worth it. It really wasn't edible. Additionally they were seasoned with (something spicy) and while I can handle spice it wasn't what I was after that late in the evening. I know many people who wouldn't have been able to handle the heat. Really it just comes down to a lack of quality control in what was coming out of the kitchen. read more

The service was good, the waitress was very nice and always checking in. The food itself was okay. I had gotten the prime rib dip but the actual dip was oversalted. The meat itself didn't have a lot flavor either. The fries I could tell had been sitting out for a while because they were room temperature when I received them. It did its job though in satisfying my hunger. The place itself is nice, definitely a place to get some drinks and watch game with some friends. They just need to pay for the electric bill more, it was pretty dim in there especially the area I was seated at. Very un attentive. Drinks literally got there after our food. She never checked on us. She wanted us to pay online with the QR code. But you can't split it on the scan. 150.25 was our tab and we split it 70.25 and the remaining balance 80 and we said 40 on 2 cards. She over charged us an extra 10 each and pocketed some cash. When she dropped the tab we couldn't even get her attention to tell Her it was wrong. She just vanished because she knew what she did. I'm not one to really write reviews but I wanted to give credit where it's due. I hosted a baptism celebration on 7/1. The weeks leading up to it were a bit stressful trying to coordinate each detail for this event. One area where I had no stress at all arranging was the food!!! I want to commend manager Liz from the Salinas BJ's branch. She was so professional in walking me through arranging all the details pertaining to the meal I wanted to serve. She put me at ease and really showed her passion for customer service. I watched her interactions with staff and guests and I could really see that she cared about the guests and her role as a leader to her staff. I just want to say thank you to her and to all attending staff. My celebration was a success thanks to you!! Went to dinner here for my mother's 60th birthday. It was their first time at the restaurant. The atmosphere was great and very clean. They offer a variety of foods on the menu making it a great places for everyone to eat. Our waitress, Aaliyah was amazing. She was very friendly and on top of everything. Liz, one of the manager came by to make sure everything was going well. She was awesome and super sweet. I have to say the greatest customer service I have ever received at a restaurant. We all went home full and happy. And surely will be back again. I do have to mention I highly suggest getting the app as well, you get a free pizookie for signing up. Originally it seemed like we had a bad waiter but by the time we left it was apparent that the Salinas BJ's is just really poorly managed. The wait staff had more tables than they could effectively manage. They were out of simple things like crayons for the kids' placemats and the kitchen was pushing out stale, cold fries. We're used to the two BJ's in Tucson (and the one in Long Beach) which are evidently up to snuff in terms of management and quality of service. We arrived last night to have a nice meal and for my husband to enjoy a drink (I'm not a big drinker). We like to sit in the bar because it saves us from having to wait for a table in the main part of the restaurant, which is usually a 40+ minute wait when we arrive. It's sometimes longer since all the lockdown stuff. Today was no exception; we found a table and sat down within minutes. Our server Dante was great. He was energetic, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. We were very happy with the level of customer service we received from him. It's our experience that the servers in the bar area are the best in the restaurant. I think it's because they have a faster turnover rate so they're always super busy in the bar area. The general dining room is a bit more laid back, serving-wise, so the servers over there treat it as more laid-back. Just our experience but it makes us favor the bar over the dining room. We ordered our appetizers and drinks. I got a sparkling raspberry lemonade but didn't care for it much so I switched it for the vanilla cream soda, which was awesome. I wish I could have brought a gallon of that stuff home with me! (Hint to BJ's: Make this a thing, if you haven't already! And advertise the hell out of it! I may try the root beer next time; you have quite a legacy to live up to with that, though, as I used to work at an A&W Restaurant and theirs is the only root beer I've found that I like thus far!! ;) ) Our apps were pretty good. We got dry boneless wings with sauces on the side. They're simple and good. I noticed that there were fewer per order than I remember, though. That's a bit disappointing. We also got the pot stickers, which are always a treat! While they may not be "authentic asian," they're definitely tasty! My entree and our daughter's were great. She got the soba noodles with chicken and a peanut sauce; I got the deep dish bbq chicken pizza with pineapple added (YES, pineapple DOES belong on pizza...IF it also comes with ham and/or chicken and a bbq drizzle! I will fight you on that and will win, too. Hehehe!!) We thoroughly enjoyed our entrees. Unfortunately, my husband wasn't quite as lucky with his entree. He ordered the jalapeno burger and substituted a bison patty for the regular ground beef patty. He ordered it to be cooked medium; it came super rare. I mean, if it had been beef, it would have been mooing it was so rare. He sent it back and Dante offered his apologies, saying he'd babysit it to be sure it came back medium. When it came, it was brought by a different server and still wasn't medium, but was close enough for my husband to say he'd just eat it. Dante came over apologizing that he couldn't get to it before someone else grabbed it and apologized again when it wasn't quite medium. As I said before, my husband said he'd go ahead and keep it because it was close. Probably another minute on the heat and it would have been perfect. Dante was great with all of this! He offered a free dessert of our choice to compensate for my husband's meal being cooked wrong and came through. We ordered two desserts, thinking we'd pay for the second but Dante didn't charge us for either, saying it was the least he could do for us. Dante is an asset to this establishment and I can't say enough for him as a server. We've had him as our server before and he's always been great. He's full of energy, kind, attentive - but not in an annoying way -, and if I had any say about it he'd get a raise! read more

BEST MISTAKE EVER. We ordered a pepperoni to share and some sodas. It was damn busy. The order took so long to arrive. In the middle of a conversation, waiters arrived with 2 surf and turf plates. Was mad, but also because we're a lil loony, we accepted the order without saying anything. Same waiter arrives with 2 cocktails. We still say nothing. Honestly the wait was 25 minutes when they said it was only going to be 5 minutes. The food itself took another good 30 minutes to be served but overall it was alright nothing too great. I tried one of their house sodas the cream soda and it was flat and kinda warm served with no ice. I honestly just think the waiter didn't like us cause he even literally told us who let y'all in you guys sneaked in didn't you. Wouldn't go back in a million years. Driving down to Carmel and stopped to charge the electric car and ran in here for a bite. We shared the spinach artichoke dip which was good, my son had the barbacoa cauliflower tacos and he liked it a lot, I had the prime rib dip which was good without the dip since it was nice and moist and my husband had the chicken fried steak burger. Portions are large so if you're not that hungry you may want to go for something smaller. I should have just gotten a small appetizer. Next time I'll know. This is a chain so if there is one where you are, good option to stop in since it has an extensive menu. read more

Pizookies!!! Literally the only reason to ever come here. Especially for $3 The plaza it is in gets way too much attention not to mention sharing an already small parking lot with numerous other food joints. Besides parking, if you come here on a weekend, expect it to be crowded. And what does crowdiness bring? Slow service. Besides having to wait an hour when they told and texted us '20 minutes'. The service was horrendous. Don't get me wrong, it's a big restauraunt and each waiter is probably juggling several tables. I understand that, but when customers are literally sitting there with food done and pretty much eye-ing the waiters to find their waiter for the bill, a water refill, or dessert then there is an issue. It wasn't even just a couple of tables as I even witnessed numerous tables raise their hand to flag the waiter. Hmm this next point I think is more of my fault but I think the waiter could have actually asked to make sure. Previously I had the triple chocolate pizookie and it was the best thing ever. Basically imagine brownies and ice cream. Anyways, so I forgot the full name this time and the waiter already took 20 minutes after we finished eating to just bring our check(didn't even check on us or ask if we wanted dessert, just brought the check), when I ask if we could add a chocolate pizookie. My error? There is 2 chocolate pizookies. One that is a chocolate chip called a chocolate chunk pizookie(?) w/ their vanilla ice cream. Now yes, it is my fault, but I think he could have spent an extra 15 seconds asking me which one instead of just ordering the first one he remembered because they both have chocolate in their name. Waited an 1 1/2 hours before some of the entrees were delivered. Not only were most of the steaks overcooked, the veggies and the meat were barely warm. The service was extremely slow. The empty plates from our apps were never removed from the table. We were never asked for a second drink and never asked if everything was ok. Will never comeback to this establishment.
