Slow service, poor service, decent food. We came here for my birthday late afternoon on a Sunday before heading to the movies and our waitress was incredibly slow at bringing waters, providing menus, bringing silverware, checking on us, bringing dessert, and bringing our receipt after the meal. We'd ordered our dessert at the same time we ordered the food and it took so long that we had to take it to go. Beyond this, it seemed like the waitress was simply too bothered to actually check in with us or actually have anything ready at the table (such as silverware). I was also supposed to receive a pizookie for my birthday and never did. Super disappointing because I was looking forward to it. They weren't very busy when we arrived, so there wasn't any visible reason as to why service would be so poor. The food was fine, but nothing to write home about. My father, sister, and I all ordered steaks and not a single one was cooked correctly. Out of two medium rare steaks and one medium steak, we receive one rare steak, one well done steak, and one medium well steak. Definitely frustrated with the overall experience and unlikely to come back to the BJs in Temple anytime soon. read more

There wasn't much that was too much of an issue other than the intense smell of wet bar towels and maybe vinegar. It was too strong. I will start out my saying the drinks were absolutely delicious and flavorful! The brussels sprouts came with a honey Sriracha sauce that you mix in. The flavor was a acquiring taste, but i added a little lemon and salt and that carried the flavor a bit. The chicken came a lemon sauce also. Not very flavorful at all! It was a little bland. I also added lemon. The asparagus was their best thing on that plate. The mashed potatoes came with no gravy (so i asked for more of them lemon sauce that came with the chicken and added lemon) the smothered steak and fries was a miss also! The gravy tasted watered down!! And fries were cold and hard a little. They crunched like chips. Im kinda disappointed I expected more. Especially for my tab to come out to $68.97. BJ's has one of the best menus and beer selections next to Yard House. It seems like their menu spiffs up everytime we decide to dine at one. I like the big space and interior design in all BJ's restaurants. The energy during game days is always exciting. We usually struggle with our final selection of which meal to get. Our tactic is to order for sharing. This way, we can satisfy what our eyes believe our stomachs want. This struggle actually turns into a discussion with successful resolutions. It makes good practice with agreeing to disagree too. Not only does BJ's sharpen our interpersonal skills with family members, but they also have a way to help us make amends with their pizookies. Yes, BJ's specializes in dessert therapy. No talking required. That can wait until after consumption when hangry episodes have calmed down. Overall, the friendly service, great food and beer selections, delicious plates, and therapeutic desserts here at BJ's will bring us back to them now and then. No doubt about it, this has been a poor dining experience. I'm giving an extra star because the waitress was nice, but everything else... well, you'll understand. After the initial order was placed, we were informed that they could no longer make a medium pizza - it had to be a mini or a large...um, ok. After that, we were informed separately that another dish we ordered was not available. Salads came out and we ate them with our hands because there was no one wrapping silverware. My daughter's drink arrived 15 min after everyone else's... it was the wrong drink. Food arrived. It was not good. Fries were cold and not salted. Average burger. Pasta dish had zero flavor... Went with two kids under the age of 10. And they sat us in the bar area instead of at a table. This was around 4 PM, 90% of the tables in the restaurant were empty. After ten minutes of listening to the table beside us - a group of four adults (30-40 years old) constantly swearing, I asked the waiter if she could move us. She did. To a table a couple tables down....still in the bar. Sigh. Ordered the pub style pizza as it is my favorite dish they serve. We go there about once a month just for it on half-price pizza Mondays! Great deal for excellent pizza. I've had this pizza probably 25 times over the last two years. It's alway the same. Which is what you want, right? This time it was a totally different pizza. Usually it's a thin crispy crust. Today it was soggy. Like it needed 10 more minutes in the oven. It wasn't "close"....it was "gross." Usually the pub style pizza is thin on sauce and toppings. This time, there was at least double - maybe triple the amount of pizza sauce. And probably double the cheese. I realize some people love tons of sauce and cheese, more power to ya bruh. But that's not the style this pizza has been for the past couple of years. Crispy thin crust, with a small splash of sauce and cheese. This was the exactly opposite. Finally, this one had huge chunks of stewed tomatoes on it. Again, some people love them. Which is cool. But the last 25 times I've ordered this pizza, there was NO chunks of tomato. This trip, it had a bunch of soggy, gross chunks of tomatoes. This wasn't a "oh, we had a new chef so they didn't nail it like we usually do" situation. This was like a totally different pizza. We ate maybe 20% of it and left the rest. Just a terrible experience. From sitting a group of kids in the bar to completely changing the pizza....yuck. read more

So, my fiance and I came on Valentine's day. He got the ribeye and I got the 8 oz sirloin. First off, sirloin was tough "as a boot" my fiance would say. I get sirloins everywhere else and I actually enjoy them- never impossible to cut. But here? not only is your steak terrible, but they can never cook it right! I also got steamed broccoli, it was raw not even the slightest bit steamed. All I ate was my mashed potatoes and we still had to pay for my meal. Really? Server said manager would be right over but never saw his/her face- only comped half of my meal- even though i didnt eat it but still $80 for basically just my fiance's meal? I understand you guys were busy but no one even tried to make it right besides taking the money off. Not to mention we got Spinach Dip and it came after our meals. Overall sad experience but definitely no better than any regular day- not sure which is worse. 0/10 every single time we have came. hasnt missed a beat. Last evening I had a hankering for steak, which is rare for me as I don't eat red meat often. I remembered BJ's had the best steak I've had in recent memory in their Tri-tip entree l so off my son & I went. Per usual the atmosphere was decent. This is one restaurant to patronize where the noise level is always at a level for all to enjoy. Even during major sports seasons. My son ordered the Paidina & I had the Tri-tip. Hmmmm...although I was completely disappointed I was a bit. The Tri-tip was pretty good however the cut of steak I received was a bit too thick for the flavors to sink all the way through compared to other times I ordered this entree. The center was extremely bland. The appearance made it look like a huge oval meatball on the plate versus a cut of steak. As stated it was "pretty good" as compared to "absolutely delicious" every other time especially when this entree has become my "go to" when I want steak. Fortunately the free pizookie coupons I received when I donated to the "longest day" campaign rounded out the meals just right. This spot is completely disorganized, we had a reservation for 6:00 pm for a party of 13 and had called earlier in the day to confirm our reservation was still in good standing. We were assured that everything was set and that our reservation was in time. When we arrived early, we were told it would be about 10 minutes to sit due to the amount of patrons. Unfortunately several smaller parties arrived and were seated, and two large parties who arrived after us were seated. When we requested a time frame for our reservation to be honored we were then told it would be an hour wait. At this point we made the decision to leave. The service was incredibly disappointing as were were there to celebrate two graduates! I will never trust them to make a reservation with them again. read more

BJ's is a nice place to go, always a crowd, plenty of TVs, good HH specials. The food is good - nothing spectacular, but pretty good, and the beer selection is great. The service is what typically drags this place down - - it's inconsistent and can be spotty at best. We've been here several times recently, and I'd have to say we have some issues w/ quality of service nearly everytime. The various issues include: waiting too long to get your food, waitstaff disappears longer than expected, drinks are not filled, service is reactive instead of proactive , or we're usually waiting for something and then have to put in a request when the waitstaff shows up. The Managers are usually very nice and professional, they'll walk around and will at times check in with you. If you escalate to them they are usually very accomodating and eager to please. That's a great thing, but after the same mistakes happen over and over you just get tired about complaining about the same thing. A couple of us had the unlimited soup and salad lunch combo. The 1st round of salads came out in a jiffy, the soup took longer than expected. They finished the salads, which was then replaced w/ soup, but the waiter never asked if anyone wanted more salad....and he never came back for a while. After finishing their soups they sat idle for a while - - no one came back to check up. It wasn't too busy at all, not to mention we had to ask for sugar and silverware initially and never got the sugar, had to take if off another table. Don't deny us any sugar, pretty please (with sugar on top). My fish and shrimp tacos were - - okay - - nothing great or exceptional. The tomato bisque was very good, and my friends loved their caesar salads - - they just wished they could have more of it. So if BJ's could be more consistent w/ their quality of service - - well - - I'd put them back up at 4 stars easily. We did, however, enjoy Vanessa's service during one lunch - - she's pretty darn good. I think next time we'll request her. read more
