Not only was the wait time acceptable on a busy weekend. The waitress made sure we and all her tables were tended to. I am a wine driver and the selection was excellent, with wines I would only usually find in a liquor store. I had the salmon blackened, which has the most divine favor, and my family attending with me had mouth-watering Mahi tacos. When I addressed the waitress about the phenomenon service that we have in 2 Years just not stopped, she brought the GM over. After having a brief conversation with him, I can say that he not only leads his team to succeed but has succeeded in how his food is presented. We arrived at BJ's around 12:15/12:30 on Saturday June 6th(2020). Our party of 4 were seated at the round corner booth next to Patio Door. While seated in the booth across from us was a table where 3 different parties were seated and all three parties wanted to move - after moving each time, table was never wiped down And for some reason the two hostesses kept seating everyone at tables next to each other - WHY - No 6 feet distance? As much as I liked BJ's the SANITIZING WAS NOT EVIDENT! If the MGR wants proof our booths order was paid in cash the bill was $68(around) 2 small pizzas, 1 order Avacado Rolls and 1 order Chicken Potstickers! I am having the worst time for restaurants in Texas. Sat at the bar, which was dirty from the patron before me. 2 bartenders and one was busy talking to one particular customer. Ordered a drink, didn't make it right but it was an easy fix. Ordered a steak, asparagus, and sweet potato fries. Took forever... finally I ask if I should be worried everyone that has been in after me already had food??? Bartender asks someone yo check on order and comes out saying food is ready they are just waiting on fresh fries... ok... then my food wasn't ready. Ordered a medium rare steak told bartender if the cook can't cook med rare bring it rare... nope she assured me he would get it med rare. That is red warm center... she goes and gets my food, sets down what looks like shriveled up asparagus and a med well steak. I sent it back paid for my unfinished drink and left. I don't understand how service is so non existent. I went to chili's and was greeted and served immediately. I'll leave a review for food but service is already better. Drink is fab too. Also watched them sit another patron at a spot on the bar that was still holding the dirty plates and spilled beer all over. Unfortunately, I am downgrading my review. The pizza and beer is exceptional. Their Margarita's are so sub par it's shocking. This past year we have been 3 times, only because each time we were hoping the drinks had improved. Well, they haven't. We even got their Margarita flight this last visit so we were able to try a few different ones. We sent it back because they simply were not good. Tasted like they were mostly sweet and sour. The other thing I wish they would improve on is their nachos. The chips are so greasy. Never had nachos with such greasy chips before. Only this place. And yes, I've tried them twice. Great choice for a meal while visiting Temple. Yes, it is a chain, but it is a good one. The restaurant has a very nice decor, its ample and modern. They have a good selection of cocktails and an outstanding selection of beers, some of their own and a good number of choices of almost every kind - from whet Germans to Belgium whites to stouts and IPAs. The nice thing about BJs is that it has something for everyone, and almost always the food is pretty good. We had the salmon and a pizza and they were both very good. After a long day of working I stop at bjs get the ahi salad with no purple /red onion (due to a food allergy) Which I relaid to my food server. Which she repeated. Well at looking at my food, everything looked fine. After eating some of it I seen something in my salad to my dismay it was purple /red onion. So I went on to see if it was just that one piece. This place is a joke.....it was a weekday afternoon, not a soul in the place and we had to wait 15 minutes on the hostess. This should have been our sign to turn around and leave, but against our better judgment we stayed. The hostess sat us down the little steps and to the right, second red flag.....seating a customer that uses a walker where there's steps....but again we stayed. Sat at the table for another 10 minutes then the hostess comes back and says it'll be a few minutes that she didn't have any servers. Why seat us if you can't serve us? She took our drink order and we ordered two beers, someone brought the beer and we thought things were going to be okay. Someone comes to take our order, I got the fish and chips, and my buddy got a burger. Easy order, comes out fast, everything but the fish is cold, at this point we just wanted to eat and get back on the road. We each ordered another beer and waited for the check......that's when I realized I was charged $8.25 per beer! $8.25 for a damn Dos Equis......$8.25 is what they rang them up for. $90 for a cold lunch with old ass food. My husbands drink was forgotten, I had to get up and go to the hostess table to ask for a knife to eat my food, which was then presented to me as if the server was using it as a stabbing device. Our food came out cold. My husband had to ask for a plate for his food, then ask for another because the first was dirty. No refills, even on water. We feel we spent the whole evening tracking down staff just to get basics such as silverware, water and plates. Our desert that came with the meal was forgotten. Def a step up from the appleby/chillies/etc of the world (sorry for the spelling). Only a three star though as the last couple of times we've went, the service has been pretty subpar. On our last trip there were four of us. We spent TWO hours there. The waiter was disheveled, had stains all over his black shirt, and was sweating quite heavily. He apologized several times for how slow it was going. But come on bruh, nobody wants to spend two hours getting lunch, especially when the restaurant wasn't very busy. We went for our anniversary dinner. The service was excellent. We splurged and had steak. My husband's ribeye, though perfectly cooked, lacked seasoning. The rub that was supposed to be on it either didn't make it on the steak or was tasteless. We both had the grilled veggies, which were extremely dry and extremely al dente. We came in for a friends 29th birthday tonight and our service was horrific, the poor server was not ready for a party of 18 and the manager didn't bother to address the issues or apologize we had 3 meals that never came out to the table and 2 meals that came out wrong. This was an important night to celebrate our friend and we spent half the time trying to track down our drinks and food, we ended up canceling our food once the server told us the ticket was lost and just paid for drinks. After speaking with the manager he said he was going to check on our order but never came back out of the kitchen. They were not messing around. The food was pretty ok for a chain. It was overshadowed by the beer buzz, I reckon. The service was fantastic. I've been here quite a few times and keep hoping that the food gets better. Has it? No. I even tried to order different things in hopes of finding a winner, but I always seem to find myself on the losing end. This place certainly has the ambiance and promise of good food, but everything I eat here tends to suck. If you visit their website and look under the "menu" tab, you'll see them state, "And of course, everything tastes better with BJ's own handcrafted beer." Maybe that's what I need.. a beer, to drown out their mediocre food. Well unfortunately, I don't like beer. Our waitress was friendly, but it took a long time for our meal to arrive. Although no fault of her own, she kept apologizing for the wait. When my chicken fried steak finally arrived, it was overdone and very tough to chew. My husband and I came here for the first time today for lunch. It was a little busy around 1pm but I wasn't surprised since it's a Sunday. We ordered the root beer, sampler platter, Thai chicken mango salad and the ahi poke. We enjoyed eating the ahi poke. The fish was fresh tasting and it is so far the only place so far I know in the area besides C & H that has ahi poke on their menu. (The ahi poke is better here than at C & H). The price for the ahi poke appetizer is $9.95. The Thai mango chicken salad was priced at $10.95. It was delicious and fresh tasting as well. They advertise this salad as being less than 575 calories. The ahi poke and the salad is definitely worth coming back for but not the sampler appetizer. The sampler appetizer is priced at $16.95 and it came with avocado egg roll, southwestern spring roll, mozzarella sticks and spinach and artichoke dip. You could find these items at most American restaurants. I was disappointed with the avocado roll. Yelpers recommended this and I am not impressed at all. It is definitely not worth the price so I recommend NOT to get the sampler. The root beer was another recommendation by Yelpers and AGAIN I am not impressed. It was ok but it tasted like any ol' root beer. My husband and I will definitely be back again for the ahi poke! read more

I don't always drive out to Temple, TX for the first time on a whim , but when I do, I go to BJ's. Seriously, I was in Temple for about 3 hours and most of that time was at this place. Getting there was a bit tricky. I completely passed it by while I was looking for it and ended up on a loop of some sort, but rather than blaming my bad sense of direction, I blame it on the weird on and off ramps Temple has that are much different than the ones in Houston... At any rate, I enjoyed this establishment (aside from the purpose of my visit) because the service was great (The to-go ice tea cup was a life saver on the late night drive back to H-town cool waitress) and the broiled salmon I had was delicious. The side salad was not that great but I'll let that one slip. I also got a bite out of a flat bread pizza they had and that was good too. Sharing is caring. Nice setting, nice atmosphere. You get to try different samples of their ale before purchasing (and I think you don't even have to purchase if you didn't want to). I tried a few and I actually liked them more than I thought I would. I got their Deluxe Bacon Burger and it was amazing! It was really big and I wasn't able to quite fit it in one big bite without stressing my jaws. It had 2 big patties, all your common veggies, onion rings, and the taste was great! It was kind of greasy but when you get a burger with so much stuff on it, you can't expect not to get messy =] It also came with potato wedges. Bier and food are both decent. At every brewery, I always imbibe my favorite, Indian Pale Ale (IPA). Unfortunately, BJ Restaurant and Brewery did not have any. So, I had the pale ale - not too bad, a bit on the hoppy side, but not hoppy enough (at least for me). I was not hungry, so had the Thai shrimp appetizer (4) - shrimps (3 per appetizer) with fresh veggies, wrapped in a lettuce leaf. Tasty, a bit spicy, but relatively healthy and tasty. I know, I know, why order a "Thai inspired" shrimp appetizer while in Texas and not some "manly" meat appetizer? I was not really in the mood to order anything more substantial, thus ordered the Thai appetizer. Late happy hour prices begin promptly at 2100 (9:00 pm), thus I was able to get a pretty good price break. BJ Restaurant and Brewery reminds me of Gordon Biersch - a corporate brewery. The restaurant is chic, upscale - for me, personally, not really what I would look for in a brewery/pub. Bier and food (at least the portions I tasted) were tasty and decent. However, its still a "corporate" restaurant/brewery - I long for the brew pub with distinct taste and character. Thus, three and not four stars. read more

This is an excellent place for good food and drinks. They're constantly updating the menus and always try to keep them with the seasons. I usually sit at the bar, so service is fairly quick and the bartenders make it a point to get to know you. In my case, they know me by name and automatically set me up with the drinks I want as soon as I sit. Anyway, it's a good place for a date or a night out with friends. read more

I was impressed by their menu selections, very diverse and inviting. Four of us stopped after church and every meal was out of this world, one of us ordered spaghetti and meatballs and I was shocked that for the first time I see spaghetti served with enough sauce to have spaghetti and meatballs with sauce. During a Hog Hunting Trip back in late February early March Me my step mother in law & my daughter in law came here for Dinner one of the nights that the boys were on their hunting trip. I do not remember what the other two ate but I ordered the Rib Eye which I normally wouldn't ever order however it was the only cut of beef I could find on their menu & I wanted a steak so decided to give it a go. Soooo Happy I did!!! It was AMAZING, I'm weird and do not like a lot of added seasoning (I like the natural flavor) nor do I like spicy so for this cut of meat to come to me with minimal seasoning allowed the natural flavor of the meat to shine through. I ordered medium rare to which they got it right and the meat just melted in my mouth!!! I'm not sure if the price for my meal was low, fair or high as I normally order Filet mignon. I do know that BJ's will be my go to spot when I'm craving steak while visiting my son & family in Killeen until I find another spot. I took 1 star away because the night we visited they were busy and had like a 45+ minute wait for a table however the bar area which also has tables and not just bar seating was "seat yourself" and the hostess failed to mention this to us and it wasn't until I saw others coming in and going directly to the bar area and sitting down that I decided to ask if it was self seating and was told yes. So there you go, that's my humble thoughts on this restaurant, sorry if it's too long. read more
