Tablets to order & get out fast
    Sheri H.

Dinner while in JFK. Ordered a NY strip, wedge salad, and cheesecake with a soda. The flies constantly buzzing around really killed the mood. The steak was cooked like I asked, med well, and was really big; couldn't finish it. The wedge salad was more like a half ball of lettuce and had a ton of onions but the dressing was good. I ordered it without bacon. The cheesecake was great. The asparagus on the side of the steak could've been steamed a bit longer. This place uses tablets on the tables to order and one then runs their card through the slot to pay. It's not intuitive which card slot to use to pay. Mine was on the left. Folks to my right used the one to their right. I had to ask them, and when a new couple sat down next to me, they asked me where to run their card as well. The servers know that they bring the food to the group of tables, but they don't know which person ordered the food so they call it out. Needs to be a better system for them to know who ordered what.

    Veggie burger Sad!

Almost not even worth reviewing. You order on an iPad and have to pay before you get your food. Which means they can serve horrible food and have slow service because they already got your money. The veggie burger was subpar. You're honestly better off getting something from Shake Shack or even McDonald's. Would not recommend at all.

    Fly in water special

Is zero stars an option? Let's be honest with ourselves... nobody arrives here because they want to. I found a fly in my water... yes you read that right, my water. The large waitress refused to replace my spring water with another and gave me regular. Crappy food and horrific service.

    "Salad" with goat cheese

Can I give zero stars???? I mean come on. It's one thing to know you're at the airport and won't receive the highest quality food when you're in a pinch. It's another to charge $16 for this sad handful of lettuce with some cheese on it. Let's do everyone a favor and stop with this nonsense.

    Coffee, juice.

What can I say??? Um... Don't eat here!!! It was bad enough that the staff seemed overly uninterested being there, but I am positive that both the bacon and eggs were microwaved. The bacon, definitely! And microwaved in a way that the slices were stacked on top of each other instead of laid flat and separate because while the ends looked cooked, the middle was like a raw bacon mess. Luckily I had ordered an extra side of bacon, which came out ok. The coffee was, I want to say "ok". It was lukewarm when served, but it was just black coffee. I had to ask for creamer and sweetener as neither were on the table. I actually had to ask twice because the waiter forgot to bring it the first time, as he had gotten distracted by another server for something. Same thing with the food... There was no salt & pepper on the table, so I had to ask for that as well. The eggs seemed to be either microwaved or possibly powdered, like hotel eggs, or EGGZ. The best thing on the plate were the deep-fried homefried potatoes. The toast was ok. As other's have stated in their reviews, ordering off the tablet brings an unnecessary impersonal feel to the entire experience. I mean, there are only about 10 small tables in the place to begin with. Is it really necessary to remove the one chance for the server to make you feel welcome? There are several games you can play on the tablet while eating from which you can win $1 gift cards to places like Amazon or BK. Nothing too exciting really. Best Quality: Tables were clean. Reason I would not return: Bacon & eggs, coffee and juice for 1 person costs approx $42 which did not even include a refill on the supposedly 12oz cup of coffee. The glass may have been a 12oz coffee cup, but it was only filled 3/4 of the way. Is there really ANY reason to have to skimp when charging $42 for less than $3 worth of food to begin with?

The pretzel was okay, too salty for me. The burgers were good, the French fries were ok. I like that we ordered using the iPad. Too pricey, as any airport place.

    The 25 minute, $13.50 salad

This was decent for an airport meal. I don't normally eat meals at airports, but my colleague was hungry (it had been a long day with an early start), and we had a long flight ahead of us, so I went along with her request to find somewhere to sit down for dinner. There weren't as many options in the terminal as I would've expected, so we settled down here. Everything is done via an iPad here - view the menu, place your order, track your flight - so it's pretty self-serving. The only thing that you need the waiter for is to bring your food. I got a goat cheese and beet salad and some water. Pretty basic stuff, right? It still took 25 minutes for me to get my plate. And it wasn't like they were super busy. My colleague got a buffalo chicken salad, and hers took a bit of time to come out, too. The meal itself was fine. Nothing spectacular, and it certainly didn't look like the pictures in the menu (haha). It was basically a heap of salad greens, a few roasted beet wedges, a crumble or two of goat cheese and a piece of toast. Why it took 25 minutes to come out, I cannot guess. It was nice to sit down and not have to worry about ingesting a greasy burger before a 5 hour flight. But that's about all the positive I can provide. Oh, and everything is included in your bill, so you don't have to tip afterwards. And, they have outlets built into the table, in case you need to charge your anything while you wait.

    Yogurt parfait.

Breakfast review. We thought sitting down at a "restaurant" would be preferable to sitting in the gate seating area. You'll notice that all of the restaurants on this terminal have pad devices with menus. Navigating through the menu you see all of the amazing pictures. Of course you'd be an idiot to believe that an airport terminal would actually have amazing food, but we ordered anyway. After a wait the food came. Not as good looking as the pictures. Quality was a bit suspect especially with my yogurt parfait. Room temperature yogurt, crumbled granola bars, and I think frozen fruit. I just couldn't get past the temperature of the yogurt. Last thing I needed was to have tummy issues on a long flight. I would say avoid the high prices and just grab a fast food option like Wendy's. BTW - It seems that for breakfast all the restaurant here use the same breakfast kitchen. Maybe the Japanese restaurant would be a better place to sit.

    Fingerling potatoes
    Marin J.

I didn't expect to write this. The food was edible. But overpriced. That is the problem with airport foods. Great price=cardboard. Good food=mortgage payment. It is very very VERY noisy. Music is pumped up to add "ambiance". I had fingerling potatoes, a dining companion had chicken sandwich. Both were more than passable. The waitstaff were friendly, but very busy. No one rushed us to turn over tables. This was one nice feature, as your meal should allow you some buffer from the maddening crowds. It was also nice that the wait staff noticed I had a sour look on my face and was quite shocked by tht taste of the lemonade. He whisked it away and brough back another. It had been lacking in symple syrup as had been promised on the menu. I didn't have to ask. THAT is what gets 4 stars. High class service by everyone from hostess to the waiters.

    Taps
    Amy K.

I was excited to see this bar in the Delta terminal at JFK thinking it would be an amazing beer experience before my flight. I was rather wrong. There are a lot of taps for an airport bar, but nothing rare in my opinion. They are ridiculously priced as well. Drafts are around $16 each!! It's cheaper to drink liquor at this bar. Bottles of beer (such as Peroni, Heineken, etc) run around $9. It's just not worth the money. Everything is done on an iPad, from ordering to paying. No cash accepted and if you have a special request you will need to flag down the bartender. I'm just not a fan.

    Never coming back!

Looks can be deceiving and I travel for a living, so am always in airports. Horrible customer service. 1st we ask for a table of 3 since we are with our 3year old son and they make us share a table with another group of 3. Then the other group leaves and our son is currently on my wife's lap since her food hadn't gotten here yet and they try to sit a group of 4 with us me take our sons seat away and try and tell us they already told the group of 4 they had a table so they are going to sit there. At this point there is no way I am letting this happen. So now the manager comes over and still wants to sit them. Obviously that is not going to happen or they are canceling my order and refunding my prepaid order. Suddenly a table of 4 opens and they say we can sit them there, like I was lucky. Worst airport restaurant ever. Oh and did I mention that on their iPad / you order system that you have to watch an ad after each time you add something to you tab? Another way for them to make money on top of their crazy prices.

Obviously we are here because we had a layover in this terminal and didn't want Wendy's or sushi and wanted a place to sit down - so this was the spot. The only reason this place gets any stars was because for airport food, it was decent. The rest of our experience was below enjoyable. You order your food and drinks off iPads and the tables are set up for singles with an iPad in front of everyone. If you're there as a couple or group the tables and the iPads are all meant for singles. If you have any trouble at all with technology this will throw you as we saw many people struggling- but all restaurants in this terminal are the same. You also have to pay ahead of time from the iPad and hope that the waitstaff food runners brings it all to you in time for your flight as you don't order from the server - getting a water took us three separate asks from the bartender as it's not on their iPad menu. Also- they had recharging outlets at every station but ours didn't work. The staff was so unorganized and on the borderline of unprofessional as we could hear their verbal frustrations with each other and other diners. We had heard one of the servers complain that she had a table where the woman left because sage had said: 'it was Hard to relax in this atmosphere' and that diner is right! It's also not very clean- food on the floor, dirty dishes, bugs everywhere (alive and dead!) Sadly, in this terminal there are not many options so I can't say we wouldn't end up here again. But if you can get a drink from one of the express markets and some snacks and just relax by your terminal- it may just be the better experience.

I checked in early for my flight and decided to stop and have a drink at the bar. Little did I know I would be in for a rude awakening. The bartender greeted me with, "what you want?" Being the southern bell that I am. I responded with, hi how are you? It went down hill from there. And let me add, I'm catching the red-eye and there's-maybe a handful of people including staff hanging out at the bar. After the exchange of greetings, I asked, "what type of tequila do you have?" he rattled names all of which I didn't want. So I verbally asked for a vodka and cranberry. Got my drink, it had a nice kick to it and all was fine. I decided would sip slowly to kill time before boarding. I was ignored for the first hour. Which was fine with me I was occupied with my phone and their loud tv. Boarding time rolled around quickly and now it's time to pay my tab. I call the same bartender over and told I'll like my check. He picked up the iPad laying in front of me (there's one at every table. It serves as their digital menu and virtual waitress) there's also a credit card scanner at every table. So customers can order their food and pay their tab without the assistance. I'll give em one star for being hi-tech. I however, needed his help and was pressed for time. My more than helpful bartender decided to help me check out on the iPad being that I was in a rush. My drinks were $14.50 EACH? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!!! and my bartender GAVE HIMSELF A 25% tip. my total bill was $38.82 ???? GET THE FUK OUTTA HERE!!!! I was beyond pissed! THIS PLACE IS A RIP OFF AND THAT BARTENDER IS A THIEF. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!

You ever find a place that just feels....wrong?…read more Ok, so as most of you know by now, I adore a dive bar..... like Frank Gahllager levels of love*. So when I knew I would be in the area for a while waiting for a ride, I figured I'd find refuge in a place that made me feel at home. This place should have fit that bill, but man looks can be deceiving. I'll be honest, when it comes to sticky floor dive bars, I tend to ignore ratings...well not ignore, but almost inverse the score. The lower the rating, odds are the better the dive it is. This place's rating wasn't far off, if anything, maybe a litle too high. It started innocently enough when they told me they were cash only...fair, it's only 2021 and yelp says you take cards..but yeah fair. Anywho, a quick jaunt to the corner Capitol One**, and I was back no worse for the wear..somehow. I got back and ordered a beer and a shot. In a dive bar. In a neighborhood where someone like Frank Gahllager could literally be....and it was 15$? Come on, guys. It was a bottle of Coors Lite and a shot. Never mind the fact that the place was on fire with people having...lets just say a little too much fun at 5pm on a weekday (even for me), and I was sold that this place was pretty much the pits of hell. Was I waiting for a ride still? yes. Does that mean I stayed? Absolutely, but I made sure to keep it to mugs of Bud (PS they ONLY serve Bud and somehow Stella on draft....). Don't get me wrong, it took forever to get another beer, as it was change of shift and the old bartender ran away while the new one basically told everyone to piss off for 15 min's as he set up. So TL;DR. This place is as dirty as a dive bar, has shitty booze like a dive bar, but charges like a normal bar and has bartenders that are pretty much the worst. For the record, those bartenders should have been a tip-off that this wasn't really a dive, as dive bar bartenders, as a rule, are the fucking best. _______________ *Minus the absolute rock bottom that is Frank G. **I LOVE this city, but man is this neighborhood the worst. Like people blowing smoke in your face and looking at you for a second or two too long kinda the worst....let me stop clutching my pearls now.
