I was invited to Bloofin, and I really enjoyed my experience! This restaurant is located in Spring, TX near the Grand Parkway. Nice, clean modern Asian inspired decor. When we arrived for dinner there were several diners, but it wasn't overly crowded. Plus, it was happy hour...perfect timing. Our waitress was very helpful with helping us decide. We finally decided on the baked mussels and fried calamari from the happy hour menu. Our main course was the deluxe platter. Absolutely amazing. Some of the pieces on the platter are chosen by the chef. The platter consisted of salmon, yellowtail, tuna, sea bream, and red snapper -- the sea bream took the show! Very robust flavor! My best friend and I dined here, and while the experience itself was already underwhelming, the lack of basic hospitality as we left sealed the one-star rating. As we exited, the hostess was focused on her phone and completely ignored us--even after we initially said, "Thank you." It wasn't until we said "Thank you" a second time that she finally acknowledged us. A hostess is often both the first and last impression of a restaurant, and guests should not have to repeat themselves simply to receive basic courtesy. Hospitality extends beyond seating guests--it includes making them feel welcomed and appreciated from arrival to departure. Unfortunately, that standard was missing here. read more

I really like the sushi here! They have a good happy hour, with five dollar glasses of Chardonnay. The wine is actually good too. It doesn't taste super cheap or water down. The Nigiri was all fresh, the muscles came out hot, and my scorpion roll (not HH) had a great flavor. My only complaint is, I don't understand why they cut the fish the way they did for my role. The Hamachi was in these long Awkward strips? They should've just chopped it up or made it the topper... I don't know it was kind of weird. Our waiter was very polite and knowledgeable about the menu...he took the time to answer questions and made great recommendations...which made the experience even better. The food was amazing...you can really tell they use top-notch ingredients...and everything tasted incredibly fresh...I ordered the Shaggy Dog roll and the Tiger Eye roll...and both were absolutely delicious...the flavors were balanced perfectly and each bite was better than the last. I brought my sister here for her birthday on a Monday evening and I was shocked how busy this place was. We were seated quickly, though. We ordered edamame to start off with - for our entrees, I went with ramen, which was a huge bowl, delicious, by the way and she ordered a shaggy dog, which she enjoyed. When I told my mom and sister about the reservation, they both asked, "can we just go to Blōōfin instead?" ...so we did, and, as always, the food was spectacular. Tried and true favs: Foie Gras chawanmushi, the Wagyu skewers AND the A5 hot stone entree. The food here is consistently stellar! I really enjoyed my Friday night dinner with a friend at Blōōfin sushi. Parking across the street in the garage was free for 3 hours. We sat on the patio by the water, but inside had plenty of room too. Our server was super nice and gave great recommendations. I was craving sushi and wanted to try something new so we stopped at Blōōfin for an impromptu day date. We started with a seaweed salad and the spicy edamame. Both were the best I'd ever had. The seaweed salad was so fresh and the seasoning on the spicy edamame was so tasty! Per our waiter, Christian's suggestion, we dipped our sushi rolls in the leftover sauce and that was a game changer! For rolls, we decided to try a lot of their signature rolls. Each one was fresh and full of flavor. Turns out, I'm not a fan of the flavor of the torched rolls. Next time, I'd order them without the torching but all the ingredients were very fresh. My favorite roll was the jalapeño roll which is surprising because I don't normally like cooked rolls, but this one was amazing! Every time we dine here, I think it just gets better and better. We tried their new Asian pear dish again and they actually took my suggestion up and added more pear!! Our favorite sake is called the Drunkin' Whale, thanks to the manager Johan for introducing it to us. The last picture I have attached here was so uniquely-crafted. I forget the name of the plate (my b!); however, I loved all the colors splashing together on the plate. And the tastes - acidic and sauve - just BURSTED in your mouth all in the right way! I walked in at 1pm and it was a ghost town so I had my doubts, but sat down to look at the menu anyway. I am not a fan of seaweed, but I love sushi, and think it's crazy to have to pay an upcharge for soy paper, so when I saw the crazy roll already had soy paper, I was thrilled. Yeah it was $15, but I don't mind paying when I know the sushi is good. This place, despite being empty, had good reviews, so I went for it. What a pleasant surprise, because it is so damn good. I still have one piece left, but took time to do the review mostly so I could hopefully make a little more room for this last piece. As I sit here, a few more tables are making their way in, and I understand that it may be slow here because we are all still feeling the effects of Beryl. So many businesses are still closed 4 days later, and alot of people are still busy with clean up. Anyway, I digress. The service , Cynthia was my server, was good, and again, the Crazy roll was delicious. I still haven't made room for this last piece, but trust me, I will. I definitely recommend Bloo fin. So many great things to say about Bloofin in Spring. Overall it was a 4 star experience for me Food = 5 stars Ordered the spicy edamame which was very flavorful, our favorite part was the charred aspect. Also ordered the Yami roll, which was so flavorful and a large size roll as well. Delicious! The rainbow spider roll was also great, the crab was very yummy addition to the rainbow roll. For sashimi we got pepper tuna, hamachi and unagi which was our favorite part of the whole meal. Service = 1 star. We saw our waitress maybe 3 times through our entire dining experience always had empty glasses of water, the edamame took over 25 min to be brought to us from when we ordered it, and same with the sushi. We felt very "unattended" so we didn't bother to order more or have drinks here. Ambiance = 5 stars, clean with dim lighting and great tables, and seating. Ohhhhhh, yesssss...! My mouth still salivates & my taste buds are still dancing from our recent meal here. While there are many places to grab sushi around town, it's a MUST to recognize the ones that set the bar higher than the rest. Bloofin is one of those spots. It's a cozy sushi restaurant tucked away in the Grand Parkway Marketplace shopping plaza. Just like the food it serves, the restaurant is clean, modern, and inviting. The menu has an everything from simple wine & sake to specialty cocktails, from basic sushi & rolls to extravagant dishes that include the likes of wagyu, king crab, lobster, foie gras, and uni. On our first visit, we sampled a few things. 1.) Calamari: Light, airy crispy, with a drizzle of sweet chili sauce to pack on extra flavor. 2.) Gyoza: Perfectly pan fried to maintain the delicate inner texture of the dumpling. 3.) Monkey Brains: While the name is a bit alarming, it was super delicious... An appetizer presented like a roll, it was basically the sushi version of a stuffed avocado, fried in tempura. 4.) Shrimp Crunch roll: It was solid. A great "value" item you can find on the Happy Hour menu. 5.) The Alaska maki: Inspired by "baked Alaska," it was tasty & creamy - rich with the salmon topping. 6.) The Lion King signature roll: The SHOWSTOPPER, with juicy bites of Alaskan King Crab. So fresh and delicious. The ingredients expertly highlighted the sweet crab meat, not masking nor overpowering it. It was PHENOMENAL. ***We would have ordered more, but with just two of us dining we were happily full from this spread. Stuffed with sushi and no regrets. But, I can't wait to try other signature items next time... Can't forget to mention that service is also outstanding, which seems to be so hard to come by these days. Summary: I was in the area and decided to check Yelp for nearby options. Luckily, I found that Bloofin was close by, as I heard many good reviews about that restaurant, so I decided to try their lunch menu. (Disregard my first impression if you're here for the food review :) ) Website/Menu/Direction Upon attempting to order online, I realized that the website does not have a lunch option. The only available photos dated back a few years, and I found the font on the menu difficult to read. I would suggest a redesign if they have not gotten one yet. As I was driving to the sushi place, I encountered an incorrect address that led me to a hospital. Despite this, I eventually located the restaurant and updated the information on Yelp for the benefit of future visitors. You're welcome! First Impression: Upon entering, I was less than impressed as I waited for someone to acknowledge my presence. A cook member eventually tried to assist me but failed. As I was waiting, I noticed that the layout of the restaurant was not too big, and there appeared to be numerous employees. Probably 2 waitresses, 4 to 6 cooks? and 2 individuals who seemed to be the manager and the host, as they did not have uniforms. The host seemed a bit lost as to what she was doing, maybe she was new? The manager came over after a good minute and initially mistaken me for a job seeker due to me wearing a suit. As to any establishment, the first response should be "How am I help you? and not "Are you looking for a job?" That was very unprofessional. I then informed him that I was there to pick up a takeout order. However, he looked confused and asked me what I wanted to order. This added to my confusion when I explained to him that I was there to collect a takeout order. Lastly, there was an issue with my credit card, which was unusual and raised some concerns for me as that had never happened before. Food: My take-out order was a Chirashi bowl as I was attracted by its lunchtime affordability. Usually cost about $30, but lunch was about $18? I'm very happy with the generous assortment of fish. The bowl has pieces of salmon, red snapper, escolar, tuna, imitation crab, shrimp, yellowtail, and, to my surprise, eel. Not many restaurants have eel in a Chirashi bowl. The rice-to-fish ratio was super well-balanced, and I particularly enjoyed the large, hearty chunks of fish. I would give a high rating to the Chirashi, but not sure if is it because I was super hungry that day. Overall: I'm inclined to reserve final judgment on the restaurant until I've experienced more of its offerings and service. There are lots on the menu to try and thus I would give it a 3 stars for the time being. Given their two locations in North Houston, the distance is a factor for me. Until my next visit, I remain open to giving them another chance. read more

I got the two roll lunch, which included any two rolls from a large list and a soup or salad. Our server brought us both dressings to try (wasabi & ginger), and both were AMAZING. I'm used to my "all you can eat" sushi spots in Virginia, so this was a wonderful treat for me. The food was so good! I'm glad I got to experience it. I have been here many times and I have always been very pleased and had great experiences. Recently, I had dinner with a colleague who spent some time in Japan and he said that the sushi is the same quality and taste like the one he had in Japan. He was very pleased. As far as drinks, last time I had a Kikusui Nigori (Perfect Snow) that was amazing. At every visit, the service was excelent. I have never had the slightest issue.
