Had a lovely dinner here with my folks when they visited. They were traveling with their dog so we dined in the outdoor courtyard/patio. It was lovely! Great ambiance. Felt casual yet classy. We brought a bottle of wine from our day of tasting ($50 corkage fee) and enjoyed our mussels, salads, & entrees. Service was impeccable.

This is a very elegant, fine dining restaurant in Downtown Paso Robles. The service is excellent. The Chef prepared menu delicious. The wine list is full of great choices. For a special evening out or a celebration, or just a great dining experience this is the perfect choice.

Overall, we had a great experience! The service was amazing, the place is modest but cozy the food was definitely good. The escargot was delicious--I could've easily had a couple more orders of those yummy little things. The quail was very good as well, though it came with a sweet, caramel-like sauce that my beau wasn't a fan of. The rabbit was just okay for me, but my beau really enjoyed it. The wine was also solid.

Another fabulous night of feasting at the quaint BL Brasserie. We were met by the lovely hostess Heather as we entered the restaurant; she offered to hang my coat and seated us at a comfortable corner table. We started our dinner with a delicious Champagne rose brut; crisp and beautifully balanced. For our appetizers, we ordered the charcuterie platter, which was mélange of saucisson, pate de campagne (adored this pâte) I believe jamon de Bayonne or a similar cured ham, and delicious crouts. A truly tasty platter! We also ordered the crab croquettes, which were crunchy and savory with a delicious béchamel crab filling. We always ordered the salade Lyonnaise, we love every aspect of this salad, the shallots dressing is so wonderful and piquant! For our entree we ordered the duck breast with a sweet and savory blueberry reduction; wow! Amazing! Cooked perfectly medium rare and so tender; paired with an elegant red from Burgundy. A truly amazing experience! It was delightful chatting about France with Marc, the sommelier. Wonderful staff and an awesome well trained French chef!

Pretty disappointing in my opinion. We came here after some wine tasting in paso, and everything was just very 'meh.' We tried all of the hot takes from the menu, but nothing stood out as amazing. The corkage is $50, which I thought was a lot for wine country. They add on a surprising 3% fee if if you pay by credit card, that everyone does. The steak that we got was overcooked compared to how it was requested. One interesting thing was that the escargot surprisingly had 2 snails in every shell, so I'm not sure how authentic they were. We had plenty of escargot in France, and never were there 2 snails in a shell. The service was mediocre, and they struggled with getting the heaters to work on a cold night. I really was not very impressed with BL Brasserie, and am surprised that they are still in business. I don't think that I'll be returning.

My boyfriend and I came across this restaurant while walking downtown, and I'm glad we stopped in! We came in pretty late (almost 9pm), but the staff was kind and still seated us. Overall the food was great. We ordered a half dozen oysters and crab croquettes, my boyfriend ordered the Filet Mignon with peppercorn sauce and potatoes au gratin, and I ordered the roasted duck special with potatoes and blueberry sauce. The oysters were of decent size and alone had pretty good flavor; however, the sauce was not my cup of tea as it was quite vinegary / sour. The crab croquettes were nice and crispy, but the filling was more creamy and less crabby (both in flavor and in crab meat texture) than I had anticipated. My boyfriend said his filet was one of the best he's had in a restaurant in a long time. It was a perfect medium rare and the peppercorn sauce was delicious! It definitely had a peppery kick but a nice creamy balance. The potatoes were also rich with cream, cheese and garlic! My duck was also amazing--it was tender and the fatty flavor was complimented by the sweeter blueberry sauce. I could've done without my potato pancake as it was kind of bland and didn't add much to the dish (I could've just shared my boyfriend's au gratin dish since those were so good). We also enjoyed the crème brûlée, which had a thick layer of carmelized sugar / crisp on top. The beignets were big, warm and fluffy but didn't have a ton of flavor, so I could've done without those. Overall, I think the food quality was on par with the price point. The wait staff was very friendly, and despite being later in the evening we weren't rushed to get out. The restaurant itself was on the higher end but not pretentious or overly fancy. I'd recommend this to anyone looking for an nicer date night spot downtown!

We felt transported to Paris the minute we walked in. There were huge French ad posters lining the walls and an air of sophistication as a tall, stoic, professional gentleman led us to our table. The menu was classic French fare. We started with the tasty escargot in the shell (garlicky and chewy); a bottle of superb Chateauneuf du Pape (our attentive gentleman decanted it for us); traditional French onion soup (done just right); I ordered an excellent hangar steak in red wine (an exquisite, flavorful blend of juicy, tender meat and reduction sauce). Our party loved all their dishes: the special pumpkin with seafood; the shrimp; fluffy omelet; leek soup. Our creme brulee was once again, done in classic style and very delicious. This is was a wonderfully memorable experience thanks to first rate service and top-notch food.

Service and food were amazing as always. The ambience is so comfortable and inviting. We brought friends who had never had French food or even oysters, quail or mussels which we ordered for appetizers. We took a big chance considering their limited experience with these dishes. They raved about the meal! They are now looking forward to returning and continuing to experience French food. Kudos to BL Brasserire for delivering on all fronts.

This was an amazing restaurant. The food was amazing. So French and so yummy. I had the French onion soup and the chicken dish. Now this isn't just an ordinary chicken, this is French chicken with the amazing buttery crispy skin and juicy tender meat. I don't know how they make chicken taste so good. My husband had the steak frites and he was impressed. I would come back here again in a heartbeat. By the way, this was recommended to us by one of the wine makers at a local winery who said this was a very good place to go out for great food in Paso Robles.

We have been coming to this restaurant for 30 years. It's always amazing. The food is incredible and the staff is always helpful and knowledgeable. It's a perfect bistro and plenty of seating inside the charming restaurant and great seating outside. If you love French food this is the perfect place to go. I love this restaurant! The only reason why I gave them a 4 is they were quite busy and we had to wait for our check. The food is always a 5

What a wonderful gem in downtown Paso Robles! My daughter and I love French food and she took me to Paso Robles for a birthday weekend. This place is so amazing and so special, they really know what they're doing! Everything we ate was delicious and even more impressive was they timed everything perfectly the chef and the kitchen Actually pay attention to how you pace you're eating and drinking so everything comes out amazing and when you want it. Of course, this all starts with having an impressive waiter who knows what he's doing. The service was impeccable. The place is adorable and quaint, everything you would find in a Parisian brasserie!

Ask the Community - BL Brasserie

    Is there a dress code?

I have seen people dressed up and casual. Would not go with flip flops and tank tops, but casual button up shirts and shorts on guys and gals are not unheard of.

Does BL still do the multi-course chef wine pairing dinners? This was the absolute BEST culinary experience, when I visited them in 2013.

    They offer it on Thursdays.

Do they allow dogs on the outdoor patio? And is there heating out there?

I don't think this is the kinda place to bring the pooch. Don't recall seeing out door heating ..

We've been here a few times now, and it's consistently outstanding, so this visit was really no different. The staff is incredible, and the sommeliers are always so knowledgeable and helpful. But I have to talk about the caviar tater tots because those are probably my favorite thing on the menu. I could honestly sit there, eat those all night, and drink champagne. They also brought my bestie a birthday dessert, along with a birthday card from the restaurant, which I thought was such a thoughtful touch. Overall, Les Petites is just such a fun experience. We came for our anniversary and could only get the earliest 5 p.m. seating, but it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. We went all-in on the "Trust Us" tasting menu and chose the Exploration wine flight to go with it. The meal was phenomenal. There was still flexibility within the experience, including vegetarian substitutions and optional upgrades like caviar. For the main course, we chose different options so we could share--one of us had the lamb neck and the other upgraded to the A5 Wagyu. Both were incredible. Everyone at the table has to participate in the tasting menu, but we appreciated that only one of us needed to order the Exploration wine flight. The pours were substantial enough for us to share, and it was amazing how perfectly each wine complemented the course. The entire experience reminded us of a beautiful Japanese kaiseki meal--not just dinner, but a work of art. Every dish was thoughtfully plated, visually stunning, and full of unexpected flavors. Service was excellent: welcoming, knowledgeable, and perfectly paced. We never felt rushed, but we also weren't sitting around waiting between courses. The restaurant itself is small and intimate, and while it's definitely a higher price point, the atmosphere is comfortable rather than overly formal. Absolutely worth the splurge for a special occasion!
