Such an amazing family friendly restaurant! We love bringing the family here. Not only for the fun themes and great service, but the portion sizes are greatly appreciated. Especially with a bunch of hungry teenagers! And if you've never tried the fresh OJ, you are definitely missing out!

Extensive menu! Sometimes I get breakfast for lunch or dinner. One of my favorite items is the chicken tenders with fries. Restaurant is always clean and well maintained. Service is spot on. Everyone is always friendly, attentive and accommodating.

We were quickly seated & ordered mimosas. I also ordered The Bear's Choice; Waffle, eggs & bacon plate. Loved the waffles. My friend ordered a Pot Roast Melt Sandwich & thought it was really good. Total came up to around $56 dollars. Overall Food & Service was good.

Good food and amazing customer service! I always get the chorizo breakfast burrito and sub it out for sausage.

Food was great. The angus burger felt a tad on the small side. I might be imagining things. It was delicious though. The kids loved their meals. Fast service even though they were very busy. Chill vibes.

This is such a cute place! Decorated like a cozy cabin there are bears everywhere. A dessert case up front lets you see the sweet treats available for taking home and there is seating if the restaurant is busy enough to have a waiting period. We were seated right away and got our drinks immediately, since we were waiting for a third person we held off on ordering and the waitress came right back when our party member appeared. We got chicken fried steak, an omelette and bread pudding French toast and everyone enjoyed the meal! We'll be back for sure. One of our favorite "comfort food" places.

11/27/25 Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Getting lunch here! Arrived! No wait and Gali greeted and was very kind. 2, turkey & 1 ham dinner ordered & paid for. Gali said it would be ready in 15 minutes. It was very busy inside. We waited in the car for it be ready. 15 minutes flew by! Go to get it and the worker was nice and said it was almost ready & it was ready a few minutes later. The worker brought order with good day wishes! Appreciated!! That was WAY too simple! Thanksgiving lunch time! Everything was Great! Unfortunately, they only gave 1 cornbread muffin. We're supposed to have 3. The only problem. I shared the cornbread and it was GREAT!! Mother said hers was really Great minus the cornbread muffin, but I did share my cornbread muffin and she loved it! Gam literally said hers was Really Great! GREAT service & GREAT Thanksgiving lunch! Pie included for dinner looks DELICIOUS! Dinner!! Absolutely DELICIOUS pie! Perfect after thr GREAT lunch!! Highly recommended!

The environment is always bubbly and loud at this establishment, so if you're looking for a quiet space- do not come here. If you love great conversation, a nice space after church, and great food then this is your go to spot. Take into account that it gets very busy during breakfast. I went with the volcano breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, pancakes were soft, and eggs were cooked perfectly. I gave it a 4/5 because there was a long hair in my pancake, but the waitress brought me over a $5 coupon for next time. :)

Stopped in for Veterans Day cuisine. Amayah was the perfect hostess. Breakfast, lunch & dinner menu choices were available for dine in of take out. I appreciate Black Bear Diner for recognizing & serving the veteran community. Juke box in the waiting area provided nostalgic music for good time entertainment.

I'm at the age where I don't want a "fusion" version of breakfast; I just want it done right. Black Bear Diner delivered exactly what I was looking for. Country Fried Steak: Massive. It's got that heavy, craggy breading that stays crunchy even under the gravy. The meat was tender, no knife-fighting with your food here. Mashed Potatoes: Real deal. Skin-on, buttery, and they actually taste like potatoes, not a powder mix. The Biscuit: This thing is a unit. It's dense and warm, perfect for mopping up the extra peppery white gravy. The Vibe: What really sold me was the experience. The service was great, our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive without being overbearing. It wasn't crowded when I went, and the atmosphere was nice and quiet. It's the perfect spot if you want to actually hear your own thoughts (or your conversation) while you eat. Pro Tip: Come hungry. The portions are huge, but the calm environment makes it easy to take your time and enjoy it.

Love it here! Portions are huge. Everything we ordered was delicious. The server was a great help too! It was our first time there and she gave us time to really explore the menu and narrow down what it was that we wanted to order. By far, Black Bear Diner is our favorite diner to go to!

My introduction to Black Bear Diner was in Las Vegas about 7 years ago. It was one of the best breakfast spots I've ever been to & this Fresno location is the same. We've been in Fresno for 6 days & today is our third breakfast here. First, the have one of the best unsweetened teas in America & these sweet crème pancakes are second to none. Bacon is crispy, not greasy, & never burnt. Really, the only downside is their hash browns are not good. They need to kidnap a hash town cook from Waffle House. Service is quick but unobtrusive & their desserts rival those of Perkins or Village Inn. Not the cheapest place in down but you get an excellent meal for your money. 4-stars.

The biscuit and gravy are definitely home made. The biscuits weren't perfect they were odd shaped like a dome and the gravy was smooth and creamy not too thick or clumpy. Gotta love their motto: "Every plate is made with love, and every customer is treated like family." I've had the pleasure of meeting Teresa on a few occasions and chatting a bit. She is just so genuine and earnest. I always look forward to seeing her and chatting if she has the time. Each time we are in the area (usually to visit Yosemite and Kings Canyon National Parks) we make sure to stop in. This visit we managed to come in twice! Yay! Just love the working model train set perched overhead in both eating areas. If it's not running, just ask your server and they will turn it on. First visit I ordered the shredded beef enchiladas (comes with refried beans, rice, chips and salsa) along with a nice refreshing beer. Second visit I ordered the Trainwreck breakfast (eggs, hash browns, bell peppers, onions, tortilla chips, jack and cheddar cheese. Plus choice of two meats and two additional vegetables.) with biscuit and gravy. I choose two types of sausage, zucchini and avocado. Oh and an ice cold beer of course. Both meals were fresh and delicious. No matter what I order here I always know it will be tasty and well balanced. Service is always friendly, helpful and courteous! If I lived closer I would definitely stop by more often!

The fajitas were overcooked, and the enchilada was topped with what tasted more like gravy than enchilada sauce, which was really strange. We haven't tried breakfast, so maybe that's where they shine, but based on our lunch and dinner experiences, I don't think we'd go back.

First of all, the drive over was lovely. I love how the streets are lined with trees and seeing the planes flying above. It really set the tone leading up to breakfast. Luckily, I heard tremendous things leading up to my visit, so I finally made an effort to try it for myself. Let me just start out by saying: This is as good as soul food gets. There's a reason Joe Rogan shouted this spot out on his podcast several years ago. My group was immediately greeted by Chef Paul himself upon our arrival. He sat us down and got our drinks going right away. Another lady then took our orders. They had a Lamb Shank special going, so I decided to snag their last one of the day. We did wait a little while for the food, but it was well worth it. You can tell they put a lot of effort into bringing out fresh and flavorful plates for their customers! The Lamb came out glazed in thick, flavorful sauce and topped with parsley and onion. It was phenomenal. I didn't realize one could make Lamb taste THAT good. It was super flavorful and moist, and I wish they could keep it as a staple on their menu. My sides were Braised Cabbage, Chili Beans, and Cornbread. They all tasted great, but the Chili Beans really stood out for me. I love how they had a little kick that really upped the flavor profile. My grandma got the Fried Chicken with Potato Salad, Collard Greens, and Cornbread while my brother went with another special of the day: Turkey Wings and Cornbread Stuffing with Gravy and Mac & Cheese on the side. There were ZERO complaints among us. Every single one of our orders were exceptional. Chef Paul was attentive to every table in the restaurant, and he was constantly checking on us to see if we needed anything. I can now see why this restaurant gets so much praise. Chef Paul does it right! Thank you for such a delightful meal.
